Jedi: Droid Bay

OOC Date: March 21, 2022
Location: Kulma System
Participants: Qutha Buvu Pah,, Vega, Rey and Ax

The ride down in the lift was uneventful. Beyond there being another dead Stormtrooper laying in one of the corners of the lift. The armor askew on the body that no longer fits it properly inside it... Rey didn't look at that, she just kept her eyes forward.

When the lift arrived at the droid level, the doors whisked open and Rey just stepped outside....

The droid level consisting of a long dark corridor, that is in emergency power mode... Only a few of the lighting strips are illuminated along the pylons that make up the sections of the corridor...

Off the lift, REy looks to those with her. "Droid bays typically met the needs of the capital ship. I was always told they had similar layouts, but the rooms themselves served different purposes based on the assignments the Destroyers were to be sent out upon." She explains to the other Jedi with her.

"We'll search the rooms, see what we can find... We were told they 'woke' the Sentinel Prime up when this ship was first searched by the salvage crew from Fondor. Since it was a droid, well... this seems like the right level to check first." She says with a light exhale following her words.

Still glad for the force granted acuity of vision to let him move without fear of tripping, bashing into anything, or becoming lost should the few lights go out, Qutha keeps the saber hilt in hand while following Rey, listening, brows creased,

"S'like keeping a machine depot organized. Water droids, lift movers, pick haulers. Each plot kept as needed in the order needed." lips drawing into a thin line and his head on a swivel, the Zelosian makes his best attempts to keep at Rey's flank. "So we're gonna see ifn' we can find usselves a means to... what? Figger out this Sentinel Prime's system? Find a loophole or backdoor in the programin' so's that we can shut 'em down?"

Head lifting, eyes widening a little, he searches ahead for what small bit that he can before a "Bother..." manages to escape him.

Vega's quietly went along with the droid bay group given where her expertise lies. She might have been good on the bridge...but she was probably better off here. She keeps her gaze straight ahead, not looking to the dead bodies, because this was already a horror filled trip. She follows after the others, her saber in hand, but not on. She didn't think they were going to get out of here without it being ignited. So she keeps it with her.

Ax was silent during the ride, mostly centering himself and expecting a fight. With droids, he couldn't rely on his ability to sense lifeforms around him like he could use with Stormtroopers.

Lightsaber in hand, the blades not lit currently (though that was a flick of a button away) the Echani smuggler and jedi was ready to go when the lift doors open. Stepping out, he looks about "I'll cover our back if you want to take lead, Rey. You probably know this bird better than I do."

Rey does take the lead, leading the small group up a set of stairs that take them up in to the main corridor. The floors of the corridor are still glossy even all these years later. The strips of lights all reflect off of the near-black surface of the floors, as the Jedi quietly maneuver through them. "To be honest, Qutha, I'm not sure what I'm looking for." She says with a glance back, and a light smile given. "Anything, that could give us an upper hand on the damnable thing, though, yes. It's harmed our ... former ... temple, and now it's harmed a former ally. It has to be stopped, somehow."

Rey softly shakes her head as she walks, her hands at her side, no saber in her grasp as of yet.

When they reach a junction, another MSE droid is waiting there for them, just sitting idly still in the corridor.

Because it's offline, it ran itself out of power until it stopped, 'dead' in its tracks...

Rey walks past it and keeps on down a longer stretch of corridor. She eyes some small doorways, and even keys one open to peer inside. There are three others in this junction too, and Rey nods to the other three with her. "Take a look in those... see what we can find?" She asks the others.

Not sure what we're looking for.

"Bother and blow..." huffed out as he looks towards one of the doorways, stepping closer and tensing some as he tries to let his instincts guide and his modified eyesight see what he might see. "What shall we f-"

"Hello sir, do you have a unit requiring service or repair?"

Qutha's response to such being succinct, pointed, and appropriate for his finding himself as a 'loveable rustic' in today's choice of holo-horror. Jumping up in spite of himself, arms lifted, lightsaber forgotten and so remaining as a cylinder sheathed in intricately carved and etched wood in one hand while his jaw drops and his eyes widen.

