Hulk Busting

Location: Death Star II Debris Field, Endor
Participants: Jinx, Moergog, Kryll (As Tarsus Bey), K-5Z9, Alekzander Starlock, Saturi, Callax Dalso

With the Rangers just starting to congeal, the imporatance of pre-operational training is vital: the Rangers are to arrive at the long-abandoned debris field at Endor, where the bones of dead ships from decades past still hang in space in the planet's gravitational field. Workng as a team, the Rangers will perform a mock boarding of one of thse shattered hulks, practice maneuvers in hard vaccuum, and eventually destroy the vessel with demolition charges. Sounds simple enough, right? After all, it's been decades since anyone cared about the place...

[Callax Dalso]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Floating over the placid orb of Endor's forest moon, a field of broken iron still persists from yesteryear.

Though the bulk of the wreckage of the second Death Star was sucked into hyperspace with the explosion of its massive motivator block, the fleet that attended it still yet persisted - and it is, for the most part, their bones and those of the Rebel ships that died here that clutter space around the moon. Among these ships, the ruined hulk of a CR90 floats among debris and broken spars, torn nearly in half by what appears to be some kind of terrible impact. Gray hull pitted in places by cannon impacts, Its hammerhead bridge section is nearly torn from its 'shoulders'; dead and cold for decades, the ship's only trace of identification is the half-charred letters painted down its hull in Aurabesh characters: '--ILIENT'.

It is this lonely hulk that the /Discretion/ approaches, having leapt into realspace at the border of the debris field and made its way through an hour ago. With Callax at the helm, the otherwise dangerous debris is made far less so thanks to the pilot's skill. The ship comes to a stop near the blasted corvette, and Callax makes the call for assembly on board a shuttle rented for the occasion.

The plan is simple: two teams will board the ship. The primary boarding team, including Callax, K5, and a squad of would-be Rangers collected by Callax themselves, will enter the ship from the 'neck', and another group of Ranger candidates will engage them with an attempt to stop their getting to the engineering section. Meanwhile, another team, consisting of Saturi and Jinx and overseen by Moergog from the ship, will enter via another hole blown admidships, enter the superstructure, and plant charges that will spell the doom of the hulk once victory conditions are complete. Simple. Straightforward. And it will sort the wheat from the chaff, which at this point is very much needed.

Soon the shuttle, loaded wth both teams, is on its way to the ship. Floating over the gash in the corvette's neck, Callax - clad in their purple void-sealed armor - musters their squad at the airlock. << All right, >> the call over comms to the handful of boarders arranged by them, << Everyone's guns are tuned to fire stinger bolts only; if you're hit, you'll feel it, but so will they when you tag them. Immediately upon being struck, call out that you're dead and report in to the /Discrection/ so we know where you are for pickup. Now. Let's go. >> They hit the airlock switch, cycling depressurization, and with the door unsealed, they turn to jet away on the flight pack merged into their armor to carry a boarding tether down and mag-clamp to the ruined hull. All the boarders need to is climb down and get onto the deck. Jinx and Saturi will then be ferried to their breach.

Kayfive's paintjob had changed again, the tall gangly droid no longer sporting the Rebel Alliance roundels she'd picked up during her time with the resistance. Currently, she's simple flat black. An A280 hangs maglocked across her back, and she flexes her left arm as she cycles the power on her stun rifle. <<Don't worry if I shoot you. The numbness will subside momentarily at this power setting.>> The droid's voice over the comms might sound a bit odd, totally lacking in any ambient sound or breathing noise as it is. <<Commencing boarding action.>> Lacking the jet thrusters Callax has, Kayfive wraps one hand around the now anchored tether and simply jumps. The cable smoothly plays through her hand, a tuck and flip letting her impact feet first. <<Maglocks active, weapons charged. Standing by for breach.>>

[Kryll]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Tarsus Bey sits with the other marines, having done this kind of thing before even though he doesn't talk about his past much. He readies his gun, loaded with stinger bolts, which he is well aware of that feeling and one he hopes to avoid this time around. With the slightly gargantuan droid jumping out first, Tarsus steps up and latches onto the tether, "On the way." and jumps out. Gliding out and across to the deck, landing deftly, he enables his mag boots and steps out of the way, detaching his cable. "Tarsus down and clear."

