See What Had Happened: Head Edition

OOC Date: August 9, 2018
Location: Tatooine
Participants: Naelyn, Trillian Taim, Vasani, Sapphira Solari, Darius Wildes

See what had happened was...

Naelyn had been entertaining late into the night, dancing on tables, throwing back shots. Worming his way into the hearts, livers, and failing kidneys of the haggard, gritty, and dirty patrons of the local cantina. It started innocently enough, pretending to drink, swaying, sitting in laps. Not even caring that most of the people were either too old or too haggard to even really see clearly or even have all of their teeth. He was having fun.

Then, behind the building...he saw a heavily armed alien creature dragging a man behind him in a net, the man appearing to be stunned unconscious. Apparently that was somebody's brother and Nae is pocket sized, so during a snog and snoop they found themselves on the edge of town, peering over a dune and watching the stunned man join 5 others in what seems to be an 'easy' way to trap prisoners. That is, 6 healthy looking men with all of their teeth buried up to their necks in sand. 3 thuggish looking aliens standing guard, waiting for their transport.

So who do you call, to the rescue. Well. Griri the Snog Partner was too drunk and hungover to be useful. So, Naelyn sent the following message to Hex. 'Staked out at the edge of town, please bring Mouthwash. And my travel bag. Also, need help unburying some treasure'. However, for some reason..he probably thought it was just Naelyn spent the night in a spacer's transport or something, so the task may have been passed off to another Defiance member.

Somehow between then, and now...Naelyn is laying on his side, at the feet of one of the 3 Alien Guards, allowing him to pet through his hair which he has unbound and the 6 guys are still buried up to their neck.

...and on today's forecast? Possible Sandstorms.

Trillian looks down at the cryptic message that had been forwarded to her through the DefianceCord messaging app on her commlink from Hex. It was vague, to say the least... something something Naelyn... something something overnight bag... something something mouthwash. Trillian shrugs, and hefts the collection of overnight bag, mouthwash, sewing kit, nail polish and nail polish remover, back-up outfit and sensible shoes that she had put together based on the instructions, and... Vasani in tow, ventured out to find Naelyn.

"I'm telling you, Ve... the coordinates that we were given say... here-ish... I think..." Trillian shakes her datapad, affected by the ubiquitous sand YET AGAIN. It burbles at her and then starts re-rendering the map for the third time.

Vasani had heard some vague mentions of treasure and mouth wash and decided this would totally be the job for her. "I mean like- what kinda treasure requires MOUTH WASH unless we're eatin' it, right?" She says to Trillian as they approach their given coordinates. "And Naelyn's gonna be there so it's gotta be interesting, he always seems so cool." She says, taking a look at her datapad and then up again. "How do we know if we've found it? Everything just looks like the same sand 'round here..." She mumbles, looking to Trillian for assistance.

Sapphira Yavok, who the fuck is that? Well it's someone who apparently still has a line in with Defiance, somewhere. Just as Trillian was getting word to go to Tattoine, so too was Sapphira looking to find out just where Trillian happened to be. Tattoine, okay, fine. She can surprise her friend on Tattoine. Even if it is, like, the absolute worst place. Dressed in her fiber armor jumpsuit, and with a light-fabric cowl hood covering her hair and goggles covering her eyes, she's been dropped off outside of the town by one of the transports. Bag over one shoulder, she began to move through town, peeking here or there or talking to a few people. She didn't hear about Trillian. She DID hear about a half-Sephi dancing on laps and tables. That's as good as a beacon. She's trudging along the outside of town now, seeking that shortcut to the last possible bar where Naelyn might have hopped to. Maybe some of what's going to happen will catch her eye. Who knows.

So through sand, and hot sand, and Jawas looking at them like they are crazy...the travelers do indeed make it to the coordinates. The coordinates are located right on the other side of the large dune. In order to see over the dune to catch sight of Naelyn, the guards and the impromptu head garden? One has to climb to the top of it. Its that time of night that is slowly bleeding into morning, so its not super well lit. Then they have to get down the dune to reach Naelyn, the guards, and the head garden. But the coordinates are good, as evidenced by an elegantly embroidered light brown and green veil that has been secured to a hair brush and buried to stick out of the ground. A marker that, Naelyn was there.

