Rescuing Kadi

OOC Date: March 7, 2017 give or take
Location: Dagobah
Participants: Kadi, Ax, Jax Greystorm, Sesti, Rhani, Narsai, Waywards

~ Kadi had gone on a trip to Naboo a few days prior, and that wasn't anything uncommon. As long as she had Lilly with her, Ax didn't usually worry too much about her getting back and forth, after all it was a relatively short flight and little could go wrong, considering it followed the usual hyperspace lanes and the course should already be installed into her navi-computer. Of course, that was also before Kadi had installed a new upgrade to that essential part of her computer. When Kadi didn't arrive on schedule, Ax still didn't worry too much, figuring she might have stopped off on Rori to do some shopping or something. By that night, however, Ax had started to get concerned.

He'd checked with NSec and even the Hutt traffic control guys, her jump vectors were accurate, or so they seemed to be. He'd flown the route himself multiple times, pausing long enough to scan any moons or nearby planets along the way to see if maybe she'd been forced to land or something. With no luck, he'd gotten very concerned. It's then that he decided to try something else. A true longshot, given his rudimentary skill. He'd reached out with the Force. Focusing all his will on locating his wife. Sitting at a nav-computer, he'd let his mind focus while he input commands, relying on his instincts alone to guide him in the right direction. While it was a longshot, it was a time of desperation.

Calling on some old friends of both he and Kadi's, Ax loaded up in the Soul and was heading towards the Dagobah system, having no idea what he'd find there, it wasn't a place he'd ever heard of, and it was only visible on some older and more obscure star charts. ~

Jax was among the group of friends that Ax had called on. Though he'd mostly been flying copilot. He was going over some so the old star charts and looking them over. "So you think this is where she ended up? You know anything about the mud ball?" Jax playing cool Corellian not to show his concerned. He was a spacer he knew the odds with Hyperspace mishaps.

A rescue of Kadi was not going to happen without Sesti. The zabrak didn't want to say, and tried to think, that her medical expertise might be needed, but she had her med kit along with her weapons with her. She watches her cool as cool husband act like this is just another pick up, and her flat gaze doesn't seem exactly fooled, but she's not saying anything about it. Nor is she giving any indication of over concern herself as she sits back in her seat.

Meanwhile ... somewhere on Dagobah... The air is hot, humid and stinky. It's a mudball, allright, and even the forest is a tangled mess of branches, leaves, vines and wet mud. There's a nice swath of broken trees though, which might even show up, if you get close enough to them. It's not exactly an arrow, but there's a bit of directional indication to be found. And at the end, a skid or three, and there's a Gambit class freighter tucked in on a reasonably solid piece of land. Which means it didn't sink more than ankle deep. Yet. And given it's been a few days, probably it's not going to sink any further. The ramp is currently open, and both Kadi and Lily are on the outside. They are both grimey, slimey and a little the worse for wear, as Kadi actually decides she wants to try to explore a bit. She pauses though, checking on the SOS Transmitter she rigged up. If anyone gets within range, at least maybe they'll hear it? She's trying, at any rate. There are a few swollen bug bites, bumps, bruises, and cuts, but for the most part, Kadi is in one piece. Lily - even more so. Kadi has her blaster, and she nods once to Lily. "C'mon, let's see if we can maybe see if there's anything to eat ... though given how the planet smells? I can't imagine anything here is even remotely close to edible."

~ From the cockpit of the Lost Soul, Ax looks over towards Jax as they're approaching the planet. "No damned clue what's here. Hell, it's not inhabited and it doesn't look like it's got much in the way of resources, or if it does, they're not on the charts. I've never even heard of it, and there's a good chance we're wasting our time coming here, but I'm out of leads." Yeah, the Echani was worried about his wife. Almost a week she'd been gone, and he'd searched every mundane avenue to find her. Maybe he was grasping at straws, but this just felt the right approach.

As they draw near the planet, the sensors pick up the distress signal from the Crash Course. It was weak, but it was there. "Thank the gods," Ax exclaims. Keying up the inter-ship communications, he calls out to the crew of the Carrack Cruiser. "We're drawing near the planet now, and I've picked up a signal. I'm going to start a sensor sweep. Once we've triangulated the signal to a few square kilometers, we'll see if we can find a spot to land this beast, or maybe launch one of the smaller ships from the hangar."