But what are you going to do, Qutha? Are you going to box the immobile droid services and repair unit sitting there, inert, only able to speak? With your dukes up? Queen Amidala rules?

"I..." bravo. "I found a service unit."

"Please present the droid you wish serviced or repaired."

"Oh shut up."

Vega gives a look over the racks of mouse droids that she finds. The Jedi gives a look around, back to the mouse droids, back to the doors and then reaches out to take one off the rack. They'd not miss it. Not really. She gives a look to the utility droids, "You done with these floors yet?" she asks the cleaning droids...because maybe they had been cleaning these floors for ages? Who knew! It helps that she can understand the little things.

Ax nods to Rey, then moves to one of the other doors, hesitating outside a moment before he opens it to see what was inside. Saber-staff still in hand. "Don't tell my wife about this place," Ax says as he looks at the load of droids. "Got a bunch of astros and some K2's tucked away in here, aside from some dust, they look like they're fresh off the showroom floor."

"Definitely good salvage to whoever gets here, but probably would be better to see this stuff become space dust," Ax adds, stepping away from the door and looking to the others. "I should add some ion grenades to my kit in the future."

The repair droid just lowers its head when Qutha tells it to shutup. "Yes. sir..." It says in what could almost sound like disappointment, or even sadness, depending on how much you want to read in to it!

Vega gets the two cleaning droids to both stop chasing each other around the circular pathway until they look up at her. The question she asks it gets one of them to squeak and start to roll toward the now open doorway, like its happy that she finally came in and opened the door for it to escape. The other? Just goes back to running a circular pathway around the room. The droid that Vega takes doesn't make a beep or squeeak. It's just out cold, possibly never even powered up before.

Ax's room is just so, quiet and filled with a bounty of untold proportions. The K2 droids alone would be invaluable to a pirate group, if they'd gotten here first... but they'd been kept out, by the way this Destroyer had locked itself in here to this asteroid belt...

When Rey comes out of the room she'd gone inside of, she shakes her head. "Just tools." She says of her room. "Come on..." She speaks further as the cleaning droid that Vega released is leading the way now down the corridor, its little scrubbers polishing the floor that doesn't even look dirty.

Up ahead, is another set of stairs, this pair of steps leading down to another junction. In this junction there are another two dead Stormtroopers, one laying in the middle of the floor on their stomach, and the other on their back in the corner of the junctuion, with its head twisted in a awkward angle.

Rey takes the two steps down, and glances at the troopers. "This is a maze..." She says. "I'm not used to these places being... so well kept." She grumbles. "Usually all the bulkheads are stripped open and I can see through to each corridor... and the floors are walls." She says with a little huff.

Maz's voice chimes up over the coms.

<"Jedi. It's Maz. We have been spotted by that Imperial-era ship. It's launching fighters. We're going to try to get this done as soon as we can, but you better get /your/ end of this done soon if you want safe passage out of that derelict!"

"Well that would be our signal to hustle I suppose." frowning at the communication and at the bodies on the floor. Lacking in any sort of remote medical training, the best he can muster for the moment is a brief look to each - knowing that their faces wouldn't be such as to be remembered anyway.

"There is so much... Sadness and fear here. In the wake of... everything leading to it." head shaking, brows knitting, "If this is where it came from, we should look for storage... or an assembly area?" looking to Vega, curious, "That's how it would be done, yes?" running his fingers through his hair to clear it from his eyes.

Vega gives a smile to the droid that rushes out, "Good choice." she tells it. Then she watches the other one for a moment, "You can go, floors are clean." she tells them as she turns to head back towards where Rey and the others are. She tucks the mouse droid into her hood and ties it off. Hump? What hump?! No time for questions!

"Just cleaning crew trapped in there...for gods know how long." she frowns. "I can try to find the path using the force...though I'm not sure if this would count as man or machine." she frowns at that.

Ax nods to Rey, and when he hears what Maz has to say it just reassures his notions. "We should definitely get into gear. Exploration can be done on a different destroyer, this one is all about the mission and getting away before Maz's crew gets overrun."

