There's a mission, it's a briefing, grab a codename!

OOC Date: June 11, 2021
Location: Plympto
Participants: Avery Ihala Kora (Override), Hahtavi (Basilisk), Hadrix Kora (Akk-Dog), Jax Greystorm (Corsair), Nerys Greystorm (Jetpack), Valeska Jaivon (Naga)

[ Nerys Greystorm (Nerys)]

The contract pings had all been handled on the holonet. The messages had all been handled on the holonet, following an encrypted pattern which had been delivered to each of the potential contractees. No names had been asked for, no names had been given. All missives had been signed with a single word. "Jetpack'. The meeting place was an old, rather disused farmstead on Plympto. Not so disused that the groundcover had reclaimed the land and the trek was hard, but far enough from prying eyes that a secret meeting could be, well, secret. Take that Elrond!

The approach to the farmhouse was quiet, peaceful almost, only the sounds of calling birds and ground dwelling animals breaking the silence. The farm itself looked in decent enough repair, and the door was left open. Within, there was a long dining table, and a few scattered chairs. Sitting, not in one of the chairs, but on the table itself, was a figure of no appreciable size, dressed in black on black void armor, complete with visored helmet. One hand rested on the wood of the table, the other was wrapped around the slim brightly silver metal length of a spear.

[ Avery Ihala Kora (Avery)]

Avery can appreciate a serene locale, after having spent many of the last weeks on Mandalore, anything that is green, peaceful, and with wildlife that wasn't out to kill you was very pleasant. He had been alerted to the mission by Valeska and, always down to exact some revenge on the First Order, gladly has signed up. Data had been exchanged and it all lead to this farmhouse. As such, first through the door comes Avery in silver Mandalorian Armor, his Y-visored helmet turning from side to side cautiously... he doesn't expect any sort of treachery but, when in this galaxy, not expecting that sort of thing is the exact sort of thing to get oneself killed until dead.

He steps to the side once he enters, hands free of weaponry though he does have a pistol strapped to his thigh, and a couple of rifles slung over his back. The dark figure sitting on the table gets an up-nod before his notice shifts around the room, mainly looking for others that may be hiding in the dark or exits that need be marked in case of a need to rapidly debark. <"Howdy."> Comes the voxcoder voice from the silver helmet, though mostly emotionless one would swear they could hear the grin hidden beneath that helm.

[ Valeska Jaivon (val)]

It was all a bit hard for her to follow. The coded messages. The encrypted coordinates. The code names. She was never good with all that covert stuff. But the job seemed both promising and rewarding. How could she pass up on that? Once discovered, the jobs spread like wildfire amongst some of the other armoured clan and now about four of them are entering together. Fashionably late? Annoyingly early? Boring-ly on time?

Coming in with the others, Valeska simply follows along: her helmet silent as it swivels from one side to the other. Even as Avery speaks, the smaller female Mandalorian remains stiff and still. Also without a weapon but certainly wearing a few, she keeps off to the side. And waits, the Y-visor looking at the figure at the table.

[ Jax Greystorm (Jax)]

As the Mandalorians arrived, an Armored figure with his own T-visor helmed face watches the arrival through a pair of microbinoculars built into the helmet of his clone commando armor. He was hidden from a vantage point from the second floor. As the Mandolorians arrive, his tongue hits the small switch in his helmet to activate it's com unit on Irregular frequency, << This is Corsair. They've arrived. Nothing we didn't expect. Let me know when you want me come down stairs. You might annouce to them I'm coming out too. No need to make them overly nervous. One them knows who I am when wearing this armor. >> The binocs are raised to the top of his head. There was no need for surprises.

Jax reaches out to the force finding it and pulling it to himself doing nothing more than letting it flow through him and he relaxes. Then simply waits for Jetpack to give the word. He moves quietly to the stair way.

[ Hadrix Kora (Had)]

Hand resting on the grip of a hand blaster, Hadrix slips from shadow to shadow on approach to the farmhouse. Melting close enough once sure, or at least as sure as he can be. Shifting along like oil on water until entering after Valeska and Avery, helmet on maintaining his general state of quiet readiness.

A nod is given to Nerys upon entry, <"Su cuy."> said simply - coded messages and care were being taken, names likely not something to be bandied about.

