Anakin turns back from the dark side

OOC Date: September 9, 2020
Location: Death Star
Participants: Tallie Lintra, Jax Greystorm, Elrych Cometburn, Crash Tommaz, Zandra Namuriel, David Ironside, Callax Dalso

Schwoom. Schwooooom. Schwooooom. Rogue Squadron almost at full strength raced towards it's objective. The Prison. The myriad of fighters had kept a rather elevation and traveled at Super Sonic speeds given how far into First Order territory their target was. So far, Republic Intelligence had been right on the mark. Sensors clearly showed that all Anti-Air, Save for two right next to the Generator, were down. The shields had also been weakened so that bypassing them wouldn't be an issue. The operation had multiple parts. The Republic knew that the First Order wouldn't just allow the Republic Army to move in and take the Prison - so as soon as the shields were down, The Republic Marines would swoop in along with Anti-Personnel weaponry to keep the First Order Busy.

Rogue Squadron quickly bypassed the First Order Shields - it giving very little resistance to their entrance. The Prison was approaching fast and already they could see the lights in the installation go from a pale yellow - the red klaxons as their fighters would finally be picked up on sensors. Though, for all the ruckuss that could be seen below - their would be little the soldiers could do - with their main batteries down.

<<"Rogue Squadron this is Rogue Leader. Sound off. Watch each other backs. This could be a rough one.">> Lintra voice crackles over coms as she eases the throttle back. Behind them on the ground the boom of their passage rattles windows. Rolling the X-Wing to port, she accelerates down toward their objective, the Prison. Behind the T-85, the squadron's mix of fighter craft fly in formation. "Fiver, keep a wide sweep out for incoming."

<<"We are ground-pounding till they are softened up per the briefing. Stay alert for incoming.">>

Jax was piloting, an A-wing as Rogue 9. He was flying close to Callax's Y-wing Serving as Rogue 10. "This is a trap. Everyone's got to know that right." He seems to be talking to the holocapture of Sesti clip to his cocpit next to a one of his gauges. Then he hears Rogue Leader request, <Rogue 9, reporting in. I'm watching the sky.>

The sleek form of an E-Wing slipped into formation with the other craft of Rogue Squadron. At the stick was one Corellian Jedi; Elrych Cometburn. <<"Rogue Four here and ready, Lead. The Feelers are out there.">>

Of Course it was a trap, what else would they be doing here if it wasn't. This caused Elrych to smile with a bit of glee. Perhaps he was enjoying this a bit too much.

Slowly building string plucking is heard in Crash's ears as he follows the squadron in. <"I'll do my best to keep them off you Fancypants."> he says towards Callax, waggling his stubby wings in salute before twisting his stick and pressing both foot pedals to lift the A-Wing upwards over the Y-Wing in covering formation.

In an A wing, Zandra chimes in with << Rogue 5, reporting in. Keeping watch on sensors and in the sky. >> She takes a deep breath, reaching for the Force, and her own smile crosses her face as she hears th eothers chiming in. << Teamwork. >> is all she adds to her list so far. Though at the moment, she's holding her A wing back, staying in formation with the other ships, and she's not the only one, awaiting the moment colloquially known as go time.

David is in an X-Wing, as he prefers, the cockpit silent apart from the ambient sounds and comm chatter. Certainly no mood-setting music. <<"Rogue 8, staying alert. I miss you already, Rogue Leader.">> he comms to his former wing leader, recently promoted. He drums his fingers on the flight stick casually, no need just yet for the death grip. Even if it's not a trap, it's not like the First Order is just gonna let Rogue Squadron do what they want unopposed.

In the rearward part of the formation, Callax Dalso - whom one would b forgiven to think only flew interceptors or strike fighters, born in an X-wing cockpit from errant seafoam - is flying that most ancient and faithful of Republic craft, the Y-wing. Quietly they go through the switches on the boards one last time, ensuring all weapons read green. << Rogue Ten, >> they announce, << Preparing for my bombing run. If you can, please ensure I remain in one piece until at least after I can treat our First Order friends to a proper light show. >> Checking the instrements one more time, Callax shifts their head a bit in the confining bucket that goes with the old Koensayr beasts, and toggles the intercom to Babo, who sits far back in the ship's center spar.

"Shields double front, darling. I expect we're going to get all sorts of interest at this little soiree."

