The Jedi Order sets out to investigate attacks on missionaries from a village near to their former temple on Devaron

OOC Date: March 29 2022
Location: Devaron Jungle
Participants: Nora Frayus, Rune, Qutha Buvu Pah, Aryn Cortess, Yuun

RP Rating and Summary

Rating: PG-13 (Some violence)

After being contacted by a village near to what was once the Jedi Temple on the planet Devaron, a party of Jedi set out to investigate the cause of the tremors that woke the villagers in the middle of the night. What they found was a series of roughly and disturbed terrain and topography that they determined was caused by Watchbeasts. Massive, worm-like creatures native to the planet Devaron, Watchbeasts typically spent their time eating decomposed plant matter well beneath the surface of the planet. Something was driving them from their natural habitat.

The cause of the disturbances made itself known to the Jedi shortly after they were charged by one of the Watchbeasts. A band of human (or near human) tribal-like hunters were chasing the creature, driving it from the jungle and towards the village! They hurled noxious compounds that drove the creature towards the surface, damaging its carapace and making it vulnerable to their primitive spears, bows, and blowguns. The Jedi were able to steer the frantic and afraid Watchbeast away from the village and into the far woods nearer to the Temple, but when they approached the humans, they found themselves unable to communicate. Afraid, one human attacked the Jedi!

When one hurled its spear, one of the Jedi was able to use the Force to deflect it, but seeing such strange and god-like powers come from mere humans seemed to make the tribe afraid. "Forto! Forto!" they cried, and made for the woods. When Jax Greystorm approached the fallen spear, his sense echoes revealed a tragic truth.

These were orphans from a distant planet. Their ship had somehow crash-landed here, and they'd set about the process of burying and mourning their dead. "Like Firebirds in the sky," they sang, images of flame and ash rising up towards the heavens and the jungle canopy above. "Join the stars up above; Up there, way up high."

So much time has passed since last we met
Seasons have come and gone
As Gods and Kings that rule the land and yet
To see you again gives me the strangest feeling
As if no time has passed at all, my dearest friend.
--The Priestess Yn'alnia, Reunited With her Familiar atop the Great Temple at On'tensai--

"What I speak to you is true, it was seen by our villager's own eyes. For many months, those you saw have been quiet within the jungles. We thought, perhaps, they meant to simply live. To simply survive. But when we attempted to approach with aid and the promise of peace, we were met with violence. Two of our missionaries were injured, though thankfully they found themselves able to escape. These people -- these Firebirds. They are savage, and the Watchbeast activity has increased again. I believe they mean to use them as weapons. We're afraid, Jedi."

The villagers at Tikaroo were unambiguous. Fear has a way of distilling people down to the simple stuff that makes them up, after all. An ancient part of the brain, the same thing that draws some sentients to fire and makes them afraid of the dark. The way into the jungle was hardly treacherous, though its technical terrain demanded constant attention, lest one find their boot hooked into an upturned root and their pristineley-manicured and well-moisturized legs smeared with mud and potentially scraped.

Enter Nora Frayus, having just planted her knees and hands in a bit of mud and looking exasperatedly up towards the party that heads into the woods ahead of her. The air is warm and wet, much like their surroundings. The sun has begun to set low in the Devaronian sky, painting it dream-like shades of yellow, orange and red, darkening the nearer to the horizon it went. Up above, the lush jungle canopy shakes with a warm wind. The tree limbs look alive, really. Like they very well may be the waves of an ocean, or a breathing organism itself. Somewhere far away, there is a mournful cry of a watchbeast as it rises to the surface to briefly pull in a massive, body's worth of air. It's said they can remain beneath the earth for many hours. Some scholars even believe days.

"It could be more dry, I think," Nora says, helping herself off and inspecting her knees for bits of red mixed in with brown. No such pigment, so she sets about wiping her muddy palms on a broad, nearby leaf slick with water. The jungle air is quiet, but the party is near to where the missionaries had been attacked. Best be on guard.

[ Rune (R)]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Rune remembers the last time they encountered the strange people with the spears, not quite savage but not nearly cultured, as one would think, either. His eyes are narrowed as they enter the woods, peering about them for any sign of trespass or even warning signs of an ambush. He tries to reach out with the Force, attempting to communicate with the past, to see what occurred, what brought the people to this violence and maybe an inkling of how they might be able to help them.

