The Xoyut Chronicle Chapter 1: No Man's Land

OOC Date: 12/16/19
Location: Xoyut, Kalamith sector, Outer Rim Territories
Participants: Zee'Roh Kora, Sumi Kora, Ca'tra Kora, Mydas Gryph, Narsai Ordo, Kryll and Hadrix Kora

Xoyut - a small planet with limited hyper-space capability, less galactic presence, but some of their vine fruits are unique and produce luxury liquors in the core. Liquors that have turned five farming groups into noble houses that have ruled for decades. Earlier in the year the largest buyer of the Zuda-Fruits said they will only buy from a single house. The threat of vying noble houses suddenly under the control of one spurred action.

In eight months two of the houses are gone, and one of the two smallest Gyid has risked the little remaining of their budget to hire mercenaries. Hoping for those who can finish this fight.

The group that had assembled was being deployed on the edges of the house front, where trench warfare has come to a head - house forces need to be given an opening to cross the No Man's Land, open a hole in Ouridi defenses and allow Gyid to break into the enemy trench network.

'Lord Commander' Cetur's teal skinned face is framed in old holographics, frog lipped and bug eyed, the amphibious descended native trying to look stern, "Once you?re on the ground, assess the situation and relay your findings to the front commanders. They are relying on your tactical acumen. If you have any questions to me, ask them and I will answer." The hover transport rumbles through the 'lorri' lines in the trenches, periodic energy and solid slug rounds bouncing off of, or flattening against the massive armor plate on the front, protecting those inside upon it?s arrival in the front 'pits' of the lead trench, wing doors opening when those inside trigger them.

Zee'Roh is seated in the back of the transport with her rifle slung across her chest on a sling craddled against her armor with her free arm not holding the railing above her as it bobs along the turrain into the trench pits. Her helmet surveys their surroundings as the winged doors open, weapon up into a low ready position as she descends out and releases the Seeker Droid from its housing on her back to immediately rise up above into the sky for the purpose of communications, scans, and overwatch. <<"Comms check.. Zee'Roh in.">> Click click, <<"What kind of resistance force are we looking at Lord Commander?">>

Sumi sits near the back, closest to the hatch that was to be lowered when they disembarked. Unsecuring something from the wall, she dropped it down in front of her, wavering a bit as the vehicle prompted. The occasional TINK or WHIP-CRACK of slug rounds have no visual effect on the ancient warrior as she opens the case before her and pulls out the receiver of her sniper rifle.

A few moments pass, and she's attached the barrel, checked the head, space, and timing, slid the buttstock into place, and the internal assembly is fit into place. A weathered grip holds the weapon in a chicken-winged fashion as she snaps the receiver closed, and places a powerpack in place before using her hand to chop the bolt forward and chamber a tibanna cannister with a loud CHIK-SNAP.

The case is moved aside and Sumi rises, producing a scope from her bandolier to click in place upon the top rail. Zee's question earns Sumi's gaze, but she remains quiet, shifting only to brush her cape aside to find her sling to attach it to her assembled weapon.

Kryll also sits near the back, his E-11 blaster rifle strapped to a sling around his chest. He listens into the breifing through his helmet, and confirms Zee'roh's comm check. <<Confirm. Kryll.>> He continues through his pre-check on his kitm ensuring working order and ammo situations. "Trench warfare is the worst."

This much war, death and blaster bolts ringing off their transport? It was like being on some of the worse parts of Mandalore all over again. But reflection on childhood homes would have to wait as Narsai sat back in the transport, the T-visor of her helmet obscuring any glimpses of memory or emotion. Once more, compared to the larger weapons of her companions the heavy W-35 pistol she had at hand looked rather subdued, but she'd used it enough times to make it pretty clear the Mandalorian-made weapon had quite the punch on the targets it hit.

With one last check of her replacement powerpacks on her webbing, the Reviver turns her gaze to look over Sumi and Zee, herself nodding in agreement with the question before she flicks a switch on her gauntlet and brings her AR feeds to life. <<Synching up,>> the call comes, as good as a confirmation in itself. Seems they were in for a busy day.

