Quest of the Violet Knight Part 4: Lucrehulk Breakdown

OOC Date: May 10, 2021 (Optional)
Location: The Savage, Out of the way Star System
Participants: Jedi Order, Rogue Squadron, Zandra naMuriel, Jax Greystorm, Ax, Qutha Buvu Pah, Rey, Kasia Ashkuri, Tallissan Lintra, Yuun, Cameo by Babu Frik

The location of hideout of Babu Frik and his captors had turned out to be an old Lucrehulk Droid Control ship, the Savage, hidden in an out of the way star system. The team had decided stealth would be the best option and instead of the Millennium Falcon and several fighter craft. They had arrived in a pair of Ultralight freighters, The Pure Sabacc and the Painted Guardian.

As the pair of freighters entered the system, The Savage hung in space slightly off it's axis and there were no lights on the exterior of the ship, no com halling, and no ray shielding on the landing bay to prevent the two freighters from landing.

When the two freighters finally decided to sit down in the hanger. Jax opened up the com unit to the Pure Sabacc and where those on his ship could hear, "Sensor readings indicate there's life support and some power. That's about it. I got a feeling this isn't going to go the way we want."

Then as the ramp to the ship opens and the team descends. They find it cold and dark in the hanger. The blast shields to the ship closed and the team is most definitely alone.

Zan's ship is the Sabacc, and she's okay with bringing it. After all, this is sort of all her fault. <<Thanks, Jax. I guess we see what's going on then, right? >> She takes a breath, looking over at the still quiet and powered off VeeTen. "You know, buddy, I do hope you understand how much effort we're all going to here. Well, okay, and now it's to rescue Babu Frik right? But you started it all." There's no answer, of course. Because - there's no power for poor VeeTen among other things.

Zan opens the ramp of the Sabacc for whoever wishes to go down. (By the way, anyone travelling on the Sabacc will have met Frost, the Stohl that lives on the Sabacc with Zan.) She heads down, and frowns. "Guess we need some lights to start with?" she says, as she reaches for the Force, trying to sense what's around.

~ Ax was riding in one of the ships, wishing he'd been piloting his own, as any self-respecting smuggler would. The mission however, didn't call for it, needing stealth instead, and Ax's ship was a bit bigger and its power signature was rather stronger than the two ultra-lights. Fidgetting in his old republic-era Jedi Knight armor, the Echani was getting his mind settled for what was to come.

In Ax's hands was his ornate hinged-hilt double-bladed lightsaber. Ax's fingers were instinctively tracing the engravings along the phrik alloy, the ornate vine pattern having been smoothed down from the nervous habit when the Echani knew he was going into a potentially hostile situation. For once, however, he's not letting his mouth run non-stop. ~

Cold was easy enough to contend, but dark made it troublesome for the Zelosian. Stunsaber out to shed light and following others out of the Guardian. A pair of glow lamps engaged at his hips and his eyes popped wide, trying to see. "Dear oh dear." swallowing hard as he makes his way gingerly to the deck.

Quiet if only because of nerves, Qutha's hood is down and stepping to be between any two of the others that he can, for some confidence for where to step in a situation like this. Deep breath. Let it out. Darkness and fear going hand in hand for the flora alien.

The ride in with Zandra, known in the Squadron as Violet, had been amusing and fast. Violet, the well-connected child of the space lanes, and her mini-menagerie brought a smile to her face.

Walking down the ramp behind her, Tallie wondered, was the power armor overdoing it? Optimistically, it likely was. The young commander's experience and intuition whispered that the old axiom of 'better safe than sorry' might apply to this mission. Her fingers stray to the S5 strapped to her side inherited during her first days in Black Squadron. Night vision gives her a view of robed figures awaiting them. The Rogue pilot wasn't the only figure in armor; she raises a hand silently to Ax.

Walking down the ramp of Jax's ship, his hood is covering his head. He could feel the cold and he looks around at the others as they unload off the ships. HIs lightsaber is still clipped to his belt but his fighting gloves are on his hands. The abensence of sound is around them, but Yuun wasn't bothered, "Looks like this going to be interesting." he says as he looks around and begins using the Force to sense his surroundings.