Instead the young Ysannan Padawan finds himself drawn in to the beauty of their surroundings, the shift of the trees in the gentle breeze, the fading colors of the sun, and the lush surroundings near the Temple, the place they were fortunate to train and call their own. "Really, in spite of all the violence that could have happened and still threatens too, it is rather lovely around here." This spoken from a man who was used to decades spent on an orange planet with brown and orange soil and a bright orange and hostile environment. Though he's not wrong, anything compared to that is the most priceless piece of art.

[ Qutha Buvu Pah (Qutha)]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

One with the Force and the Force is with him. He is one with the Force and the Force is with him...

Standing still, hands folded before him but with his eyes open, Qutha stares into nothing and everything at once, looking into himself, the Force. Calming and centered to await any message or direction he might feel from the life energy surrounding and binding but otherwise quiet while Rune speaks aloud, for a few moments at least before he begins to speak in a distant voice.

"Violence s'inherent in all places, regardless of what sommat wants of them. Nature does what sh' pleases despite what beings would want of it." blinking slowly and looking towards the trees, reaching out with his feelings "If'n we find these folk, there'll be a patch'a violence. Mayhap not physical, but emotional or psychological f'sure. There's too many differences."

Hands lifting to smooth his robe with a murmured "Bother..." when he manages to get some burrdocks off of his hip.

[ Aryn Cortess (AC)]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Aryn walks with mindful caution, turning her gaze to their surroundings to read the lay of the land. Prior to her time with the Jedi and return to Court, Aryn had been trapped with a group of primitive species on an uncharted world and no hope of rescue. She knew that primitive life was connected, in their own way, with nature. The jungle, in this instance, was likely their 'temple', and the heavens above likely unknown, to some degree, or perhaps shrouded in mysticism.

In her quiet speculation, Aryn's observation of their surrounding renders quickly in her mind as she realizes they've entered a clearing that's been fresh cut and cleared. Furthermore, smooth rocks and boulders affording height and vantage, dot the outer perimeter of their current setting giving the doctor pause. "Walk no further, my friends. I feel we walk blindly toward ambuscade." A gloved hand with pointed fingers orients to the respective rocks and boulders in question, and Aryn steps back a bit.

To the notion of their surroundings, or the weather, the commentary seems lost on Aryn. She may have missed it being buried in her own thoughts, like she normally is.

[ Yuun (Yun)]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Yuun walks along the surrounding area, he is mindful to what Qutha has pointed out and he stops when Aryn tells them to stop. Yuun does and he crouches down looking around and as he does he takes a breath, he's a few meters away from the others, but his eyes seem to have caught something and as he looks his gazes come across some natural remedies. He quirks a brow up as he sees some remenants of curative poltices near the village. He glances around and notices a few other things have been dug up. "Hmm...yeah we should watch our steps." he says.

[ Nora Frayus (Nora)]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Nora turns towards Rune as he attempts to reach out and connect to the Force. She tips her head curiously while she watches him. Say what you will about Nora Frays -- silly, arrogant, often times a bit too complainy. But she is sharp. Intelligent. When she watches Rune attempt to tap into the echoes of this place, it isn't with idle curiosity, but with one a touch more hungry than that. Purposeful.

"Nature is smelly, wretched, and horrid," Nora declares to Qutha, having just wiped her hand on that rain-slicked, broad jungle leaf and gotten most of the mud off her palm. That palm is turned upwards as she gestures towards the leaf, as if to demonstrate her point. There's a wrinkle of her nose and a soft laugh as he plucks a few burrdock from his hip, but it's Aryn's words that arrest the party's motion. An ambuscade? Nora's mouth drops open a moment and she peers out towards the rocks that would provide not only precious HIGH GROUND, but also a decent enough space to hide. A moment of quiet sees a tension that could shatter like ice on a warm spring day, and then Yuun has found a spot of freshly-foraged herbs, nuts, and roots. Medicine.

She opens her mouth to ask exactly what they are, but it's too late! The strange, eerie, discordant chimes that are Nora's perception of the force erupt at once, and her body knows that means to move. From the ambush point that Aryn had indicated, rocks are hurled from just behind.

"Ohsnho! Krellip!" comes a female voice. The stones are palm sized and, while primitive, could pack a considerable punch were they to impact someone. Stepping from the shadows in the jungle is a light-skinned man in his late twenties. Green warpaint dots his face, and an ornate spear tucked beneath his arm sees its tip pointed towards the Jedi. He's got a stone in his left hand and he's making broad gestures.

