Specter of The Order III

OOC Date: February 18, 2019
Location: Tython
Participants: Jedi Order: Rey, Syrus, Angouri Dros, Zandra naMuriel, Yuun, Elrych Cometburn

The group of Jedi having taken the time to secure the secret vault discovered at the Jedi Temple Ruins with the rangers and stopping for a meal efore continuing were back on the path they think they need to go. Rey had the map, the one that lead to the supposed 'Light Forge'. Over the bridge where there was a stand that a holoemiter once was, the path through the forest started to thicken. A few hours in, it was time to stop and res in a sort of clearing.

Elrych, sweat driping down his face, breathing heavy, takes his haversack off his shoulder and finds a rock to sit down. "How much farther do you think?" He asks. They hadn't run into anything malicious thus far. Perhaps they'd get lucky.

Rey does indeed have the map and she has a basic canvas bag slung over her shoulder with a canteen in one hand and the map in the other.

Her hood is back, her hair is tied into two buns on the back of her head and her eyes are forward, at least until Elrych moves to take a break. She offers him her water canteen. She doesn't even look like she's broken a sweat at all... perhaps its growing up on Jakku with its temperatures and arid climates?

"Here." She says, offering him the map and then pointing toward it. "We're here." She indicates. "We need to get there..." She shows a slight smirk then, good naturedly. "Not too much further. Are you okay?"

Through all of this, Angouri Dros has alternated between fussing at her new robes and staring openly at the famous Rey - the First Order's blight, the face on every holonet. Of course, a decent amount of energy is also spent simply keeping up - her legs are quite short. The teenager feels grossly out of sorts here - less than a day ago, she had been thrilled to have simply located the Resistance, now she's trouncing through the forest with the Galaxy's Most Wanted and a man that's managed to convince Ango that she, herself, was some sort of magical space mage.

Needless to say, she's relieved when they stop to rest. Too star-struck to let slip the usual smartass remarks, the diminutive amaran steals a silent glance at the map, her ears perked forward in interest, before shyly settling back and tugging at the canteen lashed to her own belt.

Syrus Volo is also here, bringing up the rear and towering over everyone else. His gray and black robes whip around as they walk, but the man's too concerned to try and reign them in. Right now, he's just enjoying the scenery. "This planet truly is a sight to behold, isn't it?" he asks of nobody in particular. Elrych is busy unscrewing his canteen and taking a long sip from it. He's still out of breath. "You're telling me..." He looks to Rey then, "I'm fine. Just need to work on my endourance a bit more, yeah?" He notices Angouri and offeres his Canteen to her, "Here kido... grab some water."

From not too far in the distance there is a roar and a few laughs from what could only be describes as a deep huking voice. Houkish if anything. What ever it was it was large and at least somewhat scentient.

Elrych blinks, looking around. "What was that?"

Rey's in idling mode now herself, while Elrych catches his breath, she places her free hand onto her hip as she looks over to Angouri and she offers her a soft smile. "Glad to see you've joined up with us. How are the robes?" She asks. "I know... its a bit odd at first, it feels like you're walking around with bedsheets for clothing. They make a lot more sense, eventually, I promise."

At Syrus' comment, Rey spares a glance around. "This world has a lot more to it than its telling us on the surface." She looks directly to the tall Syrus. "I'm sure you've meditated on this though, but the Force is strong here. Light and Dark."

The noises draw her attention back as she looks in what she perceives to be the direction that they came from.

Still overwhelmed, Angouri flicks her attention towards Syrus and her head tilts slightly as she studies him. She's pulled from her quiet size-up by Elrych, and she shakes her head wordlessly in reply, gesturing with her own canteen and undoing the stopper. She nearly drops it when she's spoken to again, and gives a nervous laugh. "Feel like th'ghost of a haversack." She admits, tugging at the loose fabric uncertainly. "Bu' m'sure they're fashionable somewhere." At the sudden sound, and stiffness it brings to the group, her ears swivel and twist to catch the sound. "Laughter." She replies, maddeningly matter-of-fact.

"Oh, yes," Syrus says in agreement with Rey. "I did some meditating in the deserts a few weeks before we came out here. It was...transfomative, to say the least."

At the sounds, Syrus's crook a brow and looks off in their direction. "The locals, perhaps," he muses, hands moving to rest on his hips as he continues to walk. "Perhaps we should be light of feet," he offers with a soft chuckle.

Zan stays silent, her gaze going from one to the other. She takes a sip of water from her own canteen and then simply waits. The sound might send shivers up her spine,

Yuun has been quiet during most of the trip, focusing himself on the force and looking around his surroundings. Yuun looks over to Rey, "How come the force is so strong he......" he pauses in his question as he hears that roar. He begins looking around.

