The Jedi stop at Phylos, to investigate and allow a homecoming.

OOC Date: November 6, 2015 (Optional)
Location: Phylos
Participants: Yuun, Qutha Buvu Pah, Zev and Rey as GM

Rey and her Jedi companions have arrived at Phylos, the planet where six captives are from, rescued from a prison on a neighboring planet within the same star system, and now are bringing them back home to their tribe. As their spacecraft descends upon the verdant landscape, they can see the scattered settlements of the settlers nestled amidst the natural beauty of Phylos.

As the group steps out onto the planet's surface, they are greeted with open arms by the grateful Phylosans. The rescued captives are reunited with their tribe, and the news of their safe return spreads like wildfire throughout the settlement. The Jedi are hailed as heroes, and a grand feast is to be held in their honor that very night.

As preparations for the feast begin, the Jedi are invited to join the Phylosan hunters on a hunt to gather food for the celebration. Rey and her companions eagerly accept the invitation, eager to experience the natural wonders of Phylos firsthand. Supplied with local weapons, or encouraged to use their own, the Jedi are amongst the hunters of the Phylosians. They set out into the lush forests, their senses keen as they track their prey. As they move through the wilderness, they can feel the life force of the planet pulsing all around them.

Rey is near the back, with the Chief of the tribe, observing the hunt from atop large local creatures, trained mounts, while the rest of the Hunters move through the forest on foot. The Chief speaking softly to Rey, while the Hunters prowl the shadows of their woods, the chosen target tonight is a Broadtooth Boarskin. A large pig, said to have deadly tusks that could tear apart even a heavily armored foe...

From atop her mount, Rey just quietly watches, her lightsaber hanging from her side, though her hands rest on the stirrups of the animal she's riding.

Hunters creep through the underbrush ahead, the Jedi amongst them... as they search for the dangerous Boarskins.

Eager to observe, but no hunter he, Qutha was among those near the rear of the pack. Hood down and easily astride one of the beasts, the zelosian's expression is somewhat drawn, brows knit and with a weather eye for the position of the sun. The idea of being caught out in the wilds at dusk enough to send a chill up his spine, driven by the cultural and genetic fear of darkness that his species possesses.

"Y'know, Miss Rey... What wit th'crystal Zev'd been able to scratch up when we'us out on a wander... Wunner ifn' he might could find sommat for his grip on this world, eh?" the orchardist himself having found a trove of clippings, cuttings and seeds for his own collection - the 'greenhouse hold' of his ship having been added to significantly since they'd arrived here.

"Least ifn' Th'Force has 'aught in mind for 'im t'day, reckon." a long stalk of grass tucked into one corner of his mouth, bobbing and tip-flipping while he speaks.

Yuun has not gone hunting like this before and honestly it was something new. The first thing that really catches his attention is the beauty of the planet and honestly it made him feel at peace. He really didn't want to hunt but this was the Phylosans custom so he would respect it. The Blademaster wasn't using his lightsaber, but he did have a staff with him, which was made custom, something he's not really used in a while until the last few years. It's slung behind him for now as he walks with the hunters. He wasn't using the force to hide the sound but relying on his natural skills of stealth.

He does glance around himself, looking to see where the others were. He doesn't allow his attention to slip too much but he does reach out in the force to feel if the creature they're hunting is close or not, a grin on his face.

Zev has actually been following along with the group, ears twitching and listening for the sounds that the Boarskin makes. It's supposed to have a very distinctive sound, after all. So the Lepi knows what to be listening for.

When Qutha brings up his crystal, Zev thinks for a moment or two, "You think something might be found here?" He asks, thinking he'll need to be keeping an eye out. Though he also has to wonder about the saber that was captured from the fallen Sith. Could possibly get some parts from there too.

As they move along with the rest of the tribe's hunters, Rey looks away from the Chief, who has been boasting about the importance of the hunt, how it is valued within his people, and how the Jedi are a welcome presence to observe such a tradition. Rey exchanges a look with Qutha, before she smiles back to the Chief then. "I am sure." She softly responds to him.

Up ahead, the tribe's hunters prowl through the forest, sometimes audible calls are sent out where hunters emulate the sounds of the local fauna, which may draw attention toward some of them.

Yuun, on the hunt, will be the first of the Jedi to see something unfolding up ahead. A group of what was three hunters, with now only two huddled around a sloping decline in the forest floor. One of them is waving back toward Yuun's position to come quick!

"Something comes." The Chief says as he glances to Rey, and Qutha. "Let us investigate!" And with that, he pulls on the reigns of his mount's harness and starts to move faster up ahead. Rey is soon to follow, sitting up a little more attentively on the mount now, as she rides after him, her own mount rushing through the foliage thick upon the forest floor!

