Bandit Raids on Ryloth

OOC Date: December 26, 2020
Location: Ryloth
Participants: Jax Greystorm, Zandra naMuriel, Vhe Tenara, Kasia Ashkuri

The force works in mysterious ways especially when it was the New Republic Intelligence showing up at the Lighthouse and asking for a team of jedi to go to Ryloth. They had been looking for Jax but the knight and intelligence agent was off planet doing something else. The Intel Officer request had been simple. There was a group of bandits that was raiding villages near the bright side of the planet. VIllages that the New Republic had promised aid and protection in forming a coalition in the ever shifting politics of Ryloth. The next raid would be happening soon in a village of Gi'ler. There wasn't proper time to assemble a force of New Republic Military or law enforcement. Though the jedi could deploy quicker than any of the New Republic regular options.

Gi'ler didn't have a landing pad per say. Just an open area that a nearby mountain cast in the shade. There were farming along the mountain of various fungus that made of the twi'lek diet. A local livestock mulled around the flat area where a ship could land waiting for their herders to take them out on the range to fourage. It was just a bit too bright and a bit too hot. The people of the village lived in caves that had chimney built into them. It was a simple life and hard but at the moment, It was the beginning of the day. Nothing was wrong yet.

Ryloth and is static position gives a clear defined line on Ryloth as to light and dark. Vhe considers this from their orbit and is mulling it still by the time they land. Descending into the village wih its simple needs in life fully met, there is a crook of a smile at the smells and sights that assail her upon exiting.

"Considering there are bandits in the area, its still lovely." She breathes in deeply and then glances back to those with her. "Probalby should ask the locals if the know which way the bandits arrive from and where they leave to. Surely news should have traveled by now."

Zandra looks around as she steps off the ship, curiously. "That sounds like a great idea, Vhe," she agrees, looking around. Her nose wrinkles a bit, since livestock does present some aroma no doubt. She's here as well, the jedi sending those they had on hand, which is good for quick mobilization after all. "Let's make sure the ship is secure and then we can find out what's going on, hopefully." The purple haired Jedi pulls her hood up over her head, and at least that gives her a bit of shade by which to see better.

Kasia's been to Ryloth quite a few times over the last several years, but being married to a native does tie one to the world in some ways. Which means she was already here for some reason, and therefore showing up here to assist was a fairly simple task. Stepping off her own ship she is dressed in the blues of the robes she wears, adorned with other brighter accessories that have a local asthetic. "The locals will probably be wary of us. I wish Hex could have come because many are generally distrusting of humans. Considering what we do to their people though..." She makes a vague gesture with one hand. "Maybe we'll get lucky though."

Intel was sparse but it appears that the bandits were humans or near humans armored in old imperial stormtrooper armor and carrying old Imperial weapons such as E-11 and repeaters. They had arrived in a Svelte-Class shuttle raiding the villages, destroying resources, and telling villages they should know their place and know better to trust the Republic.

Kasia was right only the livestock greeted them and their ships. Their only greetings were the eyes of curious younglings at the edge of the homes. Then slowly the young herders appears and moved to get their livestock away from the jedi ships. They paid the trio no mind and would not speak to them when approached. Kasia would understand the words, 'trouble, outsiders, witches.' being mumbled among them. If she tries to talk to them in Ryll they hurry even faster.

Then finally a wizen hunched over figure hidden beneath heavy robes and leaning on a staff of crooked wood descended down towards the three. The old hooded figure had lekku of the purest white. She stands off and asks in Ryll, 'Pay them no mind. They are young and foolish. They know fear. Are you the bandits or are you the protection the coalition sent? Just you three? I know we're poor but do we mean so little to the Republic?' The female twi'lek voice sounds as if she's seen a thousand heat storms.

Vhe watches how they are received, a curiously perked brow when they find no answers and likewise they seem to scatter even more so. "This makes the job a little more difficult," she remarks faintly, her lips pressing to a thin line as she lifts her hand, trying to wave a few before they turn away. "Hello! We are here to help!" But alas!

She glances to the others and starts to slow as the hooded figure approaches. The native tongue being spoken leaves Vhe at a disadvantage. "We are here to help with the raiders." There is hope basic will be understood by the elder even if she can not understand her.

