Two gangs war it out over territory, causing harm to innocents.

OOC Date: May 29, 2021
Location: Gearhead District, Nar Shaddaa
Participants: Khalim, Kasia Ashkuri, Nubri, Tamsin Cas, Zyrette, Fjord, Bizz Bliptettjupp, Dailo Fett

It's an all out war within the industrial streets of the lawless Gearhead district. Blaster fire can be heard, discharged from various positions along the streets. At one point, speeders were passing through here unchallenged, but now, four speeders have piled up and their occupants, some six bystanders, are pinned beneath the wreckage and afraid to escape the flames for being shot at by the incumbent and invading gangs alike.

It's a time to take action it seems, but it's not clear how people can help without taking one side or another. Anxious to stop the fighting, an armored figure in blue moves into position behind cover, peeking over to see just what's going on. Her voice broadcasts over an open line.

<<"This is Dailo Fett. There are innocent bystanders pinned down in the middle of a fire fight between two gangs. The blaster fire is thick.. I count some ten invaders, and roughly six people defending against them. I think I count six innocent people in the wreckage in between the warring groups. Would anyone be willing to engage the gangs to draw their fire away from the bystanders?">>

Working as a concierge doctor as was her calling on Nar, Tamsin Cas always kept a channel open, if only to keep abreast of when she might be getting called to stitch up this wound, or reattach that limb. When the call came of a disturbance (that's what we're calling it now) down in gearheads, Tamsin grabbed her medpac and supplies and headed that way. Was she a fighter? No, not really. Did she actually have visibly on her person a weapon that she could use to defend herself? Nope, not really, but she was here regardless, moving down along the street as she tried to catch sight of the civilians who were reported as being trapped under wreckage. She at least had the sense to try to use whatever she could to hide herself from possibly retaliation. 'Don't shoot! I'm a doctor!' wasn't likely to protect her from gang warfare.

Incidentally, Zyrette and Khalim had been just up the street. At Suge Knight, erm, Shug Ninx's spacebarn, picking up some converti-mabobs and a couple of those half-meter pepperoni'd nerf sticks kept at the counter. Dailo's voice comes over Kham's comm, and a side-long look is sent Zee's way.

"Should we take a look? We're certainly geared for a party." Indeed, the pair were wearing their Hatunda best, Gearhead edition at least - two armored suits, and sidearms. Gearhead gangland riff-raff required certain basic precautions be taken for any visit.

And that's how Zee and Kham came to round the corner of this main Gearhead industrial thoroughfare, armored, armed, and equipped with his and hers XXX-HOT pepperoni'd nerf sticks.

Kham head nods towards the awninged entrances to a number of businesses - mostly pawn and smoke shops around here - and the Mirialan takes initial cover behind a lamp post - long defunct - to establish the situation.

Kasia isn't here for anything nearly so important as doctoring, she was here to handle some business a street over when she hears the news that there is an /incident/. One that involves innocent people being caught in the middle of things. This seems like the sort of thing that she should probably go and assist with, even if she's totally not dressed for adventure. The click-click of heels (thankfully low heels today) is drowned out by the din of the firefight and cries of those trapped. "Well this looks like a proper mess." She doesn't go charging in yet, taking a beat to assess the situation before ruining her dress.

Zee over hears the comm. She registers a momentary expression of confusion. More accustomed to kids making prank comms on that line, with an innumerable amount of jokes about gaseous expulsions, with the occasional news update. However, this comm seems legit, and the threat real. As much concerned for their Associate Nubri, who can often be found in that part of the district, as the civilians, she is willing to lend a hand.

As the pair makes the scene. She to finds non combustible cover, nearish to the Mirialan, but not lined up in a tidy target practice sort of fashion. She glances around for the one that called for backup.

Fjord was just out and about looking at where to by a ship and he thought gearhead district made sense. He walks up to the already listening to the blaster fire and he moves against the closest cover, watching and listening. His eyes watching over the fray that has started. He sees the six bystanders and immediately his eyes start scanning the area trying to figure out a way for him to get over there and get them coverage to get out. His eyes scan the wreckage before he grumbles quietly using his own natural skills to look and move silently.

Brother Bizz was wandering Nar Shaddaa looking for alms when gang warfare broke out! He is currently crouched behind some barrels and crates, trying to avoid the crossfire. The holy monk has his unetiwood stick to defend himself. "By the FORCE, what is going on here? There are blasters everywhere!" He peeks over a crate at the pileup of innocents in speeders. "We must save the innocents!"