Elrych pushes off from the rock and listens again. "I think perhaps we should do what Mr. Volo says. When we continue lets do so quietly." He glances to Angouri and raises an eyebrow, a hand going to his own Haversack. "Hey. /I/ Think it's fashionable. Okay!" That seemed to be their thing. She would just make fun of his fashion choices and he would defend them. He reaches out with the force and can't quite sense what's ahead. "We should spread out too." Hefting his haversack over his shoulder he slowly starts down the trail once more, keeping an eye and ear open.

"They're definitely locals." Rey softly says as she observes the horizon and where the voices had echoed throughout it. "Flesh Raiders." She says then as she looks to the others with her. "Three in total that I can sense, could be more... I don't know for certain, but they may not hesitate to attack us if they spot us. We should try to find an alternative to such a confrontation... be it through a wider perimeter away from them... or something more."

Rey's hand goes to her belt and she detaches her lightsaber hilt, holding it firmly in her right handed grasp. "Either way, we should keep moving, and we should be on our guard. Here and forward."

"Well, you've already proven y'ain't got a lick of fashion sense." The amaran retorts, but something causes her to blanch. Meditating? In the desert? It is clear by the blankness that comes to Angouri's expression that she is only now realizing what she's gotten herself into. Hey, there's still the chance that it's all a mix-up - that would seem more likely than a lifetime spent with unknown magic powers. Right? ...Right? Her fitful gaze turns on Zandra and Yuun like it had to Syrus - blinking wide, yellow eyes as if she could understand her companions by simply staring at them. She doesn't let her gaze linger so long as to be overtly creepy, though - there is the matter of their unseen company to worry about.

Without realizing it, some unconscious instinct turns Angouri's muzzle down the path with a deep frown. "Yeah... There are three." She agrees softly, she had felt it too, though now that she puts a name to that intuition it is an entirely new experience. "Big 'uns." She lets out a resigned sigh. She doesn't want to meditate in the desert, but she will follow, happy to avoid a confrontation with anyone called 'Flesh Raiders'. You don't need magic powers to intuite that no one friendly is going to be called 'Flesh Raider'.

"You hear that? I have good ideas some times," Syrus says, smiling widely and just looking all-around happy to be out and about. "Flesh Raiders?" Syrus asks, looking over at Rey. "What a...charming name," he says, agreeing with Angouri with a nod.

Yuun isn't able to sense the Flesh Raiders, still he trusts in the others. He gives a small bow of his head, "I feel we should pick up our pace a bit and maybe go out a little bit wider." he says as he looks towards Rey and the others. "IF we don't want to fight, we shouldn't use our weapons, just yet unless we have too." he states. Yuun's lightsabers are still attached to his utility belt. One lightsaber and one training saber. He quickly looks over the others and checks to see which weapons they have. "For those of you who are able to sense the Flesh Raiders, can you gauge where they are so we can attempt to avoid them?" he asks.

Zan isn't sensing anything either, though. she has no lightsaber, but she does have a stun baton and her hand is on that. One of them. It might not matter to her which. "That definitely sounds like something or someone we should avoid," is her quiet comment, as she finally breaks her silence. "I suppose we should keep moving then?"

"Alright... fan out then but don't loose sight of anyone okay? You get lost out here, we might not be able to find you. Well Rey might but it could be a real pain." Elrych says pushing into the tall hardwood forest a bit more. Trying his best to stay silent as he moves. Too bad he's breaking all the branches and crunching on dead leaves as he goes.

As Yuun asks on how far down the Flesh Raiders are, the flicker of a fire pit comes into view as they move down the path. The answer, is not far at all. There are indeed three of them, sitting around a fire, laughing and speaking in their very basic and primitive language. They are cooking a large leg of some sort over the fire. One looks towards Elrych direction as asks something of the other two who go quiet and look that way too.

Rey gives a glance back to Syrus and Yuun. "Yes, its quite lovely. We should rename ourselves to Flesh Something too... I'm sure it'd do wonders for our public perception throughout the galaxy." She can be funny like everyone else if she wants to! So funny.

"Just be careful, and try to be quie--" Elrych's crunching footfalls put a rather quick end to that as she can see the fire up ahead and tell that they've been spotted, or at least outed to some degree.

"Just keep going, we've shown no aggression toward them, perhaps they won't toward us." She says TO Elrych. Her eyes glance toward them though, at their super fancy firepit.

