Getting Jaxed II

OOC Date: September 16, 2018
Location: Arisnar
Participants: Jedi: Jax Greystorm, Ax, Jonn Drayson, Yuun, Zandra naMuriel, and Elrych Cometburn

It's been a week since the first class. Though Jax has set up the class room in a simlar sit up with the kneel boards in a circle. There was no ice chest but Jax is sitting on the platform with training probe in his hand adjusting the training remote.

Elrych Cometburn struts in on time, not as late as others might have been which perhaps is a bit uncharacteristic for the Sly Corellian but he seemed upbeat as of late. Riding the high of a good life (and probably the force.) "Ayeeee." He greets Jax as he enters looking about and finding himself a board to kneels at. He takes off his glasses a moment and rubs them, cleaning them, with the fabric of his robes before putting them back on.

Zan comes in, glancing around and then finding a seat over at a kneel board. "Hey, Jax." She smiles and then settles in, her gaze going to the evil training probe. She glances over to Elrych and nods his way as well. "Elrych, hi." She doesn't say anything else, just settles down and waits quietly. There's a calm expression on her face, even though she actually did not spend most of the past week here.

Coming to class, and having been working on training a number of skills, but also getting back to basics with a few other skills. Dressed similar to a fighter and monk, he smiles as he has his hands in his tunic pockets, he waves.

Jax looks around, "Hello." He raises an eyebrow, "Gann does that too. I thought it was a Gann thing. I never heard it before him on Corellia." He looks to the others, "Welcome. So how has the training been going? If you would each of you tell me how your trainings went and what you've learned studing how to Reduce injury?"

Elrych Cometburn looks lost, "Gann does what, exactly raise his eyebrow and say hello?" He'd rather not get compared to that guy at least, he hopes that's not what's happening. If so, he'd have to change some habits. He looks to Zandra and Yuun as they come in, raising a hand that's half hidden by the large sleeve of his robe. "Hey Guys, what's up?" Then a look back to Jax as the lesson presumably starts. "Well, it's helped me with controling and shaping the force more. How it can take various different forms and used as an applicable tool."

"Are we tahking aboud a Gahnd?" asked Jonn, uncharacteristically late. He was the last into the room, looking a little bit harried. "Is dere a Gahnd choinink der Oahdeh?" His curiosity was piqued, and he was more interested in the idea of a Gand Jedi than in explaining his tardiness. Then it occurred to him. "I was trying to rehpair der powah oscillaytoh on my lightsaybeh. It's aulways behn funneh."

Walking over to a wall and leaning against it, he listens to what is being asked. "What about Ganns?" he asks as he looks to everyone. Thinking about how he was doing his training, "I was using the training remotes as I did lightsaber training and martial arts training." he says. "It was a little bit much, though I did turn up the voltage on the training remotes."

"Adhar Gann is a Corellian Smuggler that greets people by saying Ayeee. Which Elrych just greeted me by." He waves away any more comments, "Alright, Sounds like Yuuns been using the training remotes at a higher rate. Elrych has been examining other ways of using the force. Jonn's been working on your lightsaber. Talk to me after class if you need help, I might be able to find something you missed if you're still having problems. Any specific in regards to damage reduction? Has anyone formed armor?"

Elrych Cometburn rubs his eyes as Jax explains his previous satement. "Noted..." He says with a long sigh before looking up and paying attention once again. "I was going to use the remote while I was here as well." He then shakes his head, "I'm still having some trouble, it's pretty rough but I'm here to take a stab at it anyways."

"Der rehmote and I are old friends," said Jonn, holding up his clunky double-gripped tube of a lightsaber. It was simple, it was clunky, and now in Jonn's hands it was dangerously effective. "I haf godden to a point whyeah no shot has gotten trough foah a month." He re-hooked the lightsaber to his belt and gave the remote something of a glare. "I ahm nahd too fohnd of der ideah of loosing my rehcord."

Blinking a moment, "I didn't know we could use it to create armor." he says as he looks as he watches the others. He looks at Jonn and smiles, "Thats pretty awesome." he says as he looks to the others, "I'm still working on my lightsaber skills, if this is going to be our primary focus, I want to make sure I have that skill ingrained into me."

"I tried to make armour, but I'm having issues with it. I can't get it to work," Zan puts in softly. "I'm probably trying too hard or something." She shrugs and then says, "But I'm going to keep working at it. Eventually I'll figure it out."

"Well today won't mess with your record Jonn." Jax looks at Yunn, "Yes damage reduction is about to form a shield to protect yourself from damage. As I stated last week, it's like telekinsis but instead of reaching out to lift an object you can form a shield around you. THe ones that have created it have learned that the reduce injury doesn't last for long. If it gets hit it gone after it does it job. So every time you have to recreate it."

