Uli is a small-time crook with the potential to move higher. He's a fine pickpocket and has a wandering moral compass. The only thing that keeps him from straying too far down the criminal path is his sister, Yvie.

Biography

Uli was found on a base far from the core planets, run by a holdout group of Empire citizens and military officers. There was an air battle and a ground fight as the holdouts fought nearly to the last person. He was three years old and was found in the cupboard of a makeshift residence.

At first, Uli was housed with other Republic war orphans on a military base. One by one, most of them were claimed by extended family or were adopted - all except Uli and a young girl named Yvie, whose family also couldn't be found. So, both were sent to an orphanage on Nar Shaddaa. Uli and Yvie were the only ones with confirmed Empire parentage. As children are apt to be cruel, the pair of them were ostracized, bullied and teased. They learned to stick together and became very close. Uli took advantage of the orphanage's staff's lack attention and lack of resources to get into trouble. He became a pickpocket and a grifter at the tender age of eight.

When he was nine and Yvie eleven, Yvie was adopted by a shopkeep couple. For the pair who had become as close as any brother and sister, the prospect of separation was heartbreaking. Yvie left with her new fathers. Uli followed, despite the hundreds of kilometer distance. He was brought back to the orphanage six times, before the couple agreed to also adopt Uli.

Uli's home life was stable. Although they weren't well-off, the couple wasn't poor. He was with Yvie. Still, he grew up knowing that he had been unwanted. That chip would remain on his shoulder for his entire life.

Despite the fact that Uli was a bright kid, he didn't have the best attitude and was apt to disrespect authority. As Yvie applied herself to academics, Uli got himself in trouble. He started working for small-time gangsters as muscle and as a footman. He seemed to delight in confounding authorities and worked to make money to help his sister through school. He flirted now and again with getting off Nar Shaddaa, but never actually got up the courage or the motivation to go. He has potential, but the chip on his shoulder is weighing him down.

Uli and Yvie. Not blood family, but family nonetheless.