Nodding to Yuun, Ango points a claw. "There abouts." She answers, surprised at her own confidence. She has to shake back the sleeve of her robe a little when she points. Like Zandra, she has no lightsaber, but a stunsaber hangs at her belt where one would be, ideally - she wouldn't know how to use one even if she had it, though. It doesn't bother her, and Ango slips into the forest after Rey and Eldrych, her tail twitching nervously behind her. She's light on her feet, she's made a living being small and quiet and stealthy. She is amaran; she is shadow itself - but not in oversized robes. They snag on a low twig, and when she tries to pull it free, stumbles backwards, allowing another to slap her in the face with a telling 'THWUNNK'.

"Carabast." Angouri swears softly, pressing a paw to her face where she was struck. So much for stealthy. Like Rey said - she just keeps going, now with the hem of her robes balled in one hand, hoping with all hope that there can be rationale and hospitality towards strangers in the Flesh Raiders.

"Well done, Cometburn," Syrus says to the young Jedi with a smirk, as he looks toward the Flesh Raiders that have just spotted the be-robed cadre. The Kiffar puffs his chest out and moves his hands to his hips, before one is raised and waved in a friendly-manner toward the indigenous peoples.

Zan is actually light on her feet and quiet when she moves, fanning out as instructed. She may not even be noticed at first by any flesh raiders. Well, she can hope at least. She glances over at Syrus at his comment, and then back over to Elrych with a bit of a wince. Her gaze goes to the new person, and she sighs a bit. "This is such a good introduction, isn't it?" she murmurs under her breath.

Yuun also is pretty light on his feet, he begins moving off to the right. He does have a good line of sight on the others as he moves like the wind. Or well he thinks he is moving like the wind, he attempts to use the terrain around him to his advantage as they move closer to the Flesh Raiders. He's hoping they are able to bypass them, but than there are a few people in their group who can't stop walking on every branch they can find.

Elrych closes his eyes and sighs, moving behind the closest treet. Pushing his back against it, he takes a moment before looking around to see one of the Flesh Raiders has gotten up and moved slowly towards him. He is noticed and the beast shouts. There is also another one headed towards Angouri's direction where she had made noise. Though, all are suddenly distracted by Syrus who just comes out and waves at them. They look to each other for a long moment, speak a few words before one of them passes by the two, sticks out his chest and roars at the dark sinned man. Yuun, Rey, and Zandra thus far go unnoticed.

Rey has the responsibility of keeping everyone here safe as can be, she knows that the training she has is the top of the class and thusly she can't hide to protect herself. She was sticking with Elrych since he was leading the navigating through the wilderness, but now? Now Syrus is stepping forward, the elder of the group... but this is a brash decision... but she kind of understands the motivation of it.

"Syrus." Rey says to him, looking to the Flesh Raiders and then back to him. "We should leave them be." Though part of her has the sneaking suspicion that the Raiders themselves will not allow this, as optimistic as she may hope things to be here.

With a soft 'eep' of terror at the sudden approach of the Flesh Raiders - no, she needs to call them something else in her head. Angouri cannot focus on anything other than /deep, existential terror/ when /Flesh Raiders/ are charging her down. Nope. Flappers - she is calling them Flappers from now on. That little intuition gnaws at her, and without a second thought, the amaran leaps as hard and high as she can, scrabbling against the bark of the nearest tree. She climbs to a low-hanging branch and tucks herself effectively into the leaves, all but disappearing. Let the trained space wizards talk to the Flappers, Angouri is a tree and she will stay there until she absolutely has to move.

"This has not gone according to plan," Syrus says, looking over to the rest of the group. Lifting both of his palms out towards the Flesh Raiders, Syrus begins to speak, softly. "My friends, there's no need to fight. We're simply here to sample the things your planet has to offer. We wish you know harm," he's quite sure that the language barrier will be problematic, the tone that he's using is one of peaceful understanding.

Zan continues on her way, seeing if she can flank the ... flesh eaters. Ick. Why? No never mind, she doesn't want to know. It's a careful slow steady movement, as she is currently unnoticed.

Yuun keeps his guard up, moving quickly and silently as they move. He glances back towards the others to see if they were able to get Flesh Raiders. Moving off to the side a little, he glances back to behind them and as he does Yuun stops where he is just in case.

Elrych blinks as Syrus openly faces the three Flesh Raiders. He looks to Angouri who isn't too far from him. Taking the moment of the distracted hunters, he moves towards the dimunitive Ameran and helps her along. "Go on... keep moving..." He says to her, pushing her in the the right direction before he himself takes a deep breath and steps up to the Flesh Raiders. "Ayyyye, how's it going... You guys got any veggies to go with the Wrathgoul leg? I think I got some taters in my sack. It's all good, we don't mean any harm."

Syrus has seemingly made the small minded Flesh Raiders /very/ confused. "Chakka? Chhhhhhakka?" Asks the lead one before looking to Elrych. "Cha...." One steps forwards towards the younger Jedi, a weapon held out but mostly in a defensive posture. Elrych starts to go through his haver sack.