"Sesti," Ax says, turning to the Zabrak. "I want you to be one of the first on the ground. I hope like hell your medical experience isn't going to be required, but I am glad you're here." ~

When the signal is found, and Ax begins to narrow in on it, Sesti gives a single nod, and begins to assemble herself. She checks the armor she loosened for comfort along the ride, tightening and buckling. Then her blades and med pac are all fastened and checked before she leans forward to try and peer at the planet they are approaching.

Jax gets up. "Eh... Hey if it not known by people, got no resources. You at least got a new smuggler hole to hide out." Jax says moving to prep his blaster pistol. He looks at Sesti, "I'll be right behind you to provide any support for any beasts."

Meanwhile, down on the planet's surface, Kadi is not aware that rescue is overhead. She looks grimly at Lily, and says, "You stick by the ramp, and don't let anything on. If anything other than me is headed this way, close it. And then you can open it again when I get back." Lily beepboopwhirs, but really someone has to guard the ship. "I know, but we have no fuel, Lily. I don't guarantee the remote will continue to work, especially since I sucked all the juice I dared into that distress call."

There are some more beeps from the droid, but Lily has to admit that there is some merit to it. "Don't worry, I'm not going - " What was that? A Kerthunk splash just a few feet away, and Kadi stares, hair at the back of her neck on end. "It looks like maybe a fish - splashed, but - it's not really deep enough for fish, is it?"

~ "Not exactly the place I want to hide out on, give me a nice sandy beach, temperate weather, access to good food and booze...." Ax says, trying to smile but it was apparent from the look on his face that he was definitely concerned for his wife. As the Soul pulls towards the atmosphere of Dagobah, Ax tries the comms. "Lost Soul to Crash Course, do you copy. Kadi, it's Ax, are you there?" he says, trying to keep his voice calm. "Jax, take one of the ships in the hangar, see if you can get a better fix on her location. The folliage and high humidity in the atmosphere is blocking the Soul's sensor suite. We might have to tractor her ship in, which is why I brought this beast. If you spot Narsai in the hallways or the hangar, see if she'll do a sweep as well. If nothing else, I'll lock the ship into a hover state. It will burn fuel like crazy, but she should be able to hold position for a couple of hours or so. If we're going to be longer, I'll take her into a higher orbit and fly down in the Specter."

High above the trees of the swampy planet flew the 350 meter long Carrack light cruiser. It's speed slow and its sensors trying their best to penetrate the thick foliage, heavy air, and the general muck that was Dagobah. ~

Jax looks at Sesti for a moment, "Be careful." Then he turns and starts to head towards the hanger. He starts to prep one of the Tie Avengers. Then dresssed out in his flight suit. He launches the Tie fighter. Then starts the search pattern taught to him in his Cor-Sec days. << I'm looking now, Ax.>>

One eye ridge raises pilot telling her to be careful. "You are the one who is getting ready to fly out in that... murk..." she tells him, waving a hand to a viewport. "You be careful."

Kadi has her blaster raised, staring at that spot, but there's nothing else to be seen there. Nothing at all. She's out of the ship, a few steps away so she doesn't hear any calls in at this point. She straightens her shoulders and goes a bit further, only to squawk and duck back as a couple small lizards, knee high on her, go tearing by, chased by a larger one. "Frak," she mumbles, and "Frelling - what the heck!" She's a bit startled, and that's enough to get her to turn back towards the ship. Except she steps into a spot of deeper water, and gets a good dunking in the icky stinky mud. She scrambles to her feet, blaster somehow still in one hand, but totally mudcovered, and discovers there's ... a horde of buzzing butcherflies. She can hear the ominous buzzing, a sound she's heard before, and that has her start to run back towards the ship. "Li - " she has to get some of the mud out of her mouth so she can shout, because her first attempt is a slight squawk. She's trips over a root, and smashes an elbow on a rock, but keeps running, half crawling, until she can scramble to her feet again. And then she ducks inside. "close the ramp," she manages to gasp. "Close - " The buzzing is pretty much just outside as the ramp closes, but at least only one of the bloody minded bugs gets into the ship, starting a panicked fly swatting spree.