One being clad in crimson Void armor sits in the transport with his back to the vehicle's left-most wall and his knees curled up to his chest. His head is oddly swaying to the left and the right slightly, and low-pitched, harmonius whistling sounds are being emitted from his helmet's vocalizer. After a few seconds of doing this, the whistling turns into outright singing:

There once was pilot named Bates Who danced the fandango on skates. But a fall on his cutlass Has rendered him nutless And practically useless on dates!

The crimson-clad Mandalorian continues his low-whistling until the notification of arrival comes over in his helmet's internal comlink. However, when prompted for acknowledgment on the squad's frequency, he doesn't acknowledge, and simply continues whistling while twirling his Blastech pistol out of its holster and checking it.

Galactic history has seen this type of warfare for all too long. Her old household fell when the trenches around their dome were overrun. Back against the wall of the trench Ca'tra waits, HUD active she doesn't need to turn her head to watch the others. The short cape covers the medical kit that nestles at her side, she has already unholstered the Glie-44, awaiting the signal to move forward.

<<"Light infantry with armored infantry reserves and a number of nest weapons. We've seen conventional solid slug machine-gun nests and several light repeater blaster emplacements.>> the Lord Commander's face looks grim, <<"We don't have recent visual confirmation of their placement">>

Hadrix looms back with the others, quiet, <<"Alorir, I can be ready for additional oversight if you need. I don't have my arty, but I do have my rifle">> the big man offers, to make sure they know he's there if they need.

The squad is ushered out to see lines of teal skinned males and females, fat lipped, bug eyed, damp flesh. Most look scared, some have a content of either snapping or finally growing accustomed. Shells whistle and scream overhead, a short volley that send infantry huddling for cover while those in command marked helmets look to the mercenaries for guidance.

Zero feeds tactical down to her HUD and Zee'Roh analyzes it quickly from her kneeling position behind the trench wall where the transport had dropped the squad off. <<"We've got some dug in snipers with repeater cover to the right of that big Turbolaser mount center of my current position...">> Zee sends the relative data on short bursts to the squad units helmet computers HUD, <<"Heavy infantry to the left... viewing the topography of the field between us and them...">> Shifting her view to something aerial, <<"Sumi, can you engage the right wing snipers from this position while I lead the rest of the squad up the left flank under heavy cover that puts us out of position for return from from those repeaters... The turbolaser might get a bead on us, but it'll have to swing around out of position for anything better than line of sight pot shots..">>

Doing quick figures, <<"Anyone got demolitions? Once we've engaged ground forces, I'll bring the engineer over to take out that implacement?">>

Hadrix addressing her and asking for direction prompts Sumi to raise her free hand and point to Zee. While Sumi was Alor, she was the designated marksman and far better at ranged than up close; her armor was not intended for the same punishment some of the others could take.

<<"Reading you clearly.">> Sumi answers Narsai, glancing her way before the ramp dropped and they were ushered out. Zee's synopsis of the scenario has Sumi surveying the field quietly. The shells striking the ground from overhead put off a loud CRACK of concussion that rattles Sumi's teeth. This. This was what she lived for.

Sumi tilts her head up, indicative to the fact that she'd heard Zee and nodded to acknowledge. Lifting her heavy rifle, Sumi trudges off silently to find herself a proper nest to set up. Sumi passes Ca'tra, Mydas, and Hadrix.

Kryll stands up on the transport for a bit, taking a look over the battlefield beyond but unable to determine just what plan might be best to break the lines. He climbs down from the transport and shakes his head, <<No demolitions here.>> he watches Sumi walk off, and checks in with the others. <<We could attempt to breach an opposing trench with cover fire from sniper support, as well as any smoke or cover we could lay down. Once a trench is breached it will require the other force to collapse in on that breach to keep it from spreading through the lines, and that is when the rest of the troops can push up in support.>>

<<Agreed,>> Narsai speaks as they move from the transport, synching her targeting system to the snipers. << I lack anything with enough punch, but we can draw some fire or move in enough to take them in close with Sumi's overwatch. >>

Assaulting the trenches under sniper cover is as old as warfare. Ca'tra remains silent aware that her group knows that demolitions is not her expertise. <<Will provide cover as I can. Is there air support or ground artillery to soften them up?">>

Mydas of the Gryph was the last to emerge from the transport, and he did so at a leisurely pace. Upon reaching the hovercar's opening, a stray slugthrower shot struck the side of the vehicle, mere inches from his right hand. He jerks his hand back, alarmed.

