Rey meets with the Jedi following Chandrila's fall

OOC Date: November 6, 2015 (Optional)
Location: Tempes
Participants: Rey, Finn, Yuun, Galen Dawnstar and Qutha Buvu Pah

It is night time on this part of the planet. Tempes is bathed in a blanket of thick cloud cover, and snow is falling lightly from the dark sky, as much as every other average night on this cold world.

At the heart of the Outpost a fire burns brightly and those within the Outpost who still call it home have gathered together for a bit of a somber memorial. Many of the Jedi have not checked in since the Sith and Republic clashed together, some were reported to have been lost, while others are now just missing in action, and everyone knows that they are presumed dead as well.

These things are hard to be sure of, even with the Force as your ally....

Rey is near to the fire, wearing a full Jedi hooded attire, her heavy exterior robe held around her form, the hood is up, but it's only laying halfway over her head, her face is bathed in the light from the fire. She's holding both of her children, both wrapped up in bundles to keep them warm as well, as the trio sits upon one of the many benches resting around the firepit.

Some members of the remaining order have bowls of stew held in their laps, spooning some of the delicious food up to further help them stay warm on this chilly night.

Rey's eyes look around at the others, she shows them a slightly smile when some of the younger members regard her, one of them, Qassa Starhawk, approaching to take one of the twins from Rey to hold them and sit beside the fire as well now.

"I know that there are many worries, many fears of what is to come." Rey says then, more eyes going to look upon her now, even a few of the Wookiee guards are here, standing around the perimeter of those gathered here tonight.

"Ben and Chewbacca have gone to Kashyyyk. Ben wanted to help defend the world from any fallout from what has happened... I told them it was wise to go, but that the rest of us had a duty to remain here. The Jedi Order requires that we be vigilant in our need to stay put, stay safe... it is how we protect the Order, and protect the galaxy, in the long run. We would risk our annihilation if we rushed off to face what is happening out there tonight... I hope that you can see this."

Everything is always at night... It's a good thing he learned early as he could how to adjust his eyes to see through the currents the force would allow him, to avoid the need for goggles or glowrods all the time. Seated, eating quietly, "I fear nothin' Rey, for all of this's as t'Force wills it." said with conviction, the mentality of the Guardians of The Whills firmly imprinted on the young man.

"But caution is the better part of action now. There's too many shadows to be lept at from. Too many things that could not be forseen, now is a time to watch and prepare."

Spooning up more stew up, brow knitting in thought, "We have to begin looking for those gifted and begin training them. Hope that those we meet to bring them in don't resist, as the Sith will simply take them."

Yuun was here, he wanted to go out and help but so many of the people he worked with were already gone. He warred with leaving Tempes, the Jedi would survive without him, they had Rey. Yuun didn't leave, those he looked up to were already gone. He thought he had gotten over Leia taking Aryn as her Padawan. At times he felt like he had been skipped over, still he was not one to keep thigns on his mind. He thought about it, but still at times like this, you think about what you could do, what you should be doing.

When the gathering is called, Yuun made his way there. Wearing warm robes, heavy. He stood near one of the walls, he watches as people make their way here and as Rey speaks. He sees her holding her children. His eyes then go over all the others and he listens. Too many people are gone, and as Qutha speaks up, he looks at the Padawan, he then looks over to Galen.

"Believe me I know how you feel Galen." he says to the Padawan. He then looks to Qutha, "We're not like the old order taking people from their families either. People come to us as they please. If they wish to learn, we will teach. But now we have to be even more careful as there is no doubt the Sith will want to draw us out or have someone infiltrate us to gauge our strength." he sighs as he looks to Rey. "I've almost left twice because I do feel we should be doing something to help. To many people we've helped are either dying, running and in need of help. I also know the decision to stay here is a hard one as well. We have to gather our strength, we don't know what the future holds, the future in motion it always is." he says remembering the lessons from Yoda's holocron.

"We will need to bide our time and be vigilent, those of us still here, need to train, and train hard, but also not become like our enemies." he looks over to Rey, "What're we doing once Ben and Chewie get back?" he asks.

Qassa cradles one of the children in her arms, sitting beside Rey to the Paragon's right. The teenager looks up and over at the Jedi who speak, and she just quietly listens, like the others of her age group who all sit together off to one of the sides of the fire pit. Some of the Wookiees are just quietly murmering to themselves, not all of them great at understanding Basic, and needing to ask questions here and there.

Rey draws in a breath, still holding one of the two children that she and Poe had a couple months gone by now.

"We are doing something." Rey says to Galen. "Every time you get a little better at a new element of the Force. Every time that you reach a little deeper within yourself, and push yourself to become better. You're helping. Maybe not in the way that your heart is yearning for right now... but you're still preparing. You're still making an effort to fight back against what is happening out there right now. The future is when we'll strike out, it is our chance to slip through the shadows and find those who need help. That is the role the Jedi Order has to play now. We cannot overcome all the darkness spread across the galaxy, we simply have to use that shadow to our advantage. That's how we'll spread the light, by finding those who will wish to band together with us, to push back against the villainous. I'm... sorry, if this isn't the answer in the moment, that you feel for. But it is the wisest approach to this level of danger that we're being opposed with now. Every thing we do here, on Tempes matters though. The training, the patience, the confidence to improve ourselves. It matters. It is the catalyst to spark the light, not today, but tomorrow."