~ Moe sits on the bridge of his YX-950, the 'Discretion'. The gangly Verpine watches the sensors and glances out the viewports at the target beyond. <<"If anything collides with my ship, I am going to be upset.">> Moergog says over the comms. <<"I no longer own facilities large enough to dry dock for repairs.">>

The Verpine was monitoring more for floating debris than for what Callax and their teams were doing. Moe knew enough about salvage operations, though he rarely got involved in them. His specialty was the design, manufacture, modification, and repair of starships, not scrounging. ~

[Saturi]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Various beeping and booping noises can be heard from the back of the shuttle as the Pantoran explosives expert works on preparing her duffle bag full of charges. <"I will try my best not to detonate these charges early."> She jokes over the communication system, dragging up her bomb tote over her shoulder. Her gloved hands run over her industrial grade suit, checking all of the settings to make sure she isn't going to step out into the vacuum of space without the proper atmospherics set correctly. <"That's a joke."> Saturi affirms, not certain everyone would understand the humour.

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

[Jinx]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Attached to Saturi's boarding armor like a small backpack, Jinx peers over her shoulder, her dome rotating to scan around as she chirps via radio. 'I hope not! That would be very messy.' Attached like this, the seeker droid can at least plug into Saturi's armor directly so she can get a little HUD translation of the binary if she doesn't recognize it on her own. Right now, she's mostly turning her head back and forth as she keeps up her scans to watch Saturi's back as she makes the approach.

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

[Alekzander Starlock]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Aboard the shuttle, this time with his helmet on and sealed, HUD on and reporting positions and statuses of the various squadmate armors. He waits silently, eyes closed for the first half of the flight over. But about the halfway point, his grey eyes open and he studies the people in the shuttle with him. He is looking to see who has the worst case of nerves, who is cocky, who is really ready, who is sociopathic, and who just does not care.

He's making mental notes of whom to keep an eye on in the upcoming action.

But when the shuttle begins docking, he is up on his feet and heading forward where he intends to guide the squad through. Still no words spoken until the hatch opens....

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

[Callax Dalso]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

<< All right, darlings, >> Callax calls as the squad uses powered wheelgrips to descend into the corvette's shattered neck; their helmet lights are on, giving an excellent view of the scorched and twisted remnants of the white corridor in which they stand. << Line up and check your gear, that's the spirit. >> They already have their rifle out, a First Order sharpshooter iron dyed vivid purple where it should be white. Because naturally, their weapons must match their armor. Once the boarders are on the deck, Callax unfolds the short stock on the rifle, checking its long-barreled electroscope unit and the short cable that connects the rifle's body to the suit's systems via a port in their gauntlet's wrist. Once the rest are sure about their own gear, Callax looks to K5.

<< All right, >> they say next, settling now into a far more serious mein. << We'll proceed down the primary corridor on this deck to the turbolift shaft amidships. You're on point, Kay Five. We'll move single file and sweep each room as we pass it. Be /very/ careful. We only get one chance at this. >> They take a step back, then, gesturing to the unpowered and half-opened door. << After you. >>

Meanwhile, the shuttle has departed to travel down the side of the corvette's hull. This close, the holes blasted by turbolasers are as big as speeders, and even this small relatively small capital vessel looms like a monolith. << Demolitions crew, >> radios the shuttle pilot to Jinx and Saturi with Moergog included over the /Discretion/'s comms. << We have arrived at the breach. You may depart when ready. >> Of course, there is no need for a boarding line here; Saturi's suit will let her travel easily thanks to her jets. Beyond the airlock, once unsealed, a hole in the ship's engine block the size of the shuttle itself yawns, waiting to be probed.

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

[K-5Z9]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Landed and now maglocked onto the deck, Kayfive's own A280 is retrieved from its maglock mount. <<Feel free to use me as cover. Everyone else does.>> Glowing eyes pan back and forth across the corridor, the gangly droid moving forward in a decent imitation of a combat shuffle. After a bit the droid abruptly halts, one fist raised in the combat hand signal to stop. <<Movement ahead, fifty feet. Right side compartment.>> The long rifle is aimed directly at the doorway, ready for attack. <<Shifting to right side of corridor to minimize line of sight and potential incoming fire.>>

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

[Kryll]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Bey brings his rifle up to bear as K calls out contacts, and moves to the left side of the corridor to hold fast against whatever cover is available. <<"Bey copies, movement ahead. No visibile targets.">> he says over comms, keeping his rifle against his shoulder and waiting for a threats to appear, he kills his own lights to not draw fire, using the lights of K ahead of him.

~ Moe, upon hearing that the others have settled at the breech lets out a sigh. He leans forward in his seat, watching the sensors for what was going on with the wreck. Such derelicts were dangerous, and Moe really didn't feel like calling in rescue forces.

<<"Boarding team. Be aware that structural spars Alpha-Nine and Delta-Four are severely compromised. It's created many weak points in the derelict. Likely collapsed deckplates. Be mindful of where you lay your charges." ~

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

[Saturi]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

"Ready?" Saturi asks Jinx before moving towards the exit. The woman finalizes her atmospherics before decompressing the airlock and opening the metal doorway. She peers out into the black, then onto the massive ship before her. Her gloved hand comes up to enable the bright headlamp mounted on top of her helmet. "Good. Let's go." The Pantoran answers herself, not allowing the droid attached to her back to object.