"Mlren! Mlren!" he's saying. Though his words are alien and strange, that gesture is obvious.

Leave.

A few others emerge as well. One, a dark-skinned woman with a recurve bow, arrow knocked and drawn back. Another, a young, light-skinned girl with bright gold eyes. She has scrapes on her hands and knees, but two rocks in her shaking hands, ready to throw if she has to.

[ Rune (R)]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Rune's eyebrow lifts lightly at the comments from Qutha, lips pulling into a thin line as he considers the words. "True. Seems that is all we bring at times. Even in trying to keep the peace, attempting to help those that need it, violence and difficult change follow." He sighs as they continue, stopping deftly in place at the warning from Aryn. "What is it, what do you see?" the Padawan asks, hazel eyes peering hard at their surroundings in search of the danger.

According to Yuun, the danger is in other places as well. Rune looks hard to his feet and the surrounding area, eyes wide in search of any traps that lie beneath the dirt or hidden underneath some foliage. "We are only intent on speaking with them, yes? And if they attack, what should we use to defend? Jax already frightened them with his minimal use of the Force..."

The question finds at least one resolution when the rocks come flying from behind cover. Rune dodges this way and that, not with preternatural speed but with an awareness of where each rock is going to fly and making sure he is not in that area. Once the first wave of danger is passed, the Initiate raises his hands palm out, showing he is unarmed and is not a threat. "Peace! Peace!" He shouts in return, knowing that they do not understand his speech but hoping his actions and body language are translated better.

[ Qutha Buvu Pah (Qutha)]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Halting, adjusting how his hood rests about his neck, Qutha's eyes lift and flit point to point to see if he might find the ambush that Aryn warns could happen, brow lifting, "You're part of nature, Nor-" hopping to one side and looking to the trio whom have come into view and that Rune is shouting peace at.

Brows lifted, hands up with palms facing before he reaches out - speaking in a softer tone.

"No weapons. No violence. No harmful intent." language may be a barrier, but the intent for calm is sent forth by him through the Force.

[ Yuun (Yun)]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

The force didn't warn Yuun but his allies do, he glances up and notices their ambushers and he quickly moves to his feet. He moves his hands out to his side, the dark skinned Jedi Knight doesn't wear typical Jedi clothing, but he feels the force stir about them.

Yuun hears Rune then Qutha, he steps forward and off to the side, "We've come in peace, we're not your enemies. We're here to help." he says using just basic language just in case someone does understand but language is a barrier for them but hopefully with calm talking this will de-escalate.

[ Aryn Cortess (AC)]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Aryn hits the nail on the head just as the primitives appear. Her mind goes to trying to interpret their movements, which proves fatal for Aryn, in a sense. Her other instincts are not honed at that moment, resulting in the collision of a stone against her head. It catches Aryn off guard and she lands on the ground and in the mud. A thin stream of blood comes from her mouth and she spits into the mud before rising up and flinging mud from her gloves. Her attempt at regaining her composure leaves her cheeks red (especially in the spot where she was hit), and breathing harshly.

The question yet remains on how they aught respond, and Aryn has a notion in that instance to send every rock in this court yard toward the one responsible for hitting her. This reaction passes though as she tries to center herself. Instead of addressing the primitives, she takes to removing her gloves, sighing aloud, unable to truly embody any sense of diplomacy in this state.

[ Nora Frayus (Nora)]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

A few more rocks are hurled harmlessly overhead and underfoot from within the dense jungle. Their presence remains a reminder that the three near humans are not the only ones watching them. Rune's shouting and gesturing sees the three turn their attention towards him, taking a defensive step backwards. The dark-skinned woman with the arrow nocked points the tip towards her and the little girl less-than-menacingly lifts her trembling hand to throw.

But then something happens. Qutha speaks and all three of them... blink. There is murmuring from within the woods -- hushed and almost fearful sounds of those unaffected by the push of calming energy. Still, the Jedi appear to be doing more good than harm with diffusing tensions. Yuun is able to approach and the two older humanoids are lowering their weapons. This seems a great relief to the young girl, whose arms are straining to hold her stone. She drops it to the ground and lets out a powerful sigh.

