Life Day Celebration

OOC Date: December 27, 2021
Location: Kashyyyk
Participants: Rey Skywalker, Mandl, Lofty, Amallia Madine, Jax Greystorm, Colo Nell, Zevin Daodhri, Yuun, Chani Tahn, Zandra naMuriel, Kasia Ashkuri, Friewoo

Life Day has been a growing celebration on Kashyyyk since the era of the Galactic Civil War. It has gained much prominence since the end of the same era too. After the fall of the Empire, the celebration of Life Day began to spread out from Kashyyyk, and with the help of notable members of the Rebellion, and New Republic, the holiday has only gained momentum going beyond the homeworld of the Wookiees...

Today, with the state of the galaxy as it stands, there are many gathering on Kashyyyk to celebrate the holiday, and to remember their lost loved ones by spending time with those that mean the most to them.

The Tree of Life...

It stands tall and monolithic throughout the forest. It's decorative display is glowing bright in the dark of the early evening hours. At the base of the tree, what sunlight remains in the sky above is far from visible through the thick overhead canopy. But the lights hanging from the tree, and the fires that are built in pits and stone furnaces give illumination to the festive surroundings.

The sounds of the forest are all around everyone gathered here this evening. Hundreds of Wookiees are present, all dressed in festive attire from cloaks, to ornately designed natural garments of leaves and headdresses. Each at the forefront of the celebration has been approaching the tree to hand off a glowing 'Life Day Orb' to one of the caretakers of the tree. The caretakers then take the Orb up to a fitting spot where they hang the Orb to let its inner light shine, and add to the ambience of the moment.

When she is gestured to by one of the Caretakers, Rey approaches. She is adorned in one of the crimson and gold cloaks, it trailing behind her in the grass as she steps up the wooden stairs to the stage set up before the Tree of Life. She walks up on to the stage carrying a wooden box in her hands. As she turns to face the gathering of people, Rey offers a quick smile to everyone from within the shadowy hood that surrounds her head from the crimson cloak on her shoulders.

She sets the box down on the podium at the center of the stage, then smiles at the crowd again before she looks over to her left.

A Hologram appears... of a young Princess Leia.

"This holiday is yours, but we all share with you the hope that this day brings us closer to freedom, and to harmony, and to peace. No matter how different we appear, we're all the same in our struggle against the powers of evil and darkness. I hope that this day will always be a day of joy in which we can reconfirm our dedication and our courage. And more than anything else, our love for one another. This is the promise of the Tree of Life."

The hologram fades out of existence and Rey speaks up to the crowd now, her voice carried by the microphone droid that stands on the podium in front of her.

"Princess Leia Organa stood here, three decades ago, and helped propell Life Day in to what it is becoming today across the stars. Life Day is about celebration, love, and peace for everyone. It's my honor today to bring two more Life Day Orbs to the Tree of Life...." She motions her left hand up behind her toward the massive tree that rises high in the sky over her shoulder. "As this local holiday continues to gain galactic-wide prominence, I hope we can all take a moment to remember the ones who came before us, who paved the way for us to be here today, celebrating each other." Another smile shows on the young woman's face before she opens the wooden box before her.

Two glowing Life Day Orbs are visible within. One green and the other blue.

"I dedicate these Orbs in the names of Luke Skywalker, and his sister, General Leia Organa Solo...)]

Rey lifts the box up then and offers it to the Caretakers who take the orbs out from within and begin to raise them up in to the tree to adorn them to a branch. Once they hang together, side by side, Rey turns back to the crowd, and smiles. She starts to walk off stage again as Chewbacca begins to walk toward it...

Mandl's status as a "low-power cable celebrity" on Bespin has no cachet here-- if they heard what Dr. Mandl B'rot did for a living they might run the Bith off-planet! But be all that as it may, they are dressed with reverence to honor-- well, they haven't said. Mainly they hover around Jax and Kasia, staying silent.

Lofty the Talz is waddling around along with a gaggle of STAR TOURS cruise customers who are outfitted in their customary red robes. Core Worlders pay good money to celebrate Life Day in authentic style. His two crewmen, Stebbs the Sullustan and Milquetweed the Gabdorin are also dressed in Life Day robes. The large white Talz buys a cup of spicy milk and slurps it up his boopsnoot.