Zandra naMuriel looks around curiously as folks skitter here and there, but stay away from the three. The whispers that come out get a slight frown, and then the elder comes out. Zandra pauses, and offers her a slight bow. "Greetings," she says softly in Ryl. "We are not bandits." The words come absently, as Zandra maybe is not paying quite the attention she should be. There are bugs here, and things living - is she walking on top of their homes?

Kasia speaks the language, even if the dialect differs slightly. She's practiced enough to understand though, and respond in Ryl in kind. "Your worth is not in question. We are but what could come quickly, and are stronger than we look. If more is needed, more will come as was promised." Her word selection isn't always perfect, but it should convey the message well enough to the wizened Twi'lek woman. "What can you tell me about the raiders? Anything will help us." She glances over at Zandra and Vhe, the latter her focus. "She asked if we were bandits, or if we're all the help that was sent. I explained we're who could arrive quickly," she says, translating anything else said helpfully for the younger jedi.

The white woman examines the three for a moment. She makes a hmmph sound, Then switches to basic, "Three against a band of pirates wearing the face of the Empire. Perhaps we should surrender. Very little, they will come for the livestock and the children to remind us of our place. They will be bold in come in a ship. They are not other twi'lek as they have no lekku." She cants her head to the side. "Do you hear that? I hear the rumble of a ship. Perhaps we shall find out. How great of warriors you are."

Thankful to Zandra and Kasia, the Ysanna offers a nod and faint smile but she is lucky that the elder decides to humor those who can not understand her. Vhe looks from Kasia back to the elder, considering with a furrowing of her brows. It takes her a moment but Vhe can hear the faint rumble but its her eyes that confirm for her what she expects. "There!" She remarks as she points her finger out to indicate a ship that is inbound.

It catches the light just right glance. "Shuttle, I think, so we can expect no heavy turrets, I would hope. Maybe. But bound to have quite a few. Should have the villagers hide and we will move out to face them."

Zandra considers for a moment, not seeing or hearing anything at the moment. She nods to the Village Elder. "Please keep your people and livestock as safe as you are able. We will also do our best to avoid any damage to them." It goes without saying that it will be very helpful if the raiders can't get to any of the villagers, right? She looks over to Kasis and Vhe, and she says, "Together, we can do this, and remember, we have many methods at our disposal - combat doesn't have to be the only one."

When attention is drawn to an approaching shuttle, Kasia's eyes focus off that way for a few moments. "Well. This is going to be interesting." She drinks in a centering breath and looks back to the older Twi'lek. "If there are caves or anything like that nearby, I would take shelter in them. Something these raiders aren't going to be familiar with the way your people are. We'll do our best to defend you." She goes through the process of checking her things, weapons in place, stowed away on her person, water, goggles. The last of which she lowers over her eyes. "If these are slavers, be prepared for them to get violent firsts. I've encountered many, and it's not something they hesiate to do."

The old twi'lek woman laughs and it sounds harsh, "Perhaps the three warriors have some wisdom. Unlike our men." She turns and is beginning to crutch her way back up the mountain side to the caves. The younglings are already being gathered up by Mothers and disappearing deeper inside the cave that are these peoples homes.

The herders are now out in the open trying to drive the live stock to some form of shelter away from the village. A young purple skinned male, around 17 seasons old holds up an ancient blaster rifle that looked like it was new with Darth Revan walked in the galaxy, and fires at the ship and actually hits. The shuttles shields spark for a moment. Then old Svelte opens up with a blaster fire strafing the livestock. Then hovers above the opening as men in Old Imperial stormtrooper armor and jetpacks dismount from the shuttle. Half the fire team (four of them) land 30 meters from our trio. Another four (2-4) land on the mountain side. They're mission clear that they're going after the people inside.

That leaves one on the ramp of the shuttle. It hovers in the air on repulsor engines. His voice calling out through the speakers of his helmet giving him greater volume. "I don't know who you three are. YOu're not my mission. Take your ships and leave. This rabble needs to be taught a lessor or my troops will open fire. You have till the count of three."