"In'tok... mosa?" the man asks, just as a final rock is hurled. It is supposed to sail high over Aryn's head, but the aim is far from true. Instead it strikes, leading the bow-wielding woman to hiss and turn towards the bushes.

"Hset! Hset!" she yells, and throws her arrow on the floor. The littlest runs, driven by instinct, towards Aryn.

"Ellila!" the man yells, but it's too late. She's already near the Princess, digging into her pockets to draw out a bit of that herbal poultice. Thick and sweet smelling, the little thing, if Aryn lets her, will set about applying it to her wound.

It's then that a loud, gutteral scream rips out through the air. A Watchbeast. The two villagers, as well as the seven (!!!) that were in the ferns scramble to their feet and shout in alarm. They are likewise compelled by instinct, and run through a carved-path towards the source of that sound.

Nora Frayus' eyes track the little one on her way to Aryn, watching the situation de-escalate with a heavy sigh exhaled through her lips. She takes a few steps closer and stoops a little low to check on Aryn. "That was quite a blow, Your Grace," she murmurs, and the little girl beside them looks a touch tentative, but doesn't stop applying her medicine. The feeling of it is numbing and cooling. It probably doesn't heal anything, but it will certainly numb a bit of pain. When the watchbeast screams, Nora stands abruptly. Those villagers begin to race off, and the noblewoman brings her hand to her sword to hold it in place as she moves.

"I will follow them! That beast sounded close, they may need help," she says.

[ Rune (R)]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

With all the commotion, rocks flying, words being yelled, Force being thrown, the moment with the child is enheartening. A smile brims across Rune's lips at her actions, the true care of innocence being shown amid the tension of oppression. However, the peace doesn't last long as a beast cries out farther in the jungle. As all turn to run toward the sound, Rune does as well. However, his feet were planted firmly in a layer of slick, slick mud.

After one attempt at quick starting, slipping and falling, a second attempt... this time using the Force... also slipping and falling, Rune crawls along toward the noise, grumbling quietly while covered with mud. "Such glamour, the life of a Jedi." He flings some of the muck off when he finally gets to his feet, loping through the forest to help with the beast in whatever way possible.

[ Qutha Buvu Pah (Qutha)]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Little girl with a poultice, rocks, anger, confusion. Qutha's lips flatten and he turns a slow circle to try and take in all of the commotion around them, shaking his head for the lack of understanding in language. The shouting and anger turning to momentary alarm an confusion for the roar and then the mad dash towards the watchbeast sound. Looking to Rune as he falls and making that particular 'erk' face - of one who is already in motion and can't stop.

"Bother." letting the Force flow again, to guide him and finding it pushing him to follow. Legs picking up and his body blurring some to catch up with and pace the PRIMITIVES now likely set to chase and harm the creature making the sound.

"Bother and blow..." The enhancements to his movements allotting for a lot more breath to speak as well!

[ Aryn Cortess (AC)]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Aryn is moved more by the act of kindness shown by the little one, and she nods her head to allow the girl to treat her. Nora's comment goes unanswered, not because Aryn ignored her, but because something was happening in the camp. Aryn's first instinct is to claim the smaller one protectively. Nora's reaction had been to reach for a sword and say she was going to check it out; Aryn's first reaction was to get the child to safety, then see what was happening so she could help.

She, and the little primitive girl, find a place to hide from the watchbeast for a moment.

[ Yuun (Yun)]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Yuun watches as things settle down and he looks to the one who threw the rock that hit Aryn, "Please we come in peace." he says. He notices the weapons coming down, and others talking to their own people to lower thier own weapons. Giving a small nod of his head, Yuun keeps his eyes on tribal members. He looks around at the others, but then he hears the scream and then there is action. Yuun sees the young girl run over to assist Aryn, that act of kindness causes the man to smile.

He doesn't run just yet, making sure Aryn is ok and then he looks to where the others are going. "I'm going with them, call me if things get crazy." he says to Aryn as he takes off down the same path as the others.

[ Nora Frayus (Nora)]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Those Jedi that pursue the other villagers that scramble up the narrow jungle path are quick to find out why the missionaries from the village near the temple were met with hostility. Indeed, why they themselves were met with hostility. It's only a few short moments of sprinting -- two hundred and fifty meters at most -- that sees them burst into a jungle clearing that is the site of the last Flight of the Firebird. An ancient, space-faring vessel lies in a wreck, scorched ground and fallen trees carving a path through the jungle from its descent from space to atmosphere.

