Pirate King's Ransom: Part 2

OOC Date: March 29, 2019
Location: Utapau
Participants: Poe Dameron, Callax Dalso, Ektor, Elrych Cometburn, Kare Kun, Lofty, Merek, Miri Sakir, Renek Crowe, The Resistance

The fighters and U-Wings that settle into the hangar bay of this pirate vessel do so under heavy fire. Blaster bolts colored red and blue furiously ping the shields of the crafts only to be redirected. Black Leader was the first in, and it's settled at the far end of the bay, her pilot already sliding off the wing to land behind a series of crates. Poe's X-Wing lifts back up and exits through the appropriate lane, BB-8 is piloting it from the socket.

The hangar bay is huge and has only a single exit through a pair of heavy doors that are currently shut. From the doors, which are situated at the group's 12 o'clock, several tall crates are stationed along the flight line and scattered in random placement leading up to the door. Poe Dameron is at the 6 o'clock near the aft bulkhead and behind a large crate. He chose to set down here because his Anti-Personnel turret had wiped out the five people who had occupied the spot before him.

Waving to the fighters who are coming in now, Poe gestures vigorously for them to set down in his general area.

<<"Climb out and find cover near me! Let your droids fly your crafts back out!">>

The pirates responsible for firing at the X-Wings saw the nasty result of one X-Wing's turrets. Using cover became a necessity , so pin-pointing their exact number is impossible. However, there are many between the 6 oclock position Poe is at and the central hangar door leading out.

The landing is a quick one, Kare brings the craft in fast and pulls back to set down with a light jostle, Rev beeping at her as he remains behind her cockpit and out of harms away. Ignoring the droid she reaches down for her pistol and pulls it clear and free of her holster, checking the setting and the cell she glance up. She hits her canopy open as there is a moment where a few are reloading and slides out the side of the craft as her boots hit the deck floor.

She clears the ground, running quickly with a pound of her feet. No need to be silent here. Kare lowers and slides into place not far down from Poe, ducking her head as she double checks her pistol and looks up at him. A simple nod is given as the Lieutenant rolls a shoulder back and readies to fire, her gaze narrowing as she gets herself into position.

<<Great, our lives are in the hands of my lousy astromech?>> Ektor gripes through a grin, adding, "Hey, BB-8? Great prank, by the way: don't let Genius kill us all, yeah? Gold One coming in.>> Over his shoulder, he mutters to his gunner, "Your time to shine, big guy. And just for the record: look at how NOT wrecked the bird is when I say that. Nice, yeah?" Popping the armored canopy, the Tionese pilot vaults out and hurry-limps for cover, pistol in hand.

Merek has come in one of the ships with the pilots that are boarding the corvette. He comes from the ship with his black armor on, though it has the sigil of the New Republic on it. He lifts up his 718 blaster while he looks around, and moves forward with the main team, and settles up at where Kare and Poe have to take some cover with them, while he shifts his weapon.

As Black Ten lands upon the deck, Callax already has the hatch opening - and quick as an armed gazelle pulls his pistol on the way out the ship. << Off you go, darling, >> the pilot calls to his droid over the comms, hitting the deck and sprinting for the closest cover. << Do give us some suppressive fire on the way out, won't you? >>

For all that Miri whines about missing her T-70, it never handled like /this/. She pulls in tight, hovering just feet above the deck, then slams the canopy open (maybe a little rougher than necessary, but adrenaline will do that), grabs her blaster, and slides down the wing. She gives the wing a little tap and upnods to Henibi, and she dashes to a bulkhead as the little R4 unit flies Black Eight back out.

"Kriffing let me out of this, bird." Renek grumbles low and agravated to Ektor. "There is no leg room in this bloody thing." As soon as the cockpit on the Y-Wing opens, Renek is up and over the edge -- heavy booted feet dropping onto the durasteel deck with a tremendous thud. He crouches for a moment, slinging his rifle up from his side into a ready position, and looks over to the pilot. "That ship sure does look pretty. It's a shame something bad is gonna happen to it." He flashes a vicious grin at Ektor, and then sprints towards cover.

The hulking former Republic Army soldier slides in next to Kare, and then glances over at the young pilot. "Fancy seeing you here, Lieutenant." He rumbles amiably, happy to be out of the cramped cockpit, and into a firefight -- that same bloodthirsty smile still playing across his lips. His rifle is sat up on top of his cover, and he starts to search for targets.

Elrych's T-85 screams into the Hanger Area, laying down covering fire from the dorsal turret. Thanks Kid. He's a horrible shot anyways. This gives the green clad Jedi time to jump and slide from out of his cock pit and over to a crate for some cover. He looks back as Kid turns the ship and blasts back out of the hanger again. Taking a moment to stell him self and call on the force, if it was willing and if he could concentrate today, to make him fast and accurate. Aim small miss small. That kind of thing. He reaches into his robes which he had changed into on approach and pulls out those Shades of his. Then stepping out he puts them on, right hand reaching out, calling upon the force, it flies off his belt and into his hand. Then brilliantly it ignights, reflecting in the dark dark glass of his shades.

