Knights of Ren: Delving Deeper

OOC Date: July 9, 2018
Location: Korriban
Participants: Knights of Ren: Kylo Ren, Lioria Thrace, and Ravelyn

In the intervening time since the Knights' last visit and the fight with the viscious, tusked, clawed, poisonous beast that came to life amongst the ruins. Needless to say, they've taken some time to recover before returning, and now as the ships have settled into the empty plains around the ruins, the ominous sensations from before have come right back, washing over the Force sensitive visitors.

The walk through what was once the town is a short, uneventful one, bringing them back to the place where they encountered the beast before, a sort of arena, a stone coliseum weathered by the years, idols and gargoyles lining the galleries above and staring out with eroded menace as the Knights approach.

"Below the arena I found some tunnels but I haven't searched them," Kylo explains, his helmet removed against the midday heat. "We'll go together. Something dark has taken up residence there. Another creature or something else, I can't tell." Leading the way into the arena, which opens up into a large bowl shape, stone bleachers sprawling away up the sides of the bowl, he points towards an arched doorway at one side. "For fighters, or athletes. Hard to say which this was for, but... My guess would be the former. There's a network of tunnels through there, and how far down they go, I can't say. As far as I could sense, and likely farther."

Lioria's just visiting all the damn desert planets this week. Jakku, now Korriban. She doesn't have her helmet off, because if she gets hit by another statue she's not wanting to get her head smashed. "Sounds like a plan then, Master Ren." the vocoded voice states. She then is heading off with the group. Being her usual quiet self, but she has her hand on the hilt of her sword, just in case!

Ravelyn is here, just like last time, still wearing the helmet and dark armor in spite of the warmth of the day. Considering the battering that happened last time, it's probably a precautionary measure as much as it is anything. "More creatures like last time? Exciting." It's probably hard to perceive just how dry the tone that last word is spoken in when it's filtered through the vocoder, but it is dry.

"I don't know," Kylo replies honestly, pulling his own helmet over his head as he steps in through the archway, pulling a torch from a ring on the wall and holding his hand over the end of it briefly as he concentrates the power of the Force to kindle a flame. "The path will be dark, and it will be hard to see. You may want to find torches of your own." Armed with his, he strides towards the rear of the room where the chamber, a large, roomy area lined with single benches hewn out of the rock along the walls, shifts from carved to natural, looking as though a cave in the rock were hollowed out and expanded to form this area.

Lioria looks at the flame and then there's a look down to her BB unit. A few more steps are taken and she finds a torch, but apparently the FORCE IS NOT WITH HER and she can't light it. She crouches down, "Be a love." the vocoded voice states to her droid. He doots in compliance and sparks the torch into a lit blaze. Then she continues on down the way as he rolls back to the back of the group again. Watching their backs. Just in case.

Just like Kylo did, Ravelyn takes a torch and tries to light it. Only nothing happens. A second try, and once again nothing. The third time isn't a charm here, not so much as a spark happens. There's an irritable sound made that carries through the mask, and then the torch is simply tilted toward Kylo's so that some of THAT fire can do what Ravelyn failed to do with the force. "If we find any, hopefully they're not as immune as the last one was."

It's not a skill many have trained in, though it's definitely a Dark Side thing and ASIIR WOULD HAVE BEEN ALL OVER IT, but finally the torches are lit and some light is spread around the tunnel. The passageway is close, not leaving much room to spare as they go, and the three (plus whoever eventually might slip in behind them) are forced into single file with Kylo leading the way, his cowl obscuring his features from those behind him as he follows the path down. Eventually the tunnel comes to a fork, and his helmeted head turns to consider first one direction and then the other. "What do you sense?" he asks his companions, turning towards them and sticking his torch out to point down one. "This or the other?"

Lioria wasn't going to be able to use the Force for everything. She'd made peace with that already. So she gives a look to the walls as they walk and then she stops when they approach the fork. She closes her eyes behind the visor and tries to will her senses to reach out. And they listen! "To the right. Something dark, but it's faint." she tells them as she points down the way.

Ravelyn slips into that single file line as the passageway narrows, careful to lift the torch up so that it won't unintentionally set any robes ablaze. That is only fun if it's on purpose. Boots crunch on bits of rubble, but otherwise the steps are relatively quiet, slowing a touch when the question is asked. "I don't sense anything." Just as last time. Maybe the force just eludes Ravelyn on this planet.

"I sense it too," Kylo agrees with Lioria, nodding his masked head and ducking down the right branch with the torch. The trail winds deeper and deeper below the arena above, taking them further underground. Eventually the downward slope begins to level out and the walls widen, giving the trio a little more room to operate. Up ahead, a new light starts to become apparent. "Put out your torches." The Supreme Leader shoves his against the damp floor, stomping it out with his boot.

Lioria gives a bit of a look after Kylo and then heads down the right path. She makes quick work of the torch as well when it's needed to be gotten rid of. Because she's not wanting to draw attention to them. "I don't think this tunnel is big enough for that thing." she states quietly.

Ravelyn likewise angles the torch down to the floor, the flames sizzling against the damp ground. A heavy boot stomps on it a few times, leaving behind only vibrant embers on the ground that hopefully isn't flammable. "This definitely doesn't look like it's one of those creatures." The words are spoken quietly, and transmitted a little louder and more sharp than they would have been otherwise.

From the ledge they've exited out on, the Knights can see a small outpost set up here in the cave beneath the arena, equipped for only a few people, and hopefully all of those few are down there tending to their tasks, whatever that may be. There's a sort of dark energy enveloping the room, and it isn't clear to the senses whether it's coming from the occupants or the area itself. Kylo glances at the other two, his mask expressionless and blank, and nods down at the outpost. "We'll take them. If they surrender, we'll make them talk. If not... perhaps we can learn from the equipment left behind. I'll follow you."

