Slave rescue on Nal Hutta

OOC Date: July 7, 2016
Location: Nal Hutta
Participants: Kasia Ciph, Oriana, Tess Ul'Datha, and Hex

The short story: Shortly after the terrorist attack on Nal Hutta's capital city, opportunity is prime for the acquisition of some unattended 'property'. Hex and Oriana fail at swamp. Tess has an itchy trigger finger. Kasia demonstrates why you bring someone with Diplomacy on these things.

The long story:

Nal Hutta is having a bad week. Life is rough when your capital city gets punked real hard by a surprise terrorist superweapon that manages to get both the Republic and the Hutt lords pissing themselves; a weapon that the First Order and Resistance are probably both eyeing with grabby hands if neither of them were directly responsible for it. If the Resistance was, however, that's above the clearance of anyone currently aboard the HWK-290 'Quickdraw,' a ship Hex obtained by means that are unclear, and that he hopefully kept his pants on for. Luka was involved though, so who knows.

ANYWAY. Kasia is flying the ship from the short hop from Nar Shaddaa to Nal Hutta, a task made difficult by the amount of traffic suddenly in chaos between the planet and its moon. Citizens are fleeing Nal Hutta, while aid - and opportunists - are pouring into the destabilized capital city. So she's got her hands full with the traffic, and with the fact that Hex is back-seat driving, tense and anxious. "Outside the city. Not in the thick of it. The coordinates for the landing spot are pre-loaded," he says, for like the fourth time. "It used to be a private landing field but it's abandoned now, so you'll have to hit the mark or you'll end up in the swamp, ka? Don't fly my ship into the swamp. The coordinates are loaded."

Oriana has tagged along for this mission. People need help, she is there. Rifle in one hand vibrosword with her to in case trouble comes she is ready. Watching Kasia fly for a moment her gaze moves to Hex. "Take a breath there brother, it'll be fine. Kasia is a fine pilot." A reassuring smile is givrn.

Kasia is quiet as she flies, she's not accustomed to flying in quite this much chaos, but she manages well enough that they're not a twisted ball of wreckage and flames, so that's good. "I know they're loaded." The words are terse, she doesn't even glance at him when she says it. "I--" Pause, grimace. "Do I tell you not to fly my ships into places?" Snip snip. She's just tense, not really annoyed, this has been one of her more stressful piloting experiences to date. Not THE most, that first place spot is still held by the lessons that Stavros gave her, but this is a solid second place.

"No, but if I was flying it into a swamp, you could tell me not to, because you wouldn't want me to /fly it into a swamp/," Hex replies to Kasia, as tension gnaws at them both. Oriana can now attest that there is nothing more awesome than hanging out with your bickering friends. They've done this to Nym too, it's a thing! The landing is tricky, and for a minute, it does look like they're going to end up in the swamp. "Ryma'at!!" Hex spazzes, but Kasia orients the ship correctly right at the last moment, and they touch down nice as pie onto a landing pad. Once upon a time, maybe back in the Clone Wars days, this was part of a nice villa, but everything is slowly sinking into the marshes of Nal Hutta, now. "Alright. Ka. Okay. We're here," Hex remembers to breathe again. "Gonna have to get our feet wet a little, but the good news is that it's out of sight, out of mind, and although it's a short walk to the city, nobody else is here. It's just... not dry." At no point did he mention to either of them that there was a swamp excursion on foot involved here, but apparently, there is.

With a strange mixture of envy and amusement Oriana listens to them bicker. It's nothing to her, it's normal and people bicker. In fact the envy comes from the fact that they are both comfrtable enough too. "You two are way to cute." She says to them. Unbuckling and standing, stretching a little she nods. "I'll lead us out first, in case there is trouble." And she she'd turn to disembark.

"I'm not going to land in the swamp!" Kasia insists in annoyance, but then, oh shit. Is she? She's really going to feel bad if she lands in the swamp, but also annoyed. It would definitely be a fight afterward. Oh no, oh no, oh hello swamp-- but no. She manages to get them onto dry land, and then immediately slump back into the pilot seat as her whole body turns to jello. "We have to get our feet wet?" She really should have seen this coming, this is why she needs to plan their adventures, and their vacations, and their meals. It's safer that way, and there are fewer insects. "Just give me a minute, and then I can go."