<<This is Rogue Leader. I will be hammering the generator while you engage the TIE/SF and the Defenders.">> Dropping out of formation, she opens the S-foils wide, heading straight into the objective. Twin cannons light the generator's shields, leaving a red bloom as they take damage from the T-85's lasers.

Rogue 9 breaks formation, < 9 here, I'm engaging Assasin 2. Great we got a funny man.> Jax says as his A-wing pulls up and in a long arch and hitting it's after burners. The cross hair turning gold as he picks up his target. Then pulling the trigger and fires upon stealth fighter leaving it's shields heavily hit. <They think they trapped us in here with them. They don't realized they've trapped themselves with us.>

"Hah... listen to this guy, Eggsy... you getting this?" Elrych asks the Astromech settled tightly in the droid socket behind the cockpit. The R2 Unit whistles something causing the Jedi to laugh. "I know... he's worse than Malik... oh man. I just feel bad for all these creepy dudes."

He flips the shields to an even spread, turning to follow Tallie on her run. <<"I'm ignoring the loud mouths... on your six, Lead... let's get the job done.">> Meaning he was going to focus on the Generator with her and dodge through the enemy fire. There'd be plenty to pick off after the generator was defunct.

Spinning as he charges forward, Crash does his best to draw attention. This is facilitated when he blazes away with lasers and splatters a few shots off of the shields of a TIE. Shielded TIE's are just unfair! But he is grinning, gobdy bouncing to the music as he gets into the zone.

Orders given, Zan replies with a simple << 5, roger that.>> She targets one of the defenders, their systems synchronizing on bogey naming so she can hit her throttle, the a-wing fwoooming ahead as the power in its engines is released. They're not bothering to answer that voice - they knew it was a trap. Old news, that. Instead, they try to show that they have come to play. << Defender 2 in my sights, >> she says. << Let's keep them off the backs of the big guns. >> She pulls a tight turn, and comes out of it, lazers firing as she gets her targeting system reticule to go green and lets poor defender 2 have it.

<<"I'm with you, Zan. Birthday Girl.">> David comms, checking on the squadron's sole Y-Wing before breaking to join in Zandra's maneuver. She's in an A-Wing, sure, but David's a pretty capable pilot (just ask him) and keeps up handily. <<"We'll keep the baddies off your bomber, Ten.">> he assures the bomber's pilot, following up Zandra's strafing run with one of his own, blowing the stealth fighter's cockpit apart and sending wings flying in opposite directions. Janitor, indeed. <<"Scratch that one.">> he reports.

Whilst the pilots are tangling with the starfighters, and a few soften up the generator complex, Callax locks their sights on the target of the hour - what they brought the wishbone for in the first place, the generator. << Rogue Ten, >> they intone over comms, chopped up into mechanical syllables through encryption, << Executing bombing run. >> The ship plunges like a steel-shouldered angel, angry and sure, executing an incredibly low dive only to pull up a hundred meters before the complex - and as it pulls away, drops a salvo of glowing crimson proton bombs over the generator array. Bloody will-o-wisps, they drop onto their target and explode with violent force, flames and shockwaves radiating outward and upward in the wake of the bomber's departure. << Target is down, >> Callax repeats, now bracing for the enemy's reprisal. << I repeat, the generator is destroyed. >>

You know.. In retrospect.. This might have been a bad idea. Rogue Wing continues forward with little to no effort - the ship's taking their attack runs. The first initial attacks weaken the shielding and armor so that the proton bombs completely obliterate the Generator. The First Order piece of technology crumbles and the blue-irridescent shielding around the area flickers, flashes and ultimately disappears. With the defenses disabled - the Republic Armed Services are instantly ready. The air becomes lit up with explosions as well as Artillery rounds hitting the ground and knocking into the gates. It is absolute pandomonium and below it can be seen that Storm Troopers and officers are getting ready to put up a fight.

While Assassin and Defender Squadron move to engage Rogue Squadron - two tie fighters in explicably turn and veer up - going high into the sky before turning back around and coming straight down. Their actions seeming slightly odd.

Lintra decided not to engage in a schoolyard taunting match with the Commander of the Prison facility. She knows that accented voice with its drawling vowels and sharp consonants, so Inner Core, posh and sure of itself. Pulling back the throttle hard, the Rogue Leader moves into a steep climb with two on her tail. Likely expecting her to level out, she gives them the unexpected. She puts the T-85 into a tight backward loop that drops her out from under their laser fire.

