The Irregulars: Oh Yeah, Hulk Diving

OOC Date: February 6, 2020
Location: Naboo System
Participants: Bizz Bliptettjupp, Jax Greystorm, Sesti Greystorm, Nova Korell, Rial Het, Dyannah Nerus

The hulk of the Supremacy, 2.9 kilometers long when it was whole, is impossible to see except on long scan. Pieces of the wreck kicked off in different directions from the impact of lasers and missiles obeying the laws of physics. They rotate in eccentric orbits: light and shadow in the cold of space.

ON THE BRIDGE OF THE COMPASS ROSE

A cross-section of the Supremacy circles on the holo platform based on new intel shared by Resistance headquarters. Next to it, holograms of the Supremacy taken during the battle and computer projections of the pieces approximate courses.

"Our objective is to salvage computers and data cores from the main bridge or the aux bridge. Redundancy and better shielding didn't help them in the end, but we are quite certain it broke off in one complete section. We have an approximation for where the main bridge is drifting. That's our destination." Captain Nerus clad in a slim-fitting black flight suit walks to the other side of the platform and turns to the group.

"What we do with them will be determined by how good we and Res intelligence are at extracting the information. This mission could determine the course of our work for the New Republic for tens of ten days."

"Piloting in and matching rotation will be a delicate process. We need to be fast and accurate to avoid attracting attention anyone else with the same bright idea. Let's hope we're quicker and better." The Zeltron woman's skin is tinted purple from the blue light of the holoprojections when she turns to point at the wreck.

"This will be volunteer only for the egress and recuperation. If there are no questions, let's get suited up so that we don't waste time when we find our piece of the hulk."

"Let me hear your input on this before we tick over into the final approach."

Wearing one of Jax's old flight suits, so that it's a little baggy, Sesti has her helmet under her arm as she watches the holo. "Maybe I need to learn more about my computer than just how to look up the latest cyber news," she murmurs. She looks over to her husband, and gives him a grin. "Good think I will be with the best pilot in the galaxy, then." She pauses. "Well, there is Po, so... second best, I guess."

"You know I'm in," Nova says, raising her hand. "Anything I can do to help us and hurt the Order." She frowns at the display. "I served on that ship for a long time. Never liked it. But I think I can help when it comes to finding the computers."

Rial Het gives a small nod to the mission outline. "Plain enough, innit? Will need eyes on what's left to know for sure, but looks easy enough on approach." A turn of his eyes around at the others, to see whether the others have an added insight, before the rogue will begin to Don his void suit

Bizz Bliptettjupp is unaccustomed to space walks, but in his days as a starship mechanic he was required to do some extra-vehicular repairs in a vacuum. The monk is wearing a thin TaggeCo Standard X emergency space suit with magnetic boots and a comlink, and a few hours of oxygen supply. There is no armor, but there are a few emergency vacuum patches for holes stuffed in the utility belt. "By the FORCE, I bet there are routes through the Unknown Regions in those computers! Hidden planets! A treasure trove of data."

The Compass Rose, a Y-4 troop transport, and the Painted Warrior appear, dust motes on the edge of the Naboo system. The ships coast towards the objective, keeping a low profile leaving their hyper footprint near an asteroid with a small mining operation.

From the tiny cockpit of the Painted Warrior, Jax's Helix Interceptor, <So Pirates or the Naboo government?> He says as looks at the tiny blue Dyannah and her image. <I'm fine with going through the neighbors trash.> He looks at Sesti, <Think we might actually stay at the house after this is done? Wiat did you just say Poe is better than me?> Then he looks back at Bizz who may or may not got that space suit from the locker on the Warrior. < Uhm... Bizz if you borrowed that just put it back or you'll annoy Exine.> THe droid in question, Exine was circling around Bizz inspecting it.

The rectangular box of the Y-4 transport pirouettes in place like a classical Corellian dancer, the jets on the craft barely discernible as they position themselves so the crew can jet pack themselves over to the wreck. A cross-section map of the command center has been sent to everyone's HUDs by Rial. The Painted Warrior and the Compass are as close to the slowly rotating wreck as possible. Still, it is dangerous reaching it, requiring care on the part of the crew going in.

Fastening her helmet on, Sesti steps up to the airlock. "Maybe you should stay here, Exine, this looks a little far for Jax to lift you." She shrugs as Exine zrrbrts that idea, and looks to her husband. "Your call." She pauses, looks across the gap, and then flexes her knees to leap across and grab a hold of an antenna poking out so that she can brace her feet on the outside of the ship.

