Outrage: Zeddir's Fist part 2

Location: Zeddir's Fist
Participants: Dreman Bryce, Kylo Ren, Drath, Karys, Saanvi, Emma Starflare, Avery Ihala Kora and Hadrix Rol

Directed to its existence by on-site intelligence and engineers, the Vanguard and Knights attending have been tasked to be sent down a concealed shaft after its doors were blasted loose by engineer demolitions. It is unknown what will be found, but there are power cables detected by sensors in the walls and floor, cables that draw from the main reactor.

The halls are lit with strip lights that cast everything in a jaundiced yellow-amber. The first ten meters lead to a dome shaped chamber with terminals mounted against the walls and two hatchways, one directly across from the shaft passage and one leading to the right.

The ceiling of the dome displays a series of readout-holoscreens, some showing only static, others showing hazy figures pacing.

Drath centers his gravity as he brings his BlasTech E-11 blaster rifle to bear preparing the weapon for combat!

The barrel of the T-21 enters the room beyond the blown open doors only moments before the form of AV-1004 does, the Stormtrooper obviously hefting the weapon, the rifle not having gained sentience yet. Avery gazes around curiously, looking for any sign of life before he makes his way to one of the terminals that lines the walls. <<"This is AV-1004, checking the terminals for any useful info.>> The rookie slings the massive weapon over his shoulder and pulls a Datapad from his Utility Belt, threading wires from the pad to plug into the back of the machine. The First Order slicer goes to work, his eyes concentrated on the screen in front of him while his fingers fly over the controls.

Drath stalks down the shaft quietly, a force pike slung over one shoulder and his E-11 firmly within his grip. The thin visor of his crimson armor turns slowly as the squad enters into the domed chamber, a defensive, alert posture taken as his rifle is raised before him. Turning on the left side, the Trooper begins to make a circuit about the space, scanning to ensure the space is secure as he goes along. <<"DL-1991 here, comm check.">> is chirped over the radio as he goes about it. <<"Think this is some sort of holding facility?">>

Pistols out at ready, Karys is moving forward with the rest though the dome room presents itself with terminals. This has at least one pistol lowered back into a holster as she steps closer to get a look. As AV sounds out, KS does the same but moves to the other as there are two. She holsters her other pistol and ducks her her helmeted head to do so. A read out spits itself across the screen as she gets her terminal up and running. <<"It appears some quarantines and 'contained' access passage. Cells twelve through fifteen are sealed due to contagion warnings. Cells one through five are ready for tests. Cells six through eleven are partial failure, partial viability.">> She looks up then, glancing to command for further instructions. <<"Obviously suggest not opening twelve through fifteen.">>

With little fanfare, a figure dressed in black with a hooded cowl and a familiar black and chrome mask arrives in the shaft. Kylo's robes trail on the floor as he paces along at the rear of the Vanguard squad's formation, coming to a halt near the terminals where Avery is getting to work. "Perhaps it is," his processed, amplified voice remarks to Drath's speculation, the murky depths of his visor turning upwards to examine series of screens arrayed there. "An unusual configuration." Karys' report sheds some more light on the situation, and he nods in acknowledgment. "Then we will begin with cell one."

For all his education, Bryce didn't pay much attention when it came to science and systems designed to secure lives or keep them living. It wasn't his expertise. Flanking the Supreme Leader, Bryce follows with quick steps. His unusual mask is illuminated in a single slit at the level of his eye, which scans the area around them, for possible dangers. In his left hand, the glossy black lightsaber hilt of Anuesana's dances between his fingertips.

Avery peers at the readout on his datapad and turns to nod at Karys and the group as a whole. <<"Yeah, that's uh... I got all that too.">> The wires are detached and withdrawn, the pad itself switched off and replaced in the container that hangs from his belt before anyone can see the lack of information available on the viewscreen. The T-21 is unslung from his back and readied, the barrel steadied to point down the hallway toward the first of the cells to be examined. <<"AV-1004, moving into covering position.">> And he does so, shifting forward, ahead of the Supreme Leader, to bring his weapon to bear on the closed portal. <<"Ready when you are, Eighteen.">>