<"Curious choice to meet - that clandestine, eh?">

[ Nerys Greystorm (Nerys)]

"Welcome. Thank you for coming." The voice was also modulated, but had the strains of a female inflection, "I am Jetpack." Said the figure who was not, in point of fact, wearing a jetpack, unlike quite a few who had made their way to the farmhouse. Not even a pair of rocket boots. For shame! "You are...whomever you decide to be today. And for the duration of this mission, should you choose to accept it." Take that Tom Cruise! "You may feel free to use the codenames you chose for yourselves during our communication, or decide on a new one today. If you will give us a moment, Corsair will be with us shortly." There was a pause, as she looked from armored figure to armored figure, her internal comms clicking on, "Come down, Corsair. It will be fine. One of them knows me too." Positive thoughts, Jetpack, Positive thoughts!

Once it seemed that all who might be coming were indeed here, Jetpack nodded, "We are all of us plausibly deniable. Each mission is off the books, there is no backup, there is no retrieval, there is no negotiation. If we are captured by the First Order, or any of their agents, there will be no rescue except what we effect ourselves. The Irregulars, the group to which you are contracting, do not exist in the eyes of the Republic, or anyone."

[ Avery Ihala Kora (Avery)]

He does note the distinct lack of jetpack on Jetpack and is about to comment on it before his attention is taken by something quite a bit more important... <"Code names! I don't think I've ever had a code name before!"> The silver Mandalorian says with almost too much enthusiasm for wearing that armor. <"Oooooooh now I need to pick one. Oh that's the tough part... do we have to pick right now or can I let you know by the end of the meeting?"> Avery asks, the tone still excited but the question is definitely serious.

He goes silent for a few moments before the vox kicks on again and his voice transmits once more, <"Ok yeah, definitely going to need a few minutes... as for the rest of all that, it doesn't sound like it's too different from our normal day to day."> He admits with a glance over at the other two heavily armored individuals with him.

[ Valeska Jaivon (val)]

The crimson Doomseeker helmet tilts curiously towards the silver Mandalorian next to her. First Order killin' didn't need real names. Just real guns, but the idea of no retrieval has Valeska turning towards Hadrix. He always made it a major sticking point that no man would be left behind. Now she wonders, silently of course, if that will settle well with his own nature.

Opting to stay close to the door, Valeska offers a nod towards Jetpack. She's never had the opportunity to go after the First Order after she ran away from the ample opportunities before. What a golden opportunity now to be a thorn in their side along with some others who---

Avery's excited chittering earns a quick, not-so-subtle jab of Valeska's elbow into his side.

[ Hadrix Kora (Had)]

<"If the target is the First Order, then they'll likely recognize me by the manner in which I fight."> Hadrix offers after a moment's thought. <"Code names should be simple enough if they're required. And as for no extraction... The New Republic or the Irregulars may not mount any sort of rescue... that doesn't mean we won't."> there's almost a grin in the voice distorted by vocalizers, though the grating stone on ice with its coreward lilt needn't much to shift it.

<"And if the Order thinks they can corner or capture any of us, I'll give them a war they wouldn't believe. So what is your job, what are we destroying?"> one hand casually making to rest on Valeska's shoulder, for just a moment before it moves to hook a thumb into his combat webbing anew.

[ Jax Greystorm (Jax)]

Jax comes stepping down the stairs and into the room and comes to stand next to Nerys. His arms cross as he looks over the Mandolorians. << Not all operations are against First Order targets. Not all operations are legal. I'm Corsair. All gear is supplied by each contractor. Some operations do not require actual violence. THough it is often the case unfortantely. >>

[ Nerys Greystorm (Nerys)]

There was a tilt of Jetpack's head, as she looked towards Avery's silver-armored form, and there was almost amusement in her voice, or would have been, if not for the vocorder which gave it a harsh quality, "You may think it over. The operation is not for a few days yet. But to be clear, we do not use our names. Codenames only." Once Corsair had come down to join them, Jetpack, glanced momentarily his way, before she looked back to the group. "Then, I would suggest that if they recognize you, that you do them the courtesy of making certain that they do not recognize anything ever again." Again, that bit of humour, but there was a heaviness in the words, "I did not say that the Irregulars would not extract us, we protect our own. Simply that we do not expect support from any government or military. And then, as they came to it, "We are not destroying anything. We have been tasked with setting up the first of a series of listening posts on Corellia. As close to the First Order lines as we can set it. We will have flight in, overwatch while we work, and extraction as soon as we have accomplished the mission. If we should happen to encounter resistance, we will deal with it." She gave them a moment before she continued, "If you choose to step away from the mission now, for whatever reason, you will be paid for your time and you may be on your way."