Hex's lekku go slack with relief as they don't end up in the swamp, and he takes a moment to remember to breathe again as Kasia takes a similar moment to reconstitute her jello-self. "You'll dry, nonna," he assures her with a confidence that is affectionate and annoying all at once. "Meet you at the ramp." Then it's aft through the ship, and when the ramp lowers, sweltering humidity pours into the freighter. It's like walking into a sauna, a sauna that smells like damp earth, burning city, and rotting vegetation. It's just stellar. "Once we get out of the swamp, Kasia knows where to go," Hex fills Oriana in on the plan as their pilot powers down the ship and reconsiders her life choices. "We're hitting a palace we know's been partially but not fully destroyed, and where there is a hutt palace, there are slaves. But they might -" Hex hesitates, choked briefly on swamp stench and/or past trauma. "- they don't always know when to run. There might be persuasion involved. And if anyone's trying to take them, we shoot first ask later."

Going to the ramp with a look over her shoulder Oriana turns to face them both. "Gotcha." Her idea is to protect them both as well, make sure everyone is safe. And now that she is in work mode Oriana is quiter and serious. A hand goes to pat her rifle.

Kasia takes her minutes to breathe, and solidify again, and then she pushes to her feet. Thankfully she put her boots on today, and pants, nothing froofy or flowy. This is happening more and more often. She makes it to the ramp and looks around, nose crinkling slightly at the sight of swampy land. "So, okay, we have to ifnd the palace and the people. I can do all of this while soggy." Yes, Kasia, yes you can.

"I believe in you," Hex grins at Kasia. He and Ori are infantry, they're used to getting gross, however much they might not, technically, enjoy that. "Here we go." He's armed with a pistol, himself, rather than a rife. "Oriana first, then Kasia, then me. The ship thinks this is gonna be knee deep at worst, so, not too bad, right?" Famous last words. Clouds of buzzy insects can be seen hanging over the surface of the water, which seems to have an oily sheen. Clumps of dark vegetation sprout up here and there, and thick algae pads attest to the lack of free-flowing water here.

Oriana leads their way out, walking through the muck. It isn't all that bad, she is use to dirty work, until she finds a deeper spot and sinks in. Then there is a lot of cursing in her native tongue, It's a fight to break free, a shower will be badly needed after this. "I really hope I get to shoot something now."

Ugh. There is nature. So much nature. Kasia is a city girl at heart, even if her city is an urban horror show. It's not a squelchy swamp with alge and bugs, and gross. Hex, worst date ever. She steps tentaively into the not so solid ground and slowly wades her way through, making a 'oh yuck yuck so gross why help me what did I do to deserve this' type face. At least she doesn't actually SAY any of that, and it is all for a worthy cause. You're so lucky it's for a worthy cause, Hex! She grimaces as Oriana abruptly sinks into the muck, and again as Hex does, quietly praying that she does not. And she doesn't! She'd be happy for that, except that she still had to wade through swamp, and there are still bugs, and what is that smell, and can she shoot someone too, because now she wants to irrationally place the blame for all of this gross on someone who deserves to be shot.

Hex twitches his lekku in dissatisfaction as he experiences the unique and horrifying sensation that is the feeling of water coming in over the top of one's boots. But this was his idea, he can't very well complain about it, can he? Everyone here wants to shoot somebody and his gun is out in one hand as he squelches his way forth, through the algae, through the muck, the mud... the hidden branch under the water that he does not see until he's tripped over it, and splosh, into the sickening oily swamp, just like Oriana. For a moment all that remains of him is a hand and a pistol sicking out of the muck as he struggles to keep his weapon dry, then he re-emerges, sputtering, with a plop of algae nestled between his lekku like a terrible hat. He's clearly disgusted and trying sooo hard not to say anything Kasia can use against him later. "It's not far now!"

What the hell! What the HELL! Bugs are at her, they seem to love the way Oriana tastes. Doing what she can to swat them away it's damn near futile. There are itchy red bumps that sting and hurt all over her now. It's a fight to not scratch away her skin to end it. Slipping in the swamp as she swings a hand about to get them off she goes face first into the muck, quickly getting up with a wobble and sloshing her way to the cities edge while wiping her face off. There are a lot of words in her native tongue - which by the way they are said could make a space pirate blush.