Amallia Madine is amongst the crowd witnessing Rey Skywalker's address. She's dressed in what she thinks is a rather fetching red Life Day sweater. Red is a nice color on her, but maybe some of the... flourishes in the pattern are less than flattering. The turtle-neck bit is a nice touch, though. She tugs a bit at the hem of it before turning her attention up towards the address -- the hologram of Leia Organa that is followed by Rey Skywalker herself. Her lips purse for a moment and she folds her arms across her torso but, mercifully, the young woman seems content to simply stand and observe for the moment.

In her totally awesome Life Day sweater.

Jax was a bit of a party pooper or well by the way he dressed as he chose to remain in his jedi robes. They were freshly laundered and looked nice but it was his robes or well a new set of them. He stands near Mandl and Kasia as Rey speaks. There is a Kashyyyk Meat pie in one hand, it was a small version for non wookies. "Mandl you got to dedicate an orb to anyone?"

Colo Nell is not having the best Life Day ever. The Corellian gambler works from vendor to vendor, snapping up wares at steadily-growing prices as he tries his best to haggle in Corellian only to receive a variety of rude words from the Wookiee peddlars. Though he secures his cloak and hat, he's soon left out in the cold as his handful of Wookiee phrases are cycled through a bit too rapidly and he ends up terribly insulting the sweater vendor's second cousin. Beating a hasty retreat, Colo loses himself into the crowd via the only way he knows how--donning the loud, garish cloak and joining the gathered celebrants in the festivities.

Next to Mollie stands a Mandalorian, still in full armor. Zevin's concession to the holiday is a red top hat with a golden band, with leaves bells and garland, which rests atop his helmet. <"I still say the best use 'a that sweater,"> he tells her, <"is puttin' it on Azeezel when he's drunk and convincin' him when he wakes up that he /actually/ thought it was fashionable.">

Some people celebrate Life Day in different ways, and were thus left at the ship. He spots Colo fleeing a vendor. <"I did offer to translate for 'im.">

He crosses his arms in front of his chest, waiting for the next speech. There's always a speech.

Yuun was also here, to him this day meant a lot to him as does it to the wookies as well. He stood quietly watching the others, a serene smile on his face. He has one of the Life Day cloaks on, his normal Jedi attire or modified Jedi attire was on. He has three Life Day Orbs with him. He watched the hologram of Princess Leia and he was happy that Rey was able to have one for Leia and Luke..

He watches the others and he moves towards the caretaker, and after a brief back and forth, Yuun bows his head. He hands the three Life Day Orbs to the wookie caretaker, "Thank you, those are for my mother, father and grandfather." he says. He watches the caretaker take the orbs and he backs away, a hint of sadness does come through the Force from Yuun, but then it is gone. His red and gold Life Day Cloak seems to swallow him, which he doesn't seem to mind as he walks back to where he was previously.

Neither part of the crowd watching nor part of the hosts of the celebration, Chani nonetheless finds herself in close proximity to Rey somewhere near the stage and its grandiose display for the purpose of the commemoration. The young Naboo native is almost entirely concealed in the too-long, vibrantly red robe most often worn by the Wookiees for Life Day, but its hem pooled around the floor does not seem to impede her in any immediate sense. The hood is drawn up, but only to the crest of her forehead, leaving her face and the dark mane of her let down hair exposed as it spills over her shoulders and down the front of the robe. "That was a touching dedication. I am sure they are both proud of you." She speaks quietly, lips moving and voice carrying in their proximity, but easily dying as it ventures into the din of other murmuring sentients.

Zandra has one of those huge cloaks, and it drags behind her, just the same as ... most anyone who is not a Wookiee. She goes still at the hologram of princess Leia, closing her eyes for a moment, and then opening them quickly. She focuses on that hologram until it's gone, perhaps even having it imprinted on her retina with how she stares at it. Then Rey speaks, and Zandra bows her head. There's no food in her hands, the violet haired young jedi quietly watching.

Kasia has dressed up for the occasion, her outfit all arranged to work with the Life Day top hat she has perched at an angle atop her head. Her dress is a similar red shade as the hat, with a long black jacket that is close cut with a closure at the waist. It's very festive, and possibly a little goth, but it works well together and that's what counts. Her meandering around the area comes to a pause as the hologram of a familiar figure appears, staying still and watching until the image flickers out. A deep breath is drawn in before her focus shifts to Rey, smiling as the dedication is made.

