Knights of Ren: Shadows of the Past

OOC Date: June 25, 2018
Location: Korriban
Participants: Knights of Ren: Kylo Ren, Asiir Cuul, Dreman Bryce, Lioria Thrace, Ravelyn

Korriban. The burial planet where Sith of many eras lay entombed. Its barren wastelands spread far and wide, away from the ruins where the Knights have gathered. "I did some looking into the girl on Kohlma," Kylo is saying to the others, his helmet held in his hand, wearing his black robes. A cracked stone edifice rises high above them, overshadowing the group. "Her clothes were patterned after a Sith design, and the red lightsaber was... blatant. It's not hard to think that someone like that may have visited here, so I flew over and sensed something stirring. A disturbance in the Dark Side." His eyes turn to wander over the cluster of ruins here, far from the Valley of Lords. "The Sith are dead. We will keep them that way. Keep your senses on alert. I feel a presence here but nothing more." A slow easterly wind drifts through the air, rousing the dust around their feet.

Asiir's TIE Silencer rests nearby the Shadow, the Cathar having flown it from his position on Serenno out to Korriban. He had been to the planet before. Long ago, before he had joined with the Knights of Ren. But there was no need to mention that now, given that it had been a fruitless trip. As a slow wind blows through the area, Asiir's cloak billows about his shins and he takes the time to reach to pull the deep hood of his cloak up and over top his head to protect his eyes from the stirring dust.

The weight of the world had crept into Bryce's head the minute he stepped from the Ferrata, following with him wherever he went. Korriban was a cold world, one whose heart was filled with treachery and betrayal. Now the world sought to betray them, and it didn't care to whom. Bryce made habits of seeking out dangerous worlds, and it fit with the history that Korriban's danger was in its cunning.

"East," the vocoded voice offers in an icy breath. He could almost make out the form of it, but, the Dark side was harder to see. "Among the ruins," he adds, before his half-masked face scans the others.

Lioria had been hesitant to get off of Shadow. It was something that she had done only when her BB unit had shocked her enough for her to get the hell off of the Supreme Leader's ship that she faced her fear of seeing this place again. Now the crimson armored woman was standing with the rest of them and she in her normal quiet state. There's a look to Bryce when he speaks and then in the direction that he states. Interesting. She'd felt nothing.

As with the other TIE, Ravelyn's silencer is nearby, having decided to fly here rather than catch a ride. The robed figure stands somewhere near Kylo, helmeted head turning to regard Bryce as he speaks. "If it's connected to that woman, I suppose we should be prepared for another swarm of those cultists too," the vocoded voice remarks, heavy booted feet turning and then starting in the indicated direction.

Everyone's got their vocoders on, so Kylo's helmet goes on as well, covering his face behind a mass of tangled chrome. The mouthplate lowers into position with a click, and his step moves to follow Ravelyn towards the east. The ruins here once formed a primitive sort of settlement, a town of some kind, and the stone buildings have fallen into disarray. Statues of featureless figures line the weathered road, exotic carved ornamentations now worn down to vague, bulbous shapes. The Supreme Leader strides with something resembling caution, his head moving left and right, and with all of the Knights being sensitive to the Force, they can feel each other's power and probing, perhaps muddying the waters when it comes to sensing outside forces.

The air is quiet, only the sound of booted feet moving over worn cobbles.

Asiir has no fancy helmet or mask, but the hood does at least manage to cast a shadow over his face, even if it does nothing to mask the slightly primal nature of his voice. As the others begin to move in the easterly direction, so too does Asiir. His stride is slow at first, allowing the others to get ahead of him so that he might serve as a rear guard of sorts... or so that if trouble should strike, he will have a few people between him and the trouble, should they need to retreat. Feline eyes, beginning to rim red around each iris scan left to right as he walks further along the path, the weight of the dark side on Korriban stirring within the Cathar and causing his fists to clench at his sides at the feeling of roiling darkness and power all about him.