"<<Haar'chak! That's a hell of a way to welcome a haar guest--">>

Mydas snickers at his own joke and jumps out of the transport. As soon as he hits the ground, he kneels and focuses his attentions to the field of battle ahead. As Zero's report comes in, his own mid-range scouting confirms it.

"<<That's a hell of a question->>" Mydas says, hustling to the right flank. <<"--I'd say set one of the now-empty transports straight into the haar turbolaser battery, but only if it ain't comin' out of my check.>>"

Mydas settles behind cover near the other squadmembers covered on the right flank.

<"I'm all for differing tactical view points, but I've got aerial footage and an accurate head count with a baseline straight fire coarse mapped on my HUD including varying lines of fire, defilade, and flank cover. I've run the statisical variation of your suggestion three thousand times through my processors and it offers minimal increase in success rate against my stated tactical analysis.">> Zee sounds like a robot, shouldering her weapon as she crouch walks towards the left most section of the trench under the sound of sharp-crack explosions and the snap hiss of projectiles flying over head. <<"If there's no further questions regarding my ability to accurately and safely advance this squad on those heavy infantry?">>

<<"I've only been doing this for fifty years.">>

<<"No big deal.">>

Yes, she's curt.

It's part of her charm.

<<"Everyone on me. Sumi, you're weapons hot. Hadrix, if things get dicey, you're Plan B. Once we've sum-part'd that left flank, I want you to rocket in and put the hurt ont hat gun placement.">> Said as she leaps up into a roll over the edge of the trench, headed intently towards the first section of cover in line along the left flank. Firing as she moves in along cover.

Sumi finds a position to set up shop, placing her back against something solid and extending her rifle no further than she needed to. A peek through the scope, and she has a view of the field of battle. A slow cycle of optics feeds render a good idea of what's going on, and Sumi makes her assessment silently. At the call to go weapons hot, Sumi's thumb moves the selector to fire, and she reaches forward to deploy her bipod.

A slow pan, and Sumi identifies a target. She inwardly considers the position, wondering if perhaps, this nest was responsible for the indirect fire being dropped near the friendly lines. She slides a finger over her trigger and releases a slow breath.

One man shifts, carrying a crate of ammunition. Sumi slowly squeezes the trigger when she's achieved sight alignment and picture. A sudden contrail of bright red crosses the expanse of the field, leaving the air steaming in its wake. The massive lance kicks up a bout of dirt, mud, rock, debris, piercing the nest and penetrating the 'Ammo guy' through the gut. The lance goes straight through, spilling him over and prompting his buddy, the one on the weapon to go prone.

Sumi switches to thermals attempting to see if she can make out the gunner's form through the thin nest barricade. <<"Engaging.">> She informs the squad. Her HUD is synched with Zero, identifying just what she's targeting and conveying that to those in the field who have a HUD synched with the droid. <<"Gunner is pinned.. stand by.">>

Kryll listens to Zee who lays out the plan, and knows this isn't his command. So he readies up and draws his vibrodagger in his left hand, then jumps up and out following behind her. The terrain in no mans land isn't the best however, and so he stumbles a bit on the run, not making it as far as he wants and having to dive back into cover, waiting for the next burst that he can make a move again.

While the roving synch of Sumi's sniper fire traces a blue indicator across her field of vision, Narsai moves with the others. Only one pistol drawn, her free hand claps Kryll on the back as they move, indicating her presence behind the others. This time she was taking up the rear rather than leading the charge, but she'd worked with Clan Kora plenty of times now. More than just their Alorir clearly knew their stuff. That sudden rain of fire returned their way towards Mydas and Kryll has the woman rising out of cover for a moment, taking her weapon in both hands to steady.