[ Avery Ihala Kora (Avery)]

<<"Ow...">> Avery mumbles, his right hand slipping over his chest to massage at the spot bruised by her elbow. His chatter ceases and his head tilts back to Jetback to listen and watch, though the darkened Y-visor would betray nothing of where his eyes actually pointed. There is a head tilt toward Corsair when he arrives, the eyebrow lifting hidden by the previously mentioned silver helmet. <"I doubt they'd recognize me unless we engage and I miss everything I shoot at."> the voxcoder comments, a little rise and fall of his chest with a quiet chuckle.

A nod comes when she details the mission, his hand leaving his side to lift in a slight wave. <"I am a Slicer as well..."> At this Avery points to the UCI incorporated with his armor, the datajack wire clearly visible on the underside of his gauntlet. <"...Do you have need of those services as well or are we all just expected to be the muscle to back up the set up?"> At the mention of stepping away from the mission, his head jerks back in surprise, a glance given to the other three before swiveling back to the two Irregular representatives. <"I don't think backing out was ever an option for us.">

[ Valeska Jaivon (val)]

<"I'm here to stick it in the First Order's craw,"> the crimson armour states matter-of-factly, finally joining the conversation on a helpful level. Another nod acknowledges Corsair as he arrives as she steps up towards the table. <"If that means providing back up to a skirmish that doesn't materialize, great. If that means laying each one of them out to rot out of their armour, even better.">

She raises a hand palm out to steady the other two figures on the other side of the table. Her other takes it's time resting on handle of the DL-30 at her hip. Pulling it out then holding it unthreateningly by the barrel, the crimson-paiting Mandalorian places it on the table. A blaster that Corsai would find incredibly familiar, but she wouldn't know that.

<"Naga,"> introduces the modulated voice. <"You can call me Naga.">

[ Hadrix Kora (Had)]

<"Corsair mentioned contractor supplied equipment, you're not going to tell us we have to wear some aruetii plates and not proper beskar'gam. Our armor is as much tools and weapons as armor. But I can provide a wide variety of services both front and back line."> Hadrix adds once Avery and Val have said their piece.

<"If we must have code-names, Akk-Dog can suffice.">> stone still save for the slight bob of his helmet when he speaks, <"Spy posts shouldn't be hard to help set up. It's just keeping them hidden that can lend itself to difficulty."> drifting back to quiet to listen further, like a stormcloud hovering at the shoulders of the other mandalorians.

[ Hahtavi (Haht)]

The one who hasn't said anything at all stands near to Hadrix, the opposite side of Valeska and Avery. His own armor is black with muted dark green and coppery brown accents. The armor looks well used and scuffed with what looks like ... bite marks and dents? Jetpack, rifle slung over his back, and a juvinilte kimogila skin cloak.

Hahtavi has been listening, studying 'Jetpack' and now 'Corsair' as well. While others speak, he continues to add nothing, a faint movement of his own helm and his backside parked against the wall, arms folded causually over his chest.

[ Nerys Greystorm (Nerys)]

"Perhaps not," Jetpack noted to Avery, "But the offer is always made. Everyone who chooses to work for us, whether they are one of us, or they contract with us is given a choice. And," she noted for Avery in particular, "Your skills will be quite useful. We will need to not only set up the equipment, but create an encryption field that will hide the listening station from their scans." As Naga came forward to place her weapon on the table, the hand holding the spear gave a quick flick of the wrist, the spear telescoping down into a slim baton, which she reached down to maglock to the left thigh of her armor. At Akk-Dog's question, "You may wear what armor suits you, and carry what weapons you prefer. You are the contractor. We will supply the equipment required for the station as well as the dropship and cover support. If we can set up more than one, better for us, but one will be enough to be getting on with."