Elrych Cometburn nods to Yuun, "That's what Jax demonstrated last class." He nods to Zandra, "Same. I'm not having much effect but I think maybe if we shock out bodies enough with the Remote, it might become as close to a natural instinct as possible. That's what we want in a fighting situation or a retreating one, depending." He looks to Jax, "Yeah well. I'm not so good with Telekinesis either." He frowns a bit, "Not that I'm not trying and working at it." He hefts a sigh and then nods, listening.

"Auright, den," concluded Jonn, shrugging off his over-robe and standing there in the loose Jedi tunic that he wore today. Well, it would have been loose, had Jonn not being a muscled monster of a man. "Hyit meh," he instructed the remote. Or Jax. Whoever was calling the shots.

Shaking his head, "Yea, I remember now." Yuun says to Elrych. "I think I did forget but I know I've been using it." he says as he looks at everyone. He looks up at Jax, he than looks over to Elrych, "Well then looks like we will try to work more on that skill Elrych." he says. "Though I've read that there were Jedi in the Old Republic who couldn't use telekinesis at all, so maybe we can figure something else out for you if thats the case." he than looks to Jonn and smiles.

Zan nods slowly. I did get I think a little better with telekinesis, so maybe that will help?" she offers hopefully. She regards Jonn and then Jax and the remote. "Aren't you supposed to get that force armor ready first?" she asks dubiously. She concentrates for a moment, reaching out to touch the force and getting ready to watch what happens, as well as to try on her own to create that armor. "Maybe, Elrych. But I hope it's not that hard."

"It's similar to Telekinsis. Doesn't mean it's like Telekinsis." Jax says as they site around the room on the knee boards, "This may not be a skill that you don't have a talent in. I know the other protective skills are more difficult to have talent in or master. So if you're not ready for the next level. I suggest keep practicing." He looks up at Jonn as he strips out of his over robes. "Alright this is the next suggested level is trying to form the shield from reduce injury everytime you're hit." He presses a button on the remote and it goes zipping towards Jonn and fring stun bolts at him.

~ Ax was late, which was a bit unusual for him, but he'd been off visiting his twins on Naboo and decided that was more important for the day. So, coming into the classroom, he's moving quietly and trying not to upset whatever's going on. ~

Elrych Cometburn shrugs, "Maybe but that would really bumb me out. I'm going to give it a try anyways." He stands and moves out of the way, "I'm next after Jonn." At least he'll try. He spends his time getting ready, preparing himself mentally, concentrating so much that he dosn't even notice Ax walk in silently.

The fun thing about instinct is that sometimes it leads you astray. And sometimes you've honed your own reflexes to a knife's edge before you realize that, maybe, the normal action is not the one you're supposed to take. The warning went off in Jonn's head and his training kicked in.

Snap-hiss.

The blue saber scythed through the air, directing a bolt away and into the wall (joining the rest of the scorch-marks left by training students) before he was able to suppress his instinctual defense. Of course, that resulted in him being off-guard, and taking two solid shots to the abdomen. "Ach!" he hissed out, as the saber protested and squealed when the blade withdrew. "Dis was nahd a lightsaybeh class!"

Yuun blinks a little at the part where the remote fires at Jonn. He is already on his feet, quickly and moving out of the way but knowing this is a class to train on how to reduce the the damage of a hit. Yuun doesn't reach for his stun saber. He does smile when he sees Ax, though he is proabably already versed in this skill. Still Yuun is waiting.

Zan watches, wincing a bit as the saber ignites and then Jonn gets hit. "Ow," she says feelingly in reflex. She gets to her feet though, and steps back just in case. Hey, there are lightsabers flashing and stun bolts being reflected. Getting out of the way might be the best bet.

"I won't stop you at all Elrych and glad you're going to try." Jax's head spins around at the hiss of the saber and the deflection of one of the stun bolts, "Please Jonn, do I need to hold your saber until the exercise is over? You feeling alright? " He nods to Ax, "Welcome. It happens. We're discussing how reduce injury only last moments and only through a single attack."

Elrych Cometburn moves and steps in front of the remote, "Okay... ready." He stands there with his knees bent and his eyes filled with resolve. Then the remote shoots him, his face winkles and it looks like he's holding something in before he shouts, "YOWWWWWWWWW..." And steps aways stomping off the pain. Nope, didn't work that time. He'll have to try again.

~ Ax gives Jax a nod. "It's a reflexive thing," he says. "It's just not something I'm overly good at, though I've gotten better. Still believe that the best defense is not to get hit in the first place," he says with a grin. He steps into the room, taking a deep breath and focusing his will on enhancing his speed and agility. "Or, eliminate your enemies before they can hurt you." ~

"Sorreh, sorreh, I haf practiced so much dat it has becomeh rehflex," mumbled Jonn, embarrassed at himself for his muck-up. WHOOPS, big guy. You're not in combat, you're training. He held out the saber to Jax, giving him a sort of squint and saying, "Look ahfteh it. Accoahding to der Holohcrons, dat weahpon is my life." Someone had been reading a lot of Obi-Wan Kenobi lately. Then, safely unarmed, he stood in front of the remote and looked at Ax with an expression of mild concern.