~ "Kadi, can you hear me?" Ax calls out, putting more power to the comms. "There's no telling what kind of shape her ship is in, the SOS is weak. Hard to triangulate, but it's somewhere in the vectors I'm sending you now." Ax aims the Soul towards those same vectors, making sure to keep a high altitude to keep the massive engines on the Soul from getting clogged with whatever was in the swamps below.

Ax was a nervous wreck, he wanted nothing more than to be out there flying instead of Jax. He wanted his wife back, and he felt useless. "When we find her, I'm going to put a tracking device on her, on her droid, and on her ship." ~

It takes a while but soon enough the Tie Avenger that Jax is flying goes screaming across the sky crossing path with the Crash course. " Lost Soul. I have something on sensors. It' also looks like a Gambit. I'm forewarding you some coordinates. I don't know if I can find a place to land but will see what I can do. Then coming to a stop over a nearby clearing the pilot begins to descend to the surface.

By the time the nasty butcherbug is dead, smashed into oblivion several times over, its corpse a fist sized blob smeared on the deck of the Crash Course, Kadi is more than a little freaked out. She's managed to miss the incoming transmission, and kept Lily sidetracked enough that the droid also missed it. But now that they are finished bugslaying, victorious, Kadi manages to get to her feet, and nod. "There see? It's not so bad. - Wait - was that a ship?" By now the butcherflies have gone by, but Kadi only opens the ramp a smidgeon to check.

~ "Roger that," Ax says over the comms to Jax. "I'll bring the Soul in as close as possible." And with that, the massive ship is soon flying overhead, sensors sweeping. "I'm picking up life signs, but all different kinds, though I think I can see her." With the ship overhead, Ax is once again trying the comms to Kadi's ship. "Qadira, it's Ax. If you can hear me, shoot off a flair or something. There's one in your emergency kit. "Or, answere your damned radio." Ax looks back to Sesti. "Get your medical kit ready, Doc. I hope like hell you don't need it, but just in case." ~

Jax goes to sit the Tie Avenger he was flying down on a solid piece of ground but the vegitation, the fog, and sensors go wonkie at the last moment. Then as Jax starts the landing cycle, tree branches break and go ever which direction before the Tie Avenger splashed down into a swampy marsh. Jax sits there for a moment and cuss, "Sithspit. I am fighter pilot ace in the Resistance. I'm never going to hear the end of this." Then he opens up the channel, < Lost Soul, be careful, there's a lot of swamp in the fog. Uhm, you still got a working tractor beam right?>

The Thunderheart had been left behind today. Narsai love the ship, it was her home, but the Waywards had enough of their own and her people needed the vessel to continue the push they'd been making for just a little longer. She was here to help out a friend, and even without her ship the Mandalorian hadn't come unprepared. Stepping up to join the others after she'd taken some time to make a comlink call back to Russ about 'Mandalorian business' she steps up, helmet tucked under her arm. "If this place is anything like Dxun, we should be careful. I've been 'almost eaten' far more times than I'd prefer." Checking her jetpack she considers for a moment. "We're not likely to find a safe place to land easily, but we could drop people and pick them up if your crew have jetpacks of your own."

Waiting on the bridge for them to begin the landing, Sesti listens to the sudden sound of Jax's voice, and shakes her head. <Really. Are you not an ace fighter pilot?> she asks over the comms, and goes to one of the consoles. She checks over the buttons. "Shall I warm it up, Ax? Or should we let him swim for it?" The question seems to be rhetorical as she begins to tap, and then says on coms again <still in working order. Any sighting of Kadi?>

Having ridden all this way out to this fascenating part of the galaxy, Rhani has been making plans to return and explore. Taking the time to check her weapons now so she won't have to later, she tucks them away after only a moment. Rising as the others move forward to join the others. Her boots send muffled ripples of sound on ahead as the flooring changes. Carrying her helmet under one arm, she holds onto the hatch's frame with the other. Looking over the readings and watching Sesti for a moment, Rhani blinks, "Jax went down?"