Chewbacca walks past Rey up the stairs and does a quiet 'Rrrooowl' at her as she smiles toward him and descends the steps toward where she'd been standing in the crowd. She turns around to face the stage again as the Wookiee of galactic fame steps up to the podium. He has his own small wooden box that he sets down gently before he looks around at everyone watching him.

"Rrrrral, Rooooowl, ruuuuh ruh rur raaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrr. Ruh rah." Chewbacca says before he holds up his small wooden box and flips the lid on it open.

He draws out a Life Day Orb of his own that he lifts up and then turns toward the Caretakers. Chewie pauses and hangs something from the Orb...

A wooden carving of a tall Wookiee standing beside a human male with a cocky stance and a blaster in his right hand...

As its raised up in to the air to be hung near the Luke and Leia Orbs, Chewie looks up and just quietly makes a few more emotional 'Rrrrow roh raaaawls' before he turns and lumbers across the stage and down the stairs. He walks toward Rey who puts an arm around him, and he around her shoulders before he fusses the top of her red hood.

On the stage, Threepio walks toward the podium now.

"On Behalf of the Wookiee people. Welcome to the Life Day Celebrations!" Threepio says, his golden form clean and glimmering in the ambient lights. "We hope you all enjoy the atmosphere, the music, and the gifts to be shared. Please mingle, enjoy the food, and if you have a Life Day Orb of your own that you would like to honor a fallen loved one with on the Tree of Life, do not hesitate to dedicate one and bring it to the caretakers who will find a wonderful spot for it amongst the rest! Happy Life Day to all, and to all a good glorious life!"

The music starts up again from the live Wookiee band and people begin to move toward the food and beverages to celebrate the night together as presents and happiness are shared!

Rey looks to Chani beside her and flashes a quick smile. "Thanks. I just hope that they enjoy the sentiment..." She says as if she knows that they are here watching.

"Well I say you look ridiculous in that hat, but look at you. Tall as a wookie, on Kashyyyk no less. At least you fit in," Mollie cracks over towards Zevin. Colo's commotion with the vendor's second cousin is largely lost in the ambient din of the life day celebration, but the movement of it does catch Mollie's eye. When Zevin speaks, Mollie simply exhales an absolutely exhasperated sigh and puts her face into her open palm.

"Colo," she groans and then looks up towards the tree. "Filled with the spirit of Life Day. Must be," Mollie posits. A pause. "You got any, Mando-man?" Mollie asks, gesturing to the various people beginning to offer up those orbs in memoriam.

"I think they will, but I'm just guessing. I'd like it, if I was them." Like Rey, Chani speaks in the present tense rather than the past, as if the two that have been commemorated have not passed on as the orbs hanging from the Life Day seem to convey. Dark gaze reflective of the numerous lights and tawny skin hued in subtle flavors by the sparkling decorations covering the massive tree occupying the space, Chani settles the former on the glamorous-dressed Kasia before casting it out into the mutltitudes making their way through the impromptu market set up to support the feast and festivities associated with the holiday. "I've read about Life Day and we've celebrated it on Naboo, but seeing where it originated is.." Chani trails off, unable to find a word to match her sentiment. "Have you tried the shi-shok fruit?" She settles on changing the topic instead.

Zandra listens to the conversations that she can hear, and makes her way over towards those she knows. She's careful with the overly large cloak, watching where she steps, and who might be behind her to accidentally step on her cloak. She looks very thoughtful as she arrives near Jax, Kasia and company, for the moment. She stops though to glance back. Was that a groan? Is there someone in danger? Zan's gaze is taken to the life tree, the lights on it, and she pauses to just soak in the ambiance.

Mandl nods to Jax. "I learned Talz for a friend who is no longer with us," they admit. "... a former Wayward, in fact, one of my first friends on Nar Shaddaa. I could hang one for Rhani, for Qrrzl... ours is not a galaxy without mishap and peril."