"Sommat could be found aught anywhere, the grips as pers'nal as the crystal... As much'a anythin' of the saber. Jus' depen's on what calls out to ya, Zev"

Clucking his tongue and giving a 'HEHP' to his mount, sending it after Rey and the Chief, the zelosian takes off after with a tip of his head and and lean in his saddle. Standing, partially, in the stirrups with knees bent to absorb the shock from the beasts movements, Qutha looks out ahead with a twitch at the corner of his mouth.

"Oh bother."

The comment huffed out and the head of the BD droid that travels with the orchardist pops up from his hood, twiddling and trilling in a questioning tone,

"No... no. Not you."

The responding blat unmistakably annoyed.

Yuun crouches with the two hunters in his group, and as he looks down, he sees the third waving towards him and the others. The Blademaster looks to the other two and nods his head and he slowly starts to make his way down. He didn't want to rush down, that would mess up their group. He did take the time to admire how they worked together. Something to think on later.

Once down where the other hunter is, he does move to where he is and gestures for him to show him, though before he does that, he looks back to make sure the other two hunters are on their way down. Taking his que from the hunters, Yuun looks to see what's happening.

The chief seems to sens something, so Zev starts to focus on finding the source of what the Chief has found. The Lepi pauses in his step, and starts to listen. The direction he finds is...Not certain. A quick frown as he motions in the direction he thought he heard the sound, "I think this way.." He says, though he is clearly not certain in the way he says it.

Yuun being up ahead, is the first to arrive, and thusly he finds a slope that dips down rather sharply to a lower shelf within the forest floor. One of the tribal Hunters is down upon that shelf, and he's waving up at the others, making quiet noises and signaling up ahead toward the underbrush...

But there doesn't appear to be anything there, to the untrained eye. It would take a very keen eye to spot whatever it is that the Hunter is trying to point out...

The Chief arrives then at the top of the foliage-covered slope, along with Rey and the others with them. Rey is scanning the foliage at the base of the natural decline in the ground, but she doesn't seem to see whatever is being indicated...

Suddenly there's a squealing shriek as something bursts from a bush beside where Zev is, it charges at him, its huge tusks snapping at the young Jedi!

One of the Tribal Hunters shouts out and aims his archery weapon at the creature, but he doesn't fire, not with the Jedi being right there! He just calls out a alarm which starts to roll through the rest of the hunters through the forest, hoots and hollaring echoing amongst the ambience of the woods!

Beasts as a threat keys up something primal in the Zelosian, his people often at the mercy of such creatures on their homeworld. Their natural predators nocturnal to take advantage of the flora people's night blindness. The prospect of night travel being stalked by a beast that could be at arms reach of you and being only able to hear it if your lights failed or the moon was less than full.

Right hand snapping out in a quick series of gestures, Qutha's face blanches - the effect making it look a pale green like a seasick traveler before he gathers up the currents of the force and drives them like a lash for the beast. One strike to drive the massive porcine beast off course in its charge, another intended to drive it to the ground and a third attempting to roll it onto its side.

All the while he strains to acknowledge his fear. Let it wash over him like wind, rather than embrace it, trying to keep it from planting its seeds to keep him calm and focused. Intent on what he feels he needs to do, not what instinct wants him to do. Or what the Dark Side tempts that he could be capable of, if he would only listen.

Seeing the swift attack that came from the creature towards Zev, catches Yuun by surprise as he didn't see the creature and he wasn't trying to use the force in this way but maybe this was a mistake. As he begins moving quickly as he sees the porcine looks to be held down. This is a hunt and as he sees the creature he doens't connect with it through the force, he spins his staff with a effeincy that belies his skills as he bring the metal staff down along the weak point of its neck. Even though this is a hunt, he wasn't looking to make this creature to suffer, that would be cruel and evil for that to happen.

As he sees this creature take it's breath, he walks over waiting for it to finish and once it passes into the force, he rests a hand on the creature, "Go with the force." he says in a low tone as he says a small prayer over the creature and after a moment he steps away from it.

It's an issue when you're focusing on something else, because Zev's ears are not pointed at the direction that the boarskin comes from. He yelps in surprise and his feet dig in and he jumps backwards. He hasn't even had time to react outside of jumping back before Qutha and Yuun have swept in and taken care of the beast before the young Lepi is able to even draw his weapon.

He takes a few moments to check himself, before looking towards the beast as it is silenced, "Thank you." He silently chastises himself for missing the beast before it was almost too late.