Lofty awkwardly tumble-falls out of Ektor's Y-Wing where he was manning the ion turret, landing with a THUD in the docking bay. The large white Talz runs for the cover of crates. He quickly removes the bowcaster from his back, deploying the two round globes attached to the weapon's ends. He cocks it with a great expenditure of strength and the globes start humming, creating a magnetic field to increase the velocity of the bowcaster's metal exploding quarrels.

Black 10 has engaged its turret, thanks to the Droid Fang. Angry red bolts dance from the ventral turret as LIDAR tracking identifies enemy IFFs to fire at. Under the control of a droid, the information being streamed back is filtered through quickly, and the turret respond. Sparks fly as the loud discharge of the auto-turret-cannon ring out, making it very difficult for people to communicate save for yelling over the chaos. Men and women alike scream in terror as a result of the deadly tracking system, and one pirate is shot three times when running for cover, the bolts so accurate and deadly they keyhole through the same blaster wound until the exit wound concusses outward, spilling steaming parts on a crate they intended to take cover behind.

Meanwhile, pirates are shifting toward the personnel, yelling as they fire at the ships first, but try to acquire new ground. Six pirates become visible from the Resistance left flank, moving quickly as a group to try to obtain an advantage on the Resistance. Little did they realize, they were spotted!

"Left side! Left side!" Is all Poe yells, no specific tactic. He takes aim, using the crate to steady his arm, and fires using the DL-44 he always had at his side. Three shots, and one of the six are taken out with two devastating chest shots. Poe ducks back down.

Renek gets a familiar smile from the short pilot, a smirk playing at her lips as she keeps her helmet on and pushes up the yellow shield to free up her gaze. "Welcome aboard, I would greet you properly but this boat is not ours yet..soon though." She winks at Renek and nods to Merek when that movement catches her eye and Poe yells out the positioning. Up comes her pistol and as she sights down she cries out, "FOCUS FIRE! If one does not fall join your comrades in shooting them down!" She says and then is got Moreland. Two of her shots hit hard against the pirate and leave him smoking.

She keeps her eyes tracking her target when they stay down she is ready to move on as the others of the resistance begin to pepper the pirates. "Once you hit your target we are moving forward. We get ground we take it."

Ektor snickers at Renek. "YOU think there's no leg room? Try griping to the Talz some time, yeah?" he advises with a cackle, and a thumb toward Lofty. "Ey, Fluffy- niiiiice gun you got there." Oh, right, they're being shot at. "Oh, right.. the gunfight. COME AND GET IT, HUTT-SUCKERS," he hollers with a couple hasty shots. "Heh.. I'm all kinds a sneaky, yeah? Did I get him?" No, no he did not.

Merek looks from the cover while he sees the pirates coming to them, then he lifts his weapon to take two shots at them. One hits Prost and it looks like he can't even fight any more, while he shoots another but it hits the wall. He then shifts his attention to the other pirates that are there.

Squatting behind the nearest cover, Callax performs the duty of misercorde; spotting one of the injured fires of the first sortie, and already grinning from the carnage reflected in his helmet's visor thanks to Fang's excellent suppressive fire, he fires a shot at the hapless Fyor Prost, rendering the pirate's head into a canoe via a steaming channel carved through the man's skull. Another shot is fired at the man near the hapless corpse, but the red bolt spat by his pistol goes wide.

Miri Sakir presses her back to the bulkhead, taking three centering breaths, then turns and fires. "Does your rekkin' mouth /ever/ stop, Tion?" she calls out, even though she knows the answer. No. It never, ever does. "Bringing tape next time, I swear." She fires two shots at one of the pirates in quick succession, both shots striking true, putting nasty holes in the man's chest. Her target falls and she ducks and advances. "Cleaning up your messes, too," she adds.

"I hope it is a propper Trandoshan greeting," Renek says with a boisterous laugh. "Those are my favorite." The soldier pops up from behind cover here, and levels his large rifle at one of the pirates. Renek spies several unarmored targets, which he moves to target mercilessly, but they are all gunned down before he can get there. Ektor's comments about legroom earn a quizical glances from the large man, but he quickly refocuses on the task at hand. Renek draws a bead on the armoured form of Bernarda, and then pulls the trigger. The blaster goes off with a heavy thump, but the shot goes wide -- causing Renek's lips to twist into a snarl.

Elrych is, well... he's not exactly behind cover. He's gifted with the ability of foresight and a weapon that can, if used properly, block blaster bolts. He's been training enough with the remote he's mastered that affair. He haddn't noticed the group coming from the left, so the Jedi turns his head as Poe shouts, his body following after. As the bolts fly past him from where the rest of the team is behind more cover, he leaves the fammed weapon type in one hand and reaches out the other, palm out. There is the sound of thunder and several crates violently explode away in every sort of direction near Bernarda. The shades wearing Jedi purces his lips, "A little off there, huh bud?"

