Ailana Pareja was a human female politician who was elected Queen of Naboo in 33 ABY. She was the daughter of Royal Security Forces Master Sergeant Dakir Pareja and Theed University Professor Lya Pareja. A self-proclaimed Populist, Ailana believed in equal rights for all individuals. She was also well-known for her dedication and frequent outreaching to the native Gungans, and played an instrumental role in re-establishing the traditions of the city of Kaadara, which was the home of many Naboo citizens, but utilized a contingent of Gungan soldiers as the city's security force. It was a tradition set back over a thousand years by the city's first regent, Kallos Sook. After her time as a supervisor, she returned to the legislative body and authored a series of bills titled the Apailana Acts, which aided immigrants and settlers coming to the planet by increasing some of their rights and streamlining the process for citizenship. Her ascendancy to the throne of Naboo at the age of fourteen came about because of her popularity as a city supervisor and her forward-thinking ideals.