<<"It must hurt to have lost as much as they did. Hammer them and don't give them the pleasure of a reply. Good going on the Generator. Let's take these TIE's down as our love note.">>

The cockpit fills with noise as Fiver beeps an alarm. On the targeting computer, two TIE'S are following but not firing. "What could they be doing." <<"We've got two TIEs making a run for the facility. Hammer them but watch your Six.">> Twin lasers leave the lowest of the two (TIE 5) with it's shields damaged, but it continues to plummet toward the facility.

Jax breaks off from Assassin 2 as the orders come in from Rogue Leader. The A-wing rolling out as Jax hit the thruster. <Nice work, 10. I'm coming in high, Rogue Leader.> Jax comes shooting across the sky firing at Defender 6. His shots just not connecting. <Better pilots than what they first showed.>

Elrych manuevers away from the incoming strike, not even bothering to look back at the thermonuclear explosions behind him. On an incline, he runs into some trouble, taking his escourt fighter into a harroing loop-de-loop and then barrel roll to avoid some fire. However, one of the assasins is on him, evading his sensors. Only his Jedi reflexes allow him to negate the strike to no more than a light shield hit. "Eggsy... get on it!" The droid whistles an affirmation.

He pulls the sticks and handle the foot pedels, turning the fighter to follow along Jax's wing. He lashes out on the TIE with his heavy canons, at least one slamming into the shields and nearly crippling them. <<"Almost... almost...">>

It's a shooting gallery at the moment. Crash is up high, doing a nose lifting turn to stoop into a dive down towards Rogue Leader's target. The problem he runs into is that he was lining up his shot before she fired. So the target's reaction to Tallie's shots put him entirely out of line from the burst of his lasers as he angles out of his dive.... hey, he should have waited and aimed better. But the music was timed for him to fire RIGHT THEN. So he did. Oops.

They're what? Zan turns that a wing on a ... tenth-credit the g forces slamming her back into her seat and she doesn't even care. <<Oh no, they don't,>> she says, hearing Tallie's info, and new orders. She takes a run at six, firing as she brushes past it, and then turns to keep an eye on the remaining fighters, looking to line up her next attack run.

David grins as the two TIEs go on their less-than-stealthy attack run, immediately followed by a whole lot of Rogues. Tilting his head, David moves to accompany Zandra as he'd done before, blasting one of the two runners out of the sky. They're not really runners, they'd just switched targets, to a large one that barely fires back, if at all. <<"Scratch another one. And I don't -mean- to honor the callsign, it's just that I'm just there, you know?" he comms to the Rogues. Maybe something about the callsign bothers him.

They're attacking the prison. They're attacking. The prison.

No thank you.

The advantage of flying a titanium bathtub is that it's slow but maneuverable, and can take a lot - a LOT - of punishment. Callax, still climbing from their bombing run to join the fray above, catches the pair of descending fighters in their attack run as Tallie calls their intent. << Roger that, Leader, >> they call, << Moving to intercept. >> The hail of fire from their comrades obliterates one of the two ships, the other holds off all comers amd Callax knows that their guns arent going to land the necessary death blow. And so...

"Babo, shields full front."

Amongst the curious whistling of the astromech and the humming of the deflectors as all power is poured up front, Callax punches the throttle as far as the bomber can muster whilst turning the ship toward the descending TIE - no to attack it, but to interpose the ship into the shower of green light that it spits toward the prison. Into the fountain of death, the wishbone' shields flare with the desperate effort of soaking up all that energy...but it somehow manages to, and it is only Rogue Ten that takes any damage.

<< Attack nullified, >> Callax says grimly over comms, too set on the task to really understand just how damned lucky they just were. << Moving to attack again... >>

Well this had all went to hell and back. As Assassin Leader watched his brilliant plan fade into obscurity and nothing come of it - the shield was down, Republic Military was moving in. He reached up to shield his eyes as ordinance from incoming slammed into the super structures of the Anti-Air, the two toppling down thanks to the orders of one precocious Commanding Officer.. There was little to be gained here - for now. Inexplicably - after the weapons had been absorbed by the Y-wing.. He would fire Proton Torpedo's.. Wishing to make the man pay.. the torpedos would move wildly and miss their target. Assassin Squadron would continue to engage Rogue Squadron as Defender Squadron would begin attempting an escape - heading further into First Order Territory.

