Intel analysis for a prospective new strike.

OOC Date: July 15, 2019
Location: Beacon Outpost, Rori
Participants: Ektor, Halwinder, Karas Darkwing, Miri Sakir, Nova Korell, Poe Dameron, Sar Yavok, Tallissan Lintra, The Resistance

Occupying the large central workspace, this meeting has gathered personnel from command, Intel, and the Starfighter Corp to review a prospective mission at the request of Special Agent Silver Astro. The solemn Zeltron in a sharp Intelligence uniform looks aside and nods to one of the junior operatives, who conducts yet another of the several-times-a-day surveillance sweeps to ensure the workspace is free of any listening devices (those present had checked comlinks at the turbolift, as was typical).

Silver draws a breath and greets those assembled, "Sirs, thank you all for your presence. We proceed under Alpha level security," she notes, indicating secrecy beyond those present. "A proposal was submitted outlining a para-military raid on the First Order frigate *Breaker* in the Tyrius System. Our job today is to determine whether this raid can be carried out without weakening the Fleet's defense of Naboo, whether it can be carried out with a reasonable chance of success, and whether such a strike would pose any danger to the Rodian civilian population.

"As part of our groundwork, Intel has been looking into why the enemy has committed a capital ship- even a smaller one- to an otherwise unlikely Outer Rim world with a substantial alien population. Toward that end, a reconnaissance mission was dispatched yesterday, under Captain Lintra." She turns her regard onto Tallie with those words. "Captain, would you share your team's findings?"

Tallie steps up to the front of the room and nods to the Zeltron Intelligence Officer. "Ma'am." Just off of ops she is still in her bright orange flight suit standing before the blue holo projection blank for the moment. She steps partly aside and a projection of the Tyrius System is flashes into existence with the planet and a FO frigate icon brightly blinking on it..

"Rodia, as you know has a Nebulon-K Frigate on its doorstep, it's been in orbit since the Hosnian catastrophe.

"It hasn't made sense to us for a while and some of the obvious questions regarding need to be answered. We had three of our people drop in and do a look see: Starbird with two crew - myself and Nova Korell, Wanderlost with Captain Kaelyn and Kisaiya - first mate. Sar Yavok also dropped into the system along with one Deel...hmmm...I don't have his complete name.

"First findings indicate that the frigate as being identified in the system is the Void Crosser not the Breaker. They are on point and asking for any incoming ships to identify themselves and to use regular orbital lanes for shipping.

She looks down consulting her data pad, of note, "During our entire time in system we recorded no transmissions between the planet and the Void Crosser. I will leave you to draw conclusions from this.

"Secondly, thanks to a clever ruse on the part of the Wanderlost a large amount of encrypted data was captured and passed on to our intelligence sources.

"Lastly, though perhaps of major importance: a large convoy is being expected in system."

Poe Dameron is present and seated against the wall. He isn't actively trying to run the brief, but trying to give the officers room to breath. Being in charge meant being willing to listen to what others had to say, and putting value in their skills. It was something he had to learn the hard way. Quietly sipping caf, he glances up when the brief starts and angles a dark gaze from the Special Agent to Tallie, and listens as she gives her brief over the operations.

On the fringes of the meeting, Nova gives Silver Astro a quiet nod and smile of greeting, not wanting to interrupt the meeting's protocol. She's clad in the regular pilot's uniform, not having been on flight duty today. Judging by the freshly-showered look of her hair, she must have been instructing a hand-to-hand class. She glances at Tallie, then addresses Agent Astro. "The locals are cooperating pretty well with the First Order, too. We got scanned by a passing Pursuer-class vessel as it was headed outsystem," she recalls.

Being a former intel man himself and having some degree of command; Sar Yavok is posted up over by Poe, his arms crossed over his chest as he watches the discussion. His eyes fall on to Tallie for a moment before they return to the projector. However, apart from the occassional 'hrmm', he's remaining quiet for now.

When the most basic of information- the name of the target- is revealed to be incorrect, Silver Astro turns a flat look and shake of her head on Ektor.

Ektor is slouched unevenly in a chair, one arm hanging over the back, as he casts a lazy eye around the room. When he gets a pointed look, the Tionese pilot turns to look behind him, as if the spy were glaring at someone behind him. Turning back with a crooked grin, he drawls, "What? It's still a frigate, yeah? The important stuff still holds up."