Zan's gaze goes to Elrych and then back over to Jonn with a laugh. "Does that make it my turn?" she asks a little nervously. "I was trying to make that thing not hit me with a stunsaber but this seems just as bad." She wrinkles her nose, listening to the group. The interplay brings a smile, as she waits her turn.

Jax shakes his head, "You don't have to do it unless you wan to try Zan." He looks at Elrych, "You alright?" He though takes Jonn's saber, "It will be safe. I won't damage it." He clips it to his own belt leaving it to hang next to his own saber. " Ax, I agree with not getting hit but you have to have a plant in case you're hit. You can disarm a threat or danger without killing. You know this."

Elrych Cometburn is a glutton for pain today as he moves to step in front of the remote again, calling it to him. It hits him against and he yelps another time, "Stang..." He growls, gritting his teeth before answering Jax. "Yeah. I'm fine. No pain no gain, you know. If anything I'll just get used to this damn thing stunning me when I use it to practice my defence later."

~ "Depends on the threat," Ax says with a shrug to Jax. "And a backup plan is definitely something to keep in mind, and a reason I've been working on this skill as well. I've been shot enough times in the past, that I see the benefit." He looks to the others gathered. "I'm sorry for interrupting the class, please carry on." ~

Luck had been on Jonn's side the first time they practiced this skill. But this time around it was not to be. Jonn relied on instinct once again. The Force spoke to him, told him that he had incoming danger and he needed to put something between him and the remote right now. But rather than reach for the saber that was no longer there, he consciously tried to form that shield through the Force, to ablate the incoming shot. But this time there was no FWING, no thwap, just a zap and an, "Auch!"

Zan makes a face at Jax, and then she takes a deep breath, moving up to take her turn. She concentrates, touching the force and trying to get that armour just like Jax did. And then the remote sends a bolt her way and it knocks her back, and she lands on her butt. There's no scream or yell, just a whimper. After a moment or two, she manages, "Well, that totally didn't work. Guess it's back to the drawing board."

Jax shrugs, "You're more than welcome to join or take a turn Ax. DIscussing the philosphy of a jedi is part of our classes." He crosses his arms. "Just remember let the force flow through you. It's you're ally. It will guide you and protect you."

Elrych Cometburn takes a deep breath and just jumps out infront of the remote, the thing shoots him. One, two, three, four times. Though on the last one as he fights through the pain, yelling aloud a lot like Jonn, "NUAAAGGGGGHHHH" As if he's finally letting loose of a bout of incontinence, he opens his eyes and a bluish sort of ripple evaporates the last bolt into thin air. He lets out a breath, his face read, breathing heavy. "Hell yeah." And then he falls back onto his back and takes a breather.

~ Ax and the training remote go way back, so the Echani steps towards the hovering robot with it's low-powered blasters. The evil ball of electronics doesn't hesitate, popping a shot off right at the Echani's rump.

There's an attempt to block the attack with the reduce injury ability, but that fails, so the Echani mutters a curse and flings a hand up. A blast of force comes from the Echani's hand as he moves air with telekinesis towards the droid, which deftly dodges out of the way. "Damn, I hate that thing," he mutters. ~

"Hayte leads to suffehring, Mastah Ax," jibed Jonn, steadying himself for the next hit when Elrych nobly sacrificed his life, his dignity, his pride to take the hit for the bigger man. Or so Jonn thought. "Good wyerk, Elrych! I am verreh pr-" danger crawled along his back and a blaster bolt, thankfully a training one, clocked him in the face. "uaWHGH!" he yelped in surprise. Next time, pay attention!

Yuun allows himself to prepare though he has been keeping an eye on the remote though as it comes in towards him, he attempts to weave slightly so to use minimum effort, though as he does he also gathers the force around him and as the bolt comes in, Yuun doesn't move to quickly allowing the bolt to hit him and as it hits, he tries to harness the force tighter around him to buffer the brunt of the damage.

Zan shakes her head, still on her rump. Her eyes widen at Elrych's display and then she says, "Well done!" She gets to her feet, moving into range, and another shot comes her way from the remote. That gets a growl as this one hurts, but not so much as the last one. She flashes her own telekinetic response automatically at the droid, because she has been working on her telekinesis. "Oh, whoops. It is hard, when you've been training on things."

Ax shoots a look towards Jonn. "The code of the jedi is what aided in their downfall. Locking out all emotions is what leads to sufferring," he says. "Besides, I think it's safe to hate or strongly dislike something that was your nemesis for months on end, especially when said target is comprised of servos and circuits and not blood and soul."