"Even at their height, the cultists of the Bando Gora weren't often seen off of Kohlma. Vosa's agents were not exactly subtle," Bryce offers in explanation carefully, as his feet carry him towards the things they were here to investigate. "Though, stranger things could happen," he adds.

Lioria gives a look to the ruins ahead and her head tilts to the side a bit, "There's a much larger life force ahead in those ruins. Not a man I'm guessing from the size." the vocoded voice states as she points to it. The building in question is a large one shaped like a bowl that might have had a roof at one point.

Ravelyn might not be picking up on the force elements of a presence, but other things are detected, and it's in the direction of those that the hooded figure heads. Though the helmet turns to regard Bryce as he speaks, nothing else comes from Ravelyn, simply continuing on toward that roofless building.

The Knights continue in relative silence towards the bowl-shaped ruins ahead, a sort of coliseum or arena from the looks of it on the outside, its walls lined with figures and carvings of varying shapes, sizes, and species. Some are massive, some are very tiny, and those in the crooks and crevices of the other ornamentations, pillars, buttresses, and so on, still have some detail in their effigy. Kylo Ren's pace doesn't change, but his head does snap up abruptly and all of a sudden, his path diverts quickly out of the ruined street.

A moment later, it becomes clear why, as one of the larger statues perched on one of the tiered wall levels abruptly comes to life, something the size of a small rancor, with clawed hands that latch onto an adjacent carving and launch it into the street towards the Knights with a low rumble. The spines on its back clash together as it lets out a roar, tusks glistening on both sides of its mouth. The creature seems to exude the same sort of connection to the Force the Knights themselves do, and landing in a cloud of dust, it leaps to the ground.

Asiir had been following along at the rear of the party, but that did not mean that he couldn't sense the sudden coming attack as a flare in the force, warning him of the looming danger. As the beast lunges for the group, Asiir takes a diving roll, tugging his lightsaber from beneath his cloak as he does so and igniting both blades as he rises into a crouch.

"She was a Jedi, once, before her resolve failed before the Darkside. As it always happens," Bryce says, before stopping suddenly in his steps. Then, shuffling his feet, he's quick to move out of the way of the mass of muscle and sinew that landed between them. An untransmitted grunt is offered, before Bryce realizes the thing was now amidst the other Knights.

Concern brims over within Bryce's mind, before his hand rises towards the hulk of a beast. In an instant, arcs of electricity flow along his fingertips before discharging towards the beast in an arc of colorful lightning tinged a deep purple hue.

Lioria only gets so lucky when it comes to the Force these days. And it seems she's ran out of luck on Korriban. And she already hates this place given her trip fifteen years ago. When the statue moves, the crimson clad woman doesn't manage to dodge it and she gets smacked by it which sends her rolling. But she's quick to get back on her feet. Again, she doesn't have a lightsaber, so her weapon today is her force pike. Which she runs at the beast with and strikes it.

Ravelyn pauses for only a second, long enough to grasp that danger was incoming, and then spins to hurry quickly after Kylo. Closely enough that it requires a sidestep of a couple of paces to avoid stepping on the hem of his robe. That would be poor form. "What is that thing?" The question crackles out of the vocoder in that sharp way it does, not immediately attacking as the others do. Instead, Ravelyn watches as the others attack, an unseen frown settling into place as the robed figure backs up a pace, and then other, knees bent slightly and hands up as though ready to move, to act, but simply observing for now.

"Trouble," Kylo answers back shortly to Ravelyn, pulling the lightsaber from his belt and activating the switch with his thumb, bringing the unstable blade shuddering forth, the crossguard leaping out shortly after. "Something old, it's... connected to the Force." It's not really clear if he recognizes the creature from somewhere or just figuring this out on the fly from what he can sense about it.