Not only does Kasia manage to make it all the way to the duracrete without falling, but she sashays her fine ass right on through that cloud of biting bugs without so much as a nibble. She's too fierce for those insects. She also manages to not laugh at Hex and his gross hat, doing that would just jinx her anyway. Don't want to do that. Once back on dry land, she stomps as much of the muck off of her boots and tries not to think of what might be swimming around inside of them. Those boots are going in the bin as soon as she's back home. Possibly as soon as she's back on Hex's ship. "Once we're past the walls, I'm pretty sure I can lead us there, the way was simple." Or it was before things got all blown up.

Slosh, slosh. Hex takes a moment, once arriving on the duracrete, to pour the water out of his boots, out of his goggles - might have helped if he'd worn them before falling, but he was obviously sooo sure he wouldn't fall. "Oriana, hang back a little and cover us in case we get into trouble, ka?" he asks, to provide a convenient excuse as to where she is while you drop off your kid!" Hex scrapes algae off his head and looks disgusted. "Kasia, I'll follow you."

Kasia does pause, when Hex does, to try and get some of the swamp out of her boots, because gross. So gross. This whole place is gross, also humid. Her hair is so going to frizz. "Okay. Stay safe," the latter part is said to Oriana before nodding to Hex, and squelching her way down the lovely, solid road that leads into the city. She pauses at the edge to orient herself, and then continues onward, glancing back at Hex every so often.

Hex follows along through the city with Kasia, close by her side - they don't look so different from anyone else here rushing through the streets on unknown business, other than the fact that Hex is incongruously swamp-soggy. Swamp-soggy, bug-bitten Oriana is following via a slightly different route, keeping an eye out for trouble! No one seems to care, however - everyone's on a mission of their own here. Shopkeepers are defending their stores, and looters are taking advantage of businesses where the proprietors gave up. Some residences and businesses seem untouched, fortified by mercenaries, while others seem to be in a shambles. Hutts on.... idk, huttcraft? Like giant fatty speeders?? zip through the streets with their attendants as they run for safety or to seize the property of their neighbors. "We're looking for a group of maybe ten, twelve people when we get to the palace you identified," Hex is talking to Kasia. "Humans, near-humans and Twi'leks. I dunno what state they'll be in. If we can get them to come with us, we grab and run. Hopefully we won't accidentally leave Tess behind but if we do...... eh, Tess'll be fine." Love you Tess.

"We will," Kasia seems determined of this. She walked through swamp and bugs to make this happen, it is GOING TO HAPPEN. "Okay, we go this way," and at that she takes a turn, leading Hex down another street, boots sqelching with each step. So gross. She shoots the Twi'lek at her side a look. "I'm pretty sure Tess would thrive here, she'd find a way to make herself Queen in a week, and then become evil, and then we'd have to come back to try and defeat her." She pauses a beat. "Maybe don't say that to her, I'd hate to give her any ideas." Another brief pause. "We shouldn't be far from the palace now."

She totally would be fine. Tess has already built a lean too and collected enough provisions to wait out the coming winter... She's started a training regimen for her new attack bugs, collected into cloistered, but social, cliques based on size of proboscis. She's fashioned clothing from various animal hides and will release the first summer catalog within a day, two at most.

She has an assistant.

It's just a tree with a face carved in it, but she's giving it orders all the same, god bless her.

Once she's seen to all of these things, she went into the city and found a nice comfortable window from which to watch the main street headed to this palace. Maybe she killed a guy to take his shop, maybe she has him wrapped in a blanket beside her and using him as a cup stand for her steaming cup of root berry beer she brewed using pieces of old starship and a water filtration system that amounts to peeing in a mister coffee.

"I'm in position." She says lazily, staring through the scope of her sniper rifle at the street. "You look like a wet dog." To Hex, one must assume, "With penises on its head."

Ah, incoming coms from Tess. Being soggy and muddy and filled with horrible oily Hutt Swamp water, Hex does look like a wet dog, and twitches his head-wangs in irritation at the comm from his sniper. ""Of all the people I love to hate, Tess, you're right near the top," he assures. "Just pay attention and try not to be horrible, alright? Like don't get distracted stabbing the elderly with rusty pirate ship anchors in the event that I need you to hit what you're aiming at." Kasia's intel is good, and the palace is as they expected - once a thriving estate, now smoldering in places, with beings running in and out - looting, trying to bring aid, hard to say. "Look for the slaves, too, Tess," Hex reminds her. "And don't shoot them, please and thank you."