"Does it ever?" Kasia asks Jax in a wry tone as she lowers her gaze to the bag she carries. Even if she doesn't need all the supplies anymore, she still brings them anyway. A medpack, an extra blaster pack to go with the blaster that she carries, snacks, that sort of thing. There's a saber on the hip opposite the blaster, she touches her fingers against that to check that it's there, maybe for a little reassurance as they embark into the unknown.

Others disembark and she follows, digging one hand in a bag to pull out a small cylindrical object that isn't a saber. "I've got another light if we need it." She doesn't wait to be asks, with other lights on she activates hers with a small click so a beam of light slices through the dark.

So being on another Han Solo ship has been a bit of a trip for Rey, pun intended. Chewie wasn't terribly fond of letting her mess with the Falcon's hyperdrive, thusly this was a chance to get a peak at another one of Han's designs... so she took advantage of it.

Hands off, of course. She just spent a bit of the travel time looking the drive over and just visually inspecting it. Judging the handiwork! A lot of it made no sense to her, but that was part of what fueled her in wanting to look more, memorize more...

The rest of the trip though, she sits quietly in the back of the ship with her hood up and just observing, listening and waiting.

When they land, Rey stands up and waits for the others before she moves to disembark. She remains quiet for the time being, scanning over the others with her eyes to take in numbers and such. Her stare then goes around where they are now... a chill running through her, probably just the air itself though.

Jax looks around for a moment, "You're right. I'm just the eternal optimist that it will be." There's a deadpan tone in Jax's voice as he opens a panel on the side of his Helix Interceptor and pulling out ship leads to slave 'The Savage' to his ship and power it up the landing bay. The cable weren't tangled up, So there's a good chance that it wasn't Jax that used the cables last.

Moment's later the landing bay lights up revealing an old YT-1210 that had been sitting in parts. A pair of vulture droids in pieces. Totally burying the lead of the pose is the fact that it looks like a fire fights happened hered. There's a couple of freshly dead organics trying to get to the old Yt-1210 and some heavily damaged B-1 battle droids. There's also a blast door to the inside of the ship well locked down.

Zan smiles at the group, taking a breath. "thanks all for coming to help out," she says. Jax turns on the lights, and Zan stifles a laugh. Where's Ben when the group needs him, hmm? She reaches out with the Force, a thoughtful look on her face, searching the near environs for signs of life. Because of course, there's this huge lucrehulk and dead space. After a few moments, she blinks, and then lets her breath out in a sigh. "Judging by the looks of this place, Babu Frik is the only being alive other than us, and that matches what I'm sensing, one small life sign, and if I don't miss my guess, he is at about the opposite end of the ship. Well, somewehere far off in this ship, at any rate, and I think he's not in immediate danger."

~ "Got a nasty feeling about whatever's behind that door," Ax says as he gestures towards the blast door. Still though, they weren't going to be moving forward unless someone opens it up. Prefering not to compromise the ship by cutting the door with a lightsaber, the Echani cracks his knuckles and moves to the computer terminal. He wasn't a slicer, but he'd worked his way around computers enough that he thought he'd be able to get through. "Brace yourselves," he says as he thinks he has the correct commands to open the door. Just as he's about to hit enter, he's got his lightsaber in hand, though not ignited. "Be ready..." he says and pushes the final button. Only to get a red flashing line that says ACCESS DENIED! ~

Following, watching Zandra move for one area, Ax to another - the more inexperienced plant's brow creased. Lips a line he hunkers some and relies on old skills from the forest paths to the family orchard, or when trying to find the remains of someone who had been caught out after sundown.

Using his stun saber as a light, Qutha moves to a spot on the floor. One finger testing some of the muck and then another spot. Frown growing as he follows, tapping at patches of the floor until he gets to the Door Ax is working with. "Definitely through there, the latest movement I mean... and Ax is right. Something unfriendly that way." stepping towards the side of the door, watching it warily.