Drath nods to both Karys and Kylo, turning after performing a sweep of the space so he can join Avery in covering the door. <<"Copy that, let's get started.">> he chirps back, arranging himself on the side of the door opposite Avery and promptly angling his E-11 to point in the direction of said portal. It's like a game show! A deadly, deadly game show. <<"Ready when you are, Eighteen.">>

With the door locks up she just needs to key in the right sequence now. As the others ready her helmet turns to the Supreme Leader and gives a nod when he indicates which to open. Her hands reach out as she begins the process of readying Cell one. <<"Cell One, opening in three, two, one...">> She hits the sequence in and the readout on the screen blinks green 'OPEN'. She looks up then, her hand straying to her pistols to pull them free just in case the rest of the guard needs support. Her eyes train on the cell door from her position so that she can close it if need be.

Lights dim briefly and both sets of doors snap suddenly open, retracting into the walls. Much brighter, corp sector looking, lighting glares through the open portals, yawning black exits a good twenty meters distance. There looks to be some sort of open space between the curved halls.

There is no sound of whatever was opened, no animal sounds, but once the halls are inspected there is a space open holograms of cell dwellers, Cell 1 showing some sort of wookie, swollen to grotesque proportion, drooling greenish fluid over its chest. Similar sentients are in the uncontaminated cells, viable or partially, including rodian, sullustan, gamoeran, deshade, and even a Cragmoloid in one of the viable cells.

Behind the black screen, Kylo's eyebrows raise as his comment is interpreted as orders and all of a sudden the first cell is being opened. "Are you here for the prisoners?" he starts to ask, casting doubt on how thoroughly the Supreme Leader bothered to be briefed before making his way down in here with Bryce. It turns out not to be the actual cell doors, though, and he plows ahead into the hallway without asking for further clarification. "These are the uncontaminated specimens?" the man questions, indicating the clearly-diseased wookiee projected in the hologram image. "Your information appears out of date," remarked to Karys.

"I'm not familiar with toxins that would do that to a Wookiee," Bryce remarks, his one exposed eye visibly scanning the wookiee for signs of ... something. Some evidence. "Is that thing still alive?" Bryce asks, glancing backwards a moment to the Trooper with the con. his feet carry him out of Kylo's way, to view some of the other screens.

AV-1004 steps into the opened hallway door, scanning for any resistance while glancing at the holo-displays lined along the walls. He slows near one of the cell doors, a curious gaze given to the sickly green figure that appears even more gortesque in their tinted visors. <<"Uncertain...">> Is the only reply, the young rookie concentrating on the standing orders in any situation: maintain the Supreme Leader's safety and the safety of the Vanguard.

<<"We are here to investigate the source of this energy drain on the asteroid facility, Sir.">> Drath responds to Kylo's question, moving himself into said hallway once the door is opened so he can take a closer look at the contents. Pausing next to the first cell, Drath takes a moment to examine the hologram, before he steps forward to gaze at the next, then the next... <<"This appears to be a scientific experimentation facility, Sir. Orders?">> Drath intones, caught between previous 'orders' to open the first cell, and a general unsureness on what needs to be done. <<"Perhaps we should request the presence of a scientist?">>

<<"Perhaps hit is what they mean by ready for testing. They may have been prepared this way.">> Making a face inside her helmet she lowers her pistols, tucking them out of the way as she glances over at the Supreme Leader. <<"Not uncontaminated">> She checks the screen again and narrows her eyes. <<"No, it says ready for testing. It seems they had to get them ready with something.">> She makes a motion towards the display. Her hand comes back to her side as she shifts her weight on her feet. This is not her type of ball game and Drath's suggestion gets a faint nod from that helmeted head.

"The test may be to ascertain a cure for whatever this condition is," Kylo concludes along the same lines as the others, following the reveal of the test subjects. "Do not open the cells. We proceed further and look for more information. Failing that, I want every piece of this rock blown apart." Are there scientists handy? He doesn't know, but his mask turns to peer further down the passageway. "Let us see what can be found." And so he moves ahead, the T-shaped hilt on his hip tugged free into one hand.

"Prepared sounds like host, or carriers," Bryce says, following Kylo's lead. Big picture, that Kylo. That's why Bryce was detail-oriented. Big ideas weren't his life--Executing them was. "Relay for biochemical on site. Warn them that command is danger close, but yet unfontaminated," Bryce says quietly. His icy voice was fed through the vocoder and the last part seemed most important to him. He didn't want a burn unit torching him. Bryce falls into line beside Kylo, but to his unfavored side to attack from. In case the saber came to life.

