First Order: Boom Goes the Dynamite

OOC Date: May 31, 2018
Location: Chandrila
Participants: First Order: Grayson Oakfell, Emma Starflare, Lioria Thrace, and Kylo Ren as GM

The Supreme Leader joins this mission in the form of a hologram, a wavery blue image of his face, unmasked, inside the dropship as it makes its final descent towards the objective. "Communications with the ground team have been knocked out. A routine inspection gone wrong. The troopers are surrounded, that we know of, by the Resistance or its allies. Kill them all, and bring the inspection team back alive. I will not tolerate these attacks. Make an example."

The transmission cuts out as the repulsorlifts scream into life, halting the rapid landing just before the shuttle has a chance to reach the ground. Hovering above the forest floor, hatches open and ropes are thrown out to rappel down into the woods, the sounds of the forest rustling and jostling as its inhabitants, nonsentient at least, scramble to get away from the dropship's noise.

FWUMP. Graysons boots hit the dirt of the forest floor down below, the doctor on hand to handle any injuries of the stormtroopers while also providing some backup to those who will do the brunt of the work in the rescue. She herself is ill, wearing a medical mask of black that sweeps across her mouth, chin and nose, secured behind her ears, hair pulled back into a neatly pinned bun. Medical kit is slung across her chest, the main kit resting on her hip, her blaster at her hip. She tugs down the bottom of her coat, stifling coughing sniffling behind her mask, soft brown eyes glancing around as she presses her right hand to the blaster handle, waiting for the others as before she'll start off to head off to where they'll be going to do this rescue, "Let us make our steps quick and light, I am prefering to catch them unnoticing." So says the woman with the heavy foreign accent, nodding to those around her. Starbucks hits the ground not long after her, the man in full gear, nodding his head, "Let's example it up!"

It was a clear mission, there was no questions from EM-1710. With her weapons charged and her trooper armor in place, the vanguard sniper clips herself to the rappel line and begins her decent. Her gaze scans the forest around them before she checks her readout. She checks her cloak, but for now it remains deactivated before she looks back over her shoulder with a nod. "Quick and quiet, we can ambush the ambushers and give our team a window to escape or push back.

"Make an example." The vocoded voice of the person dressed in the Imperial Royal Guard Uniform that's been modified for mostly the armor to be visible. Lioria is sans black robes today. Because she's not really going to get stuck on something. Then she's out behind Grayson and Emma. Repelling down ropes in a robe was just...not effective. So it stays on the ship! Once they are down, she brings her hand to the hilt of her vibroblade, but something else has been brought down as well. "Quick and quiet, yes." she nods her agreement. I'll take the back, just in case anything tries to ambush us back here." she tells them.

QUICK AND QUIET.

The Vanguard operatives are anything but, immediately drawing the attention of... things in the forest with them. The drop point is close enough to the fighting that it can be heard in the distance, but not so close that the anti-First Order elements can immediately zero in on their location. The small primate creatures that stare at the four from nearby treetops, however, have got a pretty good handle on their noisy progress, and point at the intruders, cawing to each other from behind oversized, bulbous noses, sort of like a prairie dog alert system. Pointing right at them.

Grayson Oakfell coughs, mightily, hacking along with a lot of chesty sounding nastiness. Oh man. It even has her doubling over, hand to her chest, sounding like she's hacking up one of dem lungs in her chest. SO MUCH FOR QUIET AND QUICK. Or quick and quiet. Whatever. Straightening up she will grunt, a wheezy sort of exhale done as she looks with half-lidded eyes up to the monkeys. She keeps walking but will slow somewhat to look back at the group, her weapon drawn and readied with a tap of her thumb, "If they attack kill them, but our focus is in killing those beyond, so do not waste shots if you are not having to." She gives a wary glance to the floppy nosed primates, brown eyes narrowing, "We do not have the time to -HACKWHEEZESNKKTTT- wasting ..on these." Wheeze.

Ever had an off day? It certainly seems the usually masterful EM-1710 wasn't having much better luck with the terrain. The primates? They earn a frown, but for now she keeps moving with her blaster rifle raised and at the ready. "Engage only if they interupt our actions. Otherwise we stay on mission."

Oh yeah sure we're going to be quiet! Lioria boot crunches a stick and the Knight stops to look up at the sky. Really?! Yes, it was happening. "I like what Commander Oakfell said." Lioria states with a nod of her head as well. She wasn't going to mess with the primates unless they messed with them. And with the mood she was in after learning her step mother and brother had been slaughtered, she'd just slaughter them and move along. "You don't want to be crispy primates." she whispers as she clenches a fist.