Their arrival was certainly a violent one. Looks of confusion from primitive humans are given to their strange visitors, but most of their attention is focused on the Watchbeast that bursts through the ground at the far end of the village!

"Krawwweeeeeee!!!" comes its mournful sound. It might be easy to forget just how -massive- these creatures are. The one at the village dwarfs even the wreckage of the ship, casting long shadows as it cuts its way into the sky and blocks out what little sun makes it through the canopy.

Shouting from the villagers is heard as they attempt to drive it away. Vials of noxious acid are hurled at its carapace, spears and arrows thrown towards it. But there's more, too.

To reach the worm, the Jedi will have to traverse through the makeshift town that has been erected in the ruins of that ship. Small cottages and lean-tos dot the landscape, but those with the presence of mind to look at the surroundings will notice, quite quickly, the state of those within.

Injuries and disease are rampant through this makeshift village, with various huts dedicated to what appears to be some sort of medical triage. Those within are helpless to aid their companions in their confrontation with the Watchbeast, most only able to moan in pain and look on. The woman with the bow is the first to arrive, and she immediately begins loosing arrows towards the worm creature's exposed spots. The man with the spear just ahead of Nora catches his foot on a rock, roughly crashing towards the ground and impacting his chin with a lout --crack-- just by the medical tents.

Nora slows her step and stoops to roll him over, but when she does, she sees a vacant face. She recoils with a gasp and her eyes turn to examine his chest for signs of breathing. Ragged and shallows and gasping, he's scraped skin off his chin, exposing flesh and a hint of bone.

"By the Mother," she says, turning to look at the injury and illness all around.

The little girl that is with Aryn is restless, though she does cling to the woman as she's carried. There is an implicit trust that comes with being a child. The same trust that drove her towards the injured Alderaanian and saw her apply that healing poultice to her cheek. When they reach their hiding spot, Aryn might find it difficult to manage the girl. She wants to slide out from it -- to join those at the village. To rejoin her family and help them, if she possibly can.

"Honna... honna!" she says, gesturing towards Aryn, and then the path towards the village.

"Min honil, honna!" she tries to say.

[ Rune (R)]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

When they arrive at the scene of the primitive's arrival, the makeshift village, the number of folk strewn about, Rune's eyes widen even more. The fog of pestilence, the ravage of disease, all is apparent on the villagers' faces as the Ysannan dashes through, heading for the beast on the other side. His face is set with grim determination, the mood brought on by the nature of the health of those around him, eyes locked to the far end of the settlement.

Upon arriving, the Padawan slides to a stop, eyeing up the huge beast and raising his hands as non-threateningly as he can. However, the size of the creature, the rage it feels, and the efforts of the villagers to turn it away from their home all cause the Force to leave the learning Jedi. Instead, the gentle touch he intends to lay on the Watchbeast's mind becomes a glancing blow, deflected by its anger and pain, the beast continuing unabated on its course of destruction. "Kriff... that, that did not work as planned." He watches in growing fear as the creature bears down on the lot of them.

[ Qutha Buvu Pah (Qutha)]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Not at all the scene expected, this shanty town, this slum of those who crashed and let themselves go to seed - or were allowed to do so by other inhabitants of the world. A step to run becomes a dodge to the side to avoid running into a villager, only to run half into the side of a ramshackle hut. Twirled on his other foot, the pain in his now self-abused face is a distraction that lets him think, for the moment, he's lost his 'grip' on the force.

Forgetting one cannot grip the force.

Overcorrection and attempts to regain his footing leading him to trip next over a well made woven basket that was where -it- was supposed to be. The world is an amazing start of a kaleidoscope now for Poor Qutha who has enough time to get out a "Dat'raddit" before he hits face first, flips over and lands on his back with that all to well known 'Huhhhhnnnnnnnnnnhhhhh' of the wind being knocked out of someone.

[ Aryn Cortess (AC)]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Aryn is pulled along by the girl to join the others in the village, and she slows from a run, to a walk, to a stand still to take in the sights a moment. The need for urgency remained, but urgency was perceived differently for a Jedi. From first look, those injured of the 'primitive' group appear to be simple treatments provided they had modern medicine. Then, there was the matter of the injured man with Nora, on the ground barely breathing. Lastly, there was the matter of the watchbeast. Aryn could tell by the ground where it presumably emerged that it was a well traveled location. "Hmmm, I suspect these people may have crashlanded where these beasts migrate, or at least, along their migration path. This is not malicious, it is poor circumstance and bad luck."