<<"If you're here to do something about those innocent people, there's two choices. Fight to draw away the fire, or wait until we've drawn the fire away to move in and help them. I'm moving out to see what can be done. Follow me.. or stand by! Your choice!">>

Dailo mantles from the position of cover she had taken and begins to run toward the invading gang's position. <"OYA!"> With no jetpack, the armored figure is relegated to moving on foot, but that seems to matter little to Dailo Fett.

Dailo's excited call was enough to draw the fire of the invading gang. They are adjacent to the wreck of speeders and innocents, and had been engaged with the defending gang which was clear on the opposite side of the thoroughfare. With the approaching threat that's much closer, they set to opening fire toward Dailo and any who wish to brave the combat to keep the fire away from the wreck.

When the blaster fire focus shifted, the warzone was no longer over the wreck area. It seemed reasonably safe to cross to reach the wreck, for now...

This would be Tamsin Cas, standing by. This would also be Tamsin Cas trying to move into better position to assist the people trapped under the wreckage. Of course, that meant moving away from the doorway of a shuttered shop in which she had been hiding, but there was nothing for it. She moved as quickly and carefully as she could, keeping crouched as if to present as small a target as possible. She'd been on battlefields before as medical support. She knew the drill. As she moved, her eyes roamed, hoping she might find something he could use the smother the flames if it came to that.

The ruffians down the street draw Khalim's attention, diverted only for a moment as dark brown eyes track Dailo's charge in their direction. The industrial form of the Mirialan's 'Death Hammer' is drawn from a hip holster and held at the low ready as he advances to the next bit of dilapidated sidewalk cover. An actual print news dispensar. Empty, seemingly forever. The invading gang's line, down the street, shows several of them seeking partial cover. Enough to be seen. Khalim draws a bead on one and with a quick double-tap of a trigger his Merr-Sonn barks in rapid succession. Two red bolts sizzle down the street, slamming into already broken duracrete just behind his target - both missing, one just barely. "Kriff," Khalim mutters into closed comms, audible to Zyrette and anything standing nearby.

"Well," Kasia glances back at Bizz as he approaches and says they need to help. "Let's do just that." She isn't precisely prepared for battle, but sometimes the battle comes to you unexpectedly and you just make do. The bag she carries is shifted so it rests against the back of her hip and is less likely to hinder movement, waits, and then begins to hustle herself over toward the trapped bystanders in the fight. "It's okay! It'll be fine! We're here to help!" It might be comforting from someone who looks more prepared for battle, but she's in a dress with shoes meant more for something less demanding than rescue, but at least she sounds pretty confident.

As Khalim returns to cover, Zee pops out, just long enough to wring out a few bolts. Her aim is off by quite a bit. However, she notes familiar figures moving to aid the trapped by standers. She hopes her shots are enough to provide cover fire, if nothing else. She slides back down behind cover, echoing Khalim's, <"Kriff.">

Well, there are innocents, sure. But there is some distance to cover. Plus, even if Nu made it to help them, she'd be in the middle of a shootout. So, all idealism provided... it is best to get rid of a threat first. And raising the silver frame of her S5, she shoots while running. Unfortunately, said physical exertion is damaging her aim, causing her to miss every shot she is taking, those green bolts hitting cover harmlessly "HELP IS ON THE KRIFFING WAY!" she shouts

Bizz takes off his simple straw farmer's hat which was shielding him from the rain. He says to Kasia, "I will distract them!" The fat little Ugnaught raises his stick and charges at the firing gangers, his robes fluttering in the wet air. But he is fat and slow and doesn't quite make it there.

The fire fight has shifted in terms of what it was. Those engaging the invaders have all but earned their immediate attention, especially since Bizz and Dailo have come close to fight them. Pair this with the long-ranged fire pouring in from two different angles, and it's a recipe for a crazy fight!

Dailo is tagged in the shoulder almost immediately, but not before landing a healthy slash with a knife she drew up from her belt, injuring one of the 10 Invading gang members. She cries out in pain, then laughs. In the middle of the battle, she seems to relish the utter chaos of it all!