Silver Astro rolls her eyes and looks back to the others. "On the subject of this convoy, Intel has been able to learn that the frigate above Rodia is posted to oversee occasional cargo convoys from the Unknown Regions, toward the Galactic Core. The origin and contents of these convoys remain undetermined. But, given the lack of communications, while the Rodians are cooperating-" she notes with a nod to Nova, "There appears to be no strategic or political alliance in place, nor does the enemy enjoy any particular support among the populace."

Halwinder walks brisky into the office, making sure to have practiced his sheepish look several times before entering. He looks sheepish and clears his throat. "Sorry I'm late. Er...perhaps I should have asked where the office was before the meeting instead of entering every room in the complex until I hit the right one."

Tallie has left the podium and returned to her seat next to Nova. A smile flits on and off her face at Silver's eye roll at Ektor. Arms crossed, she leans back comfortably waiting for the analysis of the encrypted data to be revealed. Discreetly, she elbows Nova and lifts her chin at Ektor but remains silent.

Miri Sakir slips in, still in her flight suit. She isn't late. Nope.

Nova blinks and glances back at Tallie, shadowing a smile at the other blonde. Ektor gets a sympathetic look, though; the grunt knows how it feels to be out of her depth... and probably saying something boneheaded because of it.

"It's the same typical First Order motive here. Adopt a point of interest, manage the space above it to secure a particular pipeline.. whatever that might be, and leave the populace to do their own business and run their own affairs so long as they don't interfere with the FO. So while the populace isn't really effected by the presence of the FO right now, it could be. Look at Corellia for instance, when the Rangers started stirring the pot there. The First Order imposed higher fuel costs on the whole planet to encourage CorSec to get off their butts. What we should consider is the fallout for Rodia if we fail. Sure we'll suffer the losses, but they'll remember it's the Resistance that made life worse for them."

This comes from Poe's spot along the wall. He sets his caf cup aside and leans forward a bit.

"Well, right now I can guarantee you we're losing sympathizers on Rodia due to inaction," Sar offers to Poe, looking over at him. "So, our only course is to do something about it, and make sure we don't screw it up while we're doing it."

Silver Astro gives a short nod to Halwinder at the other agent's arrival. "Agent Halwinder, do you have the tactical analysis of the vessel?"

Ektor rolls one shoulder in an easy half-shrug. "As for fuel? People generally get pissed at the one charging them, not some bunch like us they never see, yeah? No lie, the Eff-oh don't leave many cap ships isolated with their asses hangin out, like this. I say Rekk em. Big shock, I know.." the Lieutenant adds, dryly.

Halwinder adopts the expression of an Intel agent that should be taken seriously. Whether or not that works is... well not up to him really. He strides forward, and inserts some data into a holoprojector. On it appears a standard looking frigate. "What I was able to glean from tapping into the First Order data network is as follows." he says, pressing a button to start the frigate slowly rotating. "A Nebulon-K class frigate. No siginificant modifications I was able to cross reference with maintenance records and the original blueprints." he says, blowing the image up for a few rotations and allowing this information to absorb.

Solon presses another button, and 6 TIE fighters appear in formation around the frigate. "The frigate is being escorted by a compliment of six TIE/fo fighters. Again, standard issue according to maintenance records and blueprints." he says, pressing a button to shrink the frigate and make the TIEs bigger. "I found transfer records dated a week ago, and it looks like a veteran wing was rotated in to replace, alas, what was a much less experienced combat flight. These aren't quite elites, but they have logged a significant amount of combat time from what I could glean from their transfer records."

"Rekk'em. How I'd like to do that!" Tallie uncrosses her arms and leans forward in her chair giving a thumbs up to Ektor. "How do we know whether they have a convoy of ships or not waiting a micro-jump away to catch us as we go in? Would they commit resources to that kind of maneuver? As for a more experienced squadron going into place," she lifts her chin and looks around the room, notably at the other pilots, "we can handle them."

"Yeah... It looks like just one frigate and some good TIE jockeys, but if we don't blow it up before it can call for help, we'll likely be facing more than that," Nova says, standing for a better look at the holographic frigate, planting her hands on the table and leaning on them. Such a cool trick, these animated briefing models! "And if the locals won't fight even after we blow it up, it's all for nothing. The Order'll just send another frigate to secure the route again, and things will get worse for Rodia. Do we have anybody on Rodia who can convince the locals to resist?"

"Any way we could get a team inside?" Sar asks, looking around the room. "They run supplies to or from Rodia? If so, I mean, we stowaway and take out the reactor. Boom. Free Rodia," the Colonel explains.

