Exploring Dromund: Part One

OOC Date: November 9, 2020
Location: Dromund Kaas
Participants: Shivan, Valeda Mirn, Soont

The Sith Eternal had done little investigating on Dromund Kaas proper. Which is a bit odd for such a group that likes to look up old relics of the past. Shivan had taken a group out to see if they could at least start a path into the jungle wilderness. There are peels of bright lightning and the distant rumble of thunder that will never arrive.

Kaas City was outlined dark black against the flashes and so much dark greenery rest between it and them.

Shivan is dressed in her black robes as usual, but her face is covered in the usual way. Her glowing gold eyes look over to the guards that accompany them, "Follow me." she tells them in her quiet tone.

Lieutenant Mirn is also along on the exploration trip. The TIE pilot is out of her day uniform, wearing a combat jumpsuit instead... black with a red stripe down the entire outer seam and Lieutenant's insignia. Other than that, she has her regulation blaster and BB-unit astromech.

"Commence sensor scan, BB30." she declares in a neutral tone. The black BB-unit chirps compliance and begins to softly chitter while rolling along."

Allowing the guard detail to handle the perimeter and security, she focuses on the search.

At the back of the group, trying to remain inconspicuous is Soont. She walks cautiously through the jungle, trying to avoid rubbing up against too many branches and vines, and animals, and insects, and she generally has a look of distain on her face for the being out here. She keeps an eye on the guards, and follows along in silence.

The crimson clad storm troopers head forward, using different instruments to cut through the growth of trees, it was a lot of work really. Plus the armor they were wearing was heavy. Shivan follows after them, her hands clenching every now and again just in case something jumped out at them. That's why she's distracted.

Valeda does happen to see a flash of silvery wings though as the jungle path opens in front of them. Maybe it was just a bug. Probably nothing to worry about.

At the flash of ANYTHING moving, Valeda draws her blaster pistol. No, she doesn't light up the foliage with it, but she's a city girl at heart.

"Look lively, everyone." She declares, a moment before her BB-unit whistles. "Something moving up ahead."

Valeda Mirn slides her Sonn-Blas SE-44c Blaster Pistol - 21301 out of its holster, bringing the weapon to bear.

You've received a +nom from Valeda Mirn. +nom/pending to review.

Soont is suddenly feeling VERY exposed without a weapon in her hand -- not like she's ever used one though -- and she moves a little closer to the TIE pilot, eyes glancing left and right, as she spins slowly in her walk to see if there is anything coming to eat her right this instant, or if she can continue to stew in her terror for a few moments longer.

Do you hear that? There is the silence that hangs in the muggy air heavily.

Then there is a rumbling of trees and a low buzzing as the Storm troopers start shouting and then they are swarmed by large greenish bugs with silvery wings. That look like huge hornets just painted a putrid green. Shivan gives a look back to Soont and Valeda, "You might want to back up!" she calls to them and motions with her gloved hands.

Valeda has her blaster raised, but the Stormtroopers know their jobs. When the hooded leader tells them to get back, the Lieutenant isn't one to argue. Back a couple of short, quick steps, she looks around quickly for other creatures to attack from the sides.

Or from behind.

She doesn't go into a fetal position, so, there's that, but Soont is clearly uneasy. She backs up a couple of steps as well as the Sith orders, looking around and muttering, "You'd think a flamethrower would do wonders here....or defoliation agent..." as she continues to look around nervously.

There IS a trooper that is coming up from the back. A large flamer in his hands as he navigates his way in front of the group and then opens fire into the swarm. Thankfully none of the group is caught on fire, but, there is a horrible cancophony of trilling that comes from the bugs that are now on fire.

They dive bomb a few of the troopers, but, in the end they start to drop like flies or smaller bugs. A few of them fly straight for Valeda and Soont, threatening only because they are on fire really.

"Or an air strike." the TIE pilot hisses. The air becomes a lot brighter... and hotter... and she half-ducks when the trooper lights up the jungle. And the bugs.

Valeda keeps her blaster out, at least until the bugs all flicker out into short, molten trails. She wrinkles her nose at the smell, turning her attention back to their leader. Well that's that.

Nope. The engineer gives up all semblence of courage, and hits the dirt as she gets divebombed by large, flaming insects. She waits until the sound of flamethrowers and sizzling bugs fades, before Soont picks her head up and looks around as if to confirm that the worst of it is over.

Soon there is just the sound of crackling coming from the bodies of the dead. Shivan gives a look to the ground and then one of the science officers that was with them comes forward, "Nara, please bag a few of this up for research purposes." she asks the lady. Then she turns to look at the others as the stormtroopers move forward to clear more growth. This time a little more carefully.

Shivan steps back towards Valeda and Soont, a gloved hand is offered from the robed woman to Soont, "They're gone for the moment." she tells her. Which meant it was safe to get up.

Valeda Mirn sticks with the 'for the moment' part of the explanation, and keeps her blaster out all the same. The Lieutenant does lower the weapon, at least. "With this much jungle there are BOUND to be bugs." she declares.

And other, nastier things, but there's no need to get the skittish engineer too excited.

Slowly Soont stands up, "Thank you, my Lady," she says to Shivan as she gets to her feet. She brushes off some of the muck that now covers her side and leg, with a fair amount of disgust. She frowns, but, for now, keeps her thoughts to herself as she steps around some of the smoldering insects.

"There are probably a lot of bugs." Shivan states. "It's no problem." she adds to Soont. "We will pull back for now, let the troopers work at clearing for us and then go from there. I would like a path for us to get through things and I am sure with flamethrowers and things that they will able to get that path made quicker if they don't have to worry on whether their commanders are in the back getting ravaged by bugs." she muses to that as she motions for them to turn around and head back.

Valeda Mirn jams the blaster back into its holster, giving the hooded leader a small nod of agreement. Besides, she isn't too fond of bugs, herself. "Very well." she replies, turning to stamp through the underbrush after Shivan. With Soont between them.