<I've never liked this part...> Nova mutters as she steps into the outer airlock door, forgetting that her mic is voice-activated. <Here I gooooooo!>

It's a good jump until the end, when she has to take a knee to cancel the force of the landing or go spinning off into space. She quickly activates the magnetic soles of the Katarn armor's boots and *tromp-tromp-tromps* over to an airlock.

Before sealing his vaccuum helmet on, Rial lingers a moment to rotate the projection of the wreckage with Dyannah's chosen angle of approach. "There we are. Ought t'give us a pretty straight shot in, aye?" Clicking his helmet into place, he lilts over comms, <<Everybody receiving this? Transmitting what we got ahead of us, now.>> Dyannah gets a merry wink and salute on his way to the airlock.

<<Just say when, luv,>> he bids Nova, accepting the trooper's lead. Bizz's excitement draws an easy smile. "I like your enthusiasm, old lad. Helps that you're probably right." Then it's out into the great void, where Rial narrowly manages not to make a mess of the crossing. <<Not quite graceful as a dancer, but I'm aboard. Maybe graceful as a dancer after a few stiff drinks," the Talusian amends, after a moment. He checks to verify that his tool kit, comp spiker, and weapons made the trip with him, then tromps along the charred hull after Nova.

Bizz Bliptettjupp pressurizes his suit to make certain there are no holes. "Don't worry, I will return it!" he says to Jax and the uppity droid. The Ugnaught isn't fond of droids. He takes a slender quiver of arrows and attaches it to the suit's utility belt, along with a two-foot-long nightstick-looking device with brassy finger holes at its center. And of course his uneti-wood walking stick is strapped to his back. Then he looks in his life-line and hops out the hatch. "The FORCE will be with us!"

Jax put the Painted Warrior up in sync with the Compass Rose and the remains of the Finalizer. He rises from the chair and picks up the old clone commando helmet. THe helmet slips down over his head with a hiss sealing as he'd already prepped it for EVA. <Mic, Check. I got this. Alright, Exine. We're going on an adventure.> The droid beeps and wails at him. Then Jax takes off making the leap towards the hull of the Finalizer. His boots connecting. THen he reaches out with the force and goes to pull Exine towards him. He's got too good of a pull and the droid strikes the hull of a the Supremacy leaving a dent in it and sending Exine flying off at a weird angle, <Sithspit. I got you!> Then reaching out with the force he grabs at straws as Exine floats too far too fast out of his grim. The little droid cussing him the entire way. THere's even mechanical manipulator gestures. Jax continues till the little guy's out of his reach. Though at Bizz's declaration. Jax turns his head and just looks.

The command bridge of the Supremacy is the smallest top piece in a series of successively larger wedges that make up the huge ship. It is near the top of the staggered cake of plasteel and armor. It, thanks to its reinforcements, survives with one lone broken comm scanner sticking out from it like a broken tooth. Wiring and ducts trail out into space as it slowly turns on its own axis.

The noise of the airlock working tells Dyannah that the crew is on their way.

In Dyannah's prim accent and exaggerated R's, <<"Stay safe, stay alert and get your butts back here as fast as you can with the goodies, please!">> The exterior cameras give her an image of the wreck, one is trained on the crew as they make the leap.

Hanging on to the antenna until her boots lock onto the plating of what's left of the Finalizer's bridge, Sesti turns to watch Jax trying to catch Exine, her helmet slowly turning to watch Exine float away. <<He is going to be so mad when we get him back. I think I will sleep on the Tai.>> She looks to her husband before she returns to the business at hand, eyes scanning before her, then comparing it with the schematic that Rial sent to her. "Looks like I just need to go around the edge..."

A little computer slicing gets the airlock open in moments. <New ship class, but still the same old encryption patterns. I guess the Order's pretty set in its ways,> Nova observes, putting away her intrusion pad and stepping inside. <This thing's been awfully popular lately, so keep your guard up, folks.>

Rial Het returns to Dyannah, <<Butts, with the rest still attached, aye. Nova's got the door, heading in- is that bloody droid?>> the rogue mutters upon glimpsing Exnine drifting into the distance. A shake of his head, and he gets back on task, following Nova through the airlock and into the shard of the ruined Mega Destroyer. <<Well, they didn't babe theirselves the First Creativity, did they?>> he quips back to Nova's mention of the Order.