Rey unclips her com and nods to what the others with her say. <"Maz, we're hurrying. Our bridge team is going to set a self destruct, and then we'll get out of here."> Is all she relays for the present moment. She puts the comlink on her leather wrist guard and glances back to see the other cleaning droid headed out of the room now at Vega's behest. It goes back the way that the Jedi had come from, and as the group stands near to the fallen troopers, the other cleaning droid advances down the corridor up ahead to the fore of the ship....

Maz responds. <"My headhunters are going to try and hold them off. No promises, kiddo."> And then goes silent.

Rey is about to speak when the cleaning droid up ahead passes close enough to the doors up there to cause them to open up. They split apart with a mechanical hiss, and beyond them, they reveal a black pod inside a private room. The large black pod rests there, ominously. Rey stares at it, before she glances to the other Jedi.

The cleaning droid starts to run its program within that room, while the pod suddenly splits apart down the middle, the upper half raising up in to the air, which causes Rey to look back toward that room.

Inside the pod, the interior of it is illuminated brightly, and a single figure can be seen inside its center. a glossy black helmet with flared edges... its facing away from the Jedi...

One of the cursed blessings of being a rustic born on the wrong side of the era of the Galactic Civil War is a passing knowledge of its figures. An education based on agriculture and not galactic history. The pod opening and the figure within, ominous as they stand, are mysteries for the orchardist and Qutha steps in. Head to one side, eyes riveted on the helmed figure and fish-mouthing several times while seeking his words.

His lightsaber ignites, if only to provide some illumination, a flash of bright blue that turns the green undertones of his skin and hair to aqua or teal in places while he takes a second step.

"If you're... still alive, we can render aid; sir." because life is still life.

Vega's feeling a bit creeped out by this point. She was heading by the doors just as the others when the cleaning droid causes the doors to open. She is sort of stopped in her tracks when the pod splits open and that shiny helmet is shown. "Ummm..." she looks to the others with a bit of a universal 'what the heck is that?!' look as her lightsaber is brought up to help illuminate things better. Because creepy green ambiance helps!

Ax was older than most, and while he was a kid, the images of Vader were pretty commonplace, especially amongst recruitment posters and holos. "Palpatine wasn't enough, now they're making a new Vader-bot as well," he mutters.

When Qutha is offering aid, Ax just looks and blinks at the man, though doesn't say anything. There were no allies here, this entire ship is riddled with evil, if not true evil it was at least full of malevolence.

Rey is standing on the left side of the corridor leading in to the now open chamber. She watches the droid zip around inside that room cleaning its floors while the others react. Her eyes go over to their wielded sabers, and the brilliant light that gleams off of their blades, then she looks forward to the helmeted head inside that now open pod...

It doesn't reply to the offer for help, it doesn't move either. "Come on..." Rey quietly says as she starts toward it, her left hand on the top of her satchel, while her right hangs at her side.

As the group gets closer to the open door, the pod comes further to life, as the figure inside it starts to rotate... the chair its seated on begins to turn, slowly inching its reveal...

The helmet... is faceless. It's a lid with no interior. Its resting atop a half-empty suit of mechanical workings, like a body has been taken away from its insides... It just sits there inside the pod, 'staring' at them.

Rey glances over at the others, then starts to walk in to the room. She looks to the right, then to the left.

"A computer terminal. Vega, see if you can find any references to the Sentinel droids within it?" She asks as she looks to Qutha, and Ax. "There's another door." Rey says, across the room on the port side. "See whats through it?" She asks them.

She, walks toward the 'Vader' suit, moving to stand beside the pod and peer inside it...

Looking to the empty suit, just as well; how likely would someone be alive, or sane if they were? Brows lifted and frowning a little deeper while crossing the room for the hatch indicated by Rey. Saber lifted, held crossways above his head on instinct and making to put himself to one side of the portal.

"Well, reckon didn't come all this way f'nothin', eh?" looking towards Ax before he closes to proximity to the hatch, slowing his pace and waiting while it gives a rattling grunt, a creak of dry lubricants being made to do their job and then the opening that sounds more like a slow inward breath than a hiss of pneumatics. A momentary stutter step forward, as though urged by feeling and the energy blade held high still, to keep his force granted night-sight from being hampered.

"Sun grant vision."