There's no missing that sound - the whine of a fighter engine in atmo. Kadi lets her ramp down all the way and runs out, the wildlife disturbed by the TIE fighter already. So it's at the moment quiet and hopefully nothing too big is headed their way! But you never know, especially with Jax's stellar landing. "That's a - Jax?" Cause she's seen his TIE Avenger before, right? Maybe? And then she finally catches the radio broadcast from Ax, and she stops where she is, just off the Crash Course. <Ax!> That's on the radio, just the one word. At least he knows she's alive now. Kadi literally sags with relief, just hearing the beloved voice and seeing the TIE ... Then she reaches to pinch herself. <I'm not hallucinating, am I? I hope... those mushrooms ... >

Right about then, there's a tentacle coming flipping out from under the water, grabbing for Kadi and pulling her under. <Yarrghhh- > Kadi's yell is cut off as she gets upended and held in midair for a moment.

~ <What did you do to my fighter, Jax?> Ax asks over comms as the sensors of the Soul lose sight of the Avenger. The Echani tries again to reach his wife over the comms, while waiting for Jax to give him potential coordinates for retrieval of his wife and her ship. <Kadi, do you copy? We're here to get you. Answer or signal somehow if you can hear me.>

Ax looks over to Narsai. "Yeah, I've got my Gambit in the hangar if we need to land. I can leave the droids onboard here to keep this ship in hover." He looks out the viewport at the dense foliage before. "And you're right, likely no place to land this beast, but it's the only ship I have with tractor beams, and the sensors are some of the best. If Jax can't get a good fix, then we'll take the Problem Child down."

Then, he's looking to Sesti. "Yeah, get the tractors warmed up. If all else fails, I can run the tractors. Where I really need you is on potential medical. She's been here for a few days, and you know Kadi. She's not exactly the jungle queen. There's no place that delivers takeout Corellian cuisine."

Then, Kadi finally responds on the comms. <Thank the gods. Kadi, you're alright,> he exclaims. Then, there's her response and the Echani is on his feet. "Keep this bird in the air," he commands the droids on the bridge before looking to Rhani, Narsai, and Sesti. "Get the the hangar. We're gonna go down there." ~

<Not helping! Give me coordinates to Kadi and I'll start heading that way.> Jax says as he sits in the cockpit of the Tie Avenger. Then he starts to get out of the flight harnass and pulling off the helmet. Then move to get the hatch. He starts to open the hatch and climb out. His own personal comlink on line now. <Or do I need to sit tight with a flare?>

Narsai Ordo doesn't need to be told twice, her helmet is sealed over her head as she synchs the coordinates into her helmet HUD while racing for the Hanger. At first, the woman moves like she had intentions of flying the craft down herself, but she pauses and instead moves to step aside. Habits are habits, but this isn't her ship! Instead she checks her weapons one last time and remains silent. Sounds like Kadi is in trouble, best to get her mind on the job.

Rhani Aeternum's grin on hearing Kadi's voice is wiped off her face as that scream reverberates through the cockpit. Nodding uneasily to Ax, she releases the hatch and turns to start a jog back toward the hanger, "Aye, Captain." As she jogs, she afixes her helmet, she adjusts the strap and rechecks her weapons. Reaching the Problem Child she boards and finds a seat to strap into. Helmet. Check. Weapons. Check. One hand lifts to a belt at her waist. High tension rope? Check. Nodding to Narsai, she offers, "I'm Rhani."

Sesti is moving even before Ax orders it as she hears Kadi's voice. Her hand snaps out to grab her helmet from the seat she left it when she went to warm up the tractor beams, and she's on her way. < I will try to send you the coordinates from whatever we are taking to land,> she tells Jax. <Do not get eaten>. She's close on Ax's heels as well. She's already set her weapons and checked them while Jax was flying, so she's ready and strapped in as soon as Ax lets them aboard their drop ship.

Upside down, sopping wet, and trying to breathe, Kadi doesn't call out again. She instead tries to get her blaster out to try to shoot whatever has her in midair. Course she has no idea what it is, or even where it is. Breathing is difficult, yes. Squished Kadi is not impressed. But she manages to get her blaster loose and fire downward. somehow. And she does not shoot herself in the foot. What does happen though ... whatever has her now starts to shake her about like she's a doll, and she screams again, trying of all things to hold on to the tentacle that's got her in midair.

~ Pulling on his own helmet as Ax runs towards the Problem Child, he accesses the internal comms. <I'll have the droids send the coords to your cockpit's computer. You should be close, just get to her as quick as possible. Sounded like she was in trouble,> he says to Jax. Ax doesn't bother waiting on the turbolift, instead taking the ladder and sliding down with a hand and foot on each side of the rail instead of on the rungs. He'd spent the majority of his life on ships, and it showed in how he moved through this one.