Rey exhales softly and she holds her weapon in her right hand, but its just a silver cylinder, perhaps they don't even know what that is? Of course... people like this likely believe anything and everything held in a hand is a weapon if they don't recognize it immediately.

Rey's eyes travel over the others as they engage in conversation and persuasion with the Raiders.

"Peaceful." She says to them, adding it in simplicity hoping that its a word they know. She then motions to the others as she moves to start to walk way, hoping to inspire that same reaction in the resting... hoping that the Raiders accept that as well.

Once, she was a trader; a talented seller of goods and rubbish. Once, she was a slave - briefly. Once, she was a wanderer; once, she was a member of the Resistance. Now, Angouri Dros is a tree, and she will not be moving from her hiding spot anytime soon.

Syrus Volo offers the group of Raiders a warm smile. Then, as passively as he can, Syrus unclasps a bracelet on his wrist. It's a simple thing, weaved from leather cord and a few mismatched beads. He holds the thing out to one of the Raiders and says, "Friends."

Zan is a trader, she still thinks of herself that way. She follows Rey's example and continues to walk away, though she pauses to look back and see what happens to the others.

Yuun ins't moving just yet, he is surveying the area around them all, he doesn't want to speak so not to give away their position, but he tries to push into the force calm. Letting everyone know to just relax and seeing as the Flesh Raiders are not attacking maybe this is a good sign for Elrych and Syrus to get past them.

"Angouri..." Elrych says out of the corner of his mouth as he's searching through his sack. "Annnngouri... it's time to go now..." Just then he pulls out a sack of potatoes. "AHAH. I knew I had these in here!" It's a small one, nothing fancy. Probably just for dinner later. He tosses it towards one of the Flesh Raiders. "yumm, good..." He gives a thumbs up and starts to back away. The Flesh Raider picks up the sack and studies it, eyes Elrych as he starts to back away.

The leader slowly reaches a hand out to syrus and takes a beads, bringing it to his nose to sniff it. Then without preamble, eats it and starts to chew. "Chakkka...." Said softly, glancing to rey and other others as they back away. "Chakka..." He waves, the group turning to return to their camp. All shall pass?

Rey watches the exchange of 'goods' to convince the Raiders that they're not a threat. She meanwhile walks back in the direction that they were originally going. "This is going to be troublesome if we run into more than just three of these people along our way. I have doubts that food and trinkets will be enough to convince them that twe're not a threat." She releases a light sigh.

"Perhaps we should go back, get a speeder to take us closer. We could even leave entirely until we find a vehicle that could get us where we need to go more safely than traveling on foot?"

From the leaves of the branch, two ears appear, followed by a pair of amber-colored eyes, and finally, a nose, twitching nervously. "Nice." Angouri decides after a moment of scene size-up; she waits until those Flappers are moving away before disentangling herself from her hiding spot. "Chakka." She leaps from the branch to the ground again, landing on all fours with the hood of her robe thrown over her head - one ear is covered by it, but the other remains perked forward, free of the fabric. "Good work, team." She adds, awkwardly, picking a twig from her tail as she straightens up and lets the jedi that know what they're doing discuss the plan.

With a flattened expression, Syrus just nods to the group. "Very good," he says, bowing his head to them. With their exit, Syrus turns to begin following after the rest of the Jedi hopefuls. "Still, it's better that we left them undisturbed," Syrus responds to Rey.

Zan simply follows where the group goes. She does give Angouri a thoughtful glance, making a mental note. Might be good to learn to hide like that. She glances to Syrus, and then over to Rey, curiously. Not another word out of the quiet space girl, she just sticks with the group, and hopes she will be able to help.

Yuun is relieved that everything has turned out ok. He walks over to where Zan and Rey are, "No we can keep going." he says to her. "This is a trail for all of us. Lets continue onward, everything is alright." he says as he looks to her and he looks over to where Angouri is, and gestures for her to follow them.

Perhaps it's Irony what Rey says. Perhaps not. A horn sounds through the Forests. The Flesh Raiders pause and look as if they had just seen a ghost. The Horn sounds again and the Raiders start to gather their things and retreat into the woods, off the regular path. "Chakkkaaa... Chakkka!" The leader warns towards Syrus, El, and Rey as they disappear. For a long moment the woods are silent. Those who can may sense life presences moving in on their position. Many of them, encircling them. As they appear through the dense forests, they are recognized as Trandoshans, all of them carrying traditional staffs and wearing traditional armor. They stop a good distance from the force users, one stepping forward, their Leader. "I am Dragoth Fess of clan Fess." He speaks in Trandoshan but there is a translator droid with him. It looks very very old. "You must come with us. The Master is expecting you."