So many... black, eight legged figures. It sets a creeping up and down Qutha's spine and he can't help but hiss a bit in shock, "Dat-raddid... blasted... why's ever'thing gotta be -spiders-. Why cain' sommat be just... evil hound shaped. Or bird shaped. Arachnids... S'allus gotta be confundicated -spiders-."

Chest rising and falling rapidly, Qutha takes another step in - waiting for them to just... come online and do horrible things, not even conscious when he says, "Been that kin'a day, boy."

Vega's eyes snap up when Rey says her name and she snaps out of her 'ohgodohgod' inner screaming. She presses the button on her lightsaber, sending the blade squealing back down. She didn't want to put it through the consol. "On it, Master Skywalker." she tells Rey as she scurries over to it. She tries to figure out how to get into it...but ends up locked out. She gives a growl at the console, "Come on we're on a time limit." she tells it. "And is that an empty Vader suit?" she points to the other obvious elephant in the room...

"Still creepy," Ax says, saber lit and in hand as he heads towards the door. Then, they're at the door and opening it. One look inside is all it takes to get Ax to respond. "They need to get that damned self-destruct sequence going already. This place needs to be cleansed with plasma, send it into a sun or something, but it's gotta go."

Ax looks to Qutha. "They speak Basic where you're from, or is that like a secondary or tertiary language, because you've got some slang I've never even heard before, and I've hung around spaceports my entire life."

Rey looks back over to Vega at the question, and she dips her chin in a single nod. "I believe it is... yes." She calmly says of the suit inside the pod. A moment later and she's reaching inside it to grab at something that she stuffs in to the satchel on her hip. "A com record. Might as well listen to this later..." She says as she's now on her way to where Ax and Qutha are, her eyes going back to Vega.

"See if you can't hack that terminal, if it has directions on where we need to go, it'll speed things up."

Rey uses her comlink on her wristguard to reach out to the Bridge Team, to check on their status as she approaches the room that Ax and Qutha found.

As she lowers the com again, her eyes take in what is within that room, and she draws in a breath. "Tehse don't look like friendly droids." She notes as she glances to Ax, and nods in agreement with him. "This place needs to go, to be sure... Come on." She says then as she turns to head back toward Vega to check on her status.

"Er' planet hassit's lingo, plennya systems some folks haven' been to." Qutha murmurs, rustic accent thickening the less he is concentrating on enunciation, a moment before his head snaps and he turns around, saber shifting to be held vertical and behind him partly while his head turns and his frown draws out even further. Head dipping fractionally to a rhythm he is privy to.

Nod-tick-nod-tick.

"Sommats comin' ladies an gent." saber brought before him again and he is crossing around the pod and the empty suit, angling to place himself between Vega and the door they had entered to see the ghastly sight, "We gotta droid or someone armored up and thick headed here. Miss Vega, worry about your terminal, ma'am, I'll worry about your back, eh?"

"Oh that...ummm...well..." the little Echani's eyes may cross at the overload. No, no Vader trinkets! Vega's communication process with computers and droids is MUCH better than what she can do with humans. She reaches out with the Force, trying to get the computer to let her back in, once it's unlocked again she gives a gesture of her hand, "Sentinel Droids are stored back towards the juncture...starboard corridor, I don't have a direct spot though!" she calls out to them.

Wanting to get away from the spider droids, Ax moves over towards Vega. He was no slicer, but he'd grown up using ships' computers and when your wife is an engineer and you don't want her knowing what kind of abuse you put your ships through in training, you sometimes need to fudge the records from time to time. "Look there," Ax says, from over Vega's shoulder, pointing at a section. "Starboard corridor, then double doors. I'd bet a few creds that's where we need to go."

Rey is on her way to Vega's side when Qutha speaks up and gives his words of warning. This has Rey glancing at Vega, then to the others. She turns and starts toward the way they'd come in, passing around the pod with the empty Darth Vader suit... Her left hand pulls her saber up and off her belt as she brings it out from behind her satchel, ahnd holds it at her side.

When she reaches the doors that they'd come in through, she looks back out in to the corridor... A look is given to Qutha then.

The corridor is empty. It looks just the same as it had when they had been out there. "Maybe it was the other cleaning droid." Rey says to Qutha before she overhears Vega and Ax. She nods in their direction.