More of the hunters arrive to watch the boar get finished off by Yuun, after being held down by some mystical force. Only the Chief really got a good look at the use of the Force though, and his eyes do wander over to Qutha to take the man's presence in a little more closely. How could he know Qutha was commanding it though? Call it a hunch... call it seeing Qutha's body language. Either way, his eyes go to Rey too, for just a moment, before finally he looks to Yuun who did the killing blow.

"Well done, young traveler." The Chief states, about to speak further when something moves in the underbrush further out.

Something big, bigger than the red boarskin...

Qutha and Yuun will see it, just before it bursts from the foliage and starts to charge at some of the village Hunters!

It's a massive grey skinned boar-beast, furry and fangs the size of long daggers! It lunges at one of the Hunters, with its shrieking wails echoing loudly through the forest, sending avian creatures fluttering from tree branches in to the sky above!

"Oh dear."

The braying monstrosity on the heels of the other has Qutha attempting to maintain the reigns of his mount when it rears, emerald eyes wide and his hand snapping out a second time with the intention of slowing the beast. Something to give the other hunters time to recover from any shock of the arrival, to get their bearings.

There's a ripple in the creature's flesh, as if it had been slapped and the Zelosian is trying to calm his mount with a 'Woah! Woah!' before it is up on its hind legs again and Mr. Pah is sent tumbling to the ground with a rush of air forced from his lungs, cloak falling in a heap atop and around him.

Yuun readies his weapon, happy to see that the hunter wasn't skewered. He quickly glances to his sides to see how the hunters are lining up. Seeing the creature slowing, "Move in now!" he calls out out. Yuun taking point as he quickly rushes towards the Boarksin, running low to the ground, leaning forward with his staff angled backwards behind him, with it resting along his back as he moves. Still not using force enhance speed, though his agility is a little better.

He sees the large creature stumble, "Fan out!" he calls out to the hunters as he closes in he snaps his staff around, going for one of its legs. He spins the weapon and slams it towards it's left front leg, he quickly jumps up and over to the front of the creature to attempt to slam the creature with his weapon again, but is surprised when he misses. Still he spins and looks to the creature's eyes and he gives it a bow of his head.

This beast is not the kinda thing that one should take lightly. Zev reaches down to his side and draws his stunsaber, the weapon glowing white. While Yuun manages to land several hits, Zev's attacks are deflected as the beast's massive tusks take the hit from the saber.

The Lepi hops backwards, trying to move off and around to the side of the creature, figuring perhaps he can get a better angle of attack from the flank.

With the massive grey boarskin on a rampage out of the forest underbrush, a chaos sets in over the hunters, and the Jedi there-in. There is shouting in the local language, as well as a few words in Basic. There are people raising their bows up, but not firing to avoid hitting one of the people close to where the boar is. Some shots do take aim and let loose, but they're off target and vanish in to the bushes.

The boar slices at one of the villagers who tries to come in with a metal spear, only to cause the hunter to stammer backward and be caught by two of his hunting partners...

Rey, watching the situation unfolding, reaches out with her good hand, and runs a quiver through the Force to push the Boar away from the villagers, causing it to change its attack on to the Jedi again, sadly this results in it getting a good hard run at Zev!

The Chief reaches over his shouldr to unstrap his slug rifle, and slips down off of his saddle. Rey is quick to follow now, throwing one leg over the saddle and jumping down near to where the Red Boar was put to rest... She draws her saber, in her metal hand, but does not yet ignite it as she starts to move rapidly toward the others!

Rolling to his feet and moving towards the creature, Qutha lets instinct kick in - much to his own chagrin. Zev was on the brunt of a charge and other villagers. His hand drew the collapsible staff that had come with him from Zelos II so many years ago - rather than letting the saber drop from its place in his sleeve.

"Curious..."

It's a momentary reflection before he thrusts, only to have the end of his old defense weapon smashed aside with a jarring buzz of vibrations that shoot up to his shoulders and rattle his teeth.

"Zev? Kin y'hear me?"

Ground being torn up to one side of him, the orchardist tries again, closer but with no greater success save that this time he is rebounded hard enough to make his boots dig grooves in the ground.

Yuun sees this getting a bit out of hand but now they really have a fight on their hand. Seeing the hit Zev takes, and seeing teh others come to attack the boarskin, Yuun rushes to where Zev is, his staff flashing as two rapid strikes comes in from opposing directions. Just like when he uses a lightsaber, the staff is an extension of Yuun. The weapon whistles through the air, both attacks missing. Yuun doesn't let off, he spins back, wanting to hope his missed strikes causes the creature to back away of not charge in towards them.

The Lepi's attack hitting those tusks was a big mistake, as a moment later one of the tusks catches Zev in the side and throws him through the air and against a tree.