Rey turns from the stage after Threepio speaks and she smiles to those she recxognizes in the gahtering. A drink of blue milk is served to her by Artoo when he wheels by with his dome-tray on top of his head. She raises it up and is about to sip it when she sniffs it. "Alcohol...." She mutters before she just shrugs her shoulders and gives it a sip anyway. Her first ever taste of alcohol...

Her eyes then go over to Chani and she grins lightly. Coughs a little, but then "I've wanted to come here since Chewie described it. Glad to finally have that chance. I would love to see it celebrate on Naboo too. It seems to be the best holiday I've witnessed so far..."

Fleeced in his attempt at fleecing the Wookiee vendors, Colo miserably slinks into the crowd where it's safe and brightens up only when Rey addresses the hustle and bustle. His mood grows further cheery when she displays an old hero, when the golden droid kindly translates a second hero's words for him and the crowd who aren't quite so well-versed on the local language. The Corellian eases up next to a few figures in the crowd and just...listens for a time, soaks it in, even smiles faintly as he forgets part of the purpose he came here for in the glow of the moment. Something about the droid's voice grates on him a moment, makes him grit his teeth, but the message is apt and draws him back to smiling after several seconds. With his mood at least vaguely tilting towards ebullient, he meanders further into the mingle to see what else he can gain, credits-free.

"I'm sure Leia would like it, and also have something a little sarcastic to say about it," Kasia remarks to Rey as she nears. "She has no shortage of wisdom and wit to share." There's some undisguised fondness for the late leader of the Resistance. She turns to look at the mingling crowds. "I've never actually celebrated Life Day before, there wasn't ever much of that on Nar Shaddaa, at least not in my circles. I'm sure some did, but it wasn't ever a big thing so far as I can recall."

Chani's gaze closes in towards Rey when R2-D2 serves her a glass of something and her eyebrows hike. "That's alcoholic? Glad I didn't try to grab some earlier." Continuing onto the latter point, "As a child, there was no better holiday, but that might have been the presents making me biased." A sympathetic look is cast towards Chewbacca when Rey speaks his name and her smile, soft, hopefully conveys the condolences she wants it to. Though she had never known the man in the carving, or the two being commemorated, being around enough of the people who did certainly brought stories with it. "This celebration is wonderful. I like that it combines rememberance with looking forward to the future. A moment of consideration and hopefulness wrapped into one."

Rey takes another sip of the spiced milk as Artoo rolls on by to serve others. Dio trails after him, quietly talking to Artoo about the party as they go.

"Would she have positive things to say about it?" Rey cheekily asks Kasia in response as she lowers her drink again. "One of my favorite quotes Leia ever said to me... was 'Rey, when I die. Please don't let them name a damn ship after me.'" She grins at this. "I... told her I'd do my best, but that I didn't think that day would ever come regardless." She quickly smiles then before her eyes dart back to Chani and she just smiles to her friend. "Always focus on the present. Do not worry about the past or the future... these are the Jedi ways. But... I think we can spare one night for that idea."

Her eyes drop to the drink then back up. "This is very good..." She notes.

Yuun took a moment to get himself together, he was fine after all but as he stands there near a tree his eyes are closed and he seems to be allowing the sounds and smells of the forest flow through him. His breathing is slow, he didn't come here the last time he wasn't really in a good place during the last Life Day, but today he knew he had to be here. He finally allows himself to fully free himself, he does hear scattered chatter all around him, but he just takes this time to just relax and unburden himself.

Zevin Daodhri doesn't answer Mollie for a few seconds. He waits until Chewbacca is finished speaking and presenting his orb, expression unreadable because it frankly can't be seen. <"Yeah. I got one."> He doffs his Life Day top hat and passes it to Amallia. Then he slips the releases of his helmet, which comes off with the sound of equalizing pressure. He tucks it under his left arm.

His right hand pulls an orb from one of the bags in his utility belt. When out from under the helmet, his hair is brown, his eyes are blue, and his lips are full and turned down. He was prepared to be cynical, untouched, but he's moved despite himself. It's clear in his expression, which grows more haggard by the moment. "Maybe more." He takes a deep breath, though, and his face is schooled closer to neutral. "Not gonna give up on 'em yet, though."

He stares at the orb, gazing at its star-filled appearance. "Zevin Jayhn. My wife."