The ship in pieces and the unmoving forms around it belies any optimism, she might have had. Tallie toggles off the night vision, staring fixedly at the puzzle of the ship's parts, a frown deepening as she listens to Violet's assessment.

Who can resist trying a key when someone can't open a door? The red flash of 'access denied' lighting the scene she steps up to Ax. <"Can't help myself. I've got to give it a go."> Head down; she studies the cable a moment before waggling it.

Startled, Tallie takes a step back as a dense gas roils from the door. Without thought, she slams the auto-close button. An internal suit alarm trills in her ear as she pushes Ax back from the door. <"What in the Galaxy was that?">

Yuun takes a moment to look around just in his vicinity. Hearing of the computers, but as he was about to announce that he could help, he sees Ax walking over to the computer terminal. Good varying skills would help, "Ready as the Force allows us to be." he says as he unclips his lightsaber from his belt. He takes a deep breath and closes his eyes focusing on what is needed. Yuun slowly opens his eyes, taking note of everything around him, "If he's at the other end of the ship, we will need to move quickly and not get caught up in too many fights." he says.

Hearing Qutha speak and he looks around and gives a nod. Yuun looks up as the door starts to open but the gas that roils out, he blinks. "Ok that's not good." he says not liking the smell of that. He starts to look around and finds a second panel, "Hey I think this will allow for us to contact the Bridge if anyone wants to contact those who are here." he says, seeing that they may not want to do that. Yuun backs away from the computer panel.

"Always the optimist," Kasia flashes a grin at Jax, but then it's time to focus on the task ahead. She swings the beam of light over to the organic, and the droids, brows furrowing slightly. Luckily she's not too close when the doors start to open and the gas comes rolling out, but she backs away even so, a slight frown tugging at the corners of her mouth. "Well that is going to be a problem. If we're going to get through, or get anyone else out, we need to clear it. Right?" Her gaze follows Yuun as he looks around and finds that panel. She doesn't waste any time heading for it, giving it a brief study before she activates the comms on it. "Hello. Anyone there?" No identifying remarks, no offers of assistance, just a greeting sent out to the bridge where hopefully a certain someone is listening.

Off of the Pure Sabacca now, Rey offers a smile to Zandra before her eyes go to the YT-ship in its state of disrepair. She roams her eyes across it before she looks down to the deck that they're all moving across. As the others fan out, Rey moves calmly and perhaps a bit meandering as she listens to them.

The talk of Babu's well-being has her looking up and closing her eyes for a moment. "This seems odd for him." Rey does say though, voice soft.

She opens her eyes then to hear the computer hackers at work, and starts to walk toward them as Tallie steps in to help with it. "What type of ship is this?" Rey asks then to whomever might be up for answering htat before, well, anything might try and ambush them too!

The sight of the gas has Rey looking toward the YT-parts which has her scanning them for options on... redistributing the gas elsewhere. "I could try to vent it in to space, could be risky though." She tells the others.

Well Tallie has unlocked the door but well quickly discovered there's chlorine gas behind the door waiting for them. So the door is shut but can be opened at any time according to THAT terminal.

The other terminal that Kasia and Yuun are at has a small screen. As Kasia says 'Hello,' an image appears on the screen with the grey whisker mustache of a tiny face blown up to rather large proportions as a voice cheerfully calls out, "Hey, Heeeey! You here to rescue Babu Frikk?" Then there's some of the language that him and Zorri speak before he says, "Big Problem. Babu turn droids on. Jerks turn gas on. Babu stuck. Gas and Droideka make things go black, black."

Jax looks around, "This is an old CSA droid control ship Rey. The Confederation used them to haul battle droids around and control them during the clone war." He frowns, "Think we could use the terminal to vent the gas or we can go with your solution?"

Zan glares at the door with the gas behind it, and then she says, "I think you guys got this, from our side, but I thought of something." Tallie, watch out, Zan's learning delegation.