Lofty warbles at Ektor. "Follow Lofty, we take ground." The Talz pops up from his crouching position behind the crates, firing wildly with supercharged bolts sped along by the matte black globes generating a magnetic field. One hits, striking Dahn Torpoli and barreling him over. Then the large white-furred alien begins to advance through the field of fire.

The trade off between the Resistance and the six attackers is very one sided. Their advance was foiled from the get-go, and four of them went down in a blaze of glory before even getting a chance to fire a kriffing shot. Two remain on the left side, Dahn already injured and knocked down. "DAHN!" Yells Bernarda, her voice shrill as she sees her lover struggling to get back up. Against all odds, she risks it for him, trying to reach him, grab him, and pull him back behind .

Meanwhile, the remainder of the pirate forces in the hangar have pushed ahead from their position and try to surround Black Squadron. They approach from the 12 o'Clock and 3 o'Clock regions from Black Squadron..

Poe, from his position, sees the sudden rush and stands up from his cover to move. "ENGAGING RIGHT!" He yells, firing the DL-44 into Kyle Jansen, who suffers two rounds to the chest that stops him short, then he adjusts aim to sink a third bolt into Ryate's off hand shoulder. Poe sprints away from the center, and slides to the left flank behind another box.

As they take down the first engaged targets Kare is just letting a huff of a laugh and replies to Renek, "You are going to have to show me that one, Tion can likely help you with that," she muses. Pushing forward then she watches Poe move and glances to Renek, "Let's move forward to the left, there," she makes a motion to the crates and is getting up, throwing herself over their first cover only to see more coming. She lifts up over the crates and begins to fire down upon the incoming, taking up a new position.

Three bolts swing true from her pistol as she cuts off the closest with two, one to the chest and the other to the face that leaves him crumbling before she moves right to his right and hits the next pirate beside him. She lowers then, slipping down at the angle in the crate that offers her a little more cover as she checks round and slips back up to ready for her next volley.

"No, no it does not!" Ektor hollers back at Miri with a crooked smile. When Lofty barrels forward, Ektor returns, "Right behind you, Fluffy! Engaging... THAT GUY," he yells in poor mimicry of Poe's 'engage right'. Not only does he miss, he wasnt even shooting at a guy.

Merek lifts up his pistol while he moves to follow Kun and Poe, taking shots at the pirates while he does. He manages to take one of them to the floor, while he takes the next cover. He twirls about his blaster while he shifts position on that advance.

The first few shots merely primed the pump, and now Callax is awake - or rather his combat instincts are. Behind his helmet's visor the pupils of his blue eyes shudder, transform into broad bars like a goat or cephalopod's, and through the carnage he can see that more pirates are closing in around them. "Hostiles to fore and along the right flank," he calls over the angry buzzing of blaster fire, his voice edged with a flare of barely-disguised glee, and from his position begins to pour fire into the hostiles that make to assault said flank, again slaughtering the injured before they can pour off another shot. A man struck by Poe's blaster fire falls back with a steaming crater where his right eye had been, collapsing to the deck in a heap, and another shot barely misses the woman struck by Kare's latest salvo. Were this a battlefield of old he might be among the rear guard, slipping daggers into the helms of fallen knights. A right angel of dark mercy.

Miri Sakir gets low behind a barrel, hoping belatedly that it's not full of something potentially explosive or flammable. Whoops. She fires off two shots at one of the pirates, but the wily pirate was too fast! No. That's a lie. Miri hit a bulkhead.

"I suspect that'd go against some regulation involving fraternizing with enlisted mercenaries and with Tion involved it'd be downright unseemly," Renek rumbles in a deep and amused tone of voice. The Lieutenant makes a move, and asks for him to follow -- the large soldier is obliged to follow orders. "Aye aye, Sir." A hand is placed on the cover infront of him, and with suprising skill and grace for one his size he vaults over the cover. He pounds across the floor of the hangar after her. On the move, Renek spies one of the pirates get hit several times, but doesn't look down for the count. He shoots from the hip, and scores a hit with terrifyingly deadly accuracy.

Lofty is not a brilliant tactician but he has been in enough firefights to realize they are being enveloped via the right flank. The Talz turns and takes cover in vain behind a crate that isn't quite large enough. He uses his massive bowcaster to fire two quarrels into the advancing enemy, attempting to stop their forward momentum. One of the pirates, Wefaskan Kodd, is blown to pieces in front of his mates by exploding bowcaster bolts.

Elrych notices that the others have shifted their fire towards the new group of attackers coming from the right. "Guys... like... they're still on this side too..." Seeing he is alone in this particular fight and maybe not being too savy at the moment keeps his focus on the Injured Dahn and Bernarda. Maybe he can keep them from shooting his comrades in the back. Thunder sounds again and another stack of crates on the other side of the same pirate go volently flying. "Really... Honestly. it worked before..." Hand goes back to his lightsaber. That's when he sense the returning fire, the blade leaping out and deflecting the bolt from Bernarda.

