Force Pike Practice

OOC Date: April 23 2019
Location: Spearhead Base
Participants: Drath and Lioria Thrace

There's two training rooms on Spearhead. One, of course, is exclusive to the Knights. The other is general use, though mainly used for Vanguard training procedures on a daily basis. Regardless, Drath only actually has access to one, and as such that's where he's at. The Trooper seems to have acquired a Force Pike, though from where is anyone's guess, considering the rarity of those things. Additionally, the Trooper seems entirely terrible with a Force Pike, much to his chagrin. Currently dressed in a pair of PT shorts and a white shirt, Drath stands with the pike in a somewhat terrible stance facing a dueling droid. Drath steps forward, swinging said pike wildly at the droid, who simply parries it with ease and strikes Drath in the chest with the electrified blade on its arm, sending him to the mat below with a heavy grunt. 'Analysis: Your stance is too wide. Please try again.' said droid blurts out as it returns to its ready stance, and as Drath grumbles and pushes himself up off the mat.

That Crimson Armored weirdo ends up forgoing the Knights training area for the common one today. The figure stands by the doors even after they've closed behind them and there's a bit of a breath that rattles out through the vocoder. "The droid is right. Your stance is too wide." the voice states. "Is the Pike going to be your main melee weapon should your rifle not be usable? Or are you just brushing up on the weapons?" they ask as they approach.

Drath grumbles a little more as he stands up from the mat, practically glaring at that droid for a moment. It's kicked his ass at /least/ twenty times by now. He's just about to start again, but then a Crimon Armored Weirdo is approaching, and he pauses in his nearly useless assault to turn towards them. He's sweating a bit, but it seems he's been going at this for a little while. "Oh, well, yes. For the most part." he explains as he brings the pike up and shrugs. "There's situations where it could be useful, so now that I'm finished with pilot training I thought it'd be a good idea to learn to use melee weapons.

Lio reaches up to loosen the helm of the armor she's wearing, there's a little hiss as she does and then she's tugging the helmet off. She shakes out that mass of hair and there's a smile to Drath, "It's always good to have a backup." she admits. "Did you want someone to practice with? I brought my pike along with me." she offers to him as her bright violet gaze looks from the pike of his and then back to his face. No, all of the Knights were not so friendly.

Drath watches Lioria remove her helmet, his brows drawing together and a slight grin coming to his face as he can't help but comment. "You're not an Echani, are you? Because that wouldn't be fair to me." He waves his pike around for emphasis. "But I jest, I'd love to have someone to practice with. The droid is nice, it knows over one thousand forms of sword-based combat, but its voice is just so..." Wobbling a hand, Drath points at the droid, though it doesn't comment. "I'm DL-1991, Drath for short."

Lioria laughs softly, "No, I'm not an Echani. Though I can see why one might get that impression." she gives him a red lipped smile. "That doesn't mean that this still won't be unfair to you." she adds. "I've not been to the bases in a bit and figured it was time to come and see them." she admits. When he introduces himself there's a smile, "It's nice to meet you, Drath. I'm Knight Lioria Thrace. Governor of Coruscant." she dips her head to him. "Let me ditch the rest of this armor." she adds.

"Well I've only ever seen two Echani up close, so it was a decent enough question." DRath admits, laughing a bit in response as he turns towards the droid. "Counsular One, return to standby mode." The thing bleeps in acknowledgement, lowers it sweapon, and turns to stride back to the corner of the room, where it promptly turns around - And stares straight ahead. Creepy robot statues. "Yes, I'd heard your name, but I've never actually met you outside missions. I was the one who shot the duct on that last trip to... Well, you know, last cycle." Stupid redacted files. Bringing his weapon back up, he nods to her desire to rid herself of armor, and paces across the mat to a more readied spot.

Lioria smiles to that, "It was." she nods to that as she takes her armor off. She sits everything carefully in a pile and then picks up the bag she was carrying and fishes out the force pike. "I've been horrible with socializing as of the last few months, so for that I apologize. I've had some personal matters to attend to and after Blackrock I needed to train more on my own." she gives a look to him. "But I'm going to make an effort to be around more. For the Knights and our Vanguard members." she smiles. "Shall we?" she asks as she brings her force pike to a readied position.

"Bah, we can't all be in the same place at the same time." Drath acknowledges with a bob of his head. "Don't worry about it. It's nice to meet you now that you're around." Flashing the woman a grin, Drath brings himself into a stance one might use when firing a rifle, though with a force pike extended out before him instead. "Ugh, Blackrock." he groans, reaching up to tap at that bionic ear and metal jawline on the right side of his face. "Don't remind me. Fired one shot, then downed by a sniper. At least I was the only Vaguard casualty." Returning that hand to the pike, he nods to her, as though inciating his readiness.