The asteroid miner steps out off of the transport, letting the artificial gravity launch her out with a swift acceleration. Only after she has cleared the influence of the ship does she bother to use her suit's maneuvering jets to stabilze their path and make way for the hulking vessel. <"We're away."> The blue woman reports, letting everyone know that the demolition team isn't sleeping on the job. <"I will keep an eye out for those deckplates, thanks for the warning.">

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

[Jinx]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

'Of course I'm ready. I am a superior droid, after all.' Jinx rattles and chirps, her claws clinging securely to the back of Saturi's armor as she pushes off, her head rotating back and forth carefully as she keeps an optic open for anything unusual. 'I don't see any active systems or movement currently.' she confirms as they fly over closer.

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

[Alekzander Starlock]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Tactically, Starlock turns on his Light Amplification Optical system, and steps into the corridor of the target ship. Where K-5 is taking point, he is trusting those ahead of him to watch the front, and he turns his rifle the other way. <<Six is covered.>> he says, though he -is- moving after the rest... slowly enough that others might pass him. He figures someone should be doing rear guard. Also.. <<We are in. Orders Sir?>> he sends over the comms to Callax.

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

[Callax Dalso]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

An announcement of movement has Callax checking their rifle, pointing their head-lamp down the way. << Your show, Alek, >> they tell Starlock, stepping back into formation to allow him to issue orders. << Squad, Mister Starlock leads. We follow. >>

Meanwhile, the yawning wound in the side of the ship is such that one would be forgiven for thinking it torn by some monstrous claw; power cables and structural spars are torn and dead in the void, only illuminated by the beams of helmet lamps and the vestigial light native there thanks to the distant sun. It appears, at least, not to be full of doom.

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

[Alekzander Starlock]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

At first, Starlock hesitates for just a moment. He hasn't really had time to interact meaningfully with the troops that he is suddenly in command of. A quick survey of local activities, and he gestures at two of the troops, then points to his eyes, and then gestures towards the back.

Then he gestures to the other two, points at his eyes and then ahead and to the left (assuming that's where the motion seemed to originate) while he taps his comm twice. Over comms he says, <<Kyrll, Kay-Five. See if you can figure what that motion was. Looks like it went Starboard.>>

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

[Kryll]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Hearing orders over the comms, Bey moves up with K-5z9 to investigate and spots a target down the corridor in cover. <<"Target spotted, engaging!">> he brings his rifle up and fires the /deadly/ stun dart down range, hearing a positive impact and the death report. <<"Confirmed hostile contact, one down!">> the marine calls out over comms, looking to call out any additional targets.

[Moergog]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

~ Moe pulls up a holographic display, CR90's were common and he had a full schematic of every CEC design ever made, thanks to his hiring of a few slicers over the years. Adjusting his schematic to represent damage he's seen on the derelict, he's looking between it and sensors to verify if he's accurate. A pair of astromechs on the bridge are also helping watch for any threats. ~

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

[Saturi]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

"What makes you superior to other droids?" Saturi asks with sincerity. The woman slows their approach, the sound of silent jets reaching nobody's ear. <"We're entering now."> She announces over the radio, hands reaching out to grab onto the hulking vessel's hull. Her heart rate begins to jump as she stares into the darkened engineering corridors. A paralyzed thought forces her to pause, if only for a moment. "Switching to night vision." The woman declares, tapping her helmet to disable the headlamp and enable her optical suite.

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

[Jinx]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Jinx chirrups and beeps as she tilts her dome up to scan over the breach, flicking on a light to shine ahead to make it easier for Saturi to see in the darkness. 'I was designed to be. ID10 models were only assigned to Imperial Special Forces units, to assist with intrusions and reconnaissance. Though I am the only continuously operating ID10 units I know of from the Imperial period.'

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

[Jinx]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

'I recommend caution, also. This wreck has degraded significantly from the scans we were given.'" boop boop. 'ee ee beep too boop ee *cackle* beep ee.' ee. 'too ee click beep click.'

TRANSLATION: Jinx adds. 'There is an excellent chance of a structural failure.' Pause. 'So try not to die.'

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

[K-5Z9]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Kayfive takes her own aim point after Bey calls out his target, delivering a followup bolt at a second target. <<At least one additional still up. Engaging.>> Sadly, the bolt misses, spanging fruitlessly off the bulkhead

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

[Alekzander Starlock]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Blaster fire comes from aft, and Starlock shoves himself against a bulkhead, using a cabin doorframe for partial cover. "You two, keep a watch on our six." he says to the two back there. "Everyone else.. focus fire."