Meanwhile, there's the crackling of messages being received over whatever comms, one of Nae's new friends is still playing with his damn hair while the others are semi-dosing off, their backs to the dune that the 'rescue party' are on the other side of.

Trillian stares at the grainy map on her datapad again and points at the large sand dune. "OK. If I'm reading this right... Naelyn should be right on the other side of that sand dune. Easy, right?" Trillian flashes a grin at her azure companion and walks towards the dune. She takes a few steps up the dune before her leg suddenly sinks in to her thigh and she falls face forward into the sand, sputtering and shouting. "Ve! Help!" she cries, flailing around in the sand.

Vasani sends a quick message over to Darius as the two of them approach the sand dune. Hex did say to let people know where you were, after all, and two thirds of their crew are in the middle of no where now. She slides it into her pocket just as Trillian trips into the sand. "Shhh!!" Vasani whispers to her, rushing over to help. Except when Vasani gets there to try and help Trillian out of the sand she just falls on top of her. Huge piles of dry sand are really hard to get your grip on, okay? and every time she tries to stand back up she seems to loose her footing under her as the sand slides around.

It's Trillian's shout that catches Sapphira's attention. She's just trudging along through the sand, her goggles pulled up away from her eyes, looking for yet another bar that Naelyn could be partying at. But that shout ... well, that's not good. And if Defiance and here and there's shouting, chances are those two facts are SOMEHOW RELATED. No idea where Sapphira could get that idea from. Nope, none. She pulls the goggles down over her face and moves toward the sound, able to find her footing moving up the dune rather easily. As she nears the crest, she keeps low, the point where she's crawling when she reaches the top, barely peeking her head over to watch the commotion and try to figure out, in the half-light of the morning, just what the hell is going on.

"You're gonna get sand EVERYWHERE if I just let you roll around Sixer Niner." Darius says humming to himself as he carries the BB series droid Lockheed. "Now, I didn't really read it but I assume Ve's message was something about her and Trillian rolling around together in sand. Maybe they are sun bathing?" The droid beeps and Darius nods, though he has no idea what it is saying. Darius can't speak binary. "Yeah good point." And then a familiar yelp is heard and Darius adjust himself towards the location, and starts to hike up one of the dunes. "This way I guess."

The yelling does draw some attention, with the Alien's looking up and around them, looking behind at the dune and babbling to one another. The awake one tries to get the dozing off one's attention. They do start to stand up and look around to see what direction the sound may be coming from. Naelyn pushes himself up to a seated position, hair tumbling down around his shoulders and he exhales softly, narrowing his eyes towards the direction of the Dune.

The Aliens are now squabbling over a pair of space binoculars though, one single pair and one of the Aliens, all green and scaley and proud of himself. He uses it to start scanning the dune and there are two people he can see. Trillian and Darius, and he frowns a bit...passing the binoculars over to one of his companions. They do not see Vasani and Sapphira.

Trillian flails in the sand... that stuff gets EVERYWHERE. She feels it trickle down the inside of her boot, her toes squelching uncomfortably as the grains of fine sand fill up all the available space. With a great deal of contortioning and clawing, and with Vasani pulling on her, she's finally able to extricate her leg. "Oh god... it's... it's everywhere..." she moans, sitting down and undoing the laces to her boot to take her foot out and dump out the sand. "Honestly, Ve. I mean... great for exfoliation, I get it... but I'm starting to get tired of it." Trillian grumps and empties out a small pile of sand from her boot.

"Trust me, Trilly. I get it. I've had enough sand fer a lifetime." Vasani sits next to Trillian as she empties her boot before squinting her eyes and trying to get a look around. "Yep... Lotsa sand." She says, not seeing anything at all. "Maybe we should try ta climb ta the top a this pile? Here- just-" Vasani crawls on her hands and knees on the sand, hoping that will help keep her balance better and hopefully not fall over again.

What the actual fuck? Did Naelyn really call everyone here for a party (whoever everyone is, as Sapphira doesn't know any of Naelyn's compatriots, or those with Trillian)? But that doesn't seem right, what with binoculars being argued over and the like. Binoculars, those would be good to have right now. Mental note made to go shopping later, Sapphira slips back over the side of the dune, moving low around the edge. She always keeps the peak of the dunes between herself, Naelyn's aliens, and Trillian's group. She'll finally come around when she's positioned to one side of the valley o'aliens, leaving Trillian's group on the far side. The aliens are between her and Trilly's group, for lack of a better way for me to figure out how to type this out. From there, she watches, trying to figure out just what, by the stars above, is going on. At least it's good practice, right?