Moving down the hallway and into the next room finds the Supreme Leader, his Knight and the Vanguard entering into a lab-space overlooking a small combat pit dug into the core of the asteroid and well lit. Displays on al fifteen cells stand on a long terminal table.

Of the 'contaminated' cells, there are displays of figures on the floor, throats swollen, tongues lolling, soaking in their own filth and mucus. They've been dead for several days according to the displays but they remain 'juicy'.

In the contained fighting pit, screaming unintelligibly, is the wookiee. Muscles practically tearing the skin, much of its hair missing, and periodically projectile vomiting green bile that hisses and smokes where it hits. Arms thrown wide it shrieks and slams its paws against its own head...

Orders given and the Vanguard obeys. AV-1004 shifts to fall in behind and to the right of Kylo as he stalks by, the massive LMG covering the right side of the corridor as the squad moves along towards their uncertain destination. One thing /is/ for certain, the rookie refuses to let anything out of his notice, keeping a constant sweep of their surroundings as they move, emerald eyes narrowed as he peers from behind his mask at the hallway of questions they've found their way into and then into the room of horribleness beyond. It's foruntate that they can't see his face behind the helmet as Avery scrunches up his features in disgust at the spectacle of the diseased and deranged wookie. What is seen is the shake of his helmet from side to side accompanied by a quiet voice that comes through the comms, <<"That just doesn't seem right.">>

Drath bobs his helmeted head, switching his comms to the wider band as he chirps over them for command. <<"Command, requesting biochem and scientific analysis team if present down here. No contamination present on Vaguard assets, over.">> Hanging back a moment to relay that message, Drath emerges into the room with said wookie shortly after Avery, a cursory glance about met with a rather direct gaze on the creature in the fighting pit below. <<"Yes, they're not usually that... Self-harming.">> Drath responds to Avery, implying they /are/ usually that violent, of course! And he's not one to speak about the green. Raising his rifle to train it on the potential threat, Drath nevertheless waits for instruction. It may not even become violent!

No more need for the terminal, Karys steps aside and pulls out her pistols. As they move through the facility she falls into step beside Drath and turns her helmeted head towards him. She gives some attention to their surroundings but it is eventually the sound of the Wookiee that draws her. As she get near she pauses to watch it slam its own paw against its head. Frowning a great deal inside her helmet she starts to take a step back way from the view. The itch to put it out of its misery is there but open fire could draw attention. Avery's comment causes Karys to look at him but she has no incoming quip for that obvious statement.

Down the hallway and wrapped in her armor, the Vanguard Warrant officer EM-1710 kept her rifle slung across her back, the carbine used for close quarters held at the ready as she makes her own half of the sweep. The blonde woman doesn't speak at first, silent and stealthy enough that one might wonder if she had been there at all until speaking had conjured her out of thin air. "This...thing is horrifying," she murmers, "Whatever did this to the creatures..." she pauses, looking down once more to check her chemseals on her armor once more before looking back to await command like the others.

IF ever there were a summoning phrase for the Nerd Resplendent it just well might be 'That Just Doesn't Seem Right'. Perhaps without the fanfare of holostars or statesmen Saanvi arrives loaded with gear looking exactly like she got the last Golden Ticket to the Wonka Factory. Horrors await and that look on her face shows she knows they'll be of the likes she's never seen! <<Eight Five inbound! Wait for me!>>

Who's to say the wookiee isn't having a good time in there? "Don't let any of that get on you," Kylo instructs, evidently unconcerned for the wookiee's welfare at the present time. Unsure of who Eight-Five is, he glances over his shoulder towards Saanvi's arrival. "Are you the analysis team? Find out what's happening here. Before I decide we're better off not knowing." At least this time no stormtroopers have been exposed yet. "Karys, open one up if she needs it. I want answers"

"Fire will cure it all the same," Bryce remarks, offering an invisible smirk towards the others, before he begins to trek forward and ahead of Kylo. "I miss the days when we just shot at each other--There's a purity in that," Bryce offers in a lower voice, meant more for Kylo, "This is weirder. More desperation."