That said, he puts action to words, and lifts his rifle to his shoulder... snapping off a shot at one of the attackers. His armor has a carbon score but the target ends up with a shot to center mass.

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

[Kryll]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Bey takes a hit and calls out, not enjoying that at all. "I forgot how much I hate those rounds." he brings his rifle up tracking the man who shot him and retaliates, scoring another solid hit center mass in the torso. <<"Another down, one remaining. I took a hit.">>

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

[Moergog]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

~ <<"Demo team. I'm going to beam some points to your datapad. These are going to be the structural points that if you successfully blow them, it should seperate the engine cluster from the rest of the frame.">> Moe says over the comms as he begins broadcasting the data via tight-beam comms relay. <<"I am afraid that I know little about actual demolition work other than the scientific theory behind it. How you demo those points is up to you.">> ~

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

[Saturi]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

"To be perfectly honest, I have yet to be impressed with the prowless of droids." Saturi remarks, letting her opinion settle before speaking again. "Maybe, if you are correct, you will change my mind." It's a tall order to ask, considering the Pantoran's past experiences with mechanical beings. "Does your programming include any information on modern explosives? Although the concepts are the same, plenty has changed since the reign of the Empire."

The woman uses her jets to navigate down the hallway and into the engineering section. She spins around, making sure not to lose control of her duffel bag. <"We have begun to rig the ship. I will be starting with the more stable sections of the vessel."> And with that, the miner draws out charges before starting to place them. "Do me a favour and look over what he sent us...let me know when we start to get close to the unstable bulkheads."

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

[Jinx]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Jinx's dome rotates away from Saturi, facing behind her as she watches for anyone trying to sneak up on her. But it's FINE! EVERYTHING LOOKS FINE!

The little seeker makes a faintly rude noise 'Of course I do. I'm not as expert as you are at setting them, but I'd be a poor recon unit if I didn't know what a modern demolition charge looks like.' She beeps in acknowledgement, then after looking it over brings up little waypoints on Saturi's armor HUD. 'Here and here.'

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

[Callax Dalso]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

The sudden boiling flash of enemy fire from aft puts the boarders off guard, and thus they take a lot of stings - but not so much they are considered 'dead'. Though numbed significantly by the enemy fire, the boarders are quite happy to put them all down in return, even though a single potshot whistles past from Callax's rifle. << Need to zero those sights in again, >> they mutter, ducking in behind a ribbed section of corridor and preparing to intercept the tromping feet that comes up the hall.

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

[Alekzander Starlock]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Down to one knee, Starlock peers around the doorframe and his rifle barks once more. From a new lower vantage point. This shot pinpoints another enemy downrange... hopefully catching him a little off guard. "Keep firing. Combine your efforts and put targets -down-." he orders.

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

[K-5Z9]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Kayfive ducks into one of the nearby doorways, ducking down and extending only half her head and skinny arms around the corner to continue to blaze away. ...Admittedly not actually connecting, but suppressing fire is still useful, right?

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

[Kryll]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Bey continues to lean into the cover provided along the corridor, and fires on K's target, scoring another solid hit on the defender's left leg. "Don't worry about it K5, keep firing and keep their heads down. Misses aren't wasted shots."

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

[Saturi]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

"Setting them up and spotting them are different animals." Saturi says as she connects a series of tubes together, mounting them onto the deckplating with bolt-on clamps and an impact driver. "About twenty years ago, someone in the core developed a new safety for professional grade explosives. It's nothing more than a capulse that makes things more stable, but if applied incorrectly during your setup phase...it might not detonate." The woman pulls back the casing of one of the capulses, showing it to the droid. "Some military experts weren't so receptive, but anyone who works in an industry with explosives appreciates them." She keeps working at placing the charges, letting Jinx watch over her shoulder.

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

[Jinx]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Jinx is listening to what Saturi is saying....but then her dome starts to tilt, like she's craning her head back and forth, trying to figure something out. 'Affirmative. There is something wrong with the engineering spaces. The area looks...twisted. Off true. It may be more difficult to traverse safely.' The seeker's head spins around to face Saturi again. 'Civilian explosives tend to have more safeties, because they have more time. Organics like that sort of thing, when working with things that could vaporize them when they go off prematurely.'

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

[Callax Dalso]=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Jinx's observation gets Moergog's attention, and after a few moments of examination the expert engineer's reply is clear: the ship is far more damaged than expected, and it's no longer safe to be on board. Saturi's planting of the charges is textbook; by the time the shuttle is loaded and landed again upon the /Discretion/, the teams are treated with a light show as the explosives go off, neatly severing the drive section from the decapitated hull and finishing the work whatever Imperial executioner didn't cleanly carry out all those decades before.

See, folks? Training and fireworks. What more could one ask for?