This would now leave the Imperials outnumbered over two to one.. For this round atleast.

As the Defenders break off to go back to base, Jax turns to come back around in K-turn catching Assassin 2 by surprise. The A-wing destroying the tie fighters shields and leaving it smoking but flying. Jax breaks off to the side passing beyond the stealth ship.

Elrych turns steeply into the dog fight, no-one coming after him after chasing down that other TIE. <<"Nice work Ten.">> He offers over the comms. Tallie sets him up wither her devistating attack, plunging heavy scarlet death into the Assasin TIE via at least one of his canons.

"NOOOOOO." Lintra pounds the side of the T-85 watching the two fighters go head to head. <<"Acknowledge that, Fancy Pants. We'll talk about this when we get on the ground.">> Taking Rogue Leader in a sharp starboard turn, they give chase to Assassin One, three taps leave the TIE/SF with shields substantially damaged. <<"Finish him for us.">> She says to the squadron at large.

Like a Mynock one might say. Crash -did- earn his call sign for sure. He sticks to Tallie's maneuvers like it was programmed into a droid, or like her controls managed both craft simultaneously. He may have practiced this. But the more terrifying possibility is that he is improvising and winging it (pun intended).

But either way, he waits until Rogue Leader selects and fires at a target, and a half second after her volley ends, his begins. Lasers chewing into the shields of the Stealth TIE.

Zan is glad that she helped to protect the prisoners from the strafing run, and she's got a pleased smile on her face when she sees the defenders turn to run away. The assassins are harder to hit but they aren't the only aces in the sky. Zan sees that A1 is well under attack and so she follows Jax on Assassin 2, her A wing screaming through space as she takes the throttle to the max, and lets fly just at the right time to manage to take out its weapons. Sitting duck now, really. << Rogue 5, on A2, and it's having a bad day. >>

<<"Copy that, a bad day.">> David replies with a slight smirk for what could've been. He's still there with Zandra, after all, and when the TIE loses its weapons, David finishes the job with a four-pronged assault of his own, causing the First Order fighter to lose.. everything it hadn't yet lost, resulting in the whole thing just dropping out of the sky trailing smoke. <<"Scratch one more.">> David comms, taking the time to check his systems. All seems to be in order!

Having flown into the face of his fury, Callax appears to have attracted the attention of the lead enemy fighter that remains - and, being a gentle host and already having just pulled off one of the most insane maneuvers of their career, decides to be a generous host and return the fellow's love letter with one of their own. "All right, darling, all right," Callax mutters as the lead Assassin's torpedo goes wide and impacts clear of the prison, "Most people just /ask/ when they want to dance. Can't keep such a stud waiting..."

And so they bank and twist free of the Silencer's cone of fire, leveraging the fighter's bulk and the power of its repulsorlift generators into a sharp loop that sees the wishbone coming up behind the black, angle-winged TIE. A target lock is difficult at best thanks to the shadows thrown about on the scope by the mysterious fighter's hull, but if there's one thing that Cal knows best to fly, it's a bloody TIE fighter - and so they're able to size up and open fire on the ship, using the glow of its drive aperture to line up the shot. A stream of red lances from the TIE's nose guns strike center mass, and suddenly the very expensive fighter is opened up like an egg as its reactor detonates, scattering wings and hull remnants everywhere across the landscape.

<< Ten here, Leader. Target destroyed. >> Callax /sounds/ grim and choppy over coms, but that's the only reason one could not hear the note of savage victory in their tone. Proton torpedo, /indeed/. << Moving now to clean up anti-air. >>

It almost all seems to disintegrate in an instant as The DEfender squadron gets away but Assassin squadron is shredded. Only Assassin 3 is left - largely outnumbered. As Assassin 1 is destroyed, the pilot is barely able to eject - the body sitting there and floating as it comes down. Over the public comms - whether by accident.. or on purpose.. The Final Words can be heard..

The british Accent now more somber, and less cocky.

<<I'm Glad it was you Assassin 3. Long Live the First Order!

The words over the personal comms no more ring out than a red lazer fires on the body - it being engulfed and instantly vaporized - the man being killed by the pilot in Assassin 3.

The Stealth Fighter then quickly moves to Evasive and makes to leave - while the Storm Troopers on the Prison are left with no air support.. and an incoming Republic Military.