The saber at her side is snapped free, creating a pale blue beacon as she lifts it to be seen but does not rush in to wield it. Instead she focuses on those that are going after the villagers. "HALT! Leave them be!" She calls out to them and without hesitation the Force answers her as she extends her hand. She grips at the one nearest her and with a shove, slams him into the one beside him, knocking them both to the ground.

The saber is not employed, merely gripped at her side.

Zandra glares at the reaction from the stormtrooper wannabes. "Well, guess they don't want to talk," she says simply. "The flip side of knowing that it doesn't always have to be combat? Sometimes it is." She centers herself, reaches for the force, and then glares again at that noisy obnoxious fellow on the ramp of the shuttle. "Come here and tell us that," she calls out, as she reaches to the Force, tugging him hard off that ramp. She reaches for her own Lightsaber, bringing it with a snap hiss, to show the green glowing blade that sizzles through the air.

The warning, the men already going to terrorize and round up children, all of it is enough to make an already stern looking Kasia frown all the more. She hasn't a helmet to project her voice the way the leader does, so she can't sass him back. Instead, while the others take swift action, she holds herself there for a moment to draw in a deep breath, closing her eyes for a few beats. She exhales and opens her eyes again, then charges forward at a sprint. It's running, she's never been a fan of it, nor jumping if she's to be honest, but the way she moves now is inhumanly fast, and the jump... it's higher than she's ever jumped before. A height that has to be terrifying for anyone not like them, but it's just not quite enough to get her /on/ the ramp. It is, however, high enough that she can grab the ramp and then dangle there like a decorative piece of frippery on the exterior of the ship. "Ah-- damn." It takes a concerted effort to /not/ look down at the ground as she plans on how to get herself all the way up onto the ramp, then she'll figure out what to do from there. For now her plan consists of don't let go.

The old twi'lek had just made it to safety though she was watching to see what the women could do. They attack on the herder causes her to spit, "Damn it. Ok'la." Though her eyes go wide at the sight of lightsabers. She whispers, "Jedi. They sent jedi." There's a reverence in her voice and awe.

Leader of the bandits finds himself on the ground and the air knocked out of him as he scrambles up to a kneeling position. "KIll them, overwhelm them." His own repeater blaster coming up to prepare to attack.

The troops with him do just that their E-11 brought up and open fire. Though they can't aim or the jedi are just too fast.

Vhe moves quickly, the saber kept low at her side as she twists about, leaning aside from the last blaster bolt that zips past her form. This brings her around and in her peripheral she sees Kasia jump and...grasp the boarding ramp.

"Kasia!" she calls out. She lifts her hand and ignores those on the ground in order to help the other Jedi out. The Force lifts upwards and wrapping around Kasia she carefully raises her out of immediate danger and onto the ramp as carefully as she can.

Once assured that Kasia is there, she releases and lowers her hand.

Zandra has a set expression on her face, though there's a neutral feel to her emotions. She came to talk, they came to attack, kidnap and kill. That does not sit well with the young jedi. Her gaze is on the leader at first, as he gets to his knees blustering still. There's a thoughtful look on Zan's face then, and her lightsaber goes flying out. She's not got the range yet, it wobbles somewhat as it whooshes through the air, by several of the bandits, and then snaps back so she can take another stab, sending her saber faster and harder at that leader who is aiming his blaster at them. "No," she says simply. "There have been enough attacks." Then she is turning, her lightsaber coming back for a swift turn and change of targets, aiming for the one remaining bandit who is still after his original target and not the jedi. "I really do think you all might want to talk about this?" she offers, calling out seriously. "Drop your weapons NOW." And as she finishes speaking, Zan's saber snaps back to her hand, leaving her standing there, a purple haired avenging valkyrie or something.

Kasia's current position is such that she's certainly not going to object to help, even if objection were possible. She feels the helpful lift of that unseen force from Vhe, and manages to make her way all the way up onto the ramp. A moment is spent flexing her hands and being grateful that she's still alive, and then she's on her feet. One hand lifts to indicate to the jedi below that she's okay and appreciative, and then she turns to head inside the ship.

She's cautious enough that the saber attacked to her side beneath her robes is pulled free and held out in one hand as she moves through the ship in search of any others that might be aboard it. What she finds is a pilot in the cockpit who is likely astonished to find her there. Almost at once a hand lifts trying beat him to any action, saying, "You want to land the ship and surrender yourself." The words are driven with the force, and the pilot has little choice but to comply after he softly repeats the command.