Lioria doesn't have a lightsaber, so she can't ignite it and look badass going across. So...she just heads across, "Hey, what's that?" she asks as she points with one hand and with the other there's a chain of lightning that goes over their heads. "You never know what you're going to find in dark tunnels." the vocoded voice states flatly.

Ravelyn simply steps forward on the balcony and into the sight of the people below, watching for a few moments as Lioria makes her attack, gaze trailing unseen after the lightning, then back down to the people below. "Step back from whatever it is you're doing, and line up just there." Some spot away from equipment is pointed to. "If you would like to live to see another day." Just to put an emphasis on this point, it's now that the lightsaber is shifted from belt to hand, thumb depressing the button so that the red beam springs out menacingly. "If you would like to die, by all means, continue doing what it is you're doing."

"Don't kill me!" one of them immediately shouts, a thin man with tousled brown hair, his voice reedy and unimposing. "I was just paid to be here! Don't kill me!" He retreats towards the wall where Ravelyn had indicated, while the other two seem less inclined to oblige. Quickly, they reach for weapons on their belts, but they're not much good against these Force-sensitive warriors who've discovered their operation here in the tunnels below the surface, and their shots go wide or are easily dodged by the Knights. "Come on then and stop us!" one of them yells, apparently not realizing what a bad idea this all is.

Lioira gives a look to them, "The smart one gets to live. The dumb ones don't." she shrugs. Then the one in crimson armor is drawing her vibroblade and going in for the attack. She brings it up and then arcs it down, connecting with flesh and bone.

"Alright then." Ravelyn doesn't move from the comfort of the balcony, and rather than attacking with the lightsaber in hand, the other stretches out at the person that Lioria isn't attacking. It's with that terrifying invisible force that the blaster weilding fool is hit, and thrown back against the wall not too far from the guy who surrendered.

When Lioria slices deep into one of the unknown men, he gives a scream of pain, staggering backward, blood and other bodily fluids already starting to weep down the side of his body, but with persistent mediocrity he levels his weapon on the red-armored woman and fires wildly. Meanwhile, his companion is thrown back against the wall, smashing hard into the rock, but his grip on his blaster is tight and he returns fire up on the ledge, striking a blow against Ravelyn that is weirdly useless against her. "What are you?!"

Lioria gives a growl when the blaster bolt flies past her and she runs the vibroblade through the midsection of the one that fired at her and twists the blade. She lets go of the grip once he's slumped forward and then pulls it free, letting his lifeless corpse fall forward onto the ground as she walks away from him. There's a emotionless gaze given to the man that had surrendered.

Ravelyn is hit, but it must have been either an especially weak blaster, or this armor is amazingly proficient at protecting the person wearing it. Whatever the case, the helmeted head angles down to look at the place where the blaster hit, then back up again. "Someone you shouldn't have shot at." Which is all the warning that the guy gets before he's yanked forward in the air, and then thrown back once more against the hard wall of their work space. Hard enough to both full the space with a meaty thud, and a cracking that was clearly something important, because when he hits the floor he doesn't get back up again. "You." The gloved hand aims at the guy who has already surrendered. "You're still going to cooperate with us, yes? Tell us what all of this is? Come along nice and polite?"

"Anything you want," the thin man replies nervously, looking between the assembled figures in various frightening robes and armor, holding up empty hands and hurrying towards the equipment scattered around the room. "I was just paid to come down here! I don't really know anything! All they told me was they wanted to know what was on THIS." Stumbling around a computer interface, he throws back a panel with quivering hands and reveals a small, pyramid-shaped object. "I don't know how they found it, I don't know how to get into it, I'm just a slicer, I don't know anything, it won't work, I told them that," he hurriedly assures the three of them, meandering towards the terminal and leaning against it. "Please, there's no one else down here, you've killed them all, just let me go."

Lioria gives a bit of a breath out at what he reveals and there's a moment the woman just stares at it. It's beautiful. To her at least! "Move away." she states as she brings up the sword again. Then she goes to take the holocron out of it's resting place. "There we are." she whispers. "Look at you." she sounds happy through the vocoder. She steps away from the man, "If you do anything stupid I'm going to cut your head off." she tells him.

"It's a holocron," Kylo's vocoded voice announces, watching as Lioria scoops it up. "And it's coming with me." Abruptly, there's a ragged crash of sound and his lightsaber comes crackling into life, a quick downward swing dropping the thin man to the floor in a smoking heap before the weapon is extinguished again. "They can't be accessed without the Force. You need more than a slicer." A boot nudges the dead man's body almost derisively, holding out a gloved hand towards Lioria. "Give it here. We'll head back to the surface. I will meditate on this and see if it can be opened." The object itself seems to be dead in her grasp, just an ordinary chunk of metal and glass in the shape of a pyramid.

Once it's handed over, he'll rekindle his torch and lead the way back up the tunnels, evidently satisfied with the day's investigation. Another clue, or the end of the trail? Only time will tell.

"It's a Sith Holocr..." Lioria starts to explain but then Kylo is swinging in with the schwarmschwarm of his lightsaber. She looks to Kylo's hand after the Slicer has been killed and she reaches out to place the holocron into his hand, "Yes, Master Kylo." she nods to him. The Archaeologist in her was so sad. She at least got to lay hands on one! She follows the two other Knights out quietly and there's a pat to R0's head once they get back out, "All is well." she tells him as they head back to the Starstream. "We should get back to Coruscant and see how Thrawn is doing.".