In the road way where the wreck is, the innocents call out to Kasia and Tamsin, hands lifting from the holes in the wreckage to be pulled out to safety. "Help us," One calls. "We're all good, we're just scared of getting shot too! And there's fire here.. it's starting to spread!" There were six pairs of hands, including a child whose mother offers the child up first before her own safety.

Up where the defenders are, Nubri has scared the poodoo out of them. They did NOT expect someone to close the distance on them, and that was reflected in their aim when they tried to fight the Doctor on her approach.

It would see that Tamsin and Kasia had arrived just in time, as the child, held up by her mother, held out her arms, not towards her rescuer, but back towards that august person, not wanting to be separated, "Move as far from the fire as you can, squeeze in if you have to!" Tamsin had no gear with which to fight the fire, the heat of which was like a rising heat against her side. As the bystanders shifted, the wreckage moved in response to heat and pressure, though, they were lucky, as it opened the width of the holes through which they could be pulled. "I have you little one, mother is coming right after. I promise."

True to her words, the child's mother squeezed out of the wreckage, helped by the ones behind her. Whether out of a desire to reunite the pair, or simply to get the woman out of their way so they could get out, it all amounted to the same. Two were now free, "Keep down," Tamsin offered, handing off the child, "Use the wreckage as cover."

Still creeping up along the side of the street, now moved from behind an ancient neighborhood print news dispenser to another wide-base streetlamp plus refuse filtered planters combo, Khalim sights yet again. The invading horde, nine of them still seeming capable of shootin gback, mill behind their own cover, seeking their own shots. One exposes himself for a moment longer than is smart and the Mirialan sights and double-squeezes, sending another pair of tibana-gas enhanced charged particle bolts screaming... into a wall. Fortunately a sturdy wall. Is that Nubri's club? Sorry, Nubri.

"We're going to help you," Kasia assures the people asking for help, but then there's fire. A frown tugs at the corners of her mouth. A glance is shot over at Tamsin as she takes the baby, then moves back to the people, the speeders, the fire. A hand reaches out, but rather than reaching out to one of the bystanders, it's in the direction of the worst burning speeder. The thing creaks and jostles at first, then rises up into the air just enough to go shooting off to the side, toward those invading gang members that created all the ruckus in the first place. She looks back over her shoulder. "Anyone not shooting come help us get these people away," she calls back over her shoulder.

As they take fire Zee looks for nearby cover to switch too. No Speeders or other that might explode. Not useful as cover at that point. She rolls to a pile of crumbled duracrete, large enough to give substantial protection. She cranes her neck, looking for KHalim. As he been hit. Silent and focused, with no muttered expletives, she pops up long enough to fire a few more bolts back upon the invaders. She notes at least one landed shot, as she sinks back down behind cover.

On her way towards the trapped, the Mirialan lets more shots out, quickly diving for cover behind one of the speeders, not even noticing Khalim firing on her club. Which might be for the best, or she'd strike an impromptu alliance with either gang to skin the Mirialan. You know, like a proper friend would. Or something like that anyways. Still, at least a pair of green bolts manage to hit, for a change

The young smuggler surveys the situation and he grumbles quietly before he takes off running. He jumps over things and gets to the innocents. He puts both his hands out. He grabs any hand that reaches out to him and he pulls. He's really weak but he has leverage with his feet digging into the ground. "Come on. Stay low to the ground and get out." He yoinks them free and pushes them towards freedom.

Brother Bizz is in among the invaders and whacking them with his stick. One of the volley of random laser fire singes his arm, but the monk is angry and in an avenging mood. "By the FORCE!" He CRACKS one of the gangers in the skull.

The fight is beginning to turn toward the mysterious when a speeder is hurled in the direction of the invading gang. It smashing into the ground with a deafening roar and collision that segues to a loud screeeeeeech. It's the kind of scary that catch all the invading gang off guard, two even flee from the fight altogether, saying "Kriff this, I didn't sign up for flying speeders!"

The number of the invading gang begins to dwindle as one falls to Bizz's stick, and another is shot by Zee before being stabbed by Dailo who climbs him like a banshee to stab. She laughs, then she curses when two shots take her off the gang member and spill her against the pavement. <"Ugh!"> Fett rises back up slower than normal, and shaking her head to rid herself of the dizzy spell that was taking place.

Four innocent people have been rescued thanks to the efforts of the team there. Two remain in the speeders, arms reaching out to be pulled to safety. With the fight still focused on the two groups, the innocents have a chance to reach safety.