Around the time Grayson says 'If they attack,' the primates start reaching for the crooks and natural cubbies of the trees, pulling out chunks of rotten fruit, old soggy nuts, and other refuse that they've apparently been stockpiling for just such an occasion. With a guttural shriek, the nearest (and biggest) one chucks a purpley overripe fruit at Lioria's head, and the storm descends. None of them are very good aims, here, but they're all putting a fair amount of gusto into the throws, whooping and calling out to each other as if to bemoan their failed attempts to cream these newcomers.

In the distance, the occasional shot can be heard, the drawn-out trading of dwindling ammo stores.

"Idiot beasts. Keep moving, and up your paces, our people are being overrun and I am not waiting to be killed by fruiting flies." Grayson orders of the group, nudging her chin as fruit and nuts rain down, Grayson raising up her left arm to crook it over her head, shielding her face from the ill-aimed onslaught as she continues forwards. Starbucks will flip off the primates, a quick gesture, his rifle brought to bear as the shots ring out distantly. Fruit splats all around, splatting heavily down and sending bits of fruit innards up this way and that. With determination Gray keeps on movin', wheezing still drawn out in heavy breaths.

"Hopefully they won't follow," Em-1710 muses, frowning a little deeper behind the shroud of her helmet. Pushing forwards and grunting a little, the woman gestures to the team. "Move on. Those soldiers are in trouble. Shoot the ambushers, than you can shoot all the monkeys you like.

"Wait." Lioria's vocoded voice states. "Em. Shoot that sentry." she points out the one that was seen. Or well, she is hopes it is a sentry. The guy is currently looking at the primates and trying to figure out what their deal is. So he'll be definitely surprised when Emma blows him away. Meanwhile, the woman looks up to the primates and shakes her head at them as she moves on. They haven't actually hit them yet. So they get to live. For now.

The forest is alive with the sound of primates, throwing various chunks of food and whatever else they could drag into the trees down at the Vanguard, and the whole spectacle, rather than dooming them to discovery, seems to be working in their favor, as the pro-Res sentry with his tight leather skullcap peers curiously up at them, trying to work out what the krif is going on, and in the process draws their ire as well, earning himself a zoochberry to the snozz. "The hell's gotten into you stupid animals!" he yells up at them, distracted, shaking a gloved fist.

Grayson Oakfell will halt in her steps, partially crouching down, Starbucks doing the same as Lioria spots a sentry that she definitely didn't see. They wait then for Emma to do her business, unmoving. Waiting. She keeps her hand on her blaster, just in case she needs to swing into action to follow up with shooty shooty.

The shot from Emma hits her mark, central enough to drop the man but not quite enough to to end his life. His armor had given him a few more moments of life. Moving forwards, the sniper keeps her blaster rifle raised and pointed towards the target. She's certainly willing to finish him off if he tries to warn the others.

The snoozberries taste like snoozberries. Oh...that's a hole in your chest. Lioria gives a nod to Emma, "Thank you." she states in that hollow tone that most of the Knights of Ren decide to take. She then heads up to where the sentry dropped and arcs the blade over her head before stabbing the man violently twice. Letting blood flow over the ground. Then she straightens, "Better now. Lets keeps going." she states as she turns to keep going.

The sentry lets out a gasp as he's shot, falling onto his back on the dirty forest floor in a small cloud of leaves. One of these primates has a serious throwing arm, he's thinking for a second there, trying to put together what just happened before he's brutally murdered the rest of the way by a mysterious figure with a sword. It was a bad day.

As the Vanguard forces move on, the primates get in a few last parting shots, but it seems they've lost interest and/or run out of projectiles to hurl, and begin to move off through the trees away from the distant blasterfire. Up ahead, the shots continue, spaced out and almost lazy-sounding when the combatants can't be seen, more of a reminder to the other side that the fight is still going than an all-out salvo. The terrain shifts as well, the forest begins to thin out, and through the treeline the warehouse comes into view.

"We're outnumbered," Em speaks as they move, gesturing towards the treeline. "We get close and we attack, we leave outselves some cover when the shooting starts." With her rifle at the ready, she presses her free hand moves to brush over the grip of her backup carbine. Just in case. "Cover each other until our people can rally."

