Catch The Light: Part Seven

The Jedi had traveled back to Ahch-To for another round of seeing what could be salvaged from the mining island. The crystal from the cavern had come back as Kyber. A wonderous breakthrough given the Order had been searching for a new source! It had just been sitting at the bottom of the ocean waiting for new owners to reclaim it.

There was the matter of getting tunnels mapped out, cleared out and then having to reinforce those tunnels and making sure that they would be safe to travel.

That meant that people were working on moving rocks and Vega was on the outside working in the water given she's welded durasteel and special glass to finish out the tunnel that leads to the cavern. While there was the occasional bright fish that swam by and spooked the white haired woman, she was focused on the task at hand.

While he had his own saber, and no current need for crystals, he was still excited. After all, who knew what kind of gem might be down here, something that could make a saber that would be quite different than the norm.

<> he says. <<I'm not good with it.>> he chuckles as he uses the force to help with moving rocks. After moving some, he looks around behind them, kinda hoping that large water serpent didn't go to far, but then again that may be a good thing it's not nearby.

Jax hadn't responded when asked if he could use a torch, thought it wasn't out of rudeness he swears. He was busy concentrating on moving rocks with his mind. He was standing there with a hand stretched out. Rocks moving over to the side as he works.

Zandra grins at the chatter, quieting now as she continues to work at rock moving. Her TK has certainly improved from way back on Arisnar when she started. It's a great example of practice helping to improve skill. She starts piling the rocks neatly to the side out of the way, where they are supposed to be. Several rocks at a time move, but carefully and controlled so as to not hit her friends or herself.

Yuun keeps on work along with Zan and Jax clearing the rocks, his skills with telekinesis has finally gotten better as well. Yuun still trains in combat, but he's been working other skills as of the last few months, though as he looks around he smiles. The waters here seem different to him in a way, he likes it. He moves a few medium sized rocks.

Ax recovers the torch and starts on the repairs of the interior seams. <<"If you need me in the water, I have no problem jumping in, but I've never done any underwater welding.">> he says over the comms.

Jax reaches out with the force to move another rock with the force. He's listening to the banter on the channel. Another rock goes zipping past. He lets out a sigh. Then he looks around for a moment, "I know the holocron of Yoda says Size matters not. Those big ones though are more taxing to move."

There's a large shadow that moves and through the transparent part of the tunnel that they've got built those that are inside can see that there is something large approaching. Zandra is the first to notice it, followed closely by Jax, Yuun and Vega...who is on the outside of the safety of the tunnel. It's a bit comical really. One minute the suited up woman is welding and the spark dies out as she feels something staring at her.

Chione has returned! For those that have not seen this Oceanic Dragon she is a sight to behold! And she seems to be staring the Jedi outside down.

Ax would be able to see the dragon up close, it's shimmery blue scales glittering in the little sparks of the welding torch that he is using.

The shadow that passes catches Zan's attention subconsciously. She barely manages to keep the rocks moving, as she looks up, and her eyes widen. She moves to a complete stop. "Uh oh," she murmurs. << Vega, yes, you have that giant sea serpent we let out of this place behind you. Or one just like it. >> She might as well tell her. From where she is, Zan takes a breath, trying to decide what to do. << But - she's just staying there staring at us. Are we even big enough for it to consider a snack? >>

Ax is focused more on getting a decent weld, and is oblivious of what was going on outside, that is until Vega asks if something is staring at her. The Echani flips up the lenses of his welding glasses and right in front of him is Chione.

There's a brief stutter before Ax keys up his mic again. <<"I think she might be attracted to the flashing of the welders and is just investigating.... Or, that's what I'm hoping. I didn't even see her come in.">> Up close, this thing was big, and beautiful. <<"I wouldn't recommend any sudden movements though, wouldn't want to trigger its predator/prey drive.">>

Yuun moves some of the larger rocks and slide them off to the side, but when the shadow is cast, he looks up to see Chione. Is this a sign of the force, he's seen two dragons in his lifetime or is this something bad? He watches for the moment and beholds the dragon, just watching it, "Don't make any quick movements, maybe it's friendly and want to thank us for freeing it?" he suggests.

Jax looks up in time to see a dragon. He does as the others say and doesn't move. "Is that.... What is that? It it like a sea Kryat dragon? If you notice I'm not feeling my danger sense about it."

Vega's head swivels to the right and she looks at the large serpent that is there. It doesn't move to try to eat her. The general vibe from the creature is more a seeking one than one of wanting to attack. "Oh thank the gods, I thought you were going to eat me." she states off the comms. Apparently it doesn't try to gobble her up though, at least not yet. <<I think she...or he, needs something.>> she tells the others.

Just about the time Vega states that the serpent extends it's head, nudging Vega with it's head, <<Ummm...I think I'll be right back. RN-D1 has the ship ready if anything happens.>> she tells the others. The ocean creature then nudges Vega through the water towards the cavern.

Welp, she was a good Padawan!