Lioria gives a smile to that, "Yes, but some of the others don't understand that." she shrugs. Then she gives a shake of her head, "Sometimes battles don't go as we want them to. You at least came to the aid of your peers." she points out. She knew others that did not. When he nods though there's a sobering of her features, her eyes growing a bit bright as she moves forward almost effortlessly with the pike in her hands. She spins it once and then much like the stinging of a wasp there's a quick hit to the Trooper.

Drath sighs slowly, attempting to calm himself down from his previous exercise, but it's really no use. The man makes an admirable attempt to dodge out of the way of that shocking point, only to have it hit him in the side. He groans out in pain, swinging his own pike wildly back at Lioria, but it really doesn't even come close. Instead it leaves his hand and clatteres to the mat some distance away, causing him to sigh dejectedly and attempt to side step her own pike to go get it. "You know, when I saw the Imperial Guard using these things on the holos, I didn't think it'd be /this/ difficult."

Lioria gives him a look when the force pike goes clattering to the mat and he was right to try to dodge her next swing. Because swing she does. One of those things to make the training seem reald. The enemy wouldn't stop to let him pick up his weapon. "The guard were the top of the elite." she tells him in a bit of a grunt. "Sometimes it's good to have a goal though." she smirks.

Drath isn't idle. Anyone who has trained with Hadrix knows to keep your guard up at all times, even if you're a beginner. She almost gets him, but the Trooper breaks into a combat roll, moving out of position of the attack itself and grabbs the pike up from the mat in the process. He turns quickly then, jabbing out with it at her midsection in an attack leagues better than the first one. "It's been my dream since I was a kid in the creche." he admits with a laugh as he falls back to defend again. "I'll get there, though. Eventually."

Lioria knows what she's doing. But she's not used the pike in a long time and she ends up getting the tip of it stuck on the mat when she goes to swing again. She sighs as she has to regrip the weapon. "Act like you didn't see that." she chuckles. "I'm a bit rusty. So this will help me as well." she adds.

Drath doesn't even really have to try to dodge that one, and he attempts to lunge again to strike at her, but his form is sloppy and he ends up tripping over his other foot with a grunt. "Kriff..." the man complains. "Don't worry, I won't talk about your embaressment if you don't talk about mine." Laughing, he raises his weapon again, getting ready to defend once more. "So, how'd you end up with the Knights, anyway? Governor of Coruscant? Odd title for one, isn't it?"

Lioria is hit with the pike and there's a moment she stops, "That tingles." she muses. But there's a ring of red that starts to be seen in her eyes. That frustration was setting in. She takes a wild swing at Drath. "Well, so much for trying to teach. I'm like a toddler trying to swing this thing." she laughs.

Drath actually manages a hit! It's light, just a passing glance and a mild shock, but the shock that registers on his face causes a brief, broad grin to stretch across it. "Shavit, I actually did that. I've never hit anyone with this before. Maybe I can learn to use it properly!" Aaaaaaand there goes the confidence, along with a wide grin, as Drath takes a step back to dodge that next swing. "Nah, I'm pretty decent at getting the kriff out of the way. Just not very good at the actual hitting part." He laughs then, keeping the pike in a defensive stance in case she swings again. "So how'd you end up with the Order, anyway?"

Lioria drops the pike down and takes a knee for the moment, "Hold." she tells him. "I'll tell you. It's more than I usually tell people really." she admits. "I was brought into the Order by Dreman Bryce. I met him when I was on Nar Shaddaa and picking up a relic. He introduced me to others. I joined as a spy." she tells him. "And then we went to Kohlma over a year ago and he pushed me off of a cliff." she muses. "I was going to either die, or come back stronger...and here we are." she looks around. "I'm the Govenor of Coruscant because the Supreme Leader removed Commander Bryce from his station there and installed me due to my knowledge of the planet and so I could keep things in check there." she states.

It was her go to strike anyway, Drath usually utilizes defense over offense when he's unsure of whatever he's using at the time, so it's an easy thing to drop the pike from that position and drop to a knee with her. "Commander Bryce?" he asks with a loft of an eyebrow. "Interesting, that's a fairly involved and unusual path, but I can't really judge." Leaning over a bit, using the bottom of that pike to keep himself up, Drath takes the time to catch his breath from that bought of exercise. "So now you're the Governor of Coruscant, and a Knight, as opposed to a spy? Though I suppose you'd never lose the skillset, not truly, but..." Shrugging, Drath takes a deep breath, somewhat obviously worse at melee than she is. Even if he's getting lucky.