Exhaling out wheezingly Gray will consider a long moment, stopping in behind a tree, her shoulder to it, the woman doing this in mirror of Starbucks who has taken up a position opposite her, both looking out and surveying, "I bet you we are being able to blowing them up. This is mining. Explosives. Barrels of material all ripening for exploding." Grayson murmurs, eyes narrowing as she squints hard, "Can either of you use your weapon scoping to see what is on the side of the equipment? Maybe we are being able to blowing /that/ ..."

Lioria gives a bit of a head shake when she sees things, "They've got our troops pinned down in there." she states. "If we can get close enough...or well, get me close enough, I could probably blow that up, but I don't want to get any of you hurt." she tells them. "Or I could at least hit some of them all at once." she whispers.

Down below, the mining equipment does seem to be providing cover for the pro-Resistance fighters, and they do seem to have gathered some sensitive-looking equipment on the side of their cover facing the Vanguard, where the beleaguered stormtroopers inside the warehouse can't shoot it. Those stormtroopers are still popping up occasionally to take a potshot out at the defenders, and while the would-be rescuers deliberate, one is hit, falling back into the warehouse with a Wilhelm scream.

"We all have shooting weapons, everyone aim at the equipment, no need to martyr for no reasoning when we can take out many with with an aiming of explosions." Gray reasons to Lioria, drawing out her own weapon finally to take aim, "One of us has to be able to hit it, yes? And then it will even the odds and allow our compatriots to aid us with the rest." PEW PEW.

It's a quick assessment, and seemingly one made in an instant by more than just the sniper. Her weapon comes up and the blonde snaps a shot off at the explosives near their targets, sending the high-velocity bolt hurtling into the target. She gets one shot herself, but she makes it count even as Grayson joins her. The reaction is...dramatic, but even as the shrapnel rains down the sniper slings her main rifle and draws her carbine, moving in towards the battle and any stragglers that might still threaten the pinned troopers.

"No one was going to martyr themselves today. I still have someone to murder violently when I return to Coruscant." Lioria tells Grayson as she looks over their cover. And hey, they have guns. Such uncivilized things that blasters are sometimes. Instead, she rounds the corner after the explosion and takes a running start at the first person that wasn't taken out, with one swing she misses, the second thrust doesn't though.

BOOM. Ba-ba-BOO-Oo-OM! A big explosion followed by a thudding chain of additional explosions as the mining supplies, some of them high explosives, some of them plain ordinary fuel, are detonated by the sudden blasterfire from the treeline. A dozen pro-Resistance soldiers are instantly killed by the blast, their insides scrambled by the shockwave or cooked by the flames or blown apart, depending on proximity. After a moment of inaction and the rising cloud of smoke begins to drift up from the crater, the defending stormtroopers rally, and suddenly the tide has turned. "RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!" That's a pro-Resistance raider, throwing down his gun and running off towards the hills.

"NONE MUST SURVIVE." Grayson calls out after feeling the remnants of the shockwave as it pummels out, steadying onto her left foot which slides back, "Quick, do not let any escape-" Said as she takes aim at the duder who tossed down his pistol, the woman firing off a shot that ...misses. Completely. But, hey. She does hit a dude already dead from the explosion. SHE SO FANCY. "Hurry, we need them all down for our Supreme Leader to consider this a success!" HACKCOUGHWHEEZE, sniffle, all from behind her medical mask. Woof, give her a second.

If Em finds it distasteful to shoot someone in the back, it doesn't seem to throw off her aim. Her stride takes her closer towards the troopers, but she keeps firing even as her first bolt hits a target in the head, aiming for the next. "Troopers, status report!" she calls to the soldiers.

If anyone could see Lioria with the helmet off right now. They'd probably be running the other way. When she strikes the one down, she raises her hand and extends her fingers as a spray of blueish lightning barely misses one of the retreating soldiers. But hey, it was worth a try. She's just not with it tonight. The Force is not with her. She brings the sword up again, readying it for anything else that moves with a cry of rage.

With the tide turning, the handful of stormtroopers inside the warehouse pour out, gunning down any remaining pro-Resistance fighters with little issue now that they're on the run. It seems the special forces unit's helping hand was all that was needed to save the day here, and with communication restored, the dropship would soon return to carry both the Vanguard and the rescued Troopers back to safety, leaving the smoking hole and dead bodies of these terrorists behind as an example to those who would try to prevent the First Order's inspections.

Another mission accomplished!