There's a cry of pain from the rabbit but he gets back up to his feet, "I'm still alive.." He replies to Qutha, the pain in his voice clear, and blood visible on his robes. But he's still trying to close the distance between himself and the boarskin, but the clumsy saber swing clearly showing he's too hurt to fight.

"Zev!" Rey calls out as she sees the rabbit get violently attacked like that. She sweeps around some of the hunters who are firing arrows at the boar, only to arrive right as the Chief fires off a shot from his rifle that bursts through one of the boar's fangs, but is deflected by it in to the forest's floor!

With a snap-hiss of her golden bladed lightsaber, Rey arrives on scene, just as the boar strikes at her! She deflects the attack away, then strikes swiftly, and repeatedly.

The boar's tusks are severed from its snout, followed by the boar's front legs, and then finally, with a downward strike, she severs its head from its shoulders, leaving her saber angled down toward the ground, as the massive boar body tips over, and then thuds in to the soft earth below.

A silence falls over the forest then, as the Hunters look on at the Jedi gathered around the boar's body, at the glowing lightsaber blade held by Rey, and after a moment of just taking in the death dealt by that saber, by Rey's hand, the Chief steps forward.

"Well done, Jedi." He says, holding his rifle to the side. "That... that was a unexpected foe. The Razorteeth rarely come this far south from the mountains." The Chief states while crouching in front of the boar's severed head. "I am sorry to have not mentioned the sheer possibility of it even... we haven't seen one of these in... half a decade's time."

Rey deactivates her saber, and is already on her way over to where Zev was to check on him. "It seems we have a ability to draw out the most dangerous of enemies, wherever we go." Rey says back to the Chief before she reaches Zev's location to crouch and place her good hand on his shoulder. "Are you alright?" Rey asks him, looking over his wounds.

The Chief watches, but then looks to Yuun and Qutha. "Well done, this could have gone far worse, I believe. Tonight though... tonight we dine on the King of the Boars... because of you. This is a good omen. You brought our people back, and now you've conquered the King of the Razorteeth...."

The others around him cheer lightly before they start to move in to help Zev, and gather up the carcasses of the two fallen boar.

Watching the people gather up the bodies, as well as Zev, the Zelosian leaves the carcasses to others, approaching Zev and collapsing his spear along the way,

"Could be worse, reckon... My first big t'do... Done got shot right in the gut. Don' 'member much for the next couple'a days... But I kin sees what kin be done, gitcha t'rights soon as we kin, y'hear?" offering to help take the lepi's weight, to lead him back to his mount that has taken to the absolute back of every part of the party. Snorting and stamping a foreleq.

Qutha grunts some to himself, seeing the beast and his BD unit ambling towards him as well, tweedling curiously anew.

Yuun was getting ready to get back into this fight but once the creature is taking down by Rey. He bows his head to her, "Thanks." he says to her. He walks over where the grey boarskin is, even with it's head detached, he speaks quietly, "Go with the Force." he says as he bows his head. He then sheaths his weapon and move to assist Zev, "Hey you need help getting back?" he asks the Padawan.

After everyone rushes over to assist him, Zev puts the stunsaber back away. The fight's gone out of the Lepi, and he seems more than happy to let Qutha help take up most of his weight, "Was bound to happen..Sooner or later. Thank you, again." He replies to Qutha, listening to his story about getting shot, "That sounds awful." He says, as he holds his hand on his side, to help keep his poor blood inside.

He gives a quick look at the carcass of the boar. At least it'll make for a good meal. Zev could use the food to help him heal up, no doubt. He'll need to try to keep the lesson from this fight in mind when he encounters something like this in the future. "I think Qutha has me, but thank you." He replies to Yuun. Though Qutha probably wouldn't be opposed to the extra hand, Zev figures.

Later that evening...

As the grand feast on Phylos reaches its peak, the Jedi companions find themselves surrounded by the warm hospitality of the grateful Phylosans. They are treated like true heroes, regaled with stories of the tribe's history and traditions, and showered with gifts and praise.

The feast is a true spectacle, with a bounty of food and drink laid out in the open air, and the aroma of roasted meats and fresh vegetables filling the air. The Jedi revel in the festivities, sharing laughs and stories with their new friends, and feasting on the succulent meat of the Grey King Razorteeth boar they helped hunt earlier. Meanwhile, Zev the Rabbit is given the best medical care the village can provide, and is well on the road to recovery.

But as the night wears on, the Chief pulls Rey aside, his face etched with worry. He has a troublesome situation that he believes only the Jedi can aid the village with, and he begs her for her help...