She heads over to stand near Kasia, and eyes the little guy on the screen. "Hi there. I think you're Babu Frik, yes? We're here to rescue him - er, you. I'm Violet. Looks like the jerks are dead here, either from the gas or the droids. So, if we can get the gas out of the way, we can come get you?" she says. "Can you help us with that? Without it getting into the hangar where we are?"

~ Ax had experience with Droideka, being the owner of one. Having used it as a practice dummy enough times to know their capabilities, he cringes. "By the gods, this is not good. They're heavily shielded and pack some serious firepower. I highly recommend that the best fighters amongst us take point. If you have shielding abilities, I recommend using them at the moment of first contact," he adds.

Then, on top of that, there's gas to deal with. Taking a breath, Ax gets to work. He apparently couldn't beat the computer as well as Tallie, but he'd hotwired enough ships and jury-rigged enough in his life that he was fairly certain he could re-wire the ventilation fans to redirect the gas to an emergency vent. "Let's hope this works," he says, pulling a multi-tool from the pocket of his utility belt. ~

Coughing and sweeping an arm up to cover his mouth and nose with his robe as he falls back, Qutha's eyes widen and for the perpetual gloom he can see little but hear much. "Ah... Well. Bother." shaking his head and looking to the others.

"Perhaps Mister Frikk can seal the room he is in, we clamp the ships in place here in the hold... see if we can get the doors open remotely and drop the particle shields to vent atmosphere?"

Pausing again when Ax makes note of who should be where before he starts digging in with his multi-tools. Silence taking him again and his feet heading for the the rear, where he won't get in anyone's way.

<"The gas is deadly stuff. We're counting on you, Toast, or that's just what we're going to be with that stuff.'> Tallie remains out of reach of the corrosive gas, keeping an eye on Ax's wily fingers as he makes a workaround while Violet and Kasia talk to Frik.

<"Good news that he got out of the way. I can cover us, Violet, long-range with my blaster.">

"I think having some rebreathers would be something for us to start carrying on us for times like this." he says as he looks around to the others. When Kasia comes over to where he is, Yuun backs away allowing her to take the lead on speaking with possibly Babu. He does listen to what's being said. Still Yuun looks to the large door that the gas is behind and he shakes his head but then he starts looking up for ventalation shafts. It's then Rey he hears next as she speaks about being able to possibly vent the gas. "That would be very helpful in this situation." he says as he turns to look at her.

When the type of ship is explained by Jax, Yuun looks to him and Ax, "Ok. Do you think this ship still has it's full compliment of droids?" he asks curiously. "I can take point but I don't have any of the shielding abilities yet, I can dissipate the energy from blasters if hit bu that's it." he states. Yuun feels his mind swimming a little, 'Calm.' is what he thinks to himself.

"I have two rebreathers on me," Kasia remarks as she thumps a hand against her bag. "I keep them in case Hex or I need them, we've needed them before. More than once. If someone wants one..." She allows others to continue the conversation with Babu while she steps back, hand going to the saber on her hip while the other digs in the bag to find the rebreathers. "I'm not sure what that gas does to exposed skin either though, or anything else. My guess is its not good for any of it." The rebreathers she has are pulled out, a bit linty from time in the bag, but not dirty. With that she goes quiet and closes her eyes a few moments, drawing in a slow breath and trying to reach out to the force to bring it in around her as a protective barrier. You know, just in case.

Rey's eyes go to Jax as he answers her question about the ship they're all on. She had not gotten a look at it,a nd her real expertise in ships goes back to the Rebellion era, the Empire, not so much further back to the clone Wars.

It's Babu's voice that is drawing Rey toward the terminal that Kasia gets him to appear upon. She hears him talking and she walks up behind the others. "Babu?" Rey speaks up. "where is Zorii?" Rey asks, knowing, or at least believing, that the little droid repairman will remember her!

The success from Ax has Rey looking in his direction, then to where the gas is. "Good job. Keep it going." She says. "Babu, we'll come get you, but help us along the way if you can."