The W-35 was no sniper rifle and the target was clearly at the very edge of the weapon's range, but with one jade eye peering down the sights and the other closed behind the shroud of her T-visor her gloved finger squeezes to take advantage of the diverted attention. A pair of bolts fly, the first narrowly missing before the second skims above the barrel of the nest and slams into the gunner to end his existance with a smoking hole in his face. Now only the Ammo-bearer remained in that nest, and he was keeping his head down. <<Scratch one.>>

Mydas peers out of cover and witnessess some of the soldiers within the repeater nest go down.

"<<Moving to rear, nest position,>> Mydas states into his comlink, and attempts to slink out of his current position of cover to one ten-meters east of him without being detected.

  • PEWPEWPEWPEWPEWPEWPEW*

A stream of red bolts careen towards Mydas, but he manages to dive into the new cover position without getting hit.

<"Negative on the rear-flank,>> Mydas says, slight disappointment in his tone.

Up and over the top behind Narsai, cape fluttering as she runs crouched zig zagging to avoid fire, the doctor is the last of the group. Certainly the lightest armed among them, Ca'tra lays down blaster gun fire from behind a hummock created by an earlier shell that dropped short of its mark. It is more harassment than real danger to the enemy. Using her lower arm to sight over she squeezes shot after shot at the nest emplacements doing no great damage.

Rifle fire from Zero was enough to draw attention as one of the amphibious humanoids was thrown back and another forced down, while ammo men and gunners at nests were being practically torn in half by anti-materiel, and practically anti-materiel weapons.

Hails of anti-infantry fire come in, the men and women that charge over the line, some falling as they go, indeed many of the line troops swarm with the Mandos and the merc, envigored by them and the sheer force of presence. Blaster and solid slug fire filling the air. Bodies dropping on either side and a small crater dug into the ground when the Turbo Laser 'snap fires' and misses.

CLAK-CLAK!

The slugthrower rifle dips over the top of the difilade Zee had taken cover in and reports sharply in a return fire volley towards the Heavy Infantry, hurling the amphibious soldier backwards with a wicked gutshot. Trying to gauge relative distance between their current position and that of the entrenched soldiers is proving complicated with the smoke covering the battlefield after several mortor strikes. <"Shivat..."> Glancing over the edge of the divet in the ground trying to get a 'naked eye', she drops back down and shakes her head. Rifle laid on her chest, wrist computer coming up to tap in a few command lines to Zero to switch the Seeker Droid to a different visual field. <<"We...">> Trying to get her barrings, <<"Alright.. I don't have eyes. Hold position while my droid moves!">> Checking biometrics for her linked in squad, specifically regarding Ca'tra with a frown behind her heavy helmet.

<<"Good shot, Narsai.">>

Sumi pans her rifle over, and her offhand crosses her torso to cup over the buttstock pressed against her shoulder. A slow tilt of Sumi's helmet and she spots her next target. <<"Here comes the boom.">>

A second bright red lance whips across the field overhead, leaving a steaming contrail straight up to the cannister drum she struck. The result?

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!

A concussive wave sweeps the field of battle, stirring up dust, debris, and a brief flash of fire as an entire nest goes up in a sudden, towering explosion. The tremble of the concussive energy would make anyone tremble, but it made Sumi chuckle.

<<"Scratch one nest. That's a good point of advance.">>

Sumi's view of the battle is limited though, and she's not watching every advance or troop position. She pivots her weapon to the next location, her IR beam visible only to her Mando allies, gliding to her next target. <<"If you need something dropped.. just mark it for me.">>

Kryll sets up in his position in no mans land, and rolls over to use it as cover. He lines up a shot with his E-11 blaster rifle and fires off a burst of shots into the repeater nest, scoring solid hits and dropping the gunner and ammo runner, cleaning the nest of hostiles. <<Repeater nest down, lane open.>> he motions to the infantry, <"Push!">

Ca'tra was hit, Narsai had seen it, but she wasn't going to really be able to apply medicine in the midst of the raining fire, dirt and glowing death. Besides, the woman was still on her feet, that had to count for something right? Sumi's comment had earned a momentary grin, but it was already gone from her lips as she cleared the cover to engage the heavy infantry. A bolt blasts one foe, concussive force him to the dirt where he clutches his wounds inflicted by the actual 'blast' of the weapon. Technically he was still alive, but a gut shot wasn't exactly a 'lucky' thing.