Bizz Bliptettjupp lands on the outer Quadanium hull of the Supremacy with a CLANK. His boots seal and he awkwardly seal-steps his way to the hatch. "Oh I hate space," the monk is muttering. Finally he makes his way to the hatch and worms his way awkwardly inside. He is following Nova Korell.

Jax slips into the airlock. His blaster sliding out at Nova suggestion. <Yeah, Rial. The plan for the droid didn't work. Dyannah, If you could catch my droid or at least track his trajectory so I can go get him? It would be helpful.> He looks inside and around, <So anyone good at Engineering? That's why I was bring Exine with us? I know Rial is a crazy monkey lizard genuis on slicing. I can also get us through any bulkheads we need to go through.>

The HUD maps give them a cross-section view of the command bridge and the war room behind blast doors with its set of computer and holoprojectors. The command center itself is on two levels: the 'Pits' where the scan techs work and the long walkway parallel to them both where command can survey the action looking down on the crew. The plasteel windows are skewed in their frames but are still intact.

A light begins to pulse on Dyannah's command board. On scan a ship has appeared several kilometers away on the other side of the wreck and is coming in hot and reckless. Flipping switches, she studies the scan. A Ghtroc 720: the transponder tells her it is named the 'Big Win', <"Heads up. We have a ship that is headed straight into the area.">

The pilot of the ship is a gambler and brakes very close to the hulk and within minutes is spewing space-suited crew into space going towards the opposite side of the bridge. They are minutes behind the crew of the Compass and Painted Warrior.

<"They have crew incoming to the wreck, I counted six, but I might be wrong. They've seen us so watch yourselves. I don't think we can withdraw you in time not to meet them head on">

Sesti gives a short laugh over private com to Jax. <Where is Kadi when you need her?> Her eyes scan the bridge as the enter, and she hears Dyannah's warning. She looks over to the others, drawing her vibro blade. <<Engineering and computers are not really my skill.>> She heads towards the other entrance, finding a pit to hop down into. There is barely room for her, and she doesn't realize the top of the helmet of the rarely worn EVA suit is sticking up a little over the ege.

<Well, at least they're not subtle,> Nova murmurs, gesturing to the group to take cover. <Let me see if I can't reduce these odds some.>

Slipping a grenade from one of her belt pouches, she kicks her way over to the hatch. She works fast, hastily mesh-taping the grenade to the hatch lip. Tying a wire to the pin, she quickly tripwires the grenade to the airlock hatch. This should slow them down a bit...

She kicks her way back to the others. <We've got a little time. Anybody wanting to get going on those computers, now's the time. You're covered.>

<<Crazy monkey genius?>> Rial echoes, sounding even parts impressed and wary. <<Not sure I'd say that, but I do me best.>> Word that there is another team incoming causes Rial to hasten his magnetic steps, as the rogue gains the bridge and descends into the pits. << I'll work fast I can, aye,>> he assures Nova, setting to work cutting through non-essential connections to work on freeing one of the bridge's datacore hubs. The fighting must be left to the experts, for now, as the rogue focuses on getting the goods.

Bizz Bliptettjupp finds a dark corner of the Supremacy's bridge and takes out his slender metal stick, depressing a button in the grip to make both ends telescope out to approximately five feet long. Well, the top end comes out. The bottom end has to be awkwardly pulled out by the monk's stout fingers. The weapon has seen better days. Another button is depressed and the thin string attached to both long ends slides from a divoted channel in the bow staff, bending both flexible ends and humming with power. It is some sort of portable Kyuzo energy bow. He takes an arrow from his magnetically-locked quiver and nocks it in the bow's string, charging the thin bolt with destructive power. He waits.

Exine goes floating past the Scavenger's ship as it comes to a complete stop. His mandibles reaching out to grab the ship and just centimeters too far from reaching it.

Jax though finds him a defensive position hidden behind one of the old consoles that a communication officer man, probably an unlucky position but it gives him a vantage point to try to ward off the six scavengers. <You know these guys haven't done anything we haven't done yet. Maybe we should tell them to get lost?>

The vibration of magnetic boots can be felt through the floor, soundlessly the scavengers of the Big Win advance on the brave crew of the Irregulars coming through a door in the war room. They walk straight into Nova's trap. In the crew pits, Rial works at top speed pulling computers while the three from the Painted Warrior wait in ambush.