He walks through the crowd, eyes more on the tree than on the other celebrants, and he finds himself squeezing past a woman who been bold enough to dress to match her top hat. "'scuse me." He shifts by Kasia with a care that belies the roughness that armor is so often associated with. Then he's moving to step around Chani. "'scuse me," he says politely.

Little does he know he is actually pushing through the Jedi VIPs. He only realizes it when he sees Rey is among their number. When he does, he doesn't retreat, but he half-smiles. "Liked your words, up there, miss."

When he reaches a caretaker, he hands the orb off to him, and stands there, watching its ascent up the tree.

Mandl, having explained their memorial to-- well, Jax if no one else-- murmurs a Bith aphorism in Talz and dedicates an ornamental orb to Blingo, their M.I.A. guildmate. They demonstrate no need for translation of Shyriiwook, either, but drink only modestly.

Friewoo did not get any grimaces or harsh looks from the other wookies when she arrived on planet. Fortunately she hasn't run into anyone she knows yet. As reluctant as she was to come back to her homeworld, she always comes back for Life Day. That tradition at least, she still keeps, and it kind of sucks doing it alone. So she arrives at the tree now, finding a large crowd, not all of the wookies either.

Jax standign near the other jedi knights as he finishes his meat pie. He realizes Rey's gotten into the booze. The Corellian was drinking sober and seemed to have found a fizzpop from some where. He looks at Yuun, Zandra, and Kasia. He raises an eyebrow, "This may not end well later." Then moves to join the line to place his own orb and he listens to Mandl. "I had brought an orb for my kid brother, Wedge Greystorm. He was Mom's good son." There was a small holographic image of a young man with light colored hair.

Mollie turns to look towards Zevin when he answers her. Naturally, she doesn't have the benefit of a helmet to obscure her expression, but Zevin's preoccupied with the display of lights before them. She doesn't say anything, though. She just quietly stands beside him as he lifts his helmet off with that hiss of equalizing pressure. Her big green eyes remain turned up towards him for a few more moments before she turns them away to the very same lights that he's looking at.

It's not easy to see such a normally stoic face like that, after all.

"Ah, mate," she says, but that's all she adds. She does, however, follow behind him as he pushes his way through the crowd. Polite as Zevin is, Mollie attempts to follow suit. She doesn't quite have the same sense of manners and tact, but she does seem to be, at the very least, attempting.

"Excuse us," she repeats after Zevin.

"Excuse us."

Eventually, the two have arrived in rather rarefied company. Mollie looks over both of her shoulders -- first her left, then her right. Her lips briefly part and she lets a breath out from between them. When the caretaker arrives to retrieve Zevin's life day orb from him, Mollie takes a step forward to stand behind him while he watches his wife's orb ascend towards the sky to join the rest. A brief glance is given towards him, but instead of offering some sort of tired platitude, she simply reaches across her chest to tap him twice on his armored shoulder with the soft pad of her balled-up fist.

Rey looks up to Zev as he appears and offers her that compliment. She raises her mug of spiced milk to him. "Thank you." She says softly from within her crimson hood. "Happy Life Day to you, and yours." She adds as he passes by. Her eyes then note Yuun off by a tree and she grins toward him, raising her free hand to wave at him. Her eyes dancing over to Jax and Zandra, Mandl as well that she believes she recognizes. "You're looking sharp tonight, Jax. New robes?" She asks of his attire.

"I'll do my best. I wish it were easy," Chani remarks to Rey and inclines her head in a slight tilt forward, chin dipping. Her neck straightens and her gaze flicks towards a heavily armored man trying to weave his way right through their little gathering. Chani moves so the distance between them is arm's length, providing no barrier for his passing and leaving little need to ask to be excused. Whatever words might have spilled from her lips when they gently peel apart from one another are kept from existence by whatever has him turning towards Rey to give his sentiments. The woman that follows him is viewed for a brief moment next, but Chani's gaze finally settles where it usually has so far, on Rey and Chewbacca. "I'll enjoy the leniency." Her crooked smile suggests it for the jest that it is, bantering back.

"That sounds like her," Kasia's amusement is visible as she looks back to Rey. "I've never met anyone who wanted accolades less." If she has more to say it's interrupted by the armored man that is trying to squeeze past. Only it's timed perfectly for when she steps back slightly, which has her bumping right into Zevin. "Oh, sorry about that," she says, head turning to toss the apology over her shoulder.