Meanwhile, the older initiates that had come to help are crowding around to see what's happening, "Is it going to eat her?!" one of the teens asks.

They'll just have to see what happens while Vega's off helping the ocean dweller.

Zandra takes a breath, watching. Her gaze goes to Vega who goes with the giant dragon water creature. << Vega, keep in contact, if you can, >> she calls back over comms. Then the younger ones get a look. "No, it's not going to eat her," she says, sounding sure of it. There's something about it, after all.

Ax, being one of the oldest of the Jedi, gets assaulted by some of the younger. Meanwhile, he's trying to focus on keeping tabs on Vega and the serpent. When one of the younger initiates tugs on his sleeve, Ax lifts up the torch, sparks it once, then gives the student a side-eye glance before Ax is once again turning his attention to the exterior of the tunnels, focusing his mind and will on searching out Vega and Chione through the force.

<<Uhh....I will try to keep comms with you, though depending how deep you go.>> he says. Yuun looks around and sees the initiates asking questions and he sees Zandra talking with the initiates, "She will be fine." he says as he goes to see if he can try to keep in better comms area to keep in range of Vega and her new friend.

Jax being one of the jedi knights was bombarded with questions about Vega. The jedi holds up his hands, "It's a fine. I'm sure she'll be fine. The creature appears to be an avatar of the force. She'll be fine." Then he whispers to Zan, "She'll be fine right?"

Vega's fine!

She's got a light with her this time and shines it inside before she swims into the cave. The ocean serpent doesn't follow. She'd already gotten stuck once and well...that wasn't pleasant to say the least. She shines her light around until she hits what the serpent was wanting, <<Oh...she's got eggs.>> she states over the comms. She swims down to find the nest in a bed of crystals. Finding that one had been broken in the ruckus at some point. But two were intact. <<Well, these are small enough that I can move them. Though one got crushed when rocks fell at some point.>> she reports back.

There are also scales that have littered the floor around the area, <<Hey Yuun, I'm bringing you something.>> she tells him. Then she goes quiet as she is using the force to help her with the eggs. She can't swim and carry them both...but with her mind it helps!

Chione swims around the cavern, like she's pacing, but when the Echani appears again she's swimming back towards the opening to see if her prodding had helped.

The teens in the tunnels with the other Jedi seem to let out a breath, "Alright, that thing is cool, but we were betting it was going to eat her." one states. Though the side eye from Ax makes them disappear back down the tunnels. Oops!

"Eggs," Zandra says, sounding bewildered for a moment. And then, "Eggs. Oh." That suddenly makes sense. She shoos the younger students back to work, and then turns to Jax. "Yes," she says simply. << I guess getting the eggs out to her is a good thing, right? Do you need help, Vega?>>

Ax glances over to Jax. "I'm glad I left Adder with Kadi and the twins, he'd probably try to assert his dominance, seeing another serpent, and like usual, he'd be wrong," he says, shaking his head. "And, I'm glad I left the twins with Kadi for that matter too, they'd be trying to go swimming with it."

Keying up his comms, <<"Well, I guess it really is a she. Where are you planning on taking the eggs? There a safe place, away from the construction efforts?">>

<<Alright, let me know where to meet you.>> he says as he hears her tell them that there are eggs there. Quirking a brow up, "No betting on any of us getting eaten." Yuun says as he starts to make his way towards the entrance. <<Let me know where to meet you.>> he says on the comms. <<Is there anything else there>> he asks.

"it looks fun now that we know it's not going to eat her." Jax looks at Ax, "I'd bet he'd gotten ate." Then looking back at the initiates, "Gambling about other jedi health is wrong. Especially when you don't give me a chance to bet."

The serpent-like creature sees Vega struggle a bit with the eggs and she dives down to help with that. The egg that was starting to fall is taken into the serpents mouth and then a look is given to the other as the mother swims up to also take that one. They look safe in the mothers mouth. About as safe as you can get really with all those sharp teeth. With that the dragon gives a look through the glass to the Jedi within, then to Vega before she swims off with a quickness.

"Food break anyone? I think we've had enough excitement for the time being." she muses to that as she waits to see if others are ready for a break. She sure was.

Yuun watches the shadow, <<You will see her again.>> he says to Vega through the comms. When he sees Vega, he takes the scale, looking at the beautiful scale, he grins a little, "I hope we see them all again." he says to her and he holds the scale to him, "Thank you Vega, why me though?" he asks as he looks to her, "Yeah food. Alright break time!" he calls out.

"Honestly, I'd most want a tooth or claw," Ax says with a chuckle. "I'm sure those creatures shed them at some point, but I'd never consider taking one by force." Though, if there's one of those creatures here, and she had eggs, that stands to reason that there are more in the oceans of this planet. Maybe he'd get lucky at some point. "I think I'm gonna finish this weld up," he says, gesturing towards the one he'd started on, then I'm going to fly back to Chandrila. With the Sith in system, I'm not thrilled about leaving my wife and the twins there without me. I'm sure that friends and family would jump in to evacuate them should the need arise, but friends and family aren't me."