And who is to pay attention to some mirages in the sun when you got two beautiful ladies in your sight? Not Darius! Coming up to the top of the dune he looks down and sees Trillian emptying a boot and Vasani walking up towards him. "My darlings!" He says with a wide smile, and lets Lockheed fall to the ground and then throws himself down the dune. Rolling and rolling does he go, until he gets to Trillian and maybe or maybe not knocking Vasani over on the way. "Sand! Don't you just love it? So soft, warm, I feel like I'm being hugged by the planet." A pause. "What we up to? I didn't read the message. I felt like I wanted a surprise."

This...is not what Naelyn had in mind when he called Hex to come and find him. It was supposed to be a quick wham, bam, boom, take out the guards, unbury the prisoners, go home. But slowly, slowly the Sephi hybrid realizes that his rescue party is on the dune and it is probably not, Hex. The Aliens, however keep passing the binoculars to each other like '...wtf' and they are wheezing in a way that might be laughing as 2 of them start approaching the dune, drawing their blasters and nets. The third, is distracted by a certain Sephi hybrid who has come up beside him, idly starting to circle him like he is a living stripper pole, and then reaching out to wrap his arms around his neck, and pull his legs up to wrap around the creature's waist, pouting and murmuring softly about being ignored. Distraction Technique #456.

MEANWHILE. That sand storm is still on the forcast. And the heads sticking up out of the sand are still there.

Trillian finally empties her boot and pulls it back on her foot, wiggling her toes as she does so. Sighing with relief, she peers up at the sky, looking off in the distance. Staring at the horizon, she gets a shiver as she eyes the dark looking clouds. "... hm... that doesn't look great..." she murmurs under her breath. As she turns, her face brightens as she spots Darius rolling down the dunes followed by Lockheed. "Darius! Lockheed!" she calls out happily, but then noticing movement at the bottom of the hill. "... oh. There are people down there..." she says, pointing behind Darius.

"Theres people where?" Vasani turns back asking toward Trillian as she climbs up the dune, totally clueless to the fact that she's climbing TOWARD the people below. "I just see sand..." She takes a moment to look around, sending her lekku flopping to either side as she turns her head. "Dare come on! We're gonna find Naelyn's burried treasure!!" She yells back again. "Get up here you guys!!"

Oh, well that. That rather solves it. Heads in the sand, Naelyn's look of annoyance, the approaching storm, and now the Aliens menacingly walking toward that sweet, innocent pile of burning trash over there. Yeah, that's about right. Sapphira reaches behind her and draws out the sleek Defender, holding the weapon close while she gets the lay of the land. Counting baddies, trying to figure out where they are, where they're going. She takes a glance down at the weapon, weighing it in her hand. "Ok, let's see if you're as good as he says you are," she whispers to the gun. Sapphira ninja snek pew pew.

Darius smirks. "People? Naelyn's burried treasure?" He gets up and starts to dust the sand off of himself, it is everywhere. "Is it some kind of party-" Then Darius cuts himself off as his eyes narrow focusing on a few aliens approaching them armed and dangeorus. Also nets. Nets in the desert? Darius assumes they ain't fishing for food. He isn't right near Vasani so he steps infront of Trillian sliding out his blaster. "Remember training yeah? You shoot what I shoot." He whispers, twirling out his blaster pistol and then looks towards Vasani. "Ve! Back here now!"

Okay, there's quite a few ways this could go. The Aliens (2 of them) are standing in front of Darius, Vasani, and Trillian. Then hold up their blasters and grunt, growl and chitter at them. Nodding over towards where the head garden is. Its clear 'Hands up, come with us'.

Naelyn is sucking face with Alien #3. Well, the Alien is sucking his face, he's just riding along so to speak, maneuvering so he can look over the ALien's shoulder at the dune and he just shakes his head slowly. Hopefully, they can take care of 2 of them. That storm is rolling closer and closer.