Silver Astro nods to Solon at the report. She looks to Tallie at the question. "We don't, Captain. It is considered unlikely, due to the length of this deployment without incident." Her shoulders rise with a slowly drawn breath. "Fleet Command has ordered that the Renegade battle group and its attached fighter squadrons cannot be moved from the defense of the Naboo System. Any standing Resistance commitment would be limited to Black Squadron vessels, and civilian volunteers." The Zeltron regards those assembled. "Command has instructed me to ask how you rate the chances of success, in light of present information." She adds to Sar, "Present intel shows no transport or direct communication between Rodia and the Voud Crosser, sir."

Ektor grins at Nova, "Nah, but see that's the thing: if we can waste a medium cap ship, and make the Ef-Oh send a kriffing Destroyer there? That's one less big rekker they got someplace important, yeah? And- AND, we'd get to blow up a frigate, yeah?" as if that alone were reason enough. To the group at large, he adds, "I got half a squad on Tion who'd go for this, if we pull the trigger."

Halwinder steps away from the podium and takes a seat. "I'm of course willing to be apart of any non-flight activities needed for the mission and act as forward Intel support." he says, and then frowns. Perhaps he should have said that before sitting down. Too late, play it cool.

Miri Sakir glances around before raising a hand. "Uh, so what is going on?"

"Any idea what operations we'd be screwing up for the eff-Oh if we do come in and smash this thing? Additionally.. how close was it to the planet. We bring the Valor in and punch a hole through it, we want to make sure its guts aren't spilling all over the planet crushing baby Freedo with a detached laser turret emplacement. The Valor doesn't have the means to tractor beam, so it may be a scenario that requires us to lure them away from the planet." Poe stands up then, rubbing his chin.

Tallie glances around the room briefly to ensure herself that no one is about to speak, then stands, "Wouldn't one of the satellite fleet be able to pull in, at the very least, a corvette to pile it on and lure them out? It's just making sure they have the crew that can handle the fighting that concerns me. Black can handle the TIE fighters if we have something pounding the Frigate, to my mind." She nods to Poe, "Civilian casualties being taken into consideration. Giving them a one-two punch would be the answer."

Karas is late but he's here, typical Karas. Still he finds a place to sit which is near Miri and he pulls out his data pad and begins taking notes as he listens to whats going on. He looks at the holo images of the patrols and the Nebulan-K.

"Bellum would be useless against a frigate," Sar says. "And the Firebrand ain't got enough teeth, either. But, I'll fly with you as long as Dameron ain't too afraid of me wreckin' one of his birds."

"I have a Skipray, if it'd help against that frigate," Nova says, a little uncomfortably. Planning for space things isn't one of her strengths. Neither, apparently, is sitting down so other people can see; she's still absorbed in the displayed holo-vessels. She touches a control and makes the fighters circle the frigate, CAP-style. The laser noises might start at any moment...

Silver Astro accesses the holoprojector to sort through the reconnaissance data for the answer to Poe's question. "The enemy frigate was posted in the outermost.. twenty percent of Rodia's gravity well. Significantly outside orbit." Mention of corvettes draws a slight frown to the Zeltron's eyes. "The risk of any corvettes or heavy transports lies in the frigate's eighteen turbolaser batteries. No ship below a medium cruiser could survive for long."

"So we bomb it to hell, yeah?" Ektor offers. "Listen, the old man can fly my X-wing-" he volunteers with a thumb toward Sar, "I got six missile capable warbirds outta Tion. We ask around, we prolly got some friends who would show up and sling a few torpedoes next to the X-wings, yeah? Could passes of bombers, smash in their faces, dance on a few graves on our way out."

Halwinder listens along to the meeting, less interested now that he's not the center of attention. "I really should learn about all this stuff." he mutters to himself.

Nova blinks as the frigate vanishes from the display, replaced by a lot of numbers and words. She leans closer and tries to read them, but with Silver on the other side of the table, they're all backwards. Frell...

"It's going to require some guile on our part. We can fit Sar in on the roster, like Lt Apollyon said. Black Squadron should probably roll in first for a quick attack run on the Frigate. We can pull its teeth out, lower the shields with a few bombing runs. But we'll need something in the area plugging up their comms to keep them from getting on the horn for back up."

Poe walks around the view table. "We get the frigate down just enough, I micro-jump out and radio for the Valor to come out while the rest of the squadron continues on turret duty. Valor comes in, dealing with a frigate already damaged and limping; does what she does and gives it the business. Easy day. Questions?"