There aren't many familiar faces in a crowd this size, but Colo looks for them all the same. He doesn't spot many--er, any--at first, and so mostly lingers near the periphery to admire the dedication of those with orbs to relinquish. A wan smile crosses his face as he watches one more rise up to coalesce with the multitude, but it's on the way down that he spots first one, then a second, familiar form thanks to the glint of armor. The gambler's eyes go wide a bit, but he smiles all the more thereafter before starting towards the pair of Zevin and Mollie.

Looking his finest in his Life Day cloak, Colo doesn't exactly brazen up to the pair of them, but does at least meander to within a few spans to let them know he's here. Having made the connection between the orb and Zevin's return-trip, he finds the best thing to do now is to just be courteously inconspicuous.

Friewoo notices Mollie in the crowd, the only one she has actually met before. Surprised she starts to make her way over to the woman, her translator droid following closely, "Surprised to see you here Mollie. I've heard an expression before, that it's a small galaxy. I understand the meaning now.."

When his shoulder is rapped, it's no surprise to Zevin Daodhri that Mollie is there - he heard her being courteous behind him. But he looks grateful nonetheless, smiling slightly and putting an arm around Mollie's shoulder regardless and looking back up for another minute before taking a deep breath, ruffling Mollie's hair, and turning back to face the rest of the crowd. He takes his top hat back from Mollie and sets it atop his head. "Now what?" The question isn't directed at anyone in particular. He's pretty sure he smells alcohol, though - somewhere. "Could use a drink.

In the distance on the edge of the party, some Wookiees are putting on light shows with special arrows that are adorned with bright lights. They're firing the arrows in to targets that spin and are lit up brightly, causing shadows to dance across the forest floor in a way that is actually animating the shadows to tell a story on the grass itself. It is showing Wookiee culture in 'shadow play' It is also earning howls and applause from those watching.

"Yeah, I got a new set for offical functions. I figure it wasn't proper to wear my every day robes to a function. I'm still trying to get the mud stains out from Dantooine." Jax says to Rey. "YOu did good up there. I wish I had gotten to meet Master Luke."

Mollie's attention eventually wanders away from the life orb slowly floating upwards and towards the periphery. She does spot Colo. A nod is given in his direction -- a sort of promise that the two of them will catch up to him in a moment. That's around the time that the arm is slung over her shoulder. Her chin turns down to look at that arm on her opposite shoulder and a soft smile twitches briefly on her lips.

"A drink sounds good," Mollie says, "Why don't you catch up with Colo? He's over there." A gesture is given to where Colo and his dapper robe are standing in the crowd.

When Zevin turns to leave, though, Mollie stays behind a few moments later. She too produces a small, modest-sized life day orb and turns away from the pair of them. It's tapped softly twice against her forehead and then released to join the rest. Just another flickering ball of light in the air -- a single star in the night sky.

When she moves to follow Zevin, she's briefly intercepted by a familiar looking wookie. Mollie blinks in surprise, and then laughs.

"Galaxy's small when we've got hyperdrives," Mollie says with a wink, and then moves past to catch up with Zevin and Colo.

"Oi Zevin! Colo! I saw a stand selling -spiced- milk! Spice in milk, can you believe it? Can we get some?" she asks, yelling towards the two as she jogs to catch up with them.

Looking up as Jax goes up to pass on a Life Orb, he sees the holo of his brother. Yuun closes his eyes and allows the force to flow over him. When he opens his eyes, he sees Rey and he walks over to where Rey is, he nods to Chani and moves so that he's close enough to speak with them. His eyes gazes out at the wookies and he knows he has to speak with Chewie and ask if he is willing to teach him Shyriiwook. "Hello, sorry, just been a little in my own head." he says to the group of Jedi near him.

Zandra smiles to Rey, Kasia and Chani, as she listens to them. Jax gets a nod. "Maybe," she says, finally speaking, though belatedly. She nods also to Yuun, and to those who've joined the group. "These cloaks are wonderful - though I think I need to grow several feet taller to make them fit." She might well look like a child playing dress up, given the size of the cloak. Then again, she's possibly not the only one.