Trillian nervously fingers the blaster on her holster. Firing at the drones in the cargo bay is one thing... firing at live people? Well... Trillian has only done that once before... and was driving sideways in a hoverskiff at the time. This... this is different. Darius has that... I'm going to murder something... look on his face, and Trillian swallows nervously, sliding back the catch on the pistol and drawing it up in one smooth movement, JUST LIKE DARIUS TAUGHT HER TO... the pistol barks once, barrel skittering around as Trillian nearly drops the blaster. "Oh god, I'm sorry!" she calls out, grabbing the gun with both hands and accidentally discharging it again. Red bolts streak into the sand dune, instantly turning the loose sand into a streak of black glass. "... SORRY!" Trillian cries out again.

"Come back?" Vasani turns her head back toward Darius before crawling and skittering her way through the sand back to him. "Why?" She asks him, still completely oblivous, though she does see that Darius and Trillian have their blasters out so she takes hers out as well in preparation before noticing the approaching aliens.

Shots fired, shots fired. Sapphira probably should have been a little quicker about all this, instead of just skulking among the dunes. Ah well. Live and learn, one hopes. No longer needing to be quiet or snek-y, Sapphira is up over the lip of the dune and sliding down to the flat of the valley she was spying on so recently. The D.D.C. Defender is up and at the ready. "Hands off my man!" she shouts to the face-sucking alien that has Naelyn all but romantically pinned. When the alien starts to rise, she'll open fire. Granted, all this may look rather strange to Naelyn, considering that Sapphira's red hair is covered by the cowl, and half her face blocked by the goggles. Let's just hope the others don't take her for a threat, right?

Well, looks like there is a bit of murdering to do. Darius totally at a witty come back to the thugs that told them to hold their hands up. But as Trillian just starts shooting and apologizing he can't help but laugh. "Yeah, so SORRY" He starts firing off a shot into the chest of one of them. "That you guys are so STUPID." Another shot. "To try and point blasters at ME." Another bolt fired. "And MINE."

The sand mostly muffles all the blaster noise, swallowing up the echos of the pews. The Aliens, who had been nicely asking the gang to come and get buried are taken by surprise. First by Trillian missing so spectacularly, the blaster fire going all willy nilly and they just chitter and look at each other like 'dude, are you seeing this'. Then when they turn back to the group and raise their weapons. Alien 1, two shots and he drops to the sand and rolls down the dune. Alien 2, falls to the sound, shakily raising his blaster again to fire at Darius, shooting shakily.

Meanwhile, down in the valley with the third Alien, Sapphira and Naelyn. Naelyn recognizes the voice and he is quick unwrapping his legs from around Alien 3 and rolling over out of the way gracefully in time for her to get off those shots, which take the Alien by surprise as he falls over. Tented trousers and stupid expression on his face.

The Sephi Hybrid runs his fingers through his hair and tosses it over his shoulder as he wipes at his mouth and gets to his feet Hands on his hips he is looking over to Sapphira, eyebrows raising. "I'll kiss you when its over lovely." He purrs softly before running over to the heads in the head garden, dropping to his knees beside one to start digging.

Trillian yelps, as she fumbles with her blaster. OK, remember what Darius told you... elbows slightly bent... breathe in, breathe out... slow and steady. Let the target come to you... She pulls the trigger on the blaster, tracking the movement as the alien fires at Darius. An azure bolt sizzles through the air, electricity crackling as slams into the alien, bolts cascading over his armor. A distinct smell of cooking fills the air and Trillian yelps in surprise. "Oh god... did I... I'm... oh... is that what this switch is?" she muses, toggling a switch back and forth. The blaster in her hand makes several clicking and whining noises. "Darius, what does this toggle do again?" she calls out.

"You did it Trilly!" Vasani cheers for a moment before she stands up and shoots that guy that Trillian stunned to the ground, not seeming to care too much about it. More of her attention is on Trillian and her fantastic shooting. "You did it!! You shot a guy!! You protected Darius!!" She jumps up and down in the sand, which probably sends a bunch of sand flying and hopefully not hitting anyone in the face. "So uh... who were those guys? We should probly go see what they were protectin'... OH THE BURIED TREASURE!!" She realizes and climbs over the dune to see.... not a buried treasure but a bunch of buried people? She tilts her head in confusion, silently taking in the scene before her.