"Keep up or get left behind," Ax calls to the women following. Once aboard the Problem Child, he tells everyone to strap in and begins the ignition sequence. He slams a hand down on a button and the mag-locks that hold the ship in it's berth in the hangar of the Soul release. In a freefall, he engages the thrusters, having barely the power to power them up, levelling the Gambit out just above the canopy of the jungle terrain below, searching for the first place to land he can find. The flight was definitely not a smooth one, and tested Ax's skills as a pilot. ~

Jax dives into the water himself and then comes up for air. The Corellian fighter pilot goes swiming towards the coordinates. "I am going to need a sithspawn shower after this. He grumbles as he going to swimming through the mirky water. Though just as he gets shallow enough to stand up he does that. Then a flesh tenticle under the water wraps under a leg and pulls him back and under. Look Kadi, Monkey Lizard See. Monkey Lizard do.

The flight might be rough, but it could always be worse. She'll compare orbital drops another day though, instead she rolls her shoulders and leaves her hands resting on her harness. "As soon as we're over her, pop the hatch," she instructs Ax. Narsai wouldn't have to wait for the ship to stop to get down there and try to free Kadi after all. For now? She's unaware of Jax's predicament.

Rhani Aeternum sits back up, her brow lifting slowly. Tightening the harness, she turns her gaze forward. She does not have a jetpack, so won't be going out with Narsai. Flickering her gaze around the inside of the Problem Child, she takes note of where stores are kept. Maybe she is comparing this ship to her own. Or, maybe counting things keeps her from giving in to her fear.

There's not a sound from the zabrak as she waits, staring straight ahead. She had had no troubles keeping up with Ax, and now waits, like a spring slowly coiling tighter as it prepares to be released.

Kadi is being bounced up and down, sometimes as far down as to splash into the water, sometimes not. She is having trouble holding onto her blaster, and she does throw up, which at least might take care of that mushroom issue. Course the yummy smell/taste of upchucked mushrooms in the water is sure to bring still more predators. She is also unaware of Jax's problem.

~ Ax gets over where Kadi's ship is pseudo-landed, realizing there's no place to land his own ship. "Narsai, if you want to do a drop, now's the time," he calls back to her as he begins searching for a tree he can blast away with the ship's lasers to provide a place to land the Problem Child. <Jax, I'm hovering above, where the hell are you?> he calls through the comms. "I swear, I thought desert planets were bad, seems like every jungle planet I've come to is so much worse." ~

Jax surfaces after a moment wrapped in a tenticle fighting a large beast with a maw. The Corellian pilot is weilding a fixed blade knife stabbing the beast. A roar sounds across the swamp and Ax might be able to hear it. Though it doesn't let Jax go, <Kinda busy here Ax. Don't want to get ate. Don't you got a wife to rescue?> Then Jax gets dragged back under.

A salute from Narsai, then she's gone, blaster in hand while she drops from the craft and flares her jetpack. It was a standard supercommando tactic, even if it was generally used for assault more than rescue. The moment her sensors lock onto Kadi's floundering form and her tentacle attacker she takes a breath and then speeds towards the woman, aiming to try and shoot the tentacle then catch the likely falling Kadi. It was a good thing the jetpack could carry a lot more than the two of them probably weigh together.

As the back opens, Rhani unstraps her harness. Waiting until the ship is over a likely looking section of tree branches, vines, foliage and flowers whipped into a frenzy by the ship, she steps out. She thinks that it is a decent plan. Unfortunately, the branches are not as sturdy as they looked. Down she goes, thumping against this one, knocking against that. Talk about a bumpy ride! She does manage to snag a vine that isn't a snake on the second try. Her hands wrap around it, stripping the length of leaves, blooms, small insects and a startled snail before it slows her enough that the final drop into the water is less dramatic than it could be. She should just lie here, right? Wrong. Clawing her way to the tree's massive roots, she drags herself up out of the water to get her bearings.