Friewoo laughs at Mollie's joke, the distinct laugh is no doubt more common around the party, given the planet though. She takes a drink from her own glass of blue milk, turns around, and notices that her translator droid is in fact -not- there, "Curses.. left that droid back on Nar Shadda. First one I've ever owned too. Didn't come with a manual or anything. I hope it doesn't end up falling off a landing pad or something.." She snorts, "Well hopefully someone around here can translate for me Mollie."

With any potential awkwardness hand-waved--literally--by Mollie, Colo offers a lopsided smile and a head-tilt at both of his crewmates. His fingers waggle as well as they flicker on up and offer a greeting wave of sorts, though he keeps right where he's planted rather than steer to meet the Mando and the cap'n. Mollie's nudge neraer and call over to him ends up dislodging him from his intransigence, however. With an arched brow, he shoots a look towards the spiced milk--spiced milk?--and pipes up a beat later. "That seems...faintly illegal. Maybe it's a Wookiee thing? Or do they relax the laws for a day?" Incredulous, the gambler gives a quick head shake.

His smile is lobbed at Zevin a beat later. "Ah. See you've come to take part in the ritual, then? Hope it brings back the good memories." Unlike much of what Colo says, this statement is, at minimum sincere. He doesn't elaborate further, however, but instead gestures at the milk in offer. "Illegal milk?"

"The cloaks seem like they will be very cozy to wrap up in though," Kasia remarks to Zandra. "I might have to get one for Hex. I already got him a sweater, which I'm sure I'll regret doing, but I apparently love to make myself suffer." She glances over at the Wookiee with Mollie, trying to listen to the language being spoken. She sort of understands it, enough to catch words her and there on her own now.

Rey looks up to Yuun then and smiles at him. She reaches a hand out to pat the back of his arm. "You've nothing to worry about. Spending time within one's own head is part of the process of everything we do after all." She says with a slight grin before another sip of her spiced milk is had. She glances back to Jax and just grins lightly at him. "Well. It's not like we're prone to keeping any of our attires clean for long..." She does look to her own red robe and to Kasia and Zan. "A blanket... I hadn't even thought of that. It will be perfect for my hammock." She says with a light laugh... it's possible she's getting a little tipsy.

"They're a little big," Chani dips her eyes down at her own robe after Zandra mentions needing to grow taller to make it fit. Kasia remarks they seem cozy to wrap up in, leading Chani to finish. "But they are just like a big blanket." The front of hers shifts, as if her hands on the inside have gripped at its edges to draw the two edges closer together and to bring the robe itself a little tighter around her. It does nothing to express what's beneath, however. The robe still remains too loose for that, save that she seems to be wearing something cream underneath it because of how low the neckline dips in its natural size. "I was thinking of having mine tailored, maybe, but it might work better for that purpose," Chani agrees with Rey.

When Zevin reaches the gambler, he smiles. "Did you make enemies 'a all the merchants, or just one? Some of 'em, they have a kind 'a guild, you know. May be it's dangerous for you to even be here, now."

When Mollie follows, trailed by Frieweoo, he gives the Wookiee an upnod and a "How're you?" before rolling his eyes at the Captain. "There are other kinds 'a spice, you know. Don't think it's what you're thinkin' it is." But he grabs some blue milk. "It is tasty, make no mistake."

Mollie blinks towards Zevin when he discusses the other types of spices. She seems to almost immediately regret her purchase, uncorking that blue, spiced milk and giving it a sniff. Ah, -that- sort of spice. A small frown twitches on her lips and she lets out a sigh through her lips.

"I knew that," she says simply. She didn't.

"It smells like Zeez's cologne," Mollie laments and shuffles towards where Colo and Zevin are turned towards the exit through which they arrived. The young pilot picks a bit more at the hem of her Life Day sweater that hangs over her black leggings before gesturing with her left hand towards the exit.

"Shall we, boys?" she asks and, before waiting for their answer, moves to leave. One last glance is given over her shoulder towards Rey, Chani, Yuun and the rest of Jedi beneath the life tree. And then that gaze lifts up towards the many swirling lights.

"Mmmh," she says, and turns her head forward.

"Spiced milk. That's false advertising if you ask me," she complains.