Avery takes up a defensive position, setting up the T-21 on the rail and training it on the Wookie in case the thing enrages and makes a lunge for anyone with that crazy green goop it's got going on. <<AV-1004, ready for covering fire if need be.">> He watches the thing like a hawk, waiting for the command to open fire either in defense or to put the thing out of its misery.

<<"Copy, Sir.">> Drath intones back to Kylo, turning ocne inside of the space to begin out in an arc around the edge of the fighting pit. With the others coming in, he's able to briefly take his gaze off the wookie in the pit itself, glancing about the room for any other exits or clues as to the purpose of this experimentation while he's at it. <<"I can retrieve some firebombs from the surface if necessary. Setting some of those should do fairly well at clearing this space out." Provided it's not useful in some way! That's what Saanvi is here to determine, after all.

Saanvi darts and dodges past anyone in her way and drops her gear. Within less than three minutes she has a decontamination station set up and ready for use and then she is hastily wiggling into her biohazard suit, cheeks flushed and slate eyes bright, "Eighty-five ready for 'hot zone' analysis." Best not to think what she does on saturday nights if this is what gets her flustered. "No! No Burning! There is so much hard work represented here!" she adds <<How will we know the aim if we do not take a careful study of ALL evidence present?>>

"We don't have time for a careful study," Kylo replies tersely, shrugging and waving off Saanvi's concerns. "Work quickly." Bryce's words draw a quiet look from the masked face that hides his expression. "This is all they have left," he answers, the mask turning sharply to take in the surroundings in a little more detail. "Wild concoctions at the edge of the galaxy."

Bryce begins to try and sense the rest of the station--Asteroids weren't exactly a hot bed of population. But, the weird science angle these pirates had taken didn't exactly make him comfortable. It was time to find someone that could offer answers in exchange for their life. He goes to seek it out.

The wookiee stumbles about, looking at the figuresin the safety of the study lab, hooting and wailing in a manner that is clearly madness now. It gnashes its teeth, gritting them and spewing more of the smoking filth from its mouth.

Flexing an arm almost the size of Kylo on its own, the wookie charges the transparisteel wall, striking hard enough to make the entire panel wobble like gelatin and spray blood, mucus, and worse from mouth and nose.

On the holo-displays several of the other subjects look up at the boom. The ones marked viable begin screaming and slamming fists on their containment doors. The ones marked partially viable stand as well, but their movements are more robotic and jerky.

Saanvi moves to pull up the diagnostic read outs, she checks the medications and the status reports "OH. Oh.

<<"It's an option for clearing once we're done, at least.">> Drath chirps to the preference to avoid fire in this particular locale. <<"Once you've retrieved everything of value.">> They've performed biohazardous operations before, and it usually ends up either with a deep burning, or the complete destruction of a facility. The wookie slamming itself against the tempered glass causes Drath to spin around, his rifle coming up to train itself on the beast out of instinct as he takes a moment to inspect the glass. <<"Subject appears to be agitated.">>

Saanvi moves to pull up the diagnostic read outs, she checks the medications and the status reports "OH. Oh. Oh dear. Fascinating. Whoever did this is either quite oblivious to the potential catastrophe or is exceptionally eager to die in extremely unpleasant ways. There is simply no way ANY of this would end anything but very. VERY poorly." <>

"...It was a mistake to come here. I should have left this mission to you," Kylo announces to the Vanguard members, looking around at the others and replacing his lightsaber on the clip of his belt. "You are more than capable of completing it. Take all the time you need and see that these failed experiments are properly disposed of," he instructs to Saanvi and Drath in particular, the two judged most apt at identifying and disposing of aforementioned subject matter. With a last glance back over his shoulder at the wookiee beating against the containment area, he turns and strides back out of the hallway towards the shaft that led in here.

Emma was personally all for the 'burn this place down' option, but...that was truely just a personal preference. Her own gun lifts, watching the glass suspiciously. The wookie had been hitting it awfully hard after all. Bio-hazard processing and chemistry wasn't really the sniper's specialization, she was a soldier and a killer. As the Supreme leader departs? She offers a salute in his parting before exhaling a breath. "Sooner, rather than later."