Kasia's intel is good, that's good. She starts out with the plan to look for fleeing slaves, but then she finds a small chest, and inside said chest is jewelry, and let's be fair, she loves some good jewerly. She considers the chest, and then the bag that she's carrying that only contains a small first aid kit with a few necessary items -- because look at who she's with here -- and a few other things, and plenty of room for bling. Yay bling. If the chest isn't huge, she'll pick up the whole thing, if it isn't, she'll quickly shove as much of it's contents into her bag as she can. It's totally to help fund these operations. Honest. She's not going to keep a bunch of pretty, sparkly, pilfered goods. Okay, she'll use it for both.

Tess may or may not be sliding a dagger slowly in and out of a dead guys ribcage. That would explain why she didn't find whatever she was searching for, but she wasn't searching because she was too busy doing other, more violently evil, things. This is why she cannot be left alone.

She also finds other sniper nests.

So she moves to one of them, making her way through apartment buildings with Adele straped to her back. Across rooftops to various positions to keep a birds eye view over the approaching group of bedazzled resistance fighters!

"You say... I only hear what I want to.." She's singing to herself, but she's singing to herself through the open comm channel.

"You say, I talk so all the time... Soo... and I thought what I felt was simple..."

Oriana - who had taken a different route, has found herself during this time trying to wipe away the grime that's been caked onto her, from the swamp, and scratching without inhibition at all those nasty bug bites. If only her people saw her now, their future queen stinking of swamp and looking like she is ravished by some bumpy scratchy disease, oh, isn't she lovely as she curses under her breath, avoiding the scampering people while clutching her rifle. At last she meets up with Hex and Kasia, listening to Tess sing - which makes her chuckle a little. Keeping her eyes open for trouble a nod is given to the couple. "Was a bit slow, sorry. Had to stop and scratch every five bloody seconds."

"...And I thought that you don't belong," Hex is singing, yes, singing, into the com back at Tess. It's a well known song! But none of them have ever heard him sing before, and there's a reason for this, he's not very good. And he's changing the words. "And I think that now you're leaving, and I'm pretty sure that you're doin' something wrong. DON'T MISS ANYTHING, TESS." The little chest is small enough for Kasia to take the whole thing, though it crams kind of awkwardly into her satchel. "It's alright," Hex assures Oriana, frowning as they move through the palace courtyard and search. "We're just -- there! In the maintenance shed," he points. "I think that's them." He soggily runs over that direction, draws his weapon, and caaaarefully opens the door, steering clear of the opening at first just in case there's a nasty surprise inside.

What turns out to be inside are, in fact, the slaves - there are eight women ranging from about eighteen to 24, human and Twi'lek, with a Wroonian and a female Cathar to keep it interesting as well. They're dressed like they just escaped an 'entertainment' plaza, which they probably did. And one man, a Twi'lek in his 50s or so, clutching a blaster that looks like it's from the Clone Wars era, pointing it at those outside the shed. "Stay back!" he warns.

Kasia doesn't care that it's awkward, she's taking the chest, which makes her bag heavier, and lumpy, but worth it. WORTH IT, Y'ALL. That also means that she's fallen slightly behind Hex, but is quick to try and catch up with him as he approaches the shed and opens the door. The warning makes her stop, lifting both hands to try and show that she's got a weapon in her hands. Because she doesn't. She has one on her hip, but she's no soldier, she doesn't have it drawn lest she accidentally shoot someone in their little group. "We're here to help!" she calls to the slaves huddled in the shed.

The door opens and there's a man with a blaster?

Well there's a solution for that.

Tess stops singing, which is never a good sign, and pulls the trigger on her very large sniper rifle. "We don't negociate with terrorists."

Oriana follows along with Hex and Kasia, keeping up the rear with her rifle drawn. As they head to where the slaves are being kept and the door being opened the twi'lek with the rifle gets her attention. Well, not about to risk shooting a slave the princess holsters is and grab her vibrosword. Already displeased and uncomfortable she goes to storm in, showing no fear of his weapon, uncaring if she gets shot, and goes to grab at his shirt.