"SELF DESTRUCT SEQUENCE INITIATED. THIS VESSEL HAS A SELF DESTRUCT SEQUENCE AND WILL EXECUTE IN APPROXIMATELY 20 MINUTES!" The lights in the hangar go dim and klaxon alarms sound. Flashing yellow strobes along the bulkhead suddenly come to life, and everything around them is bathed in the changes in lighting. The blaster fire has changed direction now, and pirates from the FORE, RIGHT, and LEFT side respond in kind to the abuse of the Resistance soldiers.

Dahn's collar is captured by Bernarda and she tugs him back, just as he opens fire toward the Resistance Commandos closing toward them. He screams in pain and Bernarda screams in exertion, trying to drag her partner to safety.

Poe has moved to the left side with several of his comrades. He manages to duck as one blaster bolt strikes his cover, and he peeks around to see Dahn and Bernarda retreating. He fires a shot into Dahn first, catching the man on the side of his head and killing him. Then he adjusts to fire a hammered pair into Bernarda's chest, spilling her backward in an explosion of plasteel and flash frozen carbon frozen pieces. "CLEAN EM UP, RESISTANCE!" Poe screams over the chaos.

Glancing over to Renek, Kare grins a little. "You would not be wrong at all," she says as she starts to pop up only to have fire wise past her helmet not so very far from her head, "Well now you got me distracted," she says to Renek. She braces her shot on the back end of the crates they are using for cover and takes the moment with a solid shot at the one the pirate that nearly had a bolt with her name on it. The next two shots fly wide and there might be a colorful word or two that escapes her. It goes no further than those that are near her as she glance over at Renek and then at the others with her. T'iana does not fall but staggers, the Lieutenant's voice catching as she checks her cell count.

"Heard Commander!" Kare calls back, her voice booming for such a small thing.

Merek moves forward as the fire fight continues through the corvette, then he takes a few shots. The bolt manages to hit Snarh and takes them to the floor, while he takes another shot that hits the wall, then he checks his weapon while he nods to Kun and Poe, looking to some of the others also, as he speaks to Callax, "See anything else?" he asks.

Ektor sprints forward behind Lofty, giving a curse when the big Talz takes a hard shot. Aiming instinctively in that direction he narrowly avoids getting blasted himself. Swinging his blaster back around, he fires another wild pair of shots at whoever just tried to shoot him. "Tryin to shoot me?? Maybe I shoot you back, yeah? But.. better! Fluffy, you good?"

He never stops, does Callax, at this point still firing from the rear - wherever a survivor from a previous attack remains his gun is there, spitting lances of red death to cut whatever threads from which their life still clings. Killing Kare's latest victim with a shot through her lower torso, Callax smoothly turns to the survivor, the joy of battle transfiguring his beautiful face into new and icy glory - eyes wide, lips drawn back in a shark's pearly smile, he fires again. It does not matter that the sole survivor visible is able to avoid it. The fire of battle is in his blood, turning it to steam, driving his body like the engine of death it was designed to someday become.

Miri Sakir spots movement from the corner of her eye and fires two shots. One passes through the pirate's throat, the other through their sternum. Yeah. They're dead. Twenty minutes until kaboom? Wonderful.

"Careful... I can have that effect on Trandoshan women..." Renek drolls wryly to Kare, as he slides into cover -- bringing his rifle over the top.. "They get all hot and bothered... Which is good given they are cold blooded." He notes with a feigned air of scientific accumen. The lasts of the pirates go down, and the self destruct alarms start going off. "Can't say I didn't expect this. Kriffing rats." His gaze wanders across the hangar, looking in the direction of the bridge. He notes a door dead ahead, and a panel to open it. Knowing there is little time to waste, Renek sprints to the door, and punches the panel to open it -- ready to bring his rifle to bear on anything that might be on the other side.

It's all kind of a blur as the rest of the pirates in the bay go down. Elrych looks around with shaded eyes, a piece of durocrete wall falling off near by there a blaster bolt hard ripped into it. Taking a deep breath he deactivates the blade of his saber, the low hum squeeling into silence. "Well at least I didn't kill anyone. I guess that's a plus." THe alarms sounds have him heading towards the bridge though. "You think they would have been more scared of a guy with a Lightsaber..." Of course he isn't scarry. Nothing about the lanky pilot is scary. He could be weilding a scarry weapon and offset it's intented effect just by standing next to it. Blind as a bat in the traditional and not etherial sense, he turns a corner and smacks his head right into an over hanging panel. He stumbles back and groans. "Oweee..." A hand comes up to rub the bump on his head. He trudges on though.

Lofty is struck in the left shoulder by a blaster bolt as he finishes firing his last bowcaster salvo. A shower of sparks and the smell of burnt fur and blubber fill the air, followed by the Talz's enraged roar. Fortunately the shootist and his girlfriend are both dead to the world. Lofty lowers back the crate with a snarl, having difficulty moving his left arm. He points with the bowcaster, saying to Ektor, "They seal the door?" There's a bunch of blowtorches piled next to the door in front of them, beyond the dead pirates.

