Not Enough Money

OOC Date: June 10, 2020
Location: Kal'Ayure
Participants: Eedulk Gath, Sesti Greystorm

For once, the mat that Sesti has set out in the corner is not being used for sparring or for her to practice her katas. Senin and Zaya are on the family deck above, and so the woman sits, hair unbound from her braids, and eyes closed. On one side of her head, her hair is pushed aside just enough for the ear bud to be visible, and from the straight, cross-legged, posture, it appears she is taking a page from her husband's book to meditate, although in her case, she’s using a ‘guide’. After a final deep breath and exhale, she opens her eyes and looks slowly around the hold.

Eedulk thumps his way up the boarding ramp, duster fluttering, and a Zabrak cigarette is quickly snuffed out in a gloved hand as he boards. "Coz'." He rumbles in greeting as the stick disappears into a pouch on his belt as long legs carry him towards her. "I wasn't expecting you to be here. Apologies about the smoke." He rumbles and tucks thumbs behind the heavy belt wrapped about his waist, nose twitching. "So, should I consider this ship my home?"

Sesti raises an eyeridge at him, and then reaches up her hands to pull her hair back and braid it loosely in one plait down her back. "You have been assigned a bunk, yes. Until such time as you identify and secure a proper home for us here in the city or the outskirts of the city, yes." Her lips twitch a little bit as she mostly unsuccessfully restrains her smirk. "After all, mother said that there is much more to being the Head of Security than just hitting people on the head. Finding a place that you think can be secured for us, and identifying how much personnel you need is one of those things, is it not?"

Eedulk grunts quietly as he lounges against a bulk head and thick arms fold across his chest, lips pursing into a thin line. "Fah. I think I prefer the days when we'd race about the Compound." He rumbles in Zabraki with a shake of his head, though amusement mars rough features. "And I'm sure your mother has it out for me. Heh, remind me not to miss another Clan event." Which he has missed many of them given his line of work. "And, I've gone through some of the dossiers of those for security. Some possible, they just need to vetted..." He pauses with a twitch of lips and nose wrinkles, he adds, "Coz', I had an interesting encounter with a human female by the Domino..."

"We all miss those days, that is the worst part of being grown up," Sesti agrees with him. "But I'd still be happy to give you a good thumping or beat you in a race around the park, if you like, for old time's sake." The offer is genuine, even a touch eager just to test him, and test herself against another zabraki after years of being among humans and others. Her smile freezes at the mention of the name, though, and her eyes go flat cold. "I don't think it's possible to have an encounter that isn't interesting in some manner with Domino," she replies. "Is she still using our name?"

Eedulk grins at the offer of reliving their youth and a rumbling chuckle escapes him. "Maybe a race about the park. Still better at putting holes in folks." He rumbles with a note of eagerness as it's been many moons since he raced against those of Zabrak kindred. Yet his Coz's reaction cause him to frown with a tilt of his head and obsidian gaze hardens with a cold light. "She did not in my presence, Little One." He growls low and hard as knuckles crack. "It seems I need to know something."

There's a forceful exhale from Sesti, that takes some zabraki curses with it as she surges to her feet. "I had hoped we could be rid of her. Yes..." Her fingers twitch as if itching to get themselves on the woman mentioned. "We first met her as Kael's 'wife'. You haven't met Kael, yet, but he's Jax's cousin and they were in Waywards together when I met them, and Kael... well, he disappears for months, or a year, at a time. Then we see him again for awhile, then..." she flicks her fingers up in the air in front of her face. "You get the picture." She presses her hands into her hips as she paces a few steps and back. "So, one time, we're in a bar with Kael, and all of the sudden, this woman appears out of nowhere calling him all sorts of endearments, and claiming they're married, and that she has the papers, etc. Something about him being drunk and not remembering..." her lip curls a bit to indicate what she thought of that story. "So, she was Kael's 'wife' for... I don't know how long. It was this totally messed up on and off thing."

The simple desire to light up another cigarette is suppressed with a heavy sigh and Eep's head bows slightly at his Coz's speech. He shifts against the bulkhead as fingers drum against a bicep and he nods. "So, she's not your friend and, apparently, this Kael is a.. Ahh, the human term: Sap." He rumbles and dark gaze narrows thoughtfully. "I assume there is more to this story coz'. Because all we had was some drinks and she made it clear she didn't consider herself part of the Family anymore. Should I be keeping a harder eye on her or....?"