Ax looks back at the remote, a hand instinctively going towards one of his sabers, ready to cut the thing down, but refrains. "Sometimes, it's a matter of survival, letting your emotions push you."

"I disagreeh," said Jonn, feeling the danger crawling in his mind and, finally channeling his own ideals into the Force, was granted a FWING and a blue shield that ablated the impact entirely. That was it. You didn't call the power. You opened yourself to it. "Der Ched-hai of old suppressed deyre emotions," he responded to Ax, standing calm and ready for the next shot, "and yes, dey fell. But it is a fihne lihne between servos and soul, especially when der emotion is hayte. Der Ched-hai fell because dey were desensehtyzed to myurder by killing droids, aftah all."

Jax claps, "Good job Elrych. Come take a break. YOu did it." The Corellian jedi seeming to concentrate on the students for a moment. "Zandra, that was a good attempt. Center yourself and reach out to the force."

Elrych Cometburn gives a thumbs up from his prone position, groaning still at the aches and pains the remote inflicted on him. Yeah, taking five sounded like a good idea especially if he was going to practice Lightsaber Defence later.

~ Ax offers a shrug, "Suppression of emotions is not something I ever plan on doing, for that would mean I would not love as strongly as I do, my wife, my children. The Jedi of old would frown upon that, though it was not always the case. The ancient Jedi, they relished in such things, knowing that is what drove people to succeed and to protect those that needed protecting." Ax turns back to the remote, gesturing to it to keep going, and one of the small blasters on its orb pops him again, though this time, the Echani seems unphased. ~

They thought on similar lines, there was only differences in minutae. Jonn didn't see that as a big enough reason to debate the point. People were allowed to think for themselves, after all. There was a flicker of blue around Jonn immediately before the bolt impacted him this time, but there was still a stagger and another "Auch!" as he got hit. Timing!

Getting hit, he wasn't able to suppress the attack, though it wasn't a bad hit, but still. He looks up as everyone is getting hit and succeeding, he smiles happy that they are doing well. He hears the conversation with Ax and Jonn. "Yeah, I think thats why things didn't go well for the Old Jedi Order, they tried to separate themselves from their feelings and as a people we can't really do." he frowns and quickly jumps back as the remote fires at him.

Listening to Jax, Zan takes a deep breath, and she pauses to center herself. She concentrates, and then tries it again. It's a definite long slow moment as she touches the force, ignoring the stinging of the previous hits, and then she steps forward quietly. Her breathing is even, as she stands there, her gaze on the remote. It fires at her and she flinches, but she doesn't move out of the way. And then the bolt hits, and there's that flash as the bolt is absorbed and Zan stands there unharmed. "Oh!"

"There are some things that the order should hash out. I've played with my own oath but haven't gotten very far. I think the jedi order of old got some things right but they expected to much perfection." Jax then waves it away, "Good work guys, Keep practicing. If you need a break please take one."

Elrych Cometburn sits up, "I'll have another g-" He gets cut off as the Droid sees him sitting up. He hasn't even moves yet when the thing lets loose a round that heads right for his face. His eyes widen.

~ Ax chuckles. "There's another way to deal with the remote or other enemies as well," he says. The Echani takes a breath, centering himself for a moment. Then, he gestures the remote once more. It fires off a shot at Ax, which Ax shrugs off as it does nothing to him, however the droid sparks and smokes, dropping rapidly towards the ground for a moment before it manages to right itself just before impact. However, one of the blasters on its spherical body is likely going to need to be replaced. "Protecting Wave. Another good skill to learn. Won't stop an attack from hitting you or hurting you, but it will make the attacker regret his decision from targetting you or whoever you utilize the power upon." ~

Yuun is now focusing on whats going on with their training, though he does have some input in what is going on. still he quickly ducks and jumps away, he is hit and at the same time he isn't able to get away from the remote and is hit hard in teh chest and sent falling to the ground.

Jax frowns as Ax damages the training droid. "Great we'll need to repair that now. Though it's a good power." He walks over to pick up the probe and turns it off. "Good Work today. If you need healing let somebody know. YOu're homework assignment is to keep practing what you've learned. Next week share what you learn and just for discussion of what you think the combat ettique of a jedi should be. Thanks guys."

Elrych Cometburn frowns as the droid in damaged slightly. "I was guna use that..." He sighs and shakes his head before nodding to Jax. "I need to get one of these for my ship or something." He wishes they were that readily avalible. "Thanks for the lesson Jax."

Getting up slowly, Yuun sits up on his butt, he sighs. "That wasn't good." he sighs a little, still it was fun. "Thanks for the lesson" he says to Jax and he sees that Ax damaged one of the remotes, he sighs a little bit.