Bodies lay everywhere, fresh carbon scoring on civilian armor sets, and steam rising up from the wounds. It looks like a damn Mynock trap shoot in here, and the smell of fresh death is easily detected. The hangar bay is devoid of anymore living pirates though, but the alarms continue to sound. "FIFTEEN MINUTES UNTIL SELF DESTRUCTION SEQUENCE IS EXECUTED!"

When Renek hit the console for the door, it simply whined and jerked. Lofty's observation of the torches stacked nearby brings to question the seal half finished running the length of the bottom of the door. It appears, in their haste, the pirates failed at sealing off the corridor to the bridge.

"If you know how to use one, grab a torch and open this kriffin door. If you don't stack. Crowe and Black, you both stack point, right and left respectively. When this thing is fried open, we'll get out of the way and signal the breach." Poe takes up a torch, lights it, hones the flame and holsters his blaster while working on the door.

For just a moment, Callax makes to take up a torch, and then sees out of the considerable span of his peripheral vision just how many are getting to the work. He stacks as ordered instead, then, preparing to fill whatever room lies beyond with fire.

When Renek launches himself suddenly she is up and over the crates after him, glancing briefly at the others. "Crowe.." she says in something of warning as she lifts her pistol, bracing with her left hand under the grip against the curve of her fist as she sweeps back and forth around the rest of the crates to look for surprises. Kare keeps slightly crouched as she moves and when the door doesn't budge she is sweeping up a torch and holstering her gun. She fires up the torch a moment, glancing up at the others and being shorter begins at the bottom of the door and starting upwards slowly, knowing that the heat is going to take some time getting through the layers of durasteel.

"This is going to be tedious...and you really need to explain your fascination with trandoshans, Crowe. I think you have been talking to Tion too often."

"Eh, drek," Ektor mutters, following Lofty's point toward the sealed hatch. "Arright, lucky for us, using a fixing tool to break drek is kinda a specialty of mine.." hurry-hobbling to the hatch, he claims and fires up a torch, setting to work on the opposite side of the hatch from Poe, a d hollering back at Kare without looking away, "HEY. Don't blame ME for some guy's lizard fixation. That's a Sar thing. Not judging, just saying..."

Merek looks to the door, then to some of the torches that are there. He nods a bit to Poe, and he moves to take point with Crowe as he does, his weapon lifted up while the HUD which he wears shows data, "In position," he says.

Yoooo, blowtorches? Miri's face lights up in exactly the way you don't want to see on someone who is about to pick up a blowtorch. She books it over to the pile of blowtorches and gets to work. "Joy, a man has needs, and his apparently involve a cloaca," she says, squinting to protect her eyes as best she can.

Renek is no repairman. He is built for one thing, krif ... killing. Poe orders him to stack point, and he does so without hesitation. He stands next to the door, using the frame as cover for when it opens. His rifle is held up, aimed, and ready to fire. "Of course I got this idea from Tion. Honestly, Tion is my co-pilot. Well... Pilot. All two sets of footprints in the sand, and where there was only one he was carrying me." He growls low and sarcastic, wating for the violence to resume.

Elrych lets the others pass him as they come upon the sealed hatch. He's still rubbing is head. As the others scramble towards the door, grab torches, and attempt to cut through, the Jedi just stands there and blinks looking down at the lightsaber in his hand and then back to the door. "Guys..." He says, "Guys..." There's no answers. It's like he wasn't even there. "Got your six I guess." He turns to face back towards where then came from and waits for them to open the door.

Lofty limps to the door to the bridge's main corridor, but rather than helping repair, the Talz leans against one side of the alcove. He pulls a roll of bandages from his bandolier and starts awkwardly wrapping the incompletely cauterized wound on his left shoulder. His bowcaster is held up by balancing it on his knees.

The signal is given and the hatch opens. Immediately ahead of them is a large, wide corridor that could easily fit a Bantha in. It is tall, wide, and stretches the entire length of the ship. Lights are dimmed here, and along the deck, strewn in random places, are flipped tables and furniture made into hasty cover. In front of them, a stretch of some 10m is a large pair of tables that have been flipped over. They are thick enough to block blaster fire, but the table will only fit 3 soldiers behind it, leaving the rest that follow out in the open.

Scattered out to the FORE from this Resistance group, ten men are entrenched and have spotted the Resistance., immediately flooding the doorway with fire.

Poe is at the door when the latching weld cracks and the motors above lift it with a hydraulic hiss. He was fortunate enough to have seen this, and jumped to one side of the door just as a wall of blaster fire followed. Getting back up, he growls and tugs the blaster free from the holster on his side. Taking charge, he rounds the corner and hammers a pair of shots into the first person he sees. "FOLLOW ME!" He yells, but it stands to reason that the cover ahead can only seat three of them at a time. Poe runs past the threshold and slides into place behind the table up ahead, peeks the corner of his cover and fires a complicated shot into a second man, catching their upper shoulder. "MOVE MOVE!"