"Fire is looking more and more like an option with every minute," Bryce remarks as Kylo takes his leave. That was his way. Making his way back to the Vanguard squad, he watches the Wookiees as they attempt to breach containment. "Check your seals," he warns.

The wookiee slams itself against the glass again and again, one of its arms breaking between wrist and elbow, and it doesn't seem to hesitate despite the continued damage as its splintered bone suddenly tearing free, the swollen, overly muscled paw flopping before the skin rips and it sails, spinning, through the air, slapping into the sand.

Saanvi directs Avery to back up the data he can and she moves to properly secure samples as well as come of the less familiar medications and of course-cultures of the pathogens, securing everything in a durasteel locking case for safe transport <<With Avery safeguarding the digital data and my securing the physical data there is nothing further that I have need of here>> Burn baby, Burn.

<<"Copy, Eighty-Five.">> Drath acknowledges once the task is completed. As for Kylo, it really wouldn't do for the Supreme Leader to become infected with some strange virus, and as such Drath only gives back a "Yes, Sir." to Kylo's instructions before he departs. Reaching down to pop open a compartment of his utility belt, Drath begins to remove aforementioned firebomb explosives from the compartments, and after stowing his E-11, the Trooper begins to move around to the more vulnerable spots of the structure to set them. <<"It may be easier to blow apart the entire asteroid." he jokes while he goes about his task.

<<"Yes, Ma'am.">> Comes the reply from AV-1004 as he moves to one of the nearby data terminals and plugs his Datapad in, hesitant glances over at the raging monstrousity that is literally tearing itself apart in front of their eyes. Just to be sure, he unbuckles the release on the pistol attached at his thigh, in case he needs a quick weapon at his disposal. <<"Hell, let's dust this entire rock and get out of here... the less that remains of this evil place, the better, in my opinion.">> A beep from his plugged in device alerts him to the start of the data transfer and he gives a glance over his shoulder to the rest of the squad with a thumbs up and a nod.

Saanvi hastily secures the samples and muses to Drath <<Blasting it could scatter contaminated fragments into all directions. It could be creating future problems on planets which might seem distance from where we are now>> she advises in a calm voice as if this were sheerly hypothetical.

<<"That's true, Eighty-Five. Probably best to just collapse this section.">> Drath chirps back over the comms. Taking his time to connect each explosive device to the first detonator, Drath then begins to go back over the structure with a different type of explosive, attaching them to support beams and important structures within the area. <<"Once data has been retrieved, retreat down the entry hatch. I'm going to set this up to blow after the fire does its job.">> he explains, pulling out a second detonator to key to the second round of explosives he works on placing.

There is another rumble and a slamming sound from one of the larger doors entering into the arena that the lab overlooks. The mutated, and partially disarmed, wookiee screams again, chest hitching and then spewing green filth mixed with blood over the transparisteel panel allowing the lab to view. It scream again, teeth clenched - the spray only becoming a macabre misting before it turns and screams at the pounding, the stump limb of its right forearm not even bleeding any more.

On the displays, the craglomoid is punching its cell door with a fist the size of mono-cylces. It trumpets and something sprayed from its trunk blocks the camera a moment before a wiping mehanism engages. The other test subjects join in anew, the screams and roars becoming audible through transparisteel wall.

Avery stares at the Datapad screen, willing the feed of the download to go faster. <<"Come on... come on... COME ON!">> He mutters with furtive glances at the macabe display that's happening in the fighting pit. His free hand sinks to the blaster pistol at his side, emerald eyes peering at the unopened portals around them, wary in case one of them decides to pop open randomly and try to catch the Vanguard unaware. <<"I've got a bad feeling about this.">>

Saanvi situates alll her crates and gear on her person and on the dolly and wastes no time in trotting her way back to where the primary entry to this section is, "Is this not something that can be continued remotely?"

<<"First of all, saying you've got a bad feeling about something tends to make something bad happen more often.">> Drath teases to Avery over the comms, as he moves out of the lab portion and into the hallway where the cells are kept. <<"And no, not if we want to ensure precision with keeping this contained.">> That said, Drath eyes the door that something fairly large and angry is beating against, reaching behind him with a hand and redrawing his E-11 in one hand as he goes about setting up detonite all down the cell block hallway. <<"Charges are set, Avery I'm gonna need you to seal the door to the test cells, and then seal the doorway to the lab we came in from before I blow these.">>

The firebombs go off, but something doesn't go right. One of the demolitions tilts as it goes off and sprays accelerant and ignighter onto a console which sparks and lets out a long BUUUWOOOOOOOOMMMMP sound. F I N E S S E. Several of the cell doors open, viable subjects only, luckily, and they all meet in the middle of the arena, screaming and spewing filth over one another.