Taking a crouch as she continues firing, the offer of cover directed is met with her free hand tapping her visor. Zee's orders would almost certainly take priority, but Narsai was more than happy to be working with a sniper again as her designator flagged the heavy infantry. <<Painting them. I'll draw them out, you knock them down unless someone gets back on those guns.>>

Mydas groans, pinned in behind cover. He looks out among the field of battle, and ahead of him about fifteen meters, he spots an entry ladder down into the trench-line. Utilizing the AR of his helmet, he sets a waypoint directly alongside the cover surrounding the Repeater Nest. He inches forward at a slow pace, and drops into the trench undetected.

Mydas' blaster is raised ahead of him in the event that an enemy appears in front of him as he traverses that section of the trench, and to slow his surging adrenaline, he calms himself in an odd way by thinking:

  1. There once was a maiden from Ti'mass#

Mydas traverses down another curve in the trench, keeping in mind his entry position to the trench relative to field as he entered it, as well as the waypoint that was directing him through AR.

  1. Who had her a pretty, young ass#

Down another curve of the trench, he spots a ladder and climbs it. Remembering there was cover very close to this point relative to the field, he slinks into it as soon as he reaches the top, peers over the cover, and sees Kryll's E-11 bolts obliterate one of the nests. He instead slipped into cover eight meter to his right, closing in range with maneuvering light infantry.

  1. Not pretty and pink, as though you might think#

Mydas rushed, undetected into cover to the very near east of light infantry which completely missed him. He steadied himself in the low-kneeling position and prepared to rise and rather than think, just before rising he quietly sang:

<<"But was grey, had long ears and ate grass.">>

Just as the doctor rises to follow for their second sortie across no-man's land a shot spins her around into the same hole she she just clambered out of, head first. Visor covered in mud. It takes a moment for her to stitch the sequence of events together and then another to raise her head to reorient. Using her left hand she pushes herself up to face towards the enemy's position just in time for the concussion that rocks the world.

Belatedly and unwillingly she reports over coms, << I'm hit but still with you. Doing first aid, will catch up. >> The arm of her suit is open and smoking but she edges over the lip of the hole with the blaster in her right arm and squeezes the trigger with her left making one of the people manning the heavy infantry position duck and swear.

<<"Okay, I'm done laying in this Force damn trench waiting for Zero to get in position.">> Zee has a line, once that line is reached, she kicks over from tactical into kill everything moving that isn't on her side, and she's reached the line. Except the code sucks. So here we are.

Rocketing at a entrenched Heavy Infantry group and missing like it's her job.

<<"I see the marked targets. Stand by.">> Sumi replies back to Narsai. Sumi reaches up on her scope, twisting the elevation knob slightly before lightly palm striking the optic to 'reset' it. A glance back through the sight and Sumi siezes up, flinching, because all she saw was incoming fire!

WHIP-CRACK! PEWWWWWN! WHIP-CRACK!

Bits of debris and sparks shower over the Mandalorian, but Sumi stupidly holds her position choosing to support the squad when they needed it. She did not need enhanced optics to see Zee go airborne, and the open comms keeps Sumi appraised of what's happening in the field.

When Sumi sees a pair of heavy infantry moving to reinforce their line, Sumi takes aim at center mass and squeezes the trigger. The discharge, like previous shots, crosses the expanse striking mid-torso of one heavy, then through a second behind him. The impact showers the line with gore and pink, pulverized blood that immediately evaporates into a sweet smelling steam as two lower bodies, in the form of legs, fall separate missing their upper halves.

<<"Hahaha.. two down. Acquiring new targets.">>

Kryll gets up from cover and lets his blaster rifle fall to his sling, drawing the other vibrodagger from his belt so now he holds one in each hand. He sprints forward, changing his line of approach and speed to throw off anyone tracking him for a shot. Once making the other side, he dives into an empty nest and relays that to the team. <<Kryll, I've breached the line. Engaging in close.>>

It was a good thing Sumi had answered her call, because Narsai's own shots weren't quite as successful when they infantry turns on her. She was no danger to weaving through fire, but as the weapons tore up the dirt around her and filled the air? It was enough to force the armored woman's shots wide and leave them blowing holes in scenary rather than the troops.