Kare is too blinded by her torch, looking too long into the sparks that resulted in the cutting of the door. And down low she's caught in front of a few people. She fumbles with the torch, grunting as she starts to toss it aside when the hail of bolts rains down upon them. She hits the deck suddenly with her pistol still in it's holster to try to get out of the line of fire. This brings her close to Renek and she can feel the heave and tug on her body to help her feet her feet under herself and out of the way.

Slamming into the wall as Poe goes flying in she sighs. "Kriff," she starts and now works at getting her blaster off and taps on Renek's shoulder meaning she will follow.

"Annnnd we're through!" Ektor crows as the hatch is breached, half turning as it topples in, to eye Elrych. "Hey, you should've let me use the laser sword!" His complaint leaves the Tionese pilot exposed in the doorway as the hail of blaster fire erupts from inside. It's dumb luck and very fast reflexes (but mostly dumb luck) that let him scramble back into cover and pull his pistol, muttering, "I just saw the best part of my life flash before my eyes.." A curt nod and he rushes back out after Poe with a howl.

Merek looks to the door when he notices there are pirates there. His focus was on the way he was looking, so he isn't able to assist them in shooting first. When there is a fire fight, he moves to the door while he lifts up his pistol to take two clean shots, killing Jo while he shifts his stance a bit.

Ahhh, the thick of it, the promise of certain death, the smell of blood in the air - tucked behind cover does Callax return fire down the corridor behind the unsealed bulkhead, blue eyes electric with excitement. Alas, though, his volley goes without a victim.

Elrych turns as the doors open and the blaster bolts scream through it. "Ah drek!" He presses the activation button on the Lightsaber still in his hand, the brilliant blue blade squeeling to life once more. The Jedi steps forward into the fire, his blade up and ready to block and bolts he can sense coming near him. Shades turn towards Laser eye and his palm sticks out. Thunder rears as the Pirate Cyborg is lifted up and violently thrown against the bluk head and uncerimoniously dragged across the metal there and dropped back to the ground. The glow of his lightsaber is very prominant in those dark shades of his, the blue washing across his skin.

Renek's pale eyes go wide for a moment as the hatch opens onto a horrifying amount of trouble. As a storm of fire rains down upon his compatriots, Renek moves out of position, and reaches down to grab Kare. His thick hand reach doesn to grab the carry handle on Kare's flightsuit vest, and with a hard tug he pulls her to her feet and towards safety. The former Republic Army soldier looks the pilot over for only the briefest of moments -- checking to make sure she isn't riddled with holes. "On my six, Lieutenant." He growls and then rolls around the corner into the hallway. Renek is crouched low and moving hard towards their enemies. His rifle is up, and he focuses his ire on the Pirate with the flamethrower for a leg. "Kriff you. Kriff you. Kriff you..." Renek snarls like little more then an animal as he fires his rifle.

Miri Sakir turns a bit as the door opens and she feels the force of the hit to her upper shoulder, in the back. At first, she thinks someone shoved her, and she turns angrily, growling, "The rek, man?" Then she smells the singed material and flesh. No time to think about that. They're going in.

The corridor is chocked full of discontent, pain, death, and the smell of burnt metal. The sounds here are deafening, from blaster fire, to the obscene noise of the intercom warning. "TEN MINUTES UNTIL SELF DESTRUCT PROTOCOL IS INITIATED!" Many pirates remain.

Poe having made it to cover safely, tempts fate to target someone else in order to cover his comrades. For his bravery, he's struck in the left shoulder and the momentum of the hit carries him backward to land hard on the deck. He lands in a way that gives him a shot on Flamer-Leg, and he takes it.

The DL-44 blaster bolt sinks into the pirate's chin and exits the top of his head, close-lining them to the ground in a brilliant display of fire power. His subsequent shot misses, but it's taken while he's crawling back to cover, growling.

"I got you, Crowe," Kare looks grateful at the very least, glancing as everyone pours into the room she has to hurry her stride to keep up with the bigger ex-soldier as she moves off to his side. She slows long enough to set her stance and fire upon one cyborg. The shot sears the air and lands hard, sending him down finally and then she is onto the next injured Winnick, Jax.

Her gun swings about and once Crowe passes she shoots, down he goes and she narrows her gaze upon the brother or some form of family member named Jed. This shot missed by a little and then she is hurrying to find cover with the others, watching a bolt nearly collides with her. She can hear herself breathing heavily inside her helmet, heart racing and beating like a drum.

CHARGE, it always ends well. "GET EM," Ektor hollers, taking a light shot to one hip and firing a pair of shots back at his tormentor as he loses balance. Both of them fall down, but the pilot is still yelling and climbing back to his feet. The bad pirate isn't.

Merek shifts to the side as he takes a clean hit upon his torso. It sears through the armor while he winces a bit and he shifts to take his shots back at the room, managing to hit Terryn also.

throwing a few more shots down the hall, Callax pours more fire down the corridor, only to miss his target again. Frustration starts to build in the pale pilot's heart, and his blood burns ever hotter.

Adrenaline surging, Miri narrows her eyes and charges, landing two shots in the gut of one of the gunmen. He goes down. She breathes hard, willing herself to ignore the... yep, there we go, the pain's starting to hit her.