[ Avery Ihala Kora (Avery)]

<"Oooooh that's a good one...."> Avery grumbles as Valeska comes up with her codename. <"Kriff... that's cool too!"> once Hadrix gives his. He's having a dickens of a time coming up with his own nickname. Something neat, something that has to do with programming, software... uuuuumm.... He snaps his fingers and points at the two on the opposite end of the table. <"Zero Cool! No... Crash Override! No wait... just 'Override'."> he concludes, giving a concise nod before dropping his arm back to his side. <"Yeah.... 'Override'"> Arms cross over a silver chest and he settles back in a more relaxed pose, continuing to listen to the briefing.

He nods to her assertion that his skills will be handy once they set up the station. <"Will be glad to help."> stated simply, looking back and forth between the movement of weapons before his hands cross over his chest once again. There's not much more that he needs to ask or comment on, the Y-visor shifting to look at those around him for a moment before returning to the Irregulars.

[ Valeska Jaivon (val)]

The symbolism executed properly, Naga slips her blaster back into its holster and takes several steps away from the table to rejoin the other Mandalorians. It takes every ounce of her willpower not to facepalm her own visor as Override settles on his name in the most rambly way possible. <"We have got to work on your delivery, Override. I mean, really."> Akk-Dog is in... whatever Akk-Dog means. Now it's up to the Dreadfinder to make his own decision.

[ Hahtavi (Haht)]

It's just as well that Hahatavi is wearing a helm so they can't have seen him roll his eyes at Avery. If he'd been closer he might have elbowed his brother to shut the frak up. But Hadrix is in between them and if Hadrix isn't annoyed by it, he keeps his own patience - as well as his silence until the others have come up with their various code names. <"I don't care what you call me."> He shrugs, throws something out randomly, <"Call me... Bes'uliik."> If that's not too hard for them to remember. <"Basilisk, if that's easier for you.">

[ Hadrix Kora (Had)]

<"If you wish I can be in the field ahead of time, I'm an excellent guerilla. Otherwise I can be fielded at appointed times.">> Hadrix notes - staring at Avery for a moment.

Staring at him. Solidarity. Show solidarity in front of the outsiders.

There is a long turn of the head though towards Hahtavi, as if he might share his pain with the other before looking back for Jetpack and Corsair anew. No other words spoken, lest he is spoken to first.

[ Jax Greystorm (Jax)]

Corsair had remain quiet as Avery rolls through his various codenames. Then he finally says, <<Just pick one for the mission, you do a second use the other one. Change midmission and it'll probably confuse the Intel officers reading reports. They'll probably start giving us Aurebesh letters as code names.>> Jax reaches out for Naga's Dl-30. << May I?>> Then he picks it up testing the weight of the blaster. << Good blaster, I've often used a Dl-30 like it, till I misplaced it.>> Then back on the table, << Probably best we go in and out together. Intel points to General Greystrom being extra prickly at the moment.>>

[ Nerys Greystorm (Nerys)]

Jetpack nodded to Basilisk, "That, I would prefer. Out of respect for that storied language, I will not butcher it with my attempts." And then, she nodded to Corsair, "We go in together, we get out together. All of us." So that was settled, "The mission will be in three days time. We will coordinate a pickup location for the rendezvous. Something in Corsair's comment brought her helmeted gaze back in his direction, "I was under the impression that that was her standard mode of operation." But, back to the team (Yay team!) "Any questions?"

[ Avery Ihala Kora (Avery)]

<"We'll just go with Override."> Avery states before going quiet. His arms uncross for a hand to clasp the other's wrist, idly watching the interaction between the lot of them. His head swivels from the Mandalorians to the Irregulars, casually shifting his weight from one foot to the other as discussions of weapons and further information of their mission is given. When she finishes the silver helmet turns from one side to the other. <"No questions.">

[ Valeska Jaivon (val)]

Naga is staring at Corsair -- you can tell because the helmet hasn't moved -- her hand once more resting on the DL with loose fingers. Nothing is being drawn. Promise, promise. <"It's done me well. Hope you find yours."> The comm clicks off again and she joins the iron brigade in silence: allowing their fearless second-in-command do most of the talking.