The shuttle comes in for a landing and powers down. Kasia is complete control and the doesn't want to fight. He even picks up his blaster pistol and drops in on the deck of the shuttle where she can reach it.

Zandra takes out the leader and Skull 4. There's a moment where it seems that everything is done and the fight is over. That is till Skull 2 rises and with his E-11 shoots at Vhe. HIs voice crackling, "Everyone focus fire on the jedi. We haven't lost this." In the confusion two of the fire team that had originally faced off against the jedi do focus fire but on Zandra again.

She nearly misses the shot incoming in her direction and whirls out of the way. Teal robes flare with the motion as she comes to a stop with a heavy thud of her foot, Vhe reaches out and snaps forward with the Force. Its a heavy strike upon the newly arisen impromptu leader of the group. "I suggest you all drop your weapons!"

She slams him back into the ground with a heavy handed motion which leaves him alive but likely in some great deal of pain. With the ship landed, Vhe gives it a look to assure herself this was all likely due to Kasia before her attention shifts to Zan to be sure the group is beginnign to whittle away at the morale of the group.

Zandra looks to the shuttle, having already felt the force manipulations from both, and seen that Kasia was on her feet, on the ramp. She checks on Vhe, and then there are blaster bolts aimed her way. One simply is off course enough she ignores it, the second comes close enough that Zan moves her lightsaber defensively, and deflects the bolt back at the bandit who fired at her. There's a wince on her face though as it hits him, knocking him back. "Surrender," she calls again. Vhe's words lead to her own, Zan holding her lightsaber, but not at all attacking those who surrender. There's a calm confidence about her, as she looks at each of the remaining bandits, those who are not dead or unconscious.

The pilot of the ship complies, and Kasia seems satisfied to allow him to do the work while she oversees it. Only once the ship is set down does she lay a hand on his shoulder and guide him out of the cockpit, frisking the man for more weapons, or useful items for them. With that done she drags the man around the ship long enough to find some way to secure him, slave pens, binders, ropes, a fresher with a really stubborn door. Something. Once the man is secured she'll make her way back to the ramp to check on the others.

His leader dead, his ship confiscated, and most of his crew surrendered, Skull 2 finally surrendered. It had NOTHING to do with Vhe's tender treatment of him or the fact the last time his blaster had flew from his hands. He stays on his knees and well lowers his head. "We Surrender." He calls out. Those of his team who hadn't already disarmed do so.

Kasia secures the pilot in a refresher and zip ties him in there. So when she comes out to join the others. There's a surrendered squad of bandits. There's Twi'lek cheering for the jedi from the edges. The herders are coming back with most of the herd. It appears the jedi have won the day.

Only when they are finally disarmed does Vhe begin to pull and draw the weapons into a pile near her and further from their touch. The Ysanna looks first to Zan. "We need to take them into custody. Do we have anything that will serve as binders? We can remit them to the judgement on Ryloth though I admit to having no familiarity with their system. But we need to restrict their movement, they could have other weapons on them."

She is keeping a watchul eye presently, taking steps closer towards the newly risen leader as the saber remains pointed towards the ground.

Zan smiles to Kasia, as she comes down. "Well done," she says first. She looks to Vhe and nods. "To the capital city for judgement, that seems reasonable, or back to the republic." She pauses, and then adds, "We can tie them up, and fly their shuttle to the capital city and turn them in." That said, she glances over at kasia to see if she's got any objections. Zan ducks into their ship, coming back out with the binders they have, so they can finish tying up the prisoners. "Meanwhile, do you suppose the lifestock - Is there anything we can do to help them?"

"What we can do to help them is to look for any valuables inside this ship," Kasia thumbs over her shoulder. "And let these people have it. Weapons, money, whatever else we can find. As long as this thing can still fly, they can have the rest of it as far as I'm concerned. Maybe it'll help them protect themselves next time bandits come calling." At some point during all of this she'd picked up the blaster of the man she secured in the fresher, and it's the first item to be tossed down onto the ground for the villagers to claim. "Then we can take these men to the city to face justice. How does tht sound?"