With the others moving to deal with the watchbeast, Aryn arrives by Nora's side to assess the man and his current condition. He'd need surgery, Aryn thought, but she'd have to feel along his face to know for certain.

[ Yuun (Yun)]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Yuun is one of the latter runners coming to the encampment, his breathing is controlled as he runs through the forest. He's missed being here on Devaron, but for now he pushes those thoughts away as there are more pressing matters to attend to. He allows the force to flow through him as he moves.

Slowing down as he comes into the village, he sees the state of the village, but Yuun pushes on. "Please those who can help them, do so, I will go to help with the Watchbeast." he says as he is nimble and moves through the village careful to watch his footing and trust in the force as he moves.

He sees Rune and follows in his direction and he moves to the Padawans left as he slows to a stop. Holding his hand out towards the creature, "Hello my friend, easy." he says as Yuun exerts his feelings towards the creature, "Easy." he says as he watches the creature, "Calm Rune." he says to the Padawan. Yuun can't split his attention and focuses on the Watchbeast, "You're alright my friend, be at ease." he says more with his feeling then speaking, but speaking helps Yuun. As Yuun connects with the creature, he feels the confusion and fear. He can sense that this is it's normal migration route that these creatures used for years. "I will stay with the creature, we will need to find a way to possibly move the people though." Yuun tells Rune.

[ Nora Frayus (Nora)]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

While the connection between the Watchbeast and Rune is elusive to chase, when he is joined by Yuun, the Jedi Order is able to make brief and calming contact with the creature itself. Its thrashing, desperate cries stay as Yuun begins to whisper to it. Those villagers with their weapons blink in confusion, looking back and forth towards one another, uncertain of exactly what to do. The woman with the bow that they'd encountered earlier nocks another arrow, pointing it towards one of the sensitive, acid-scorched parts of the creature's underbelly.

"Insana! Ho'tah!" she says, and looks over her shoulders towards the others. Their weapons are raised, but they seem hesitant to attack the creature any further. The woman with the bow turns to look at the Jedi and murmurs something in an apologetic tone. She draws that bow back and aims high towards the creature's weakened carapace!

By the medical tents, the man on his back is beginning to tense up. Careful stabilization of his neck has ensured that no permanent damage was caused from turning him open. A bit of luck and, perhaps, a hint at knowledge on Nora's part. Still, his breathing is rapid and his eyes race all around, but the rest of his body remains motionless.

"Paypa!" the young one says, that language, for whatever reason, almost universal in its application. She collapses onto her knees at his side, but Nora is careful to come between her hands and his body.

She tries to calm the girl. A quick, emulated movement of her thumb across her palm. A rippling of the force around her to try to reach out and touch that girl's mind. To calm her. To no avail. Still, it only means that the young thing turns to bury her face into the stranger's robes, smearing them with mud, tears, and probably a little bit of snot as well. Nora puts her arms around her and holds onto her while those in the medical tents begin to surround them, staring at Aryn and the unconscious man with the spear, powerless to help him in this state.

[ Rune (R)]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

"Once the beast is diverted and the people see no threat, I am certain we can convince them to move." A quick glance is given to the downed ship that lies half buried nearby. "If they are to remain, much care will need to be given to get them healthy and accustomed to their new lives." This is all said thanks to the time afforded them by Yuun's control of the creature. Rune was not so fortunate in his handling of the Watchbeast, but he does attempt to help the confused and enraged being move along. Remove the threat, restore order, and hopefully, HOPEFULLY, they'll be able to help these people in their lives.

The Ysannan had started to focus on the creature when the draw of the bow behind catches his attention. He turns to catch one of the archers nocking an arrow to launch at the calmed Watchbeast. "No!" He cries, gesturing wildly at her, waving his hands, and trying to distract her from her target. His words may be confusing, his motions upsetting, but Rune places himself in front of her arrow to hopefully prevent the missile from launching at her target. His hazel eyes are wide and pleading, praying for the best in this tense moment, hoping his action at least stalls her from her intent long enough for the Watchbeast to escape.

[ Qutha Buvu Pah (Qutha)]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

At Yuun's side as he calms the beast, mud covered on his face and back, bloody lipped and his hair is east. Shaking one leg to get a clod of mud from behind his knee before he walks right up to the creature, heedless of the size and the suicidal idea of the action. Reaching out to touch it, for where the great feeling hairs just out to brush and make contact.