"Okay, lets go..." With saber in hand now, Rey moves a little faster as the urgency seems to be picking up. She steps back toward the deceased troopers in the junction, then takes a left toward the starboard side of the Destroyer. Up ahead, at the far end of the corridor is a set of double doors, with a few smaller entry ways that they can bypass this time now that they have the directions.

"Maybe we should have this Maz woman you know start blowin' the livin' daylights out this ship and we commence to an expeditious retreat back to the, relative, nightmarish safety of the fighter craft that narrowly scraped through the ship to get us into this very specific predicament, eh?" An attempt at levity from Qutha as he moves to follow Rey, saber still up, brows raised and lip zipping when he needs to keep his ears open again.

There's an urge fidget, hum a tune, anything with the closeness building all around them and it's a fight not to put his saber before him - still keeping it above or to the side of his vision, where it won't leave image burn or motion trails in his sight.

Vega gives a look to Rey when she appraoches, but then follows her when they are heading out. She didn't want to be in the room with that thing aloooone! She lets her feet guide her down the way...until she bangs into the corner with an audible 'thunk'. "Ow..." she mutters as she tries to get her bearings. Because this was not a ship she knew on the inside.

Ax was walking along with the others, keeping his rearward position and checking their six, hoping beyond hope that those scores of spider droids didn't wake up and start pouring out of a bulkhead like the faucet in some campy horror-holo about Felucian spiders hitch hiking to Coruscant with some exotic fruits.

"I really do not want to leave my fighter here, she's my favorite bird, but I'd rather leave it than get all of us killed," he says. "Just don't make fun of me when I shed a tear." Obviously, he's distracted enough to not notice whatever it was that needed noticing.

The group makes it to the double doors, and Rey passes through them as they split apart. there, within this room is another pod, though this one opens from the sides outward rather than the top down like Vader's. It's already open too, like a mechanically cracked egg, it just rests there open, along with many others of similar make that line the walls.

"This is it..." Rey says then as she looks around. "There's more than one terminal here too. One for each berth." She says as she adjusts the strap of her bag and starts toward one, her saber being reclipped to her belt behind her back. "Everyone take a terminal, try and download whatever you can get off these things about the Sentinels, then we'll get out of here."

Something rocks the ship, not terribly hard, but it can be heard echoing through the bulkheads. "A fight, we'll need our fighters..." Rey says as her fingers get to work on the computer terminal.

A 'BWOMNMK' of system denial and a grunt Qutha steps back from his terminal with a hiss of breath and a turn to pace a step or two away, to take a breath and get his center only for his jaw to drop and his eyes to widen where they follow movements in the shadow.

"Spider bot." pointing with his lightsaber towards the ceiling, down the hall to where the pod had been. Tracing the movements seconds late while, helpfully, repeating, "Spider bot." expression tightening and a deep breath being taken through his nose while stepping to closer proximity to the others.

"We should go. Presently."

Vega is working quickly, trying to use their time to get things. But they can't get everything. And that sucks! Vega gives a look over her shoulder to Qutha when he mentions Spider bot and then she shakes her head, nope. No spider bots. She pulls her data at the last possible moment and then looks to Rey and the others, "Qutha is right, we should go now before we are all caught." she tells them.

Ax plugs a datacard into the terminal's slot and begins a download. Not sure what he'd end up with, but anything was more than they had already. "I second that notion that we should get the hell out of here as soon as possible and get back to the ships. Maz's crew are likely outgunned and outmanned out there."

When the terminal beeps saying the datacard was full, Ax pulls it out and pockets it. "Don't get greedy," he says towards the others. "Anyone heard from the bridge team?"

Rey is only able to get some of the information herself. It's frustrating for her, but she hears the urgency in Qutha's warning, and she trussts his senses. "Okay, okay." She says to everyone as she pulls out her data chit and starts to stuff it in to her bag. "Thsi will have to do." She tells the others as she turns then and starts back the way they'd come. One more glance is sent over her shoulder before she slips back out in to the corridor...

"Good job, everyone." She says with a slight smile given to them before she reaches for her saber off of the small of her back again, once more clutching it in her left hand as they started back out in to the corridor together...