Well, no. Overdrive has done /most/ of the talking, but Akk-Dog will take care of the official stuff. All the same, Naga puts a hand on Override's shoulder with a few wordless pats. <"I've none, as well.">

[ Hahtavi (Haht)]

'Basilisk' shifts his weight slightly, his baritone to rumble through his vocoder, <"Before mission we'll have access to terrain maps, technical details for equipment, LZ' for exfil, and time frame?"> Details of which they don't require right here and now but will be good to have by the time they put boots on the ground. He directs his question to both 'Corsair' and 'Jetpack' but mostly towards the latter. <"Knowing what /kind/ of listening we are to be doing would be helpful, vs say, recon on the move?">

[ Hadrix Kora (Had)]

If he had questions Hadrix's lips are sealed when Hahtavi makes his inquiries, but he does posit an answer to one, <"I expect the less we know beforehand, the less that can be intercepted unintentionally. Standard infil, prep, exfil op with potential terminations."> Then silence again the only movement being breathing and the flick of the red glow behind his visor.

[ Jax Greystorm (Jax)]

<< More so than normal.>> Corsair answers on the temper of the General. Though as Basilisk asks questions. He turns his helmed head to regard the two more chatty of the team. He lets Akk-Dog and Jetpack answer Basilisk's questions.

[ Nerys Greystorm (Nerys)]

"You will receive the mission parameters along the same coded channels. We will have enough time before the mission begins to debrief, and plan the optimal route for infiltration as well as the location of the station. We won't know what we will be looking at in terms of patrols and potential troop movements until we are on the ground. But I have no doubt we will make due on the move." Jetpack, finally, dropped down from the table, which did not do her any favours in the height department (Take that Tom Cruise, the Sequel!). "Payments will be delivered to your accounts just prior to mission start. Welcome to the Irregulars. If only on a temporary basis."

[ Avery Ihala Kora (Avery)]

<"Sounds fairly standard, nothing we're not familiar with."> 'Override' states after glancing over at the crimson armored woman who placed her gauntlet on his shoulder. <"Are we trying to be silent if engaged or does it matter if things explode?"> Not that he'll be able to blow anything up but there are those he's acquainted with who are.

[ Hahtavi (Haht)]

'Akk Dog, also known as 'Plan Besh' among themselves, gets a brief look. Then 'Corsair' and finally 'Jetpack' as she explains. Her answer satisfies 'Basilisk' and he gives a nod, <"Understood."> Long as these people seem to know what they are doing and will provide the information they'll require to do their jobs well, he's quite content. Another grimace for Avery. Hahtavi has no further questions or comments.

[ Valeska Jaivon (val)]

Naga crosses her arms over her chest, her head down as she listens to the conversation continue. There's not much else she can add to the discussion so instead she does her best to commit the new names to memory and try to envision this mission's over-arching goal. It's definitely not mercenary work and for that, she is quite happy about. This was something bigger and more substantial. Oh, she does hope a few hapless trooper try to interrupt them. Maybe they can put a bottle of the good stuff up for grabs for whoever downs the most.

Ah, but we're getting ahead of ourselves.

[ Jax Greystorm (Jax)]

<< Perhaps best to settle that on a case by case basis, Crash Override.>> Corsair says looking to Jetpack and then back to the Mandolorians. << Good meeting. Safe travels.>> He figure his usual farewell would not be appropriate at this time.

[ Nerys Greystorm (Nerys)]

While many did not have questions, jetpack took the time to answer the ones which were posed to her. "The directive is to slip in as quickly and as quietly as possible. To set up in a location that will not draw attention, and not to draw attention to ourselves. Anything else would defeat the purpose of the mission. So, no grenades. No guided missiles. No flamethrowers." Was she joking? Probably not. If we encounter resistance, we'll eliminate it. But we'll do it quietly. Or, at least as quietly as possible." And then, a nod, to the new team and to Corsair, "You know how to reach us if you need us."

[ Avery Ihala Kora (Avery)]

<"Sounds good. Thanks for meeting us."> 'Override' needs to get something quiet to use it seems. At Corsair's goodbye and Jetpack's final words, he nods and looks to the rest of the Mandalorians. A sweep of his visor before he turns to step out into the bright and sunny fields beyond.

[ Hahtavi (Haht)]

'Basilisk' gives the Irregulars contacts a curt nod of his helm, then turns to wait for the others to file out. He rides drag himself, making sure they leave no traces behind of their presence here.