The ka-room of the grenade blowing can't be heard but the shock kills one scavenger outright, gutting his suit and leaving him to the cold of space. The others pull back but the computers seem to be a high stakes item so they regroup and advance towards the pits despite the possibility of more grenades awaiting them. " The rest of Sesti's helmet rises from the pit. They maybe are not taken by surprise, but as she steps forward, she slices at the one in the lead, and as he pauses at the slice across his torso, she steps past him to the next one. <<Please leave before someone gets killed.>> she broadcasts over her headset. <<We were here first, and I do not want to kill anyone, but I will not let you harm my friends.>> The mag boots don't allow her to move as fast she'd like, and her forward momentum during the two attacks has taken her past them towards the one in tactical command. She stops to look at him, her blade in front of her. <<Call your people back>> she advises.

Taking cover behind one of the crew consoles, Nova trains her weapon on the airlock hatch. <Any moment now...>

The entrance is sudden but silent when the scavs come in. The grenade does its work well: One of the intruders is killed outright, though his body shields the others from the blast. Next time, maybe she should tape the /grenade/ to the hatch so it'll pop free and detonate in the middle of the group.

Lesson learned, maybe.

Sesti's attack is an example of grace and power, taking down one scavenger and wounding another.

<Ooh... that had to hurt! My turn!>

Another scavvy goes down under Nova's carbine, a blue stunbolt sending her tumbling. The leader catches another of her shots, but manages to twist away from the third, which spends itself uselessly against the bulkhead by the airlock. <Variable, this is Knife!> she coms to Dyannah on the /Rose/. <We have multiple contacts! Three down, but the others are still very lively!>

Rial Het is furiously at work on the bridge datacore as the skirmish erupts in earnest. He makes fine progress, loosening the bulky piece of machinery he would have tremendous difficulty moving if there were any gravity. Ironically, the rogue decides working through a gunfights is *more* stressful when he can't hear anything, and is left to wonder. << I've got a big one, should I make a break with it or sit tight and try for more?>>

Bizz draws back his arrow, charging it through the energized strength of that strange bow. There is a soft thrum as he fires and the arrow's tip blossoms into a red bolt of plasma which impacts on the wall and sticks there. A second arrow is ejected magnetically from his hip quiver by some signal from his impeller gauntlet and the monk grabs it, nocks it, and fires again! This one misses too. His ill-fitting spacesuit is probably to blame.

Jax pops up from his position firing stun bolts at the leader, <Problem. This guys is good.> As all three shots miss. Then he looks to track Sesti to make sure she's alright.

Opening coms to a general frequencies used between ships, Dyannah hails the 'Big Win'. <"This is the captain of the Compass Rose. I'd advise you pull your people back, 'Big Win' otherwise it will be winner take all. There is plenty for both of us if you let us finish up, we will leave it all to you.">

On the bridge of the Supremacy, the crew of both ships go head to head with the incoming scavengers. The scavengers are not pulling their punches despite being attacked with weapons set on stun.

Dyannah sets the com computer to repeat her message scrolling through all com frequencies known to them in hopes of getting a response. In the meantime, injuries are taken among both sides of the unnecessary conflict. The Zeltron brings targeting up on the 'Big Win' and weapon systems go hot.

Sesti continues on as the shots fly around, ducking her head to one side as she walks towards the leader. She swipes towards him and he seems about to get away from her, but the first one was a feint, on the back swing she gets his attention. Holding her saber towards his face she stands as straight as she can. <<I told you. Take your people and leave>> she says in her most intimidating voice.

Nova falls back against the chair of her station, a horrible burning sensation she knows all too well spreading across the right side of her abdomen. She grimaces, pushing herself back up to cover the other boarding party, stifling the pain through sheer force of will. Up comes her carbine's barrel, centering on the leader. <This rifle's set on Kill. You heard the horny lady: Get your people and go. NOW. Or we /stop/ being nice.>

Rial Het gets the core fully detached, though to call it a clean extraction would require a bluff possibly beyond even Rial's talents. <<Got it loose, hell with it, I'm taking this and calling it good. Anybody need help moving?>> he asks his fellows.

Bizz is shot in the left leg by one of the leader's stray blaster bolts. His suit hisses as atmosphere begins to escape through a hole in it. "Poodu!" He keeps an arrow on the string, hoping the scavenger leader takes the hint and escapes with his life. If not, the monk is ready to fire another volley of arrows at him.