Lioria stands and the forcepike is powered off, "Bryce and I are unusual, yes." she sighs. "His visions were telling him things. So he did what he needed to do to make life bearable for a few weeks." she shrugs. "I don't blame him for things. Though I was very angry at the time." she chuckles. "Not to mention I'm one of the best archaeologists out there that knows about the Sith." she adds. "And no, I'm still in the spy network for the First Order. It's why I don't have an Order specific ship or anything like that." she admits. "So you were talking about the Imperial Guard. You like those guys?" she asks him.

The practice seems to be over for now, and that's probably for the best, considering the slightly red tinge he's pretty sure he saw early. Drath has seen that look before... "The Sith?" the man asks curiously. "They didn't teach us about that in the creche, and I'm not exactly... Much of a historian." Laughing, Drath twists his pike, switching the vibrating end back to its aggressive killing mode before he switches the thing off. "I've already let the Supreme Leader know, but there was a man, David Ironside, some months back that stated his suspicions of Commander Bryce being associated with the Order. Since you operate with him, you should probably know that." The question of the Guard gets a wider smile from him, however, and he nods a few times. "Yes, of course! Who wouldn't be? Their training regimen was extraordinary, and the way they fight was always so... Impressive. Not to mention the look of the armor, the strength behind a pike. It's all very alluring."

Lioria nods, "Yes, the Sith. I was taught their ways and their language since I was a baby." she tells him. "The Supreme Leader knows this. I didn't want to keep it a secret from him." she shrugs as she settles into a comfortable stance. Then there's a bit of a wary look, "We don't operate together in public. When he was on Nar Shaddaa we actually had to do a cover up where I shot him and I took his ship." she chuckles. "David Ironside, he was...well...he's always been one of those guys I avoid." she admits. Then she listens to his talking on the Guard and she gives a smile, "I have a gift for you then." she admits. "I'll just need to get it from my ship." she adds.

"What're the Sith? Is that a race? Some sort of organization like the Mandalorians?" Drath asks curiously. Of course, they're all taught a lot about Jedi, and how t maybe kill them, but the Sith haven't ever actually come up! Who knew. "Shot him?" he asks with a wide grin. "I've never met him, actually, but anyone who takes a shot for the cover of the Order is okay for me." Standing back fully from his knee, Drath swings the pike around, leaning it up against his shoulder as he gives a sigh. "Yes, he's not the most... Pleasant person to be around, I just wanted to let you know he has suspicions. He also flies a YT-1300, so you can imagine how that went over." Not very well. At the mention of a gift, he lofts an eyebrow, "Really? That reminds me, though, I have to assume you're a fan of melee weaponry? Ever seen a Ryyk blade?"

Lioria gives him a look when he asks about what the Sith are and there's a bit of hesitation, "The Supreme Leader probably does not want me telling you about the Sith given we are destroying their relics as well as the Jedi and their relics. They were a race of people, then there was the Sith Order. I'll tell you more about it at a different time." she admits. "I think if we see Mister Ironside again we could just shoot him out of the sky." she chuckles. Then there's a nod, "Yes. A gift and it doesn't explode." she admits. "And yes, I don't like blasters. Melee weapons are my favorite. And my lightsaber." she grins.

Drath backs off almost immediately at the mention of the Supreme Leader maybe not wanting him to know, with a "Of course! If the Supreme Leader would rather we didn't, I'm fine with that. I'm sorry if my questions crossed a line." Directing a happy smile at her, it's somewhat clear that's not independent thought, but you know. Child soldiers. "It doesn't explode? I didn't worry about it exploding until you said that." Drath admits, though he gives her a teasing smile as he does so. "Well, in that case, I have a number of melee weapons I collect but can't always use. If you could put one of them to use better than I, you're welcome to one of them."

Lioria raises her hand to get him to calm things, "It's just the world we live in. If you really want to know of them, I can teach you, but off the books as it were." she chuckles. "And I haven't heard of the blade you speak on." she admits. Then there's a grin, "I wouldn't blow you guys up." she tells him. "That's very nice of you. I can look over things, but I don't know about carrying more weapons." she chuckles.

"Oh! Yes, I'd love to." Drath admits, grinning slightly as he turns to start for the door. "A Ryyk blade is traditionally carried by Wookies on Kashyyyk. They've very large, and pretty heavy. I like it, I'm just not sure if I'll ever be able to use it." he admits with a slight shrug of his shoulders. "I'm fairly certain they get pretty angry if they see someone else carrying one, but..." But why care about walking carpets, right? "Lightsabers are by far my favorite melee weapon though. They're so... Well, light. No pun intended."

Lioria gives him a smile, "We'll do that then." she tells him. "And I'm not afraid of any wookies. Though I probably should be." she laughs at that. "Come on, lets exchange stuff out at the ships. I've got some downtime, but probably should sleep for a bit." she muses as she heads out with him.