The creature itself lets out a howl of fury, flecks of spittle flying from its maw to land hissing in the dust. The claws and tusks have a wet luster to them, like the damp stalactites in a cave. The lightning from Bryce's attack sizzles and jolts against the thick, almost rocky hide, but if anything the beast seems enraged by the electricity rather than harmed by it, and with a halo of sparks, a clawed hand lashes out at Lioria in return, whipping by her helmet as it roars in response to the cut of her pike.

Asiir watches as the beast snarls in the face of the lightning attack and then makes a swipe at Lioria. The Cathar rushes forward, the blades of his lightsaber humming as he dances around the beasts legs, slashing out at one near where it connects to the torso, and then stabbing upward into the beast's belly with the second blade. The hide seems thick, almost pushing back at the lightsaber rather than allowing the blades to pass through.

As the lightning seems to have done little to the beast, Bryce takes a new approach. Rushing forward, the red lightsaber is pulled into his hands and activated, before his arm swings in a wide arc to throw the activated saber forward, towards the hulk. As soon as the lightsaber leaves his hand, Bryce drops low into a slide to remain somewhat low profile to the hulk, hoping vision was a weakness.

Lioria realizes that running up on the creature might have been foolish, but she'd landed on a Hssis here years ago and survived. Let's see if she can survive a second encounter with Korriban's wildlife. There are words that are coming from her vocoder as she spins the Force Pike to arc it up for another attack. Whether or not the others hear them is another story given the helmets been through some rough patches today.

"Yes, it is definitely that." Ravelyn's agreement comes as one gloved hand lifts, focusing on that unseen power they all possess to lift a sizable chunk of rock, or rubble up in the air, high, higher, it takes effort and focus to maintain it. It gets decently high in the air, and then shoots down at the creature so that the heavy, craggy stone crashes into it, hopefully not smacking any fellow Knights along the way. It's good though, it'll keep everyone on their toes.

The creature, whatever it is, is alternately chopped at, stabbed at, and hit by flying boulders, but it seems this thing thrives on this sort of attention, as its thick hide repulses the lightsabers almost as easily as the lightning that had been spat at it already. Singing scorchmarks of charred hide and flesh are left behind, but the sort of limb-severing blows that these weapons deal against most foes are not to be found here.

Even as the dark warrior closes to join the battle, his sputtering blade smacks against the beast with killing intent, but sparks fly, the hard skin on the thing's belly glows with the heat of its passing, but there is no spilling of entrails, and he's rewarded for his efforts with a swipe of a dripping claw, flecks of acrid liquid landing on his robes to fester and sizzle against the fabric.

Turning on the others, the terentatek roars its fury, gnashing its fang-lined jaw as massive clawed mitts lash out at them, snapping at Asiir with a clamping of teeth, claws nearly catching the corner of Bryce's garment.

Asiir leaps back as the beast lashes out to snap at him with those fearsome teeth, slashing across with the red blade of his lightsaber as the beast's face draws near enough to attempt and connect with the thing's eyes. The Beast is too fast, however, and Asiir has to content himself with lashing out at one of the arms that attempt to strike out at Bryce, his red blade connecting with a massive paw and severing a deadly claw to fall to the ground. A second attempt misses, his emerald blade sweeping harmlessly through the air.

As the beast almost manages to catch his cloak, Bryce focuses and draws his power inward. There's a flare of power as Bryce forces himself to react faster, respond quicker. As he rises back to his feet, Bryce lunges to grasp the hilt of his saber in a fluid motion to flank the hulk.

Lioria drops her pike when she sees that this thing isn't getting damaged by much else and there's a quick reach for her sword that is quickly brought out as she starts to see where the best place might be to strike at the behemoth. She's not thinking about the ones that might be bigger than this one. Once she's around to a good spot she strikes at the big meaty bastard.