Rey looks to Kasia then and nods softly. "To be honest, I'm not even sure those will work on this kind of gas. If only Aryn were here..." She says with a slight sigh.

Ax quick work causes the chlorine gas to vent into space. The next section of the ship was getting all rusty looking and tarnished. It didn't smell pleasant in an overly sharp way. There's a couple more dead people and some rusted B1s.

At hearing Rey's voice, Babu calls out, " Hey Heeey! Zorii go, go. Don't know Babu gone." Then he pressing buttons and it's taking a moment and visibly working. His console so big and he so smol. Then he goes, "There. Gas all gone. Droids all done." Then he frowns, "Small Problem. One real mean. He don't listen to Babu. He don't shut down." Then there's the sound of a pair of repeater blasters going off against metal. "He's here."

Jax starts gathering the force around him. "Ax, I'm glad you're here and let us know what's we're against." Then the jedi takes off down the hall.

The team soon arrives to find a Drodikea not in his roller ball form but with his shield up and blasting at the door to the bridge. The doors beginning to glow red and melt.

"On our way, Babu!" is the call from the violet haired jedi. Zan goes racing after Jax, using the force if she has to, in order to get moving as fast as she can. Her saber is pulled out as she runs, ignited, and ready to go. Though as she spies the issue, she takes a deep breath. She concentrates, and uses the power of the Force, one hand reaching out and making a slapping motion. The droideka staggers into the wall, as though shoved hard. His arm gets wrenched, though it's still attached, and not necessarily stopped from doing anything. But - the droid does take notice. He'd feel that, if he could feel. "Oh, that's definitely not good," she says. "But I am pretty sure that tk hits him." In case anyone was wondering.

~ Ax was far from a droid engineer, but he'd helped his wife rebuild D0-NK, the 'family droideka' that his daughter loved to ride on like a mini stormtrooper on a dewback. On the way up to the bridge, Ax had filled the team in on what he knew about the droid. When they get within range though, the droid's already in combat mode, shields up and letting out a barrage of repeating blaster fire.

"No energy hits until shields are down, just grenades or physical weapons. Don't worry about me, I'll be fine!" Ax says, knowing it to be true for a few moments at least. With that said, he rushes forward, screaming at the droideka, his lightsaber spinning in rapid movements to gather the droid's focus. "Come get me, ya rusty bastard!" he yells. ~

Come now, Qutha - they let you along for more than your ability to make a decent cup of tea and a fruit plate. Pastoral yokel. A deep breath, and then he lets go. Blending his wish to help with a surrendering to let the force use him as its conduit to do what it can with his wishes.

Robes billowing out before he gestures, palm out and fingers splayed to send out, in his mind, solidity itself to crush against the Droidikea's shields with the hollow thunk of contact with the defense screens and the opaqueing of energy while it dissipates and then the metal threatens to buckle, creaking in places but not quite breaking it while the wave of energies passes through.

Qutha's response? To look at his hands and then out and around at the others. "OH!"

On the lookout for lingering pockets of gas, Tallie paces behind the lead Jedi, grumbling quietly to herself. A shielded Droidikea has made her day. Behind the helmet mask, her eyes widen at Violet's and Ax's use of the Force. It is rare for the pilot to see any of the Jedi who fly with her use their Force abilities.

Aware that her blaster is dangerous against its shield, she holds back as Ax menaces the Droidkea. He goes to the right, so she goes to the left, flanking the droid to divide its attention. She smiles faintly at Qutha's exclamation. Her shot barely catches its attention. Around her, the Jedi chip away at the powerful droid.

When the gas is vented out, he watches as the others rushes down the hall. Yuun follows down the hall, keeping up as they rush to get Babu out. He didn't want the little guy to come to harm. Though the blasting of the door by the Droidideka, seeing the door glowing as it's starting to melt. "Yeah." is all Yuun says. Seeing the shield surrounding the battle droid. Seeing what the other Jedi are doing, Yuun takes a breath and holds out his hand to the droid, seeing it slammed. Yuun grasp the Droidideka in the Force, he grips it tightly and raises the droid into the air only to slam it down hard into the ground. He could see that it was being damaged and now as he looks at the droid, watching the power wink out, "I think it's down." he says as he release his grip within the Force of the droid.