As Narsai moves to make her own drop, Sesti eyes the canopy just below her. Helmet now fastened securely, her hands are free, and she chooses a likely looking thick branch a couple feet to the right. She jumps, grabs the branch, and begins to swing to the next one when the sturdy looking, thick branch reveals that it's hollow, and it splinters in her hands. There's a barely audible grunt as she crashes through a few more branches before one thick enough to support her catches her across the middle. She hangs over it for a minute or two, and then she begins to climb the rest of the way down, taking a little more care to test the branches before she commit her weight to them.

Kadi's shaken, and possibly stirred as well. However, Narsai's shot manages to slice the tentacle, adding the aroma of burnt tentacle monster to the dinner call. And of course, with the rest of the tentacle still squishing around her, Kadi starts to plummet down to the water and the waiting beast below. She screams again, as she starts to go down, but it's not a very loud sound, as her breath has been nearly crushed out of her. She's starting to see stars and nearly unconscious.

~ With the ladies out the hatch, Ax goes back to looking for a place to land. A particularly large tree, something similar to a mangrove, seemed devoid of leaves, though large enough, if cleared, to provide a landing spot for the ultra-light freighter. Lining up the forward-mounted lasers, he unleashes a barrage of fire at it, reducing the tree's branches and trunk to a smoldering ruin. He'd have to wait a moment before landing, but hopefully it would provide a somewhat stable platform. <Hang in there, help is on the way,> he calls out over the comms to Jax and Kadi. <Narsai, Rhani, help Kadi. Sesti, focus on your husband. I'll be there in a moment to help whoever needs it.> ~

Moment's later, Jax surfaces once more his knife stabbing a tenticale. Then goes back under again. Then moments later a mass rises to the top as the foul water begins to take the color of the beasts blood around it. Theres a pause several moment later Jax emerges into the shallow part of the pool. His body covered in mud and blood. He lets out a grunt as he reaches up to wipe his brow off. His expression grim.

If it wasn't for the thrust of the jetpack and the protection of her armor, catching Kadi's weight mid-air would probably have knocked a lot more wind out of the Mandalorian woman's sails. Intead she's left supporting the woman in a semi-bridal carry while shifting her weight and increasing the thrust, giving a little joyful woop at her successful maneuver.

"Gotcha!"

Rhani Aeternum hears splashing off to one side, blaster fire to the other, then the sound of the ship making its own runway farther off. Drawing her knife rather than her blaster, she slips off of the tree's roots into the water. At first, she means to head for the blaster fire, figuring the splashing is either Jax or something she is none too interested in finding. Pushing off from the root, she does not glide gracefully toward the opposite side of the pool. Instead, a vine cozies up to her foot and keeps her in place. Looking back, she frowns and moves to slice herself free. Tossing the bit back at the tree, she misses squishing another startled snail by an inch or two. This time when she sets off in the direction of the blaster fire, she makes fair progress. Clamboring out of the pool, she spots the Mandalorian holding Kadi. Unsure of the denizens on this planet, she does not shout but her 'woohoo!', while quiet, is exuberant.

Purple eyes lift to not Kadi being caught, and there's something of a grim smile for the before Sesti turns to look at the pool of widening red and she dashes a few paces into the water, knives drawn and ready to attack. But then her husband comes up from the muck, and she realizes it isn't his blood, so she stops and waits for him, gaze sweeping the surface of the water to make sure the tentacled thing's mate doesn't decide to come in for revenge.

The beasty below Kadi is short one tentacle, but it has others. And it is hurt and hungry. So a couple tentacles now come swinging up aiming at Narsai and Kadi, perhaps sensing a two-for-one-deal. Head's up - two tentacles in the air, looking for prey!

Kadi manages to find a hold on Narsai's armour, but her grasp is not at all firm, as Kadi is fading in and out of consciousness by this point.

~ Smoke clears and Ax is setting the Problem Child on the massive stump that was all that was left of the large tree he'd blasted to hell with the ship's lasers. Hatch still open, he's rushing towards it. He'd left Adder on the Soul, fortunately, or the tailring would likely be getting in his own trouble. "KADI!" he calls out, pistol in hand as he rushes towards the edge of the water looking for a clear shot at whatever the hell the tentacle monster was. ~

Jax looks at Sesti giving her a grin. "Glad to see you." He says as he sheaths the knife. "Look more tenticles, It's like going to Twi'licks but nowhere as hot and you know they're trying to eat people. So it's like if the hutts were on stage. Let go get Kadi out of here."