The fight wears on with the terentatek, an old creature known in the old days as a Jedi killer. Ironic, then, that the Knights of Ren, Jedi killers themselves, would find themselves going toe to toe with one. The beast's blood flows hot and sticky from the severed appendage Asiir manages to lop off, thick and viscous as it drips into the dust or is flung through the air by its attacks. Surrounded by lightsabers, and devolving into a frenzy like an animal backed into a corner, its claws swing with devastating power at anyone it can reach. When Ravelyn's rubble crashes into the beast again, it lets out a guttural shriek of annoyance and pain, fumbling with an injured hand to quickly latch onto the missile and hoist it aloft, hurling it back.

Taking advantage of the delay, Kylo lunges in with an attempt at crippling the beast, crashing his blade against the back of its leg. It stumbles forward, but doesn't collapse, ridiculously hardy in the face of its attackers.

Asiir growls as the beast seems to be mostly impaired to his lightsaber strikes. He glances to the claws that had been severed recently, and then charges the beast. He dances around between the thing's legs, trying desperately to keep from getting killed as the thing staggers with with the weight of Kylo Ren's attack. When he is near enough, he reaches out with a hand and places it directly on the beast's leg, calling on all of the anger and fear within him, the hatred for this beast and the power he can feel in this planet as he attempts to siphon the monster's very life force.

Ducking low, Bryce's single visible eye scans the others quickly, before offering a low growl, feral. The crimson-bladed lightsaber is lifted and tossed enough for Bryce to take it into his hand backwards. He rises in a fluid motion as this happens, and he reaches out with his free hand to guide his feet up the hulk's back as he leaps forward. There's a catch, a stumble even, on one of the spines before Bryce recovers and, bringing the lightsaber above his head, sends the glowing sword directly into the being's back mercilessly.

Lioira manages to get on the recieving end of those talons from the Terentatek and it sends her flying backwards and landing with a very sickening thud. Thankfully she's wearing armor that's really well made. But she's slow to sit up and she does her visor is cracked. So she jerks the helmet off and tosses it to the side angrily, her white hair going everywhere as blood runs down her face. Her usually violet eyes red as she manages to get to her feet. "Thryoklosfi!" she shouts at the thing as her sword is held in her hand still. But she sees Bryce and the others working and the angered woman just channels a blast of lightning down the blade that's aimed at the beast, as she isn't going back in for the moment. "Zayin, oyamp ispo." she breathes out.

Evidently unlike the last time, distance didn't work its magic and keep Ravelyn safe. The over-sized projectile that was sent at the Terentatek is lobbed right back, and though the attacks on the creature were probably a lot like oranges in a pillowcase, the return attack is more akin to being hit by a speeder. The smallish boulder hits, and sends the armored knight flying back, the armor itself probably the only thing that keeps this from being fatal. A few moments of stillness pass, and then a low, somewhat garbled groan of protest a Ravelyn attempts to sit up. It's slow, and painful enough that no further attacks on the creature are made.

Even for the giant ball of hate that is this terentatek, the amount of punishment it's taking is just too much to handle. Asiir's pulling its life force away, Bryce is lancing its back between the spines, Kylo is there chopping at its leg, and while Ravelyn's pesky rocks have stopped, Lioria is still jolting it with lightning. Clawing ferociously at its own spines, trying to reach the Knight stood on its back, until finally with a last groan it sinks to the ground, oozing toxic spittle and thick black blood.

The Supreme Leader steps away from the dead beast, staring at it from behind his facemask for a few moments before turning towards the others, noticing the extent of the injuries they've suffered. "This was not an ordinary creature. Something is amiss here," he announces, deactivating his lightsaber and sliding it back onto his belt clip. "Its connection to the Force was strong, and not unlike our own. It's a place to start. I want to investigate this arena, but you need to get back," the processed voice admits, his mask glancing between Lioria and Ravelyn. "We'll return when you've had a chance to heal."

As the thing finally collapses, Bryce steps forward, the red lightsaber held at his side as he crests over the hulk's face. He drops nearby and brings the lightsaber downward in a quick arc, severing one of the thing's hands at the wrist. It's only then the lightsaber gets put away.