With the gas all gone, Kasia tucks away the rebreathers and gets ready to move now that the corridors are clear. Mostly clear. Not clear of the stank, distaste for it registered by the crinkling of her nose. Still she soldiers on. Others deal with the droideka threat, but she turns to the door. She eyes the already reddening metal and switches on her saber while the droideka is slapped around like a pinata, then steps forward to plunge her lightsaber into the door to start cutting through it. It's slow work, but not as slow with the already weakened metal, aiming to cut a pathway through that's more than large enough for Babu to get out.

With the poisonous gas cleared, Rey moves with the others through the interior of the giant ship toward where Babu is supposedly hold-up. She draws her blaster pistol and clutches it in her right hand, holding her fingers off of the trigger as they make their way through the corridor.

Once they reach the location with the droideka guardian seemingly going for Babu too, Rey ducks back for cover as the others ignite their weapons and go to deal with the droid. She can hear the droid getting torn apart, and when she ducks her head out again she sees that its been handled.

Rey appears nea rth eothers and just nods her head with a light smile. "Well done." She says moments before Kasia starts in on the door. Keeping her blaster held at her side, Rey walks around to watch the door get cut open, and with a bit of room she leans down to peer through the hole from the pink saber blade.

"Babu, it's us. We've cleared the way." She says moments before the hole is cut large enough to create a BAbu-door.

As soon as the Babu-door is cut and safe enough for him to come throug, Babu Frik appears. He runs up to Rey's leg and then climbs up the jedi Paragon to sit on her shoulder. "Hey, Heeey! Thank You!" Then he looks around, "I, Babu Frikk. Let's go. Set ship to blow. It go, Black, Black."

Jax looks around, "Uhm remind me to study up on different gases and ways to take out crazy droids. Guess we can't use Sabers on everything."

Zandra arches a brow and then she nods. "If this ship is rigged to blow, it's time to leave," she agrees. "C'mon, let's go. Babu - how much time do we have?" she adds, just you know so they know if they have to leave yesterday or just two minutes ago. She does start back towards the hangar as soon as there's an answer, not wasting any time. "We can have a celebration party back at the fleet, yeah?"

~ With the droid down and disabled, Ax stops his spinning and is physically staggered for a moment. Even brief moments of invincibility come with a price, and his nose begins to bleed a small trickle out of one of his nostrils. "Alright, let's get everyone out of here," he says, leaning against the wall for a moment to gather his senses. ~

Steretching out a bit, Yuun clips his lightsaber back to his belt. He watches as Babu makes himself known to them and climbs up Rey. He chuckles a little, and he walks over to Ax, "You good?" he asks wiht a smile. "Yeah, it's about that time to get outta here." he says and starts to head back the way they've come, not wanting to be here when this place blows. Still absolutely flabbergasted that he was able to do something, Qutha nods dully at first. "Right, right. Gather up, get everything out." pausing, "We're just going to leave this hulk here I suppose? I doubt we've the firepower, really, to destroy it?" such as what there was to be left out.

"Bother and blow..." rubbing a hand on the back of his neck, "That's a good point, charts of gases. I'd never had to be concerned with such before, so that in itself is a good point." looking to the others, "Anyone need a cup of tea? I can go to that ship and get the pot started - something to soothe nerves after this?" babbling now, excited, the aftereffects of adrenaline. He pauses. Breathes. Working to get his focus back, "I know it should do me quite well after all this excitement, yes?" a nervous grin to go with a raised brow as he motions towards the ships.

Both Violet and Toast have the right idea. Tallie will have time to stare at the renown Babu in safer circumstances and perhaps watch him work. Not at all unhappy at wearing overpowered armor, Tallie follows the others down the corridor.