"Ain' doin' naught when yer survivin'. Keepin' this from being snuffed out." green eyes going to Yuun, "N'I know we don' take youngin's t'train, I been here a spell n'I was recruited by folk who done spotted me in the wild, so t'speak." mouth drawing into a line, "Trainin's good n'all. But one could still go out there, he'p folk ss they find. Y'ain' gotta do none brave fool thing, rushin' out in a blaze'a glory. Li'l things matter jus's much as any would."

Said after Rey's explanations, bowl set down and his hands folding in his lap, "T'Force ain' tellin' me to just sit here, train n'study. I know I'll be gittin' out there, doin' as I need. T'ain' likened t'be fightin' causes yet, not from the front lines, reckon." lower lip pushing out while his tongue runs behind it, thinking.

"Mos've us'r dead. Naught a reason t'deny it, obfuscate. Tha's just fear takin' a shiny new suit tryina look like optimism. Mos've the res've us gotta hide, some've us kin git out there, do little goods. So that's jus' what we gotta determin' for ourselves. I know if mos' folk saw Miss Rey out yonder, they'd get mighty riled up, f'good or bad." hands seeming to move of their own accord back to his bowl, to grab his stew and resume eating, "Yuun, like has'ta stick near the Rim... Me? Mid-Rim n'out... Galen here's the only one'a us what kin git closer to the core than the lot of us. Do some good where he can... That's how we maintain hope."

Galen nods as he listens to Rey, "Studying and training is great and will help us in the long run for sure. But as Qutha said we can do some good and not go out in a blaze of glory. Even if it's helping get refugees off planets." He shrugs as he tucks his thumbs into his belt, "I just wish we could do more. Even if it's from the shadows ourselves."

Yuun doesn't speak up, he is just taking everything in, and even though Qutha speaks to him, Yuun looks to you Padawan for a long moment and smiles a little. He then looks to the others, just allowing himself to muse just a little at the words directed at him, and the words that Rey says. He lets out a breath letting the smoke release from his nostrils

Finn steps down out of one of the side buildings, wearing his Jedi attire, and a medium length leather jacket over top of them, he makes his way to where the others are at a light jog. Tapping one of the teens on the shoulder, he gets them to scoot over before he reaches out to grab himself a bowl of the hot stew. Finn listens to what the others are saying, and after a sampling taste of the food he drops the spoon back in. "We'll definitely do what we can, where we can. There's no question about that." Finn chimes in, speaking confidently as he glances at Rey, then back toward the others. "This is about striking where they least it expect it now. But, we're the good guys, that's always gotta be what our focus is. The bad guys can't beat us, because they're fools, they'll always be fools too. Our job is to just not be foolish ourselves, and then... we'll win. It's that simple really." He says, showing a sly grin.

A nod is given to what Finn says, along with a return smirk for him. Rey just casts her eyes around everyone else as they continue to just sit by the warmth of the fire, or enjoy the dinner here tonight. "Not be fools ourselfs. It's that simple." She confirms what her oldest friend says. "Also, I want to re-iterate that nobody is required to stay here. We will let you leave, if simply you ask it. This Order, what we're doing, is entirely of our own volitions. But those more capable of setting out safely, we will need to do just so, to continue to acquire supplies, and the essentials to keep our Outpost alive here."

Rey glances to Finn, then to Qutha, and over to Galen and Yuun. "Ben and Chewie are off helping the Wookiees. When they return, we'll work on plans for how best to setup a network of acquiring what we need. We will also begin the process of finding new allies, there are many out there who will not align with the Sith. There will be no shortage of potential new friends... especially with every heinous act the Sith do to obtain their false sense of control. That process alone, and the chilling level with which they are willing to sink to, will always make the best people rise up to overcome it."

She shows a light smile then. "So for those of us who do venture out, keep your eyes open, keep your senses sharp. Trust in the Force, and let it guide you to what we'll need to push back..."

Bobbing his head, Qutha's expression remains calm - serene even in light of the dire circumstances of their meeting, "Don' reckon'd I'd be a mind t'leave. Got too much t'do N'I don't see no reason t'jump ship. Like I said 'fore, we're here for a reason, n'the Force is pushin' us 'long f'what it needs've us."

A few breaths thought are gained, chewing a spoonful slowly before he continues at last, "Things'r outta balance. They went one side t'far, now s'overcorrectin'... Then it'll swing back n'we git t'be the ones who done have'ta make sure it don't git too off on the otherside. Otherwise it'll jus' keep at it, like a see-saw where the kids're too keen t'jump an not just sit a spell t'see what happens."

Galen Dawnstar simply nods and listens for the moment not having much else to say.