It's never that easy is it? Letting her blaster carbine hang free on its sling, Narsai has one focus and one only: avoid getting her and Kadi snagged! She weaves and arcs through the air with practiced skill, managing to avoid getting dragged down so far. With the half-concious woman in her arms she's hardly going to turn around and fight, even if she's wishing she'd borrowed one of Russ' detonators.

Oh, but wait. Why is Narsai risking having Kadi vomit all over her by jouncing around that way? Rhani sheeths her knife in favor of the blaster. Moving forward through the trees, she tries to avoid splashing across wide, watery expanses. Making it close enough to see thet tentacles, Rhani frowns. "No you don't, beastie." Aiming low, she sends a shot into the rippling, thrashing water where she thinks the creature must be.

"Looks like you are finally figuring out which end of the blade to poke into the enemy," Sesti tells Jax with a grin. Her head turns to follow his look and she lifts her blades again as she turns and walks towards the tentacles still trying to get Narsai and Kadi. "My turn," she tells Jax over her shoulder without taking her eyes from the adversary. Rhani's blaster bolt goes flying by her before she wades in, blades whirring and flashing, and soon she's creating her own red puddle in the swamp. "Is that everyone?"

Interestingly, one of the tentacles comes very close to Kadi, and it cringes back all of a sudden, without any noticeable reason. Certainly, Kadi isn't at the moment doing anything but being deadweight.

The critter in the water however is now sushi. The two tentacles sliding back down into the water nearly soundlessly, as Sesti finishes the blighter off. There is a definite mess in the water though that will no doubt smell DELICIOUS to any other predators in the area.

~ Waving his hands towards the Problem Child, motioning everyone to get the hell aboard. Then, his mind goes to something else, something he'd studied only recently. Taking a deep breath, he raises a hand towards Kadi and Narsai, and with a focus of will, a shimmer of air around the pair appears. How long he could maintain that, he was unsure. Hell, he'd barely practiced it before and had never once tried the protecting wave in a real situation.

Apparently, whatever he'd done was just in time and worked. "Dammit, get to the ship!" he yells out, keeping his pistol raised in one hand and his other extended to try and concentrate to give Kadi and Narsai what little protection he can. ~

Touching down, Narsai was providing a protection of their own for escaping the monster: speed! Burning thrusters she arcs them up, up and away from the hungry limbs, but the woman does glance back over her shoulder at the 'wavering' in the air behind them. That's a neat trick she'd have to inquire about another day. "I'm clear!" she calls over her helmet. "Get out of there."

Shaking her head, Rhani holsters her pistol and redraws her knife. It does not pack the same kind of punch, but a punch is only worthwhile if it lands. Waving to Ax first, thetn the Mandalorian holding Kadi, she slogs her way through the swampy earth toward where Ax has parked his ride. Slip-sliding over muddy hillocks and down through slimy dales, she finally climbs up onto the broken tree acting as a landing pad. Stomping, she sheds as much water, mud and denizens as she can before boarding the ship. Sinking into a seat, she fastens the harness in preperation for a quick escape.

Satisfaction, Sesti stalks back to the shore, cleans her blades as best she can before she sheaths them. First objective, save Kadi from tentacles achieved. Second objective, treat her, is now her goal. She follows the others up to the ship, then pulls her med pac out as she enters, and goes over to where Narsai has put her down.

The semi-conscious Kadi manages a bleary look at the tentacle that somehow hits wavery air, and that is enough that she ends up totally unconscious, passing out from the fear and freakiness of the situation. However, with the immediate critters dead, and the incoming critters not yet here, there is time enough for everyone to get aboard the problem child. Except Lily who closes the ramp of the Crash Course, and stays with that ship for the moment.

Once aboard, Kadi (and the tentacle still rigor mortised around her even if it has been sealed by blaster fire, and cut in half) is brought to medical. Everyone else gets to relax a bit and clean up.

~ With everyone safe onboard, Ax gets the Problem Child airborn again and soon, lands it upon the Lost Soul. His first order of business is checking on his wife, then it's a couple of hours of using the tractor beams to pull the Crash Course and the Wraith out of the mud that the ships are half-buried in. With everyone and the ships onboard, Ax sets the ship back towards the Y'toub system, then it's off to check on his wife again in the medical bay of the large vessel, as the flight would take a while. ~
