Revenge of the Silooth: Part One

OOC Date: May 19, 2020
Location: Kalsunor
Participants: Chesille Sabrond and Marzanna

It was not fun. Or it might be fun to someone who has a very poor sense of humor. A few of the teams had been deployed to search ruins and to bring back any sightings of Silooth. Given the last encounter that they had here, it was something that the troops would definitely be looking for. Captain Sabrond had the opportunity to go planet side for once! They might be able to use her for helping to navigate the terrain and direct people where to go looking. It's not the most glamorous of jobs at the moment, but every little thing helps.

Chesille Sabrond kicks up dust with heel of her boot, sending the loose slit across the desert floor. She shoots a disapproving look to her nearby guard, clearly not enjoying the the vacation in the ruins. Though the captain isn't about to say anything, it's apparent that she doesn't really care to be on the surface of the planet, ruins for shade or not. "Are we on schedule?" Her voice calls to a nearby yeoman, wanting a report on the excavation's progress.

The crimson armored troopers are all doing things, trying to uncover what lies beneath the dusty crust of the planet. Hopefully there was something good going on around here. One of the yeoman give a look up and straightens when he realizes who is talking to him, "Yes ma'am! We're right on schedule. We've found a few things to take back to the research labs already." he salutes at the end of that and decides that he's better to be shutting up now and not speak too much.

Up on the ridge that's a couple hundred yards out there is a single crimson armored figure that is seeming to keep watch. Just in case they had a visit from a Silooth...or fifty. The difference between this one and the other minions is the cape that hangs from the pauldrons of the armor and blows in the wind. Black against the otherwise blue sky.

An otherwise bored Captain walks over to the crimson-red trooper, feeling it might be best that he /does/ speak up a bit more. "Show me what we've found." There's no please, no thank you, just a directive to present the artifacts. "And explain why we have decided to bring these relics back to the labs." Although her delivery is cold and calculated, the hints of interest begin to peek through as her body language loosens up. "Don't leave out the mundane."

The trooper straightens back up and there's another salute, "Ma'am." he states. "We're trying to find whatever left over data we can from when the Sith were here and used to train the Silooth." he explains. "They are these huge bugs that were trained by the Sith a long time ago, right now they are just running around untrained and...well, they like to eat people." he whispers to her. "We've got a few things going on planet side, but, this is what the Lady in Red up there wants us looking for at the moment so that we can help with hopefully holding them off when we go further into caverns and other places for exploring." he states. "Since it's getting darker we'll probably head back soon given those things come out more at night." he admits. Was he scared?

Absolutely.

"No, no." Sabrond corrects, not caring about a mission briefing. She wants to see cold hard relics. "The artifacts. I want to see the relics." Her eyes linger about the dusty floor, wondering if there is actually something to show-and-tell. "The physical objects you plan on sending back to the labs." The woman is the farthest thing from a scientist, more just an intimidating figurehead. And she needs to be impressed!

The trooper is just ready to comment when there is the far off sound of a call:

'Reeeeeeeeeeee!'

Well, that's not a sound that the humans and others that are with them would make. But the trooper doesn't SEE anything. And the person with the glowstick hasn't started hacking into anything yet. One of them gives a look to Chesille, "Captain, we found just a few things earlier, mainly broken household items, but it means we're going in the right direction of things." the new one states.

Then a few moments later there is a flurry of activity as the men find something. It's a book of some kind from the looks of it. It's small, like a journal, but seems to be hand bound. Might be a personal journal?

Although the sound of a far call is heard, Sabrond doesn't make any moves in panic...everyone else around her seems content with their position, so, she plays it off like normal, not seeming concerned. The woman feels like she is talking to a brick wall. "I said...that I wanted to see relics. And to not spare me the mundane, so, if you have only found /broken/ household items...I want to see broken household items." The captain is clearly beginning to get irritated. At least she's not bored.

The other troopers appear antsy as the lead minion just continues talking. He does give the hand motion for the others to bring stuff over, "Ah, sorry about that. Here is the stuff from today." he states. "And bring us that book, just don't stand there with it, not like you can read anyways." he tells the one holding it.

Captain Sabrond is greeted with broken pottery, splinters of wood and other curious things. Plus the leathery journal when it is brought over to her.

Meanwhile, up on the ridge the figure moves, starting to head back down towards the group that was digging, <<We've got a group incoming and it's way too big for just us, so, lets get on the drop ship and head back. We've done enough searching for the day.>> Marzanna states over the comms.

The Captain allows the troopers to present her a buffet of artifacts, letting her fingers and eyes roam over the busted pieces of pottery and split sections of wood. "Things from a different time." She announces, not meaning much other than...this isn't all that interesting, but I don't disapprove.

"We're being called back to the dropship." A trooper announces, trying to catch Sabrond's attention. "Hostile fauna on its way."

The naval officer lets out an exacerbated sigh. Deep down she appreciates the call to get off the dust ball and put her feet on the deck of a ship in orbit...a ship without all sorts of beetles running about.

The 'Reeee!' that the Silooth's make is getting closer, the cacophonous noise scratches at the ears when they get into big groups, so it's probably good that they decided to get out of the way. The group makes it back to the drop ship without issues and they have a new thing to study, or well...it's written in another language so someone is going to have to decode it first, then they can read it. For once, no one became the snack of a big bug. This was a small miracle given other trips.

Marzanna doesn't press the troops about what was found, they'd offload it all on her when it was time as it was and she wanted to let them see about things first. For now, she was just going to nap during their flight back to Dromund.