Jax smiles as Sesti negotiates the way Sesti does first with the vibroblade and then firm words of go home. The ne reaches out with the force to try to put some umph with his voice, "Take you're men and go home." It just comes off as Jax talking. Though he does say on the squad com, <Not a good idea Nova. That joke gets me the cold shoulder.>

<<"COMPASS ROSE, HOLD YOUR FIRE!">> crackles back on coms at the last moment. Inside the wreck, the Res allies have stunned most of the scavengers who have retreated waiting for orders from their ship.

<<"Pull your people back.">> Dyannah takes a stab in the dark knowing how good her people are. <"You have wounded. We have no intention of wiping your crew out. This is first come, first serve. You will have plenty to take home. You have ten seconds to acknowledge me."> Not five seconds pass before Dyannah hears, <"It's yours. We are pulling back.">

Over general internal coms, Dyannah calls, <"Everyone out. We don't need anyone else hurt. I will bring the ship in closer. They are holding fire">>

The helmet's visor hides the slight narrowing of Sesti's eyes as she hears the 'horny lady', but she doesn't say anything about it. As Dyannah sends the message to them over the coms, she gives a nod to the leader. Backing away she keeps her saber in a defensive position until she's far enough to say on just their comms without the scavengers hearing, <<Jax is right>>. She makes her way back out towards where Jax left the Painted Warrior waiting for them, keeping her eyes to the scavengers to the last minute, ready to activiate if one of them twitches in just the wrong way.

<Joke? What do... /oh/. I /did/ say that...> Nova mutters, with a pained exhalation. <Sorry, Sesti. I'll cover you. Everybody out, like the captain says.> She's not convinced of the other crew's honesty, but she won't fire unless they do something especially stupid, like shoot her again.

Rial Het hastens his magnetic steps out of the pit, taking a quick headcount as he gains the elevated walkway and can visually check on his teammates. Giving a short nod to Nova's instructions, he pulls the datacore along with him, drifting through the zero gravity, nearly half his own size.

Bizz lowers his bow and collapses the strange weapon back into that two-foot-long cylinder, hanging it from his belt. He quickly works on his wounded leg, trying to patch the leak, and then starts limping toward the hatch. "Oh, I am getting too old for these adventures," he mumbles.

Jax helps Nova provide cover back to the ships. She had her traditions and he had his, maybe it was the armors. Though at Bizz's statement about being too old, "Nah, I know a good doctor that will get you patched up." He then slaps a self sealing patch, "GIve it a two count." Then as the Painted Warrior crew makes their jump. He jumps turns to slaute the Rose and then back to grab the hatch of the Warrior.

Dyannah drums her fingers on the console watching crew exit the hulk one by one. Dyannah in worried mother mode calls, <"How bad is it? We are going to have a talk about you keeping me informed."> Weapons are still hot and aimed at the scavenger freighter while she waits for the crew to come home.

The 'Big Win's' aggressiveness causes them a big loss. Whether they go back in to scavenge after the Irregulars withdraw with their booty is a moot point. The data core will bring a wealth knowledge to the Resistance and the New Republic Navy.

<<It is nothing,>> Sesti says shortly as she hops onto the Painted Warrior. <<We can regroup and I will take care of people.>> Directly to Jax she says, <Do not get used to be right> as she enters their airlock, waiting for him to enter with her to cycle into the little ship.

Bizz Bliptettjupp allows Jax to patch his suit since the slap-patch he uses fails miserably - maybe it was past its best-by date. Then there is the awkward scramble back to the ship. He goes to the Painted Warrior to give Jax's droid back a SLIGHTLY USED spacesuit, but there is a great deal of limping. He's taken quite a shot to his leg.

Pausing to seal the airlock behind everyone, Nova makes the leap to the /Compass Rose/. <Variable... this is Knife. Objective met. Have two... wounded. Coming back now.> At least the airlock is easy to reach, though she has to lean against the hatch for several seconds to quell the pain in her abdomen after the jump. <Now we just have... to get home...>

<<We were a bit busy, weren't we, luv?>> Rial protests to Dyannah with an audible smile in his words as he sets the datacore down as the gravity of the Compass Rose begins to be felt, hastening to recover one of the ship's medpacks and bringing it to the wounded Nova.

Jax pulls his helmet off as he air lock compresses. "Alright lets get out of here. I got see if I can find Exine. You got Brother Bizz?" He though stops to hug Sesti and steal a kiss, " I'm always right." He gets on com, <Alright Where's the meet at Rose? Sorry it was happening way to soon to report."