"<<Oya'chak!>>" Mydas announces in polite greeting to the moving light infantry when he pops up from concealment, and opens fire. His first shot goes wide, but his second catches one of the amphibious beings in the head. At that moment, he witnesses Friendly Light Infantry surging ahead and doing battle with the enemy light infantry; along with several other light infantrymen, Mydas gets back down behind cover and prepares to engage in a full-firefight.

<<"Holding 'em on the left blank as best we can,">> Mydas states into his comlink. <<"Any time both flanks are covered and the center--the big fethin' turbolaser--ain't being hit with everything you got, somewhere, a baby jetti cries. Please, make the baby jetti stop crying.">>

Not even the first aid patch was holding on Ca'tra's suit. At her first attempt to go over the top of the artillery hole she falls chest first behind a hummock. Hard. She shuts her com down, she can hear but wants no one to hear her attempts to move her dominant hand forward to fire. It has no more effect than to add to the general noise levels on the field

Switching to the laser designator clipped at the end of her rifle, Sumi answers Mydas' suggestion. <<"Designating the priority target now. Break--Break. Lady Fae, can you see it?">>

<<"Yes, Ms. Sumi. I'm on station now and prepared to fire when you give the all clear, madam.">>-- <<"Copy, stand by.">>

<<"All call signs, this is Sumi. Be advised, we have close air support on station, target priority being those damned turbo lasers. This will be loud, hunker down and hang onto to something. Danger close. I say again; danger close!">>

<<"Fae, this is Sumi. Switch your targeting computer over and fire magpulse at the designated target.">>-- <<"Yes ma'am. Coming about now.">>

The looming shadow above is the VCX-100 named Kyber Heart, her lights shining through the cloud cover as it comes in for a bombing run. Magpulse cycles into place, spooling with an audible CLUNK that's overshadowed by the roar of ramrocket engines glowing bright gold as the ship hits supersonic speeds.

<<"Target locked. Firing,">> Fae says, her voice soft and accented. The blonde Hapan squeezes the trigger, and the projectile drops. All sounds of the battle are drowned out as the ship passes overhead, earning the symphony of trees that bend in its wake when it passes by at close proximity. The massive vessel twists, angling back up toward the sky.

Meanwhile, the magpulse that dropped split, immediately igniting in a blinding flash of blue that shot HIGH into the clouds and disappeared. It did not appears that the payload would hit until suddenly it fell from the sky above the target splitting into six TSAM rocket heads that clung to the turbo laser battery, impacting with six distinctive THUNKs.

A massive electrical current follows, arching into the sky like a lightning storm, and the tower began to spark, malfunction, and shutdown.

<<"Splash. Good effect on target, Fae. Maintain a high course until we advise.">> Sumi says, chuckling shortly after. <<"Squad, be advised. Turbo lasers are down.">>-- <<"Copy that, Sumi. Maintaining present course.">>

<<"Damn that turbo has thick plating.">> Hadrix's mutter comes in over comms as the thunderclap SHOONK of his own rifle thunders like a bomb dropping a second after the crimson burst of the cannon he calls a rifle chews a black crater in the duracrete armor wall.

Heavy forces are forced low by the Mandalorian above them and the heavy pistol fire turning clay and mud to charred pottery around them. Even as weaponsfire goes wild.

Bayonets, trench knives, spades, welding torches - they're all put to use as the Gyid forces begin filling the trenches in force. The chaos forcing the defenders aim wide in the shadow of the turbo laser tower that has been forced quiet by the magnetics weapon.

Amid all that chaos, Hadrix lands with a resounding thud, placing himself between the majoring of the weaponsfire and Ca'tra,

<<"Worry about getting yourself functional, vod'ika... I'm your cover.">> bringing his rifle up and drying the muck and the mud around himself at the Mando Medic as it goes off, sending up steam and heat shimmer while the explosive sound of its' fire seems appropriate when one of the enemy directly before Zee simply ceases.