Renek pushes forward. Blaster fire streaks back and forth around the soldier, and he doesn't stop. They have limited time to clear the hallway, and he knows it. Where others fallback to cover he presses. Head down. Teeth gritted together and bared in a snarl. One of the Winnik's, Jed, comes into the view of the soldier, and he brings his rifle up. "DIE!" He roars gutterly, and pulls the trigger. The heavy thump of his blaster rifle going off kicks his shoulder back, and the blaster bolt rips through Jed -- killing him instantly.

Elrych watches, still moving forward, as old Laser-eye clammers up and is shot dead only seconds later. "Well... still technically not on the kill list..." He announces, turning his blade forwards and moving with quickness towards Jom. He deflects a bolt aimed at him, away and into the wall before his blue blade lashes out and severs Jom's head from his body. There is the smell of burning flesh as the body collapses, the head rolling away to come to a stop near Jyr. The sunglasses wearing Jedi turns towards Jur and holds his blade at the ready to deflect any retaliation.

The trading fire is more to favor the Resistance, who sweeps into the corridor like a wave of unrepressed rage. Pirates are getting blasted left and right, and everything designed to defend against the boarding Resistance Commandos has begun to crumble. Men and women who have engaged lie on the deck crying on the verge of death, or they're dead.

Poe peeks over his cover again to find the remaining man who is fleeing. Screaming and firing at the Resistance, the man is attempting to reach the bridge door. Poe takes aim and squeezes off three quick shots in quick succession, but only one hits them in the leg.

When the hallway is finally cleared, Poe is up on his feet and has mantled his table he used for cover and running up the corridor. The Bridge doors open for those who make it there just as quickly as he does, and they find the bridge in utter disrepair. "FIVE MINUTES UNTIL SELF DESTRUCT SEQUENCE IS EXECUTED."

"Fan out, and find my droid something to hack into. All of these damned things are tied into their data core. Tion, get on the horn and get us a U Wing in that hangar prepped to get us the hell out of here."

"Let's go, people, MOVE IT.." Poe kicks over a piece of debris finding a satchel of datasticks.

That last figure falls once because of Poe and is downed in his lingering agony by a bolt from Kare. She does not stop moving, they can all hear the countdown and she sprints forward but is one of the last ones to get to the bridge of those who had booked it ahead. Slipping into the room with her pistol up, she takes time to clean sweep for any other contacts before her pistol lowers to her side. She kicks and pushes things out of her way in a hurry as she works at a console he thinks is on and realizes too late its the reflection of the alert lights overhead.

She moves but lost some time after futzing with a dead console. Glancing side at others she is shoving stray things out of the way and coming up with nothing. "Nothing here!"

Ektor plants his empty hand on the deck, shoving up and getting his feet underneath him. "Ow ow ow ow.." he complains through gritted teeth. "Boots. Flightsuit. ..Locker. I'm up, I'm up!" Pistol in hard, Ektor moves up the corridor as if he had a very, very good reason to move quickly and not get blown up. Out of breath, but in good time, the Tionese nods to Poe, spits on the deck to clear his throat, and signals, <<Black- no, Gold One? Wreck it, it's me, Ektor: get us a U-wing pickup from the corvette in like.. NOW, yeah? Poe even said 'hell' that's how serious this is.>>

Merek shifts back his weapon to its holster, while he takes a moment to draw the ion weapon he keeps with him, adjusting the pack while he nods to the others, looking around a bit for something that will be useful. He kept up with the group while he does, then he pockets that weapon too and also checks a data console on the bridge.

In the back of the formation, Callax lingers, all that genetically-enhanced dexterity frustrated by blood on the deck and the sheer volume of bodies leaking it out. Checking the shot counter on the side of his sidearm, Callax struggles to catch up to the frantic search going on ahead.

Between the stinging in her shoulder and the cluttered hallway, Miri doesn't have a chance to making it to the bridge without becoming a hinderance and she knows it, even before her boot is grasped weakly by a dying pirate, making her stumble. She opts to stay in the corridor, keeping her head on a swivel.

Renek charges up the hallway with the Pilots, and is one of the first onto the bridge. Swiftly, he slings his rifle over his shoulder, and begins to move from console to console -- looking desperately for any equipment that is still operative. "Dead." He murmurs to himself, and steps to the next console. "Dead." Head shake and a growl. "Kriffing dead." He punches the console with an armored gloved hand. "Dead..... Wait..." He slaps the side of a damaged console hard, and it flickers to life. "We've got a live one here. Come on flyboys... Stop this ship from blowing up. Can anyone slice this computer?" The soldier steps back, and looks nervously to the gathered pilots.

Elrych doesn't have time to contimplate the life he just took. He'd meditate on it later. He flet some serious bad vibes from that pirate though. A reall slimo, you know? He runs, extinguishing the blade once more and even putting the saber back onto his belt. His robes flow as he sprints, stopping at the bridge. He glances around, not seeing much of anything helpful. "I mean... I can lift someone across the bridge if that'll help?" Offering his powers if it'll get them what they need. "If angori was here, she could. Maybe Nova or Sap but I don't think I know enough."