"Missed you too," Sapphira tells Naelyn as he moves to start digging. She watches him, taking a few steps past so she can peer at the others. Seeing that they're doing alright, she holsters her weapon behind her back and turns toward where Naelyn is digging at a head. She finds a head too, and begins to dig. "I trust there's a very interesting story behind all of this," she notes, in a question-that's-not-a-question-but-that-invites-comment sort of thing. Dig dig dig. For now, she keeps her cowl covering her hair and her goggles on because whoah. "That sandstorm's getting awful close," she points out. Helpfully obvious, this one.

Darius doesn't yet holster his blaster, and just smirks. "Toggle is the difference between if someone is gonna dream for a night or dream forever, Silk. " Then a red bolt flies into the body of the one Trillian stun or killed? From Vasani's Dl-44. Welp, whatevet the case was before Vasani made sure they were dead now. "And, well, looks like they are dreaming forever. But yes, I agree with Spots. Good job darling. " The Captain turns towards Trillian pinches the bottom of her chin and gives her a soft kiss. So romantic. A reward for her murdering. "But, yeah buried treasure? Is that why we are here?" He starts stalking up towards Vasani and takes in the scene, and then more importantly the storm. "Is that a SANDSTORM? I've never been in one of those before! Why are those people making sand castles down there at a time like this?"

So the Aliens are dead, bleeding and sizzling and if left long enough they will probably be buried by the sand. With that out of the way, the Sandstorm is looming and on its way.

Naelyn is going to have to re-do his nails, so much work but he's digging in the sand and reaching in to try to tug and guide the man who is there out, as the people start to wake up, panicked and struggling. The hybrid just bows his head to Sapphira with a small nod. "We'll have about 10 minutes I believe..." He looks over towards Darius, Vasani, and Trill and he waves an arm slightly. "COME HELP!"

"Uh Dare... I don't think those are sand castles!" Vasani says to Darius, but she's already starting to run down toward the people before she's done speaking. She jumps in by one of the heads and starts digging around one of the heads. She makes sure to start digging near the front of the person's face so she can get as much sand away from their nose and mouth as possible and make it easier for them to breathe. "Yer gunna be okay!" She says to the person, but for the most part she's gone really quiet as she focuses on digging them out and pulling them out of the sand. "Of course we do," Sapphira notes, as she finally gets the first one cleared enough where the man can kick and claw himself free the rest of the way. She crawls to the next, and once more begins digging. They'll all have bloody fingers by the end of it. "You know, I was just hoping we could catch up, grab a drink, maybe play some Sabbecc..." she notes. "Yet somehow I'm not surprised." As she works, she pauses to give Naelyn a wide grin, before turning her head to the newly approached. She looks over Darius and Vasani. "Hello there," she says, pleasantly enough. As if they were just meeting on the street, not digging heads out of the sand while a sandstorm approaches…

Trillian tumbles down the dunes towards Naelyn and the hooded figure. "Oh god... why... why are there people buried in the sand here?" She falls to her knees to help the hooded figure dig, her fingers working into the fine sand and flinging it behind her. She finally gets an arm free and starts tugging on it, hauling with all her might. "Oh god... you're heavy. This is..." she strains again, and then looks over. "Sapphira, give me a hand." She tugs for a minute longer and then suddenly drops the arm. "Wait..." Trillian's mouth gapes open and she gawks at the hooded figure. "SAPPHIRA?"

Collectively...everyone is helping the poor unfortunate drunk and now hung over fools who had been clubbed and stunned and dragged out to the desert. Some are helping more than others, the hung over victims are realizing they are being saved and they are all human. Naelyn rolls his shoulders and is currently kneeling and brushing sand and tears off of someone's face, leaning forward to kiss their forehead and offer softly. "Your brother is so worried about you darling." Then he's pulling back and looking around, exhaling softly before looking back to Sapphira. "We can get something to drink after we get back to the city." He whistles sharply, hands shakily moving back to secure his hair back and out of his face with a deft twist of a hairpin. "C'mon, we'll take shelter in those caves, and then head back to the city after that..." A long pause. "Did anybody...bring my...bag..." Blink Blink. Blink Blink BLink. But he's shielding his eyes with his hand and peering off into the distance. "N-nevermind, lets get to those caves." He points onwards towards the caves and starts pushing and tugging at people. "Lets move people..." And his make-up, is still on point.

So...that's what had happened...