Sesti lets out a short bark of laughter. "No, Kael is not a sap. Like I said, she's not boring, and Kael loves a challenge." She walks over and picks up a tablet and begins to scroll through it. "I'm not sure why this wasn't in your files..." her fingers tap as she continues to talk. "When it was finally severed, she was shacked up with one Oran Arcantael on Coruscant. A dark force user... not a Sith, he made it clear he was not interested in the Sith, he just wanted to master the Dark Side..." she pauses, and looks at a screen, then gives a shake of her head and continues on. "He intercepted one of our informants just before Jax and I reached them. Took the datachit from the informant and put it in his pocket. Then dropped the informant." She stops, scrolling, but doesn't hand the tablet over, yet. "Jax fought him and I ... picked his pocket, you might say. I couldn't get near him because he has the same way of sensing danger to himself that Jax has. It didn't extend to his pocket, though. I made an attack for his pocket, got the chit, and an extra one. BUT..." she clenches her jaw and her eyes narrow for a moment, a little tic vibrating at the corner of her left eye. "He disarmed Jax and had his saber to Jax's throat. He taunted Jax, then walked away. He could have ended Jax, but he didn't, to prove that it's the Jedi, who would kill him, who were the monsters, not him." There's disgust and denial of Oran's claim in her voice. She goes on. "Anyways, the second chit talked about Oran's plan to stage a riot to kill his sister when she was in transit leaving Coruscant. I asked Domino about his sister, and she asked me to kill the woman... said she would consider it a solid favor if I made sure the woman died. I didn't. Do her the favor, that is." She hands over the tablet. "Since then, Oran Arcantael has become Malik Ren. He went through some ritual to take Ben Solo's place as the leader of the Knights of Ren."

(A holo video is sent out that is a recording of Senator Carnine of Chandrila with the following message to those of the New Republic.).

"Citizens of Chandrila and those watching from the New Republic planets. This is a notice of a planetary ban against one known as Domino Greystorm. She goes by other alias' and changes her appearance frequently. We will be broadcasting current photographs of Domino with this transmission. She has connections to the Knights of Ren. If she is seen on planet it is to be reported immediately. Domino has direct ties to one Malik Ren, formerly known as Oran Arcantael of Coruscant. Domino helps to groom the members of Malik Ren's Vanguard to blend in with the general public and a list of other things from what has been gathered. She was on planet recently pushing security contracts before we were alerted to who she was.

With this news, we need to remember that talk of our security for planets and Senators or Representatives needs to be done in private or to use discretion. The New Republic is just starting to unite and we do not need security leaks getting back to the Knights of Ren, First Order or other enemies of the republic. We need to make sure that those we are entrusting with our safety do not work for the enemy.

The likes of the Knights of Ren and the First Order are not wanted on or welcome on Chandrila. I would urge that any other planets that are in the New Republic to use caution going forward and when picking security liasons. We need to think things through carefully to ensure that we do not fall into any traps or lies spread by the enemy.

(At the end of the transmission there are several still photos of Domino).

"The name of a Resistance General and Representative to the Senate will open a lot of doors... at the time this happened, she had already completely divorced Kael." Sesti mentions as it appears Eedulk is reaching the end of the transmission.

Eedulk listens without saying a word yet the twitch of an eyeridge, the purse of lips, and he takes the tablet once it's offered. "Coz', your going to make my hair go silver sooner rather than later." He grouses in a deep tone as dark gaze flicks over the information displayed and his features harden. He rumbles underneath his breath in Zabrak and he offers the tablet back to Sesti. "So, I guess it was fortuitous that I met her. A possible issue further down the road... I think you need to check up..." And he pauses with a visible grimace with nose wrinkling in annoyance. "Right, my job is to make sure such breaches of security.... I don't think I'm being paid enough for this."

Again, there's a short, mirthless, laugh from Sesti. "There isn't enough money for this kind of thing, and that's the point, in a way." She nods to the tablet as she takes it back. "This is why you're my security, you and the clan Gath members that you chose. Imagine if she had managed to attach herself to someone's security detail, or someone that she grooms manages to worm their way into someone's security?" She raises her eyeridges and tilts her head suggesting her confidence that he can figure out the answer. "General Poe has assured all Senators and Representatives that the Resistance will provide security for them, so that they don't need to run the risk of hiring out contractors. He said that way we don't need to worry about having security that will sell us out." She gives a little bit of a wistful smirk to that one. "Frankly, I think it is somewhat naive of General Poe to believe that there's no way the Resistance can be infiltrated and therefore infiltrate the Senate. But you..." she taps her cousin on the chest, not so gently because, well, he's tough, right? "cannot be bought. Neither can anyone clan Gath be bought, because they would not bring that disgrace and dishonor to their family."

"Hungh.." Eep rumbles with nose wrinkling and eyes close briefly, breathing slow and steady, he levels obsidian gaze upon Sesti. "Coz', that's the last time you'll have to ask that." He growls roughly as the poke to his chest is ignored because he's all tough-like. "And I agree, it seems foolish to expect all them single thumpers or bulb heads or..." He pauses for a long moment as a flux of emotions of annoyance and anger ripple over rough features and he takes a deep breath. "I'll start looking through different dossiers for your personal security. I can only be around so often."