"Long odds but if the Hammer is with us, we can shorten it significantly. What will lure the Frigate out or is that even a necessary?" Tallie asks. With a significant look at Nova discreetly points at the seat next to her.

Karas quirks a brow a little bit, though as the plan is coming to fruition, he nods his head and grins a little bit. "This is going to be a fight." he says as he leans back in his seat watching the display ahead and relaxing into his seat.

"The Warhammer- and the rest of the Renegade battle group- cannot be deployed in this instance," Silver Astro reminds Tallie. "It must remain to ensure the defense of Naboo."

Ektor grins at Poe's 'Easy day' plan. "I like it. I mean sure, I always like blowing drek up, but still. So what now, we ask around all discreet-like, without saying any names or places, and see who we know what wants to blow up a cap ship on the sly?" he asks, folding hands behind his head.

Silver Astro eyes Ektor, visibly doubting the necessity of agreeing with him. "...Yes. I must stress again, *utmost* secrecy must be maintained in regards to the target, its location, and even the class of the target."

Halwinder clears his throat. "I mean you asked me to go on a mission that I didn't know the destination or target of and /I/ went." he comments. "There has to at least be.. like three people around here as stupid as I am."

"Ooh... anything we can bring in with a jumbo-size jammer?" Nova queries, glancing over at Poe. "Maybe we could keep it out of range but still let it blanket their distress and combat channels? I don't know if we could blow up their communications array quick enough to muzzle 'em... not with an X-Wing, anyway."

With her attention wholly on Poe, she entirely misses Tallie's discreet signal to sit herself down and stop blocking the view with her body.

"I have a fighter that's got a sensor package. It's rekking fast, but she can't take many hits. It might be enough to jam their frequencies long enough for the Valor to roll in. Even if we don't get much more than their fighters and their turrets, a pissed off Bunkerbuster jumping in with all cannons firing at the cyclic rate will get the job done." Poe answers.

Ektor grins at Halwinder and raises his hand. "I am *definitely* one of those three, yeah?" he states with a crooked smile. "Oh, wait- you meant three OTHER people, yeah? That makes more sense.." He brightens up when Nova mentions a jammer. "*Good* thought.." Abd Poe has one! "We are in the booming business, yeah?" A dumb chuckle follows.

"The Commander plan is the one to go with." Tallie stands again to address the room, looking about her. "But three who would commit to going someplace without knowing where or why?" Tallie spares a head shake at Ektor joining her look with the Zeltron's skepticism. "I know the satellite crews would do that but no one with the piloting capacities we need. You think the Wanderlost could jam sensors for us?" She is speculating aloud.

"Yan could probably be talked into it," Sar says. "As long as we promise to pay him," he ellaborates. The Old Man stands up straight and rests his hands on his gunbelt. "Other'n that, I don't know nobody. Ain't the social type."

"Whether it's a fighter or something bigger, something does have to keep them from calling for help long enough for us to blow up their comm array," Nova says, frowning. "I don't know if a fighter's jamming system will have enough power to keep a frigate's comm system from transmitting."

She pauses as a thought hits her. "Wait... Sunshine? Remember that big burst of active-scan noise that that dizzy freighter captain put out on the mission itself? What if we could sneak a civilian-looking vessel into the system just before the attack with a jammer on board? It could get close just by looking innocent, and jam the comm transmitter once we start the attack!"

Karas is quiet though with all the information he needs is now in his data pad, he puts it in his pocket and listens to the rest of the squadron as they talk. Taking in the chatter and he looks to Miri as she is also quiet, "Yes Ektor we all know you love blowing up stuff, so do I." he chuckles.

"Them Sephi is damn sure crazy enough," Ektor notes to Tallie's question. "They just talk too much, so maybe tell them last minute or something, yeah?" He turns a grin toward Karas. "Well, come on: blowing drek up is pretty great."

Silver Astro rises, and offers to the assembly of pilots (and Halwinder): "With that I'll leave you all to your preparation, sirs. If the Intelligence division can be of any further assistance, you know where to find me."

Tallie has sat back down and crossed her arms. A cat that got the cream smile lights her face as she nods at Nova, "A little mind reading Nova? That's exactly what I was thinking." Her eyes light on Ektor then pass to the Zeltron who she gives a knowing dip of her head, then she addresses the room in general, "We all like blowing the right drek up, as long as it is Ef-Oh drek."