Hex figures out what's going on a half-second too late. "Tess, wait --!!" No, Tess doesn't wait, because Tess is a psychopath. Poor Twi'lek gun guy. He never gets a chance to be scared by Oriana's vibrosword and the ferocity granted to her visage by all those bug bites, because Tess has SHOT HIM. Luckily for him it isn't fatal, but it's bad, and he articulately says "AGGHHHH!" as he crumples in Oriana's grasp, dropping his weapon. So much for protecting the womenfolk. "DADDY!" one of the Twi'lek girls shrieks in horror as she tries to pry him free of Oriana and rush to his aid. "Get away from us, you monsters!" she sobs as the other girls are either recoiling or starting to panic. "Tess, hold your fire!" Hex coms to their irresponsible sniper, and then casts a desperate look towards Kasia. Diplomacy is clearly needed!

"STOP!" Kasia shouts at everyone, trying to get their attention, to draw people out of panic, which is a lot harder to do with the bleeding dude on the ground bleeding. THANKS TESS. A quiet sigh is exhaled through her nose as she pushes forward, trying to get to the doorway of the shed. "I apologize, the weapon spooked someone that is here for all of our protection," which sounds nicer than 'I'm sorry, we've got a total psycho with a sniper rifle and a deep desire to murder everyone that isn't us. Also possibly us.' "If you want to get him medical help, if you want to escape the slavers, and the slavery, you'll come with us now. We've got a ship to get you off world, but it's your choice. You can come, or you can say, but you have to decide quickly."

"Jeez..." Tess doesn't feel bad about her decisions! No regret! He looked like a terrorist, she's going to stick with that all the way to the tribunal. "Commander, I stand by my decision to shoot that man. He had a weapon and he was waving it. It's like he doesn't know the rules: #nonhumanlivesmatter'".

Then Kasia.

"That was beautiful..." She says quietly, "Tell them I'll send him flowers... no, the wounds probably too fresh... but if he dies, I want one of you to sprinkle some glitter stim on him... for reasons."

The shot comes right across her. If it had been a few seconds before, perhaps Oriana wouldn't have a head, or arm, or who knows what. It stuns her, normally not so careless there is a cold statue like pause as the man drops from her grasp. It was only her intention to see what side he was on, and protect the slaves first. If only she had some medical talent, she could tend to the guy. Her sword is placed in it's spot on her back while looking to Kasia as she tries to calm the situation. There is a deepening frown, as if something sort of clicks in her head, big brown eyes return to the slaves and then look down to the rifle at her side. "We want to take you to a safe place, where you no longer know this terror." Her words are deep, full of meaning, as those eyes once more scan the slaves. She isn't trying to be diplomatic, just real raw and honest. Stepping away and moving to the door a hand simply rests on the rifle. "You're all protected from here on out, this is sworn on my life as I am sure everyone elses." And thus, it is, for moving out the door - but still easily seen, she takes this time to watch for any incoming danger while everyone else gathers themselves to head out and get out of this swamp ridden bug infested hell hole.

It's a reeeeally good thing they have Kasia with them, because she manages to take the situation by the reins! It takes a whole log of diplomatic skill to cover up 'Sorry our tame serial killer shot you', but she manages it - and it helps that the Father Figure isn't dead, just wounded, though his breathing is raspy and labored. "They didn't - know - Ai'jou--" he rasps at his upset daughter. "I had -- the gun." Aw, see, he's on Tess's side. Hex looks like he might pass out - this foray into non-Resistance mission making is not off to the best start - but casts a profoundly grateful look to Kasia. She's a hero. She will get whatever she wants forever and ever amen, unless what she wants is a competent functional person for a partner, in which case probably not. "Let's get them up and let's go," Hex issues instructions, "Before anything else can go wrong." Father Figure is all noble AF as his daughter tries to help him up, "Take them and leave me if you have to!" he insists, but there's no chance to argue about it... because new company has arrived.

They look like mercenaries, sauntering up with mismatched armor and cold smiles -- they are clearly here to snatch the spoils of war out of what they consider to be some other gang's profitable claws. "Shame on you," a tall man with an eye-patch and tousled hair grins. There are five of them - Eyepatch, a girl with Pink Hair, a Chiss, a huge Burly guy, and a Rodian. Eyepatch continues, "Hasn't anyone ever told you not to damage the merchandise, in transit? Very sloppy." Hex rolls his eyes and speaks into his com, "/These/ are the ones you shoot at, you festering bunlicker!"