Mike looks up to Finn and smiles seeing his friend, it has been a bit since he's seen Finn. "Hey Finn." he says to him. "Yeah we are the good guys." he says agreeing. He does agree with Qutha as well. He lets out a breath, letting his frustrations go, it's not going to help him here. "We need to be ready and we will need to count on one another." he says. He chuckles a little bit, "I guess with some of the losses I've felt, I'm sure we all have felt, doesn't feel good is all." he says. Jax hit him hard, he trained with him since he first started, then on top of that, others are gone, he closes his eyes and allows himself to breath and let the force flow through him.

More of the provided dinner is enjoyed by Finn, using his wooden spoon to scoop it up, blow gently upon it, and then sample what was there. When he lowers the spoon down again though, he dabs at the tip of his nose with the back of his hand. "That's right. Allies. We're going to need'em. But we're gonna get'em too. The Republic made a mistake when they pushed the Jedi aside. I know that's a dead Wampa that nobody wants to kick anymore, but it's the damn truth too. We aren't gonna be beholden to the Republic, not any Republic. But the Jedi still fight for the freedoms of all to be, to live, and to love. That's the point of what we're doing here. We gotta strengthen up, get another deep wind in our lungs, then be there, for the people. For Mon Calamari. For every other world that these kind of tyrants think they can wipe away. We're gonna show'em that they can't, not without push back."

Finn glances to some of the younger ones off to his left side. "Ya'll are gonna help too. Heck, you'll be twice the Jedi we are." He says to them with a half smirk then.

Yuun looks up to Finn and smiles seeing his friend, it has been a bit since he's seen Finn.

Rey's eyes had fallen to the child in her embrace still, tucked up against her side in her left arm, the kid was awake but was just quietly resting there. She looks over to Yuun and dips a little nod of her head toward him. "No one will be forgotten, and maybe some of them are still out there... and if so, we'll find them, and help them return to us. But some are gone, and not returning... which is a element of this life we're living, we've chosen. It is a hard life, but one with great reward, I think."

Rey glances then to Finn, and to the teenagers of the Jedi Order, one of whom stands up, holding a tray of wooden figurines. "Now?" She asks. Rey laughs softly and nods her head toward the young 'Olaa'. The girl steps toward the fire pit then and sets the tray down on its stoney edge. She picks up a pair of tongs that she clamps together a few times before she clutches one of the wooden figurines with them. "These--" Olaa speaks up, the young Human female starts. "Are Angel Callers. They're from my native world of Molur. We burn them when a loved one passes, and the light that shines from the fire will show the spirit where to find us, so they'll always know where home is." She explains, as she starts to set the first figurine in to the flames. It starts to burn quickly, but the girl is soon setting others in along side it, up so that they're able to stand on their own still within the flames.

When Olaa finishes setting each one inside the fire pit, she steps back with the tray.

"These are so that our friends, and our fellow Jedi, know we are here, waiting for them." She states.

What comes next is a series of lights glowing within the figurines until each one starts to pop open and a beam of brilliant color shoots up straight in to the sky, creating columns of light for each Jedi who has vanished, passed, or has yet to come home.

Rey watches, she looks up to the sky, where the columns of light shine. "For our friends." She says quietly.

The rising glow and the bursts of color cause Qutha to lean towards each in an almost twitching motion. No discomfort in his features, but then he doesn't even seem fully conscious that he is doing it. Only that there is bright light and something draws on him for it.

"Ain' gone, when yer in the Light n'The Sun can be yer beacon." lifting his bowl in lieu of a glass or otherwise, "Wander on home, folk. We'll be here, one way or t'other." head tilting to one side, one hand coming from his stew bowl to scratch at the scruff on his cheek, gemstone coloured eyes raptly on the figurines still.

"Mayhap someday we'll git a little guidance from aught who could give it. Reckon."

As the lights come on for the fallen, Yuun stands up fully and offers a bow of his head, he listens to Rey's words and he looks to her. He meets her eyes and offers a small smle and he looks up at the lights. Letting out a breath, he hears Qutha's words and he hears Finn. He nods his head, "We will be alright and I agree, the New Republic made a mistake, but now we will do what we must. I feel we will get greater allies but we watch who we let it as well." he smiles

Finn was watching Olaa setup those effigys in the fire pit. "Careful there. You want some help?" He asks the girl, who quickly shakes her head at his offer. "Suit yourself..." He shoots back before scooting over to sit beside Qassa and the Poe-spring she's holding. "Hey there, little fella." Poe says. "It's your uncle Finn here." He tells the kid, reaching up to poke at the kid's chin before he looks up to Qassa. "This is the boy, isn't it?" He asks the girl who just shushes him and nods to the fire.

Finn watches as the lights are going now, and he looks up to where they shine. He sees Yuun stand up, and so he stands up too, still holding a bowl of stew in one hand. He watches the colors dance up toward the clouds high above, and draws in a breath of the cold Tempes air.

"May the Force be with them..." Finn quietly adds to what the others are saying.