No mist.

No clothes.

Only a silhouette burned into the ground before her.

The tide is turning and the enemy are beginning to run. Hover APCs break out of the main barracks near the back of the lines and charge to bring forces into the hole in the enemy line.

Getting there is going to be problematic, but when the rockets on her pack don't fire, Zee drops her heavy blaster down into its housing and rushes across the battlefield like a bull, <<"Cover me.">> She says into comms as she sees the turbo laser going down, whoooooooooooooopppp..... And slides up towards one of the side access plates to tear free the control unit and start hooking in wires from her wrist mounted computer.

<<"Guns are coming back online...">>

<<"They're mine now.">>

Sumi shakes her head, the impact tremors and the bright flashes of magpulse electrical energy has disoriented the sniper. Any idea of what was happening on the field was lost to this sudden display of carnage. When Sumi attempted to fire an aimed shot, it missed. The impact caused a wave of dirt and mud to cascade outward, making those in the trenches clench and hunker down just a bit more. <<"Ack, damnit. They're hunkered down, I've got no joy on good targets here. Somebody paint something, I'll fire.">>

Having made his way into the trenches now, Kryll dives into any infantry still on the line. As the first trooper turns to face him, Kryll drives his right vibrodagger into his chest, pushing him back against the wall of the trench, and then uses the blade in his left hand to cut through his left arm, dropping the weapon he had in his hand to his feet. He spins, brings the troopers body in front of him like a shield and pushes deeper into the fray.

APC's? Great. Narsai didn't really have anything to pierce that without getting -really- close. Fortunately, Zee was pretty quick to present them a solution for that. Behind her helmet, Narsai's lips actually pull into a little smirk at the call. <<Zee'Roh? You're beautiful! Sumi? Wait one. I'll make them move!>>

It was about all the warning that was given before the woman in red charged forwards and the thrusters built into her armor launch her skywards, bringing her high into the skyline before she lands neatly in the middle of the hunkered men. Somewhere in the flight she'd obviously holstered her blaster pistol, because the simple but no-less sharp blade of her combat sword flashes from its sheath. Clearly the Mandalorian was intending on some 'up close' work.

Mydas holsters his pistol and draws his vibrosword. No battlecries, nothing; he simply sees light infantry ahead and swings wildly, missing with his first swing, but decapitating one of the amphibious infantrymen on his second short-arc. He spins the blade around and utters <<Dinuir ni gar runi...>> in a low hush.

The last concussion knocks the doctor back just as she gets too to her knees. "Drek it, Lady Faye, you don't want me to get up." Sighing to herself Ca'tra stays down.

Close combat, not what these people are used to, especially when one of the armored combatants runs for the turret. Soldiers leap up in surprise with Narsai lands, others are cut down by the blades of Kryll or Mydas. The mud is no longer purely churned ground, but a mire of mud mixing with loose soil. The panic is rising in the defenders, and APCs for those that have hired the Mandalorians... and one other merc rush forward as well - heading to cross no man's land.

Turns out that turning a massive turbo laser loose on close fire enemy infantry is the subject of moral ambiguity with regards to exactly how much damage that does to a sentient, biological creature. The massive duel barrel laser swivels around with a sound of whirling gears and turns the pair of beams upon an approaching reenforcement line of Heavy Infantry. When it lets loose it needn't even connect... not directly. Hitting the ground near them sends up sprays of dirt, crass, and chuncks of armor in which parts are likely still sheathed. Beneath it stands the mistress of the Turbo laser, leaning against her giant machine with an implied smirk beneath her expressionless silver-blue helmet and reflective T-visor. Arms crossed over her chest, one foot up slightly upon the durosteel of the towers massive base... the weapon above her worbbles as it draws in more energy and fires, not with the constant expulsion of tibianna gas fueled bolts, but the heavy duty destructive capability of an emplaced weapon going Mark Ham on those approaching APCs.

It becomes a route.

<<"Mercenary elements our sensors show you've broken open the trench line for us to begin cutting through. Medical is en route, you may withdraw for debrief.">>