From the defending side where Nubri was fighting, 2 of the 5 break off to run away. Leaving three (3) total. One shoots at Nubri when she reaches cover while the other two engage the invading gang from long distance, tagging the same unlucky guy twice in the chest and dropping them.

Overall, it looks like six (6) Invaders remain, three (3) Defenders remain, and two (2) people still need help escaping this chaos.

"I've got you!" Tamsin, catching sight of another body coming in to assist with rescue, scooted to the side to give room for the young man to help two more of the bystanders free themselves from the wreckage. The shift in movement allowed her to catch sight of the burning wreck of a speeder flying through the air, and a look of surprise crossed her expression, almost pulling her away from the task at hand, before the yelling of the two two in mine, one a small squib who could not reach far enough pulling her attention back to the distressed former passengers, as she got back to what she was intended to be doing, pulling the small male from the wreck before she reached for the next, "Is that all of you?" Then, to the rescuers around her, "We need a way to get them safely away before the fire ignites any open fuel systems!" In the middle of a battlefield. As you do.

Kham had taken two grazing shots earlier and is beginnign to feel the bruising beneath white plastoid. But it's Zyrette, who he sees take a hit just as he turns to scan her way, that causes the man's adrenaline to surge anew. "Zee," he says, voice modulated into an even calm, "Are you alright?" The hit didn't look catastrophic, but his attention doesn't want to divert. Except for a hint of movement out of the corner of his eye, drawing that dark brown gaze and the barrel of his pistol to bark out two quick reports. Barely aimed. Splash-splash. Hopefully Nubri didn't see those either.

Kasia observes as the last of the hiding people are escorted to safety, doing a once over of the wreckage to be sure, then rounding on the invading gang. It's not like she's here to fight for the current gang, but really this is a mess that has interrupted her afternoon plans, so someone has to be to blame. Rather than an entire speeder this time, it's just a broken off part that raises up and flies at the gang. It flies, but inaccurately, clattering against the ground well to the side of the people encroaching on the territory.

Zee did not sink down fast enough behind her cover while taking her last shots. Searing pain sizzles through her focus enough to alert her to the fact she's taken a bolt to the shoulder. She bites her lower lip to keep herself silent, and gulps down a breath of air. She needs to move to fresh cover, and see if she can't reassess the situation. She pops up, taking to more shots that go wide, before crawling closer to Khalim. She keeps enough distance between them though to not paint them as a larger target. "I'm fine." She replies, her tone and level and dry as ever. "You?" They may as well be having tea and crumpets than in the middle of gangland warfare.

More green bolts fly the way of the defenders. Nu attempts to let out a fourth shot, before noticing the weapon ran dry causing her to... possibly commit her worst decision up until now: to put the pistol away and... charge the gang head-on, not even bothering to arm herself

The young smuggler sees the people and grumbles. "Get them out of here..." He pulls out his rifle, takes a deep breath and inches a little away from the group before standing up and rushing towards the opposite side the innocents should be going. He turns and shoots towards the group but he's not strong enough for this so he ends up jerking backwards as he screams towards the gangs. Both of them. Very much a look at me! type action as he turns and stands firm on a piece of dirt. His piece of dirt. He levels his gun and glares.

Brother Bizz charges another gang member and trips him, then brings down his unetiwood stick on the ruffian's shooting hand. "You scallywag, be gone with you!" The squat Ugnaught can pack a wallop.

In the chaos, several more of the gang members are brought down. Blaster fire crisscrosses back and forth, and some how the innocent people pinned in the wreckage are freed from it and guided to safety amidst the firefight. Seeing that the battle was becoming a three part free for all, the gangs began to measure out whether they would survive the day at this rate. So many of their number had already fallen, or were routed, and now they had maniacs charging them.

Nubri charging headlong toward defenders sends them to fleeing. Bizz WHACKING people with sticks, Dailo stabbing, and Fjord making all KINDS of noise like his anger is building up to a boiling point sends the invaders to back track and run away.

When the smoke settles, a few bodies lay out and a fire engulfs the wreck. Those who remain standing were the ones who answered the higher calling of helping those in need. <<"Those people are alive now because you all did something that made a difference. Thank you, and wear your new scars well. They were well earned. Fett, out.">> Dailo sheathes her weapon and leaves to find medical attention, she's certain she is bleeding at this point!