<<"Understood, Gold Leader. We have a U Wing landing now.">>

Poe shoulders the satchel and taps Comm-it, the ID-10 droid he'd brought along for the ride. The floating automaton unclamps from the harness Poe is wearing and begins to levitate in place, turning to the sound of its own mechanical warbling. It looks to Poe, who motions to Renek. "Over there, buddy. Log in and see what you can find."

Comm-It moves with a purpose, and extends one of its long arms to begin violating the computer terminal. The intercom crackles again. "TWO MINUTES UNTIL SELF DESTRUCT SEQUENCE IS EXECUTED!"

With the successful slicing, Comm-It whirrs in binary, indicating it had a sizable sum of data. It disconnects from the console, thanking Merek for his contribution, then returns to Poe's back just as the Commander is pointing down the corridor they came from. "CROWE, KUN.. ON POINT. Rest of you, fall in behind them. Get to our ride, and let's get the HELL outta here!"

Pistol still in hand as the others go to slicing, Kare watches, looking up at those waiting just as apprehensively as she is. When they disconnect she is edging towards the door to the bridge and then hears the call. "Copy Commander," She says and glances to the ex-soldier. "WE got this trandoshan lover," she says and she take off, her boots beating out a pattern on the durasteel as she whips down the corridor at a breakneck speed.

Her gun bobs before her, outstretches and ready at a downward angle. Right hand on the grip and the other below it to hold it steady. No contacts is good news as she breaks out into the hangar, her breath now ringing in her ears as she heads for the U-wing and takes up a defensive position to offer cover for those behind them should anyone else decide to pay them a visit.

"Eh, drek.. again with the running?" Ektor mutters, speed-hobbling back the way they came. He's still somewhere in the middle of the pack, hollering at the others with exhausted profanity to "Move rekkin- kriff... faster!" Crashing onto the U-wing's deck plates more so than sitting down, he mutters at Kare between heaving breaths, "Trandoshan... lover... sounds. Awful. ...next time? 'Lizard lover'. ....Wreck me, gotta.. think of everything.. Round here."

Merek assists with the data, and he nods a bit to the droid. When it's complete, he moves then with the others, though with all he put into getting into the bridge, he doesn't have the same skill in escaping the place.

Well you don't have to tell Callie twice.

As the Resistance troops and pilots come barreling back down the hall, the pale killer pirouettes on one foot and attempts to leap over another corpse - and trips right over, catching himself on one hand and managing only barely to keep from eating deck. "I really need to do more strength exercises," he mutters to himself in his bitchy-cheerleader way, and tries to get back on course to not a.) be annihilated by a reactor explosion or b.) be crushed beneath the bootheels of his fellows.

That hand on Miri's ankle grips tighter and she stumbles, almost dropping her blaster. She swears loudly, regaining her footing abd booking it down the corridor and onto the U-wing. "I'll stick to mammals, thanks," she groans, pulling her helmet off and thudding her head back against the bulkhead of the ship, dark hair plastered to her head.

Renek doesn't need any further urging from Poe, and as soon as the order is given he departs the bridge. He sprints for the hangar bay, his booted feet slapping the floor as quickly as drummer rolling drum. The old soldier leaps over bodies, dodges around makeshift cover, or flatout just runs through it. Renek is nervous enough about the self destruct sequence that he doesn't even spare time to quip with Kare or Ektor on their way out. Seeing the waiting U-Wing, he dives into it, and then quickly scrambles into a seat. "Tion... This is the moment where you are that single set of footprints in the sand for us..." He says dryly.

Elrych has trouble running the second time as the orders to get the hell out of dodge come. "But it would have been a good adition to the fleet!" Damn it all, oh well. He's stumbling a bit through the bodies and debris they left behind but is doing remarkably better then others. He stops to help where he can before boarding the U-wing. He takes a seat and sighs, perhaps meditating on the ride home.

Poe is the last one to the U-Wing, and he motions on board, helping any that struggle. A final look is paid to what lays behind them, then he's climbing on board and punching the control to slide the air-sealing door shut. "PUNCH IT!" He screams, latching ahold of the straps above as the pilot complies and shoves the thruster lever forward. Engine outputs expand at once, just as the ship begins its final countdown. The U-Wing clears the shield barrier as the first explosions short circuit the engines of the corvette. Soundless flames stretch the length of the vessel until it is consumed in a massive explosion that expands even further with a white ring of concussive energy.

The U-Wing speeds away, angling up toward the Valor that is high above the destruction of the disabled corvette. The vessel shakes violently, everyone inside bouncing a bit and shaking to the point of possibly feeling it in their stomachs, but they make it to the Valor and jump just after the Corvette flashes forward, disappearing in a streak of blue into hyperspace. Just as soon as they arrived, Black Squadron disappears like a Ghost, leaving nothing but anguish and discontent in their wake.