"Exactly," Kasia agrees with Rey, and Chani, nodding quickly. "I think it'll be nice to have on the ship, somehow it never seems to be warm enough on the ship. Unless we're on Ryloth, then there's nothing that can make it cool enough to be comfortable." She eyes Rey for a moment, lips pressing into a restrained smile as she leans in a little closer to her. "Make sure to drink plenty of water before you go to sleep, it may save you some pain."

Zandra looks over as she over hears some of the Shyriiwook being spoken and she gives a bit of a shrug, apologetic perhaps. "If you need, I can translate Shyriiwook," she says, pitching her voice to be heard. Of course if 3PO is doing it, Zan doesn't have to. VeeTen is settled under her big cloak atop her shoulder, the small droid occasionally peeking out. She grins at Kasia though. "That is a very good idea." Seems she's also in agreement. "The blanket, and the water," she adds, with a bit of a laugh.

Yuun nods his head to Rey, "Yeah, you're right." he says to her. He chuckles about the comments about the cloaks, "Wow, you're right, it is like a blanket." he laughs. "I may get another." he says. "This is pretty nice, I'm glad I could make it this time around." he says simply.

"It was just the one, I think, but...uh. If we're being honest, I can't tell them apart unless the fur's been dyed." Colo hears what he's saying and winces even as he does, but Corellian forthrightness has never been worked out of him. A nervous hand brushes up through his dark locks and he rubs at his neck to soothe away some of the sting to himself. "Think maybe I'll ditch here until next year and they won't remember me. Lucky me, right?"

Mollie gets an immediate quip from the gambler out of his luck. "We shall. I think the one I ticked off is over there talking to his mates. Time to bail. Maybe grab some milk for the hyperlanes..." He suggests and immediately sets to slow-ambling towards the nearest exit while pulling down the brim on his hat. Yeah, just a little sneaking on by and he'll be gone.

Jax crosses his arms, "No we don't. There's always something getting stabbed, burned, stained, or something horrible to swim through." As he hears mention of Hex, a smile slips across Jax's features, "I love that coat. I think I've seen it or once or twice before I got my butt saved. Tell Hex I miss him and hope to see him soon." He chuckles, "And Of course he needs a sweater."

Friewoo gives her best nod to Mollie, a gesture she learned from humans, then waves. She takes another drink from her spiced milk, observing the wookies' performance, "I am really going to need to be drunk if I am going to survive this party. The things I do for sentiment.."

Rey finishes off her current glass just as Kasia offers that bit of advice. She looks down to it and wiggles it a little with a grin. A big furry paw comes out of no where to take the empty and replace it with a fresh one. Rey looks up to Chewie who 'Rorrrwls' about it being a special night, a night to let go a bit.

"Water it is... Later." Rey says as she lifts the new glass up for a sip, her eyes going out to the festivities. "This really is a great holiday." She says with a quick grin. Her eyes go to the nearest person wearing one of these sweaters and she shakes her head. "I'm not that brave as to adorn that... I wonder if Ben would wear one." She says with a grin cast to the others around her. "Not likely..."

"Honestly, this is the most color I've worn in.. a year? Close to it." The vivid red is a far cry from the earthen and neutral colors and tones she's most often seen in. "It's nice. Don't think I could wear that, though," Chani regards the sweater that Rey motions at with no small amount of skepticism on her face. "Thank you for the invitation. I'm glad I got to experience this. I think I'm just going to walk around for awhile and look at things. I hope everyone enjoys their night." Chani inclines her shoulders forward a measure, not quite bringing her torso into an angular tilt, but expressing a bow nonetheless. She steps away from the group and begins to roam off, taking careful steps and inevitably dragging the long hem of the robe behind her like some royal garment trailing a monarch as she begins to mingle into the larger crowd.

Yuun yawns a little bit as he looks around, he sees Zan wander off and he he turns and looks at Chani as she speaks, "See you later Chani." he says to her. He then takes in the others, "There is music playing, Rey want to dance?" he asks. He wasn't ready to leave yet and honestly he wanted to see if their fearless leader could dance.

Rey continues to mingle as Chewbacca continues to provide her with drinks throughout the night. She eventually ends up in the dance area with her long robe continuously tripping her as she tries to keep up with the festive dancing. Lots of laughing, lots of silly attempts at matching the motions of others on the dance floor.

She eventually forgets to drink the water, and regrets are later had.
