Background and History

Measuring 150 meters in length, CR90 corvettes, also known as Corellian corvettes or blockade runners, were consular vessels manufactured by the Corellian Engineering Corporation. The CR90 first saw use within the old Republic and the Galactic Empire as a transport reserved for members of the Republic and later Imperial Senate. Despite not being originally intended as a combat-oriented vessel, the impressive speed and space for modifications meant that many vessels were appropriated by the early Rebel Alliance during the Galactic Civil War, as well as by mercenaries, privateers, and pirates as commerce. Many also served as armed civilian freighters and transports, or were used as patrol or picket ships by planetary governments. While aging, many CR90s still ply the galactic spaceways as valued transports and pocket warships.

Weaponry

The CR90 Corvette had a wide variety of weapon loadouts given their adaptability, but most carried two double turbolaser turrets (dorsal and ventral) and four single turbolaser turrets for defense, though these were often switched out for missiles, torpedoes, or tractor beam projectors. While too small to carry fighters, some CR90s were modified to carry starfighters docked to their exteriors for additional defense.