The largest of the doors slams down, blown off its hinges and a pachyderm species creature screaming and trumpeting at the same time before it lurches towards the transparisteel panel that had begun to crack from the heat... and the mutated alien bursts right through it, charging down the hall and leaving the others to their own business in the arena...

Saanvi blinks and watches all this dumbfounded, "OH, this is extraordinarily bad." she muses a bit breathlessly and opts to run rather than to free arms by dropping something!

A second beep on the Datapad announces the transfer is complete and the rookie Stormtrooper wastes no time in unplugging the Datapad and stowing the device in his utility belt. <<"Data acquired! Give me a second on these cells doors and I'll access the main doorway when I come down there with you two.">> He remarks, snapping the buckle on the blaster at his side and shifting the massive T-21 within reach in case something goes terribly wrong with locking the cell doors. With a deep breath taken, Avery goes to work on the console, slicing into the system to shut down the cell doors and seal the portals, preventing anything from escaping its confines.

A boom and shower of sparks causes the trooper to throw up his arm, shielding his face as he dodges to the side, his mission of securing the doors lost as they each pop open and spew forth their occupant. <<"Well... shit.">> He calls as he begins retreating toward the other two, his weapon brought to bear and red hot rounds of blaster fire sent screaming down the hall toward the enraged beast. His hasty exit throws off his aim, the bolts sizzling into the wall near the charging beast.

Saanvi blinks and watches all this dumbfounded, "OH, this is extraordinarily bad." she muses a bit breathlessly and opts to run rather than to free arms by dropping something! (sorry didn't mean to skip).

As the others gather their data, Drath goes about setting off the thermal explosions, though they don't exactly go as planned! Twisting up his face in displeasure, Drath glances around the hallway as the creatures start to break out into the arena, a <<"Kriff.">> coming over his comms as he turns and starts back down the hallway towards the entrance. <<"It's fine, just get the last door ready to lock down as soon as I'm through!">> Drath calls out, turning and two-handing his E-11 as he releases a hail of blaster fire back down the hallway, scoring a hit on the creature before he turns and takes off towards the next doorway.

That Cragmoloid exciting, for sure. Spraying goo from its trunk that sizzles and burns, glopping out in the direction of Avery as it stands and hollers unintelligibly at him. Oh, that Cragmoloid is also adventure.

There's no glamour or glitter here though, nor fashion, or fame. No. The thing has a collar on, and hanging from it a tag with a series of numbers and the name 'Jem' in galactic basic. Which one may have to admit is pretty outrageous. In fact, one could say it's truly outrageous. Truly. It takes the shots from Drath in the chest, unaware of the blasts from Avery as it screams again, trumpeting filth from its trunk once more.

Avery hoists the T-21 and turns to sprint down the hallway towards his mates, wishing to take up a defensive position closer to the main doors. Unfortunately he only gets a few steps away before he's splattered by acid and sent sprawling into the wall by the scorching pain that tears through his arm. The slicer stumbles aand braces against the wall, the massive rifle brought down nearly point blank to open fire into the hideous creature. "Get away from me!" AV-1004 calls out through the speaker system in his helmet, more goo raining down to sizzle away his armor. The young man screams in horror as his armor melts along with flesh and bone beneath it, yanking the trigger on his weapon before shock sets in.

Saanvi is forced to drop some of her crates to pivot and run towards Avery, <<Medic inbound!>> she announces as she fogs up the mask of her bio hazard suit with the sudden exertion, skidding to a stop and whipping out medical gear in rapid-draw fashion as she staunches bleeding, gives him a shot of something to protect him from contaminants, and patches up the wound.

Drath grits his teeth as the creature seems to target Avery, the Trooper bringing his rifle back up while it's distracted and firing numerous rounds into its back, sizzling into the flesh and causing some rather severe wounds to it. <<"We need to extricate. Eighty-Five, if he can stand, continue egress as soon as possible.">> he calls out, keeping his ground as the medic works on Avery's wounds in an attempt to keep him in the fight.