He can't mimic the sounds it makes, but he coos to it all the same - daring to press his face against it in expectation that it hears instead of feels.

Momentary contact, small touches and vibrations to try and convince it to go and go deep where it has the soil and stone to shield it. Stepping back only when it begins to arch away, giving it one last gentle patting stroke.

Farm boys.

[ Aryn Cortess (AC)]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Healing has always been Aryn's true calling. While war has dictated her attention to a number of other arenas, this day, she settles in beside the helpless man to do what her gods given gift was.

She brushes her cape aside to bring out her satchel and open it, revealing an applicator already loaded with painkiller. This was a habit from the Resistance when she used to serve as a medic during field deployments.

Aryn injects the man, then takes a moment before feeling around his face and along his jawline. With it being off-set, she resets it with the right motion of her fingers pressing in on natural pressure points to encourage the bone to move.

Further examination revealed the true crux of his ailment though, and that was a spinal injury. There was no field medicine for this. Instead, Aryn took on a different look, as if she were praying over the male, her hands gently cupped about his neck. To those who could feel the Force though knew she drew upon its influence and power in the moment to reset the man's body. It took time, as this was not instant, but given time a miracle occurred, and his fate changed from never moving again to lifting his arms and legs once more. Aryn, though, remained motionless, focused on the task of healing and leaving the beast and other dangers to the Jedi around her.

[ Yuun (Yun)]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Yuun is still focusing on the worm and he smiles as he moves in closer to the Watchbeast, he tries to sense the route that it would take and tries to show it an alternate path that reconnects around this area and back to the it's original path if tht is possible. Yuun hears the creature and he grins a little, still new to this but he does what he can and when the creature moves on, he allows his influence to fade and he sighs a little, "That was amazing." he says. "Be well my friend." he says as he starts to make his way back to the encampment.

Language can be finnicky and strange. Even within some countries, dialects can make someone within driving distance nigh unintelligible at times. But there are things that are... universal. Smiles. Frowns. Laughter. Crying. The little girl screamed 'pipa!' and it was obvious to everyone that the man on the ground was her father. The woman nocking the arrow's vision being blotted out by Rune gives him a face that can only mean 'are you insane?'. And then there's Qutha, walking up to the worm itself -- the source of this village's pain and suffering and, in their minds, maladies. And he touches it. Presses his head to it.

The creature retreats back into the ground, touching the minds of both Jedi who remain in contact with it. It was afraid and confused, after all. But it has been given a warning and, somehow, both Yuun and Qutha know that it understood.

There are audible signs of worry and tension as Aryn injects and prepares the man, but the villagers know that nothing in their power can heal him or even ease his pain. One by one, she addresses each. His pain and then his injury. Miraculously, given enough time, his toes start to move. And then his knees bend. His daughter pulls her face from Nora's chest and looks down, sniffing and crying, just as his hands begin to move again.

"Pipa!"

She yells again. Nora is unable to hold onto her. She breaks free and pushes her face up against his chest, which he is amazed to be able to reach up and touch!

Murmurs all around the pair of Jedi beside him, but their tone seems to be one of inspiration and hope. Like I said, language can be finnicky and strange.

But some things, like love and gratitude, are universal.

Nora lets out a soft sigh of relief and rises to stand. She turns to look at the worm in its departures, and the villagers exchanging tense-but-friendly words with Rune, Qutha and Yuun.

Nora puts her hands up to those surrounding them in an attempt to get them to move back. "She needs space, please. Let her work," she says to them, but most are attempting to peek around the Jedi to watch the healing as it progresses.

With the events today, this village's fate, as well as the fate of the watchbeasts and the village outside the temple, are forever sealed.

  • Rune was able to stop the village's archer from delivering a fatal blow to the watchbeast, and displayed to the villagers a truly selfless act by putting himself between the creature and the arrow.
  • Qutha was able to drive the worm back into the ground. He did so using the Force, but perhaps most meaningful, he demonstrated to the villagers an act of kindness and compassion for a creature that had given them nothing but pain.
  • Aryn was able to save Ellila's father from death and paralysis. She did so using the Force and modern medicine.
  • Yuun was able to reach out with the Force to drive that worm away, and warn it from never returning.