"We're nor leavi--" Oh no. Kasia's assurance dies on her lips as others approach, giving the approaching lot of mercs a look. "Stay down," she tells the slaves, then turns so that her back is to the shed, but she is firmly planted in the doorway. "We'll take your advice to heart, and try to be less sloppy in the future, but as you can see, these people are spoken for. So I'd suggest you move along." Because she is really bad at shooting people. Thankfully they have a psychotic woman in the group who is awesome at killing, so Kasia will simply try to offer up verbal distraction while her stone cold killer posse does the messy work.

Oh goody, bad guys for real this time!

Tess takes three quick shots, pulling her weapon slowly to the side to pan across the group of oncoming enemy combatants!

The first shot barely grazes the target, he looks very displeased, but not so displeased as Pink because she's dead.

So glorious is the death that she misses the third and final shot!

"ugh... I missed."

Didn't Oriana tell them that she'd die to keep them safe? She would. So the princess just.. walks up to them, uncaring, and brings up her sword. Mr. Eyepatch gets one swing, but it misses (barely, it isn't her day), but the Chiss, well he gets a straight clean cut, well two. One goes ring across his arm, slicing away half of it, so it dangles by a few threads of skin, the finishing blow comes with she impales him through the chest, his body dropping like a hump of lifeless flesh.

Boy, those mercs picked the WRONG stone cold killer posse to mess with! Watching them go down like that, Father Figure is probably wondering how the heck he's still alive. It's because he's a good guy, and because nobody rolled over 40 points on him! This crew of swamp-soggy Resistance soldiers with real questionable morality, they are just not to be messed with. Pink dies quick at Tess's hand, and Chiss meets a messy end with Oriana. Hex drops Burly and the Rodian without batting an eye, and Eyepatch has taken hits that have left him wounded pretty badly - but not dead. Not dead yet. "I'll see you in - hell - !" he growls at his assailants, and fires off three shots, one each for Kasia, Oriana, and Hex. Kasia, he misses - Oriana he connects with, but a scratch - Hex he hits a little more solidly. Ow. Don't tell Dr Haslett.

Kasia, despite her terrible skills at dodging, is unharmed, and she can notice that Father Figure is starting to not look so good. He can walk, but not for much longer, they've got to get out of there if they want him with them. Tess, amazingly also noticing her surroundings, sees a stirring in the shadows and may realize she is suddenly not alone in her sniper nest...

Kasia is the worst at dodging, she really is, so it's pretty lucky that the shot misses her entirely. She backs further into the shed to try and avoid any fine red mist that she probably can't avoid and will therefore stain and ruin her clothing forever. This whole outfit is a total loss. SIGH. She looks to the father, to his not so great condition, and crouches down beside him. "Let me see the wound, maybe we can patch it enough to get you back to the ship." Or else she'll just bring the ship in and land it on what remains of the house. It's not her ship, she can scratch it up, right? SORRY HEX. One of these days she will actually shoot someone, but that day isn't today. Or at least it's not eye-patch. Maybe she'll shoot someone else later. Hopefully not a friendly.

Least it's just a scratch, because Oriana would have been right out pissed if it were more, mind you she's had a pretty rough go of it with swamp crap and bug bites. Mr. Eyepatch doesn't stand a chance as she slices him in half, in a mist of red, her other swings don't hit because he is already down.

Hex got shot, ow! It doesn't look like it's the severity itself that's causing him problems, so much as it's the location. Shot in the lekku, right at the base of the right-hand one! That must be very painful, based on the way he's gone totally useless all of a sudden, and a paler shade of green, with his eyes winced shut and hand pressed to the wound. But all the mercenaries are dead now, thanks to Oriana, and perhaps that makes Tess's visitor think twice about whatever he or she had planned. Whoever it was vanishes back into the shadows, and the way is clear to help the slaves up, out of the maintenance shed, hurrying back to the Quickdraw. It's probably a good thing, because the wound to the older Twi'lek seems beyond what Kasia's medical understanding will allow her to treat! "Tess," Hex comms, "(UNINTELLIGIBLE RYL)!" Oops. Not in Basic, wrong language. Basic seems really hard all of a sudden, though, and he winces. "Go. Let's - go!"

And with that, the scene fades on a mad dash back through the swamp, back to the ship, and out of the chaos, for the heroes of questionable morality, and for those with a new life ahead of them -- a new life, and, if they continue to hang around this kind of company, no shortage of more chaos.