Lets hope the mutant mucus isn't contagious, that would be truly outrageous. Jem takes shot after shot, flesh and muscle burning, mad eyes wheeling in their sockets before it turns suddenly to Drath. Yes, the Cragmoloid - Jem is its' name, but by science nothing else is the same.

The Vanguard? They're misfits, their aim is better, they're gonna get her. But not if Jem has anything to say about it. The beast lurches and vomits all over itself, trunk flailing wildly as it slams fists into the walls, trying to close in on its prey.

Hows that explosive timer?

Avery grits his teeth against the searing pain, literally dragging himself backward down the hallway with his good arm, trying to get away from the creature as it disintegrates his armor and his flesh. Suddenly Saanvi is there and applying something that is helping, the wounds are closing and a measure of fight slips back into the trooper. It won't fix his armor but he's able to get up and take aim one more time, limping and stumbling away toward the door control panel, his T-21 firing off random shots back at the gnarly thing as they retreat.

Saanvi helps by hauling Avery too his feet then bracing one arm over his shoulder, "Right, leg, Right, we will move more efficiently if we move in tandem." she tries to glance over her shoulder as if even now contemplating the fate of those samples she took.

Drath weaves and bobs around the cragmoloid, keeping himself away from the acid and the mighty limbs of the being. The hit by Avery throws it off guard, allowing Drath to slip beneath an arm to fire numerous rounds through the softer tissues. As he slides back towards the door, he keeps the suppression fire up, eventually managing a lethal hit to the creature's head as he passes through the next door. <<"Close it! The explosives are going off any second.">> he calls over the comms, regardless of Avery's wounds. Important things are important!

Head cored through, Jem stands a moment, hollering unintelligibly. It's a lethal strike, but her body doesn't know it. Blundering forward the mutated freak slams its fists against walls, shattering holo-emitters and pristine white science lab plating. Trailing blood and acidic bile before it slams down onto its knees, pulling itself forward with its hands before it tumbles, landing face down on the ground.

As the vanguard gets clear, the door-blocks set up by engineering sealing, a staccato burst of collapse charges goes off. The asteroid base shaking as stone and super-structure for the secret lab are blown free, sending stones tumbling down to crush and destroy the equipment and the freaks fighting in the lab and the arena, some alight from being thrown into the fluids of the fire bombs.

<<"Squad Lead to investigation force">> Hadrix's voice cuts in, the sounds of screaming, blaster fire, and the roar of his plasma flamer spewing in the background, <<"What in space just happened down there, Ninety One??">> The big guy is elsewhere. Playing war. Lucky?

The barrel of the T-21 drops to the floor, dragging along behind the pair as they limp and stumble along toward Drath's position. When they reach the hangar and round the corner Avery slips from her grasp to lean against the wall next to the door controls, heavy coughs wracking his chest as he fumbles with the locking mechanism. On the edge of shock, white hovering on the outskirts of his vision, his fingers mash at the pad, trying to shut the system down and seal the doors before the explosion goes off. Thankfully his fingers move on autopilot, even with the tremors, and the doors seal shut in succession, until finally the door they just passed through snaps shut with a hiss. The rookie wobbles on his feet, peering at the other two for commands, his rifle being used as a crutch.

Saanvi remains bracing Avery <<Indeed. We should vacate immediately I cannot adequately secure his airway in our current position. Does anyone see a clear evac route?>>

Drath nods in thanks to Avery as he goes about sealing off the last door, the man pressing the last charge on the detonator and causes some dust to shake free from the floor of the hangar with it. The door blinks red for a moment, then a solid red, indicating complete structural damage behind it. <<"Copy that, Lead. Just some biohazard containment.">> Drath chirps back over the comms to Hadrix. <<"Scientific and technical data was retrieved. You an see the details from our embedded cams later.">> Giving a nod to Saanvi, Drath turns and starts towards the fire station. <<"Recommend we move this firebase to a more offensive position. Defense of passageway no longer necessary. You alright back there?">>

The melted armor hangs from Avery's chest and arms, most of the protection having been sizzled away by the acid puke of that outrageous beast.
